I have gone to all the coffee shops in DTSA. When it comes to service- coffee muse gets it. I was a barista for many years and I always made sure to give people great service or conversation because we never know what people are going through. I come in so tired from work and they always find a way to make me smile and remember my name. There are other places in DTSA where I have been there regularly and they don't strike up a conversation at all. Seriously all the people that work here are so fun and I'd love to give a special shout out to Yasmin and Jocelyn and Jocey who have been holding it down for a long time. And also to the girl who had a cool white she wolves t shirt today. Great coffee as well. I stick with either a classic vanilla, Honey Nut Cheerios, or my go to Dirty Vanilla Chai (made in house). I enjoy the mantecadas as well and they provide the sweetness I need in the morning. I love that they collaborated on a tik tok as well for the school district arts ig. This place has grown from loteria tables and now to a community hub. I love how they have always tried to create community through open mics and experimenting with flavors to bring more people in. I stumbled on this place because I didn't have any luck with the last two I was trying to check out that same morning. One was closed for a private event and the other one had weird parking options and I didn't want to risk getting a ticket when all I wanted was a coffee. So I parked at a meter parking when I found this place on Yelp and only because someone had just pulled out of it and still had some time left. Otherwise, I would pick another spot cuz I hate paying for parking. It was way too cold as soon as I entered the store but there was a line which makes me believe that this was actually a good place. I ordered a drink that I wasn't familiar with just by looking at the name, and the cashier who helped me wasn't very nice when she told me it's just a white chocolate mocha. I just feel like she was making it seem like I should've known what it was and I was asking her nicely too. And plus, what if I didn't even know what a white chocolate mocha was. I just felt dumb for asking and I wish she didn't reply the way she did. But besides that, I will judge this place solely on my drink and the food. I ordered the avocado toast and to my surprise, this was a big toast! It was very good and it was a good size, very filling. I would definitely recommend this. My drink as well was very good and would recommend it. Nothing different about it but it was classic. read more

First the drink was amazing I got a recommendation from a barista and it didn't disappoint! I got the iced Mexican mocha. Sweet and not too chocolatey so I really liked it! After ditching coffee bean, this has been my new favorite coffee place for almost a year. I always get the same drink and it's always delicious. I have no doubt in my mind the rest of their drinks are just as delicious, but I just happen to be a creature of habit Their pastries are freshly baked every morning and you can't definitely never go wrong with a Mantecada. Tesla owners be warned!! And even if you're not a Tesla owner and plan to just go here and get some work done.. buy something right away, not when you actually want it. I considered giving it one star but as you might have caught, this review is not for the coffee, food or ambience.. this review is for sitting at a table with my laptop and headphones and being confronted by an (employee or manager) who asked me to leave unless I buy something. She told me this was my second notice and that I was warned the day before to buy something for sitting there, but that wasn't true, if it was this review would have been posted a day earlier . So Instead of buying something I left. Imagine if starbucks whose policy is basically "please come hang out with us all day, sit, relax, read a book, do some work, whatever we just want you here.. (because we know you'll eventually buy something, and then again and again, gleefully until you monthly Starbucks bill is as much as a small mortgage). It's true am I right!? But no not this place. They're straight up going against their own interests. Would I have bought something? yeah eventually, when I wanted something! Besides I'm literally doing them a favor by sitting here.. it's a small shop that is often empty, my sitting there gives them immediate social proof for window shoppers to come in and try it out. Seriously how many of you have considered trying a new place only to find out it's vacant like a ghost town and feeling weird and walking away, assuming it's probably $h*!.. I mean.. not very good? I know I have. In fact Ive already been a customer, many times before.. I've had their food and coffee on a number of visits, and it's totally consumable, not the best in the world (that would disputably be in Italy) but certainly not the worst. However I go here for only one set of reasons.. my kids attend OCSA and I own a Tesla (tesla chargers are upstairs). The drive one way is far and this is the nearest, cheapest (and also slowest) supercharger around. So when I charge and don't want to sit in the car for 45 mins.. and maybe need to use the bathroom and get a coffee, I'll come here.. I am always searching for local coffee shops to fuel my coffee addiction, so with their great reviews i knew I had to venture to downtown Santa Ana to give them a try. I'm glad I did because they have become one of my favs. I usually order the cold brew or the Honey Nut Cheerios. The cold brew is always changing but they have been good every time. There is nothing I hate more than a overly sour acrid taste of some cold brews. Their cold brew is always smooth and pleasant. My favorite is the Honey Nut Cheerios though. I'm not a huge fan of the cereal or anything, but the flavors seem to translate into a drink really well. I also love that it is made with oat milk which is what I always get in other drinks as well. I have also gotten their pecan cookie which is really good especially when they toast their pecans perfectly before baking it in the cookie. The only downside for me is the location especially now when there is construction going on for the cable car. You can no longer park in front of the shops. The parking structure is open and there is still some street parking on the sides. I still go even with the hassle because the coffee is worth going through that. read more

