I was at the store to order "Ours size" coffee lovers. There was some extra ice cream mixed which was a little more than what fit in the box . All Coldstone stores I have visited in my life always scoop up this leftover ice cream into a smaller cup and hands it over to us - This store completely declined to do it and said they would rather trash the ice cream but not give it. Mix-ins were super less -- I always request to swap almonds with brownies as I cant eat nuts - They used just one and half brownie for Ours size ( other coldstone stores add 3-4 brownies) . The mixing was also hurried. I asked them to pack the icecream well as I had a longer drive back but he handed me a box which was already dropping and spilling on the sides - there was a lot spillage by the time I reached home. read more

It's a typical Cold Stone with jars of add ins, ice cream flavors on display and pre-made ice cream cakes and cupcakes in the fridges. K.N. and I stopped in since the weather has been in the unusually high 90's in our area and Cold Stone seemed like the perfect way to beat the heat. We both opted for the "Creative Creations" instead of making our own. I got the Cheesecake Fantasy and he got the Birthday Cake. The Cheesecake Fantasy was a Cheesecake ice cream with graham cracker crumbs with blueberries and strawberries. The person mixing our ice cream didn't specifically ask us what size we wanted and we ended up getting our ice cream put into the large cup. He did offer us waffle bowls though ... strange. The ice cream was mixed well and I thought mine tasted good very similar to a fruit parfait! Our ice cream came out to be around 9- 10 dollars which to me seems steep. I think next time I'll go with making my own ice cream/add in mix. They sell shaved ice, smoothies and milkshakes here as well! read more

By far my all-time favorite ice cream shop. The workers here are nice and friendly, and they always give you ginormous scoops! I always get the "Like It" size (small), because I can barely finish even that. The whole store smells so yummy too, and the general atmosphere is just welcoming. I'd really recommend their signature creations, because they come with different toppings that you can request either mixed in or on top (I always do mixed in). I love anything related to cookie dough or cake batter, but I've been working my way through the menu over the past years and have tried quite a few of their creations, all of which I've loved. Of course, just ice cream by itself or with a couple of toppings is great too. I also love their ice cream cakes and cupcakes! They're perfect for birthday parties or other special occasions. Extremely mid, the boys that were here when we came in really need more training. We weren't greeted until they were ready to help us (a simple "hi, we'll be with you in a minute" is the polite thing to do). The boy who prepped my ice cream scooped it super slowly and still my ice cream came out pretty melty and barely had any of the toppings mixed in. Even if it has a couple pieces of fruit in it you're still supposed to chop the hell out of it on the stone to get it super cold and evenly mixed in!! I ended up with soup with 3 large pieces of fruit in it. My partner was pretty satisfied with his ice cream though. Y'all should take example from the Rivermark Plaza location IMO. read more

After having lunch my former coworker suggested we go and have desert somewhere. I recommend Cold Stone as I remembered seeing this location. It is in a very large strip mall near Marie Calendar's. When we were there it was run by two high school students that did a great job engaging customers. I chose one of the recipe mixes on the wall. I have been to this location twice now. I tried their Frappe first time at Great Mall in Milpitias and boy was it good. My bf works in the Silicon Valley so I ended up visiting this location of Coldstone and tried the Coffee Shake. Flaky service, and OVERPRICED. Normally wouldn't Yelp a Cold Stone, but the service the last time we were here was pathetic. Came here on a Friday evening, and it was like a zoo. People were nearly out the door, and the short-staffing didn't help matters. It took ages for us to get called up to place our order due to both the under-staffing and overall ineffectiveness of the workers (when mixed with the massive crowd). When I finally got my ice cream, they still took their "good old time" with another one of my family members. It took nearly five minutes just for them to get and pay for a basic scoop of ice cream. When she went to pay, the woman up front, after ignoring her, asked, "ARE YOU WAITING FOR TOPPINGS?" When she replied "no," this delayed the process for roughly 2 additional minutes. The ice cream itself was good - I've been a Cold Stone fan for years, but considering how freaking expensive it was, I wouldn't return. I got a "Signature Creation" with Cake Batter ice cream, brownies, and chocolate sauce. The chocolate sauce was skimpy at best, and there were only a few small chunks of brownie in mine - the rest had been ground up completely. I've only been here three times. The first time, there seemed to be 3 girls on shift. But only one of them seemed to be working, as the other two were just walking back and forth not really doing anything. It didn't look like they were restocking or working on orders, they were just walking from the back to the front a handful of times. The one girl that was working, didn't seem too happy about helping customers or being the only one doing anything. No greetings from anyone as people walked in. No eye contact when I actually placed my order. Got a big sigh out of the girl though and what looked like a holding back an eyeroll look once I was next. The second time was okay, got my order in, 10 minutes later was out the door. Although, not too sure why it took ten minutes, the customer before me was paying as I was walking in, so technically I was the only one there. Again, no greeting, not acknowledging I was there. This third time, two girls on shift. One was helping a customer and the other just looked at me and said hi, barely even moving her lips. Didn't smile, sighed as she asked what I wanted. I told her my order, then she goes on the phone for about 5 mins only to tell me they don't have banana ice cream. Couldn't you have told me that before I waited? This review is for their ice cream cakes. Omg my cake was delicious! In the past I've gotten cakes from baskin Robbins, which I've always liked, but I wanted to try something different. My cake from cold stone was the best ice cream cake I've ever had! I got strawberry ice cream with roasted almonds and chocolate shaving add ins and it was amazing. The chocolate cake was also very good and the fudge ganache was delicious. I loved that I got to customize so many different aspects of the cake, and I believe the price was actually $5 cheaper than the same size at baskin Robbins. It felt like they really put care into making my cake, it looked good as well as tasting great. I