Visited Coffee Muse for the first time today and I absolutely loved it! Not only was the service fast and high quality, the overall ambience of the shop was amazing as well. I resonated a lot with the atmosphere and could see myself bringing a couple friends here for an afternoon snack. We got the Iced Honey Nut Cheerios and an Iced Matcha Latte and both tasted great! I personally enjoyed the Honey Nut Cheerios the most though, I've never had a coffee before that tasted like it and I can definitely see myself craving it on a random day. Went during the week in the afternoon to work on a lecture slide. I got NOTHING DONE. There's very little seating and the ambiance is not conducive to studying. I sat at the table in front of the bathroom and tried to work while I waited for my matcha latte. A loud group walked in and the single staff member was flooded with orders and my drink was further delayed. When it finally came out, I had to search for a napkin because they are kept behind the counter. I waited for the staff member to free up from making the group drinks before I could ask for a napkin. When I FINALLY had everything to get to work. A maintenance man entered through the other doors and set up a scaffolding right in front of my table to do something on top of the bathrooms. I left and won't be coming back for the overpriced matcha latte. read more

I've been wanting to try this coffee shop for a bit now. I work very close by so it's only a walk away. The them of the shop is super cute, it's got a Latin feel to it. There's a lot of art throughout the shop. The vibe is welcoming. They offer milk subs for 90 cents: oat, almond, and soy. This is a super plus for me! The barista was Ricky, he was very polite and recommended the dirty chai latte. He said this was their top selling drink. I opted for oat milk. He mentioned the drink was not very sweet so I did not adjust the sweetness level. My coworker got a caramel latte, iced with almond milk. She mentioned it was very good and could tell there was cinnamon. My iced dirty chai latte was very delicious. It was honestly not that sweet, but since I usually drink my coffee black, to me, it was sweet-ish. Lol I think next time I will just try a latte with no flavor. I could tell the coffee was fresh, and the drink was made with care. They also have some pastry options and avocado toast. I did not try any of them but hioe to do so another time. I wish they opened a little earlier since I start work at 7am and that's the time they open. I get it thought dtsa is pretty quiet in the early morning. This coffee shop is super cute-- I like the aesthetic a lot. They don't have any indoor seating right now but there were several outdoor tables that were shaded. I ordered the regular sized oat milk latte with one extra shot. I really really liked the coffee but even had it been mind blowing, I don't think any coffee drink/latte is worth $6.90 (and it wasn't even the large size.) They charge $1 for an extra shot and $.90 for nondairy milk. Personally, I don't think that non-dairy milk should be up-charged but $.90 is pretty unreasonable. I hate to give 3 stars because the coffee was really good but I can't rationalize spending almost $7 on coffee again. read more

I just want to say, as a coffee shop manager this place met everything you want when you go somewhere new. The staff was super sweet, I told them I can't have a lot of cinnamon because I'm allergic but wanted the Honey Nut Cheerios without cinnamon. The girl wrote it on cup, but it had cinnamon when I got it. I hate returning but asked if they could remake just without as much cinnamon but it was amazing! So delicious. They didn't hesitate at all! They bought me a new one and some free cookies so sweet! Wonderful customer service! They are dog friendly which is amazing. What a cool and hip little place to come across on my visit to 4th street! The exterior has an unmistakable wall of mural along side the walls which is quite a sight to see. Needed to get my daily coffee fix so I stopped by this place. I wanted something that wasn't too sweet and the cashier recommended the Dirty Vanilla Chai which was the perfect amount of sweetness for me personally! I didn't really get much of a vanilla flavor but it tasted like a regular latte with some cinnamon in it so the latte wasn't the best chai latte I've had. However, the cashier was super nice as she helped me decide what to choose. Inside is clean and there wasn't any indoor seating but there are a couple tables right outside. For parking, there is meter street parking. There's also a parking lot very near to this place and I believe the first two hours are free. In conclusion, glad I tried this place out. I've been coming here since I was in high school when they first opened up. I would just go to the back and do some work and be able to soak in the authenticity and art they put up. But wow things have changed and for the better! I see the barista that used to serve me (I think he's the owner) has a roaster for the coffee beans in the cafe as well as the bean bags out for everyone to see! I love that! I will always be a loyal customer and I stay recommending people to go here. The vibes and the authenticity is amazing. I personally am in love with their dirty vanilla chai ( I always add extra shots lol). If you're looking for a place to get good coffee and pastries while staying in the Santa Ana Vibes, definitely a must to come here.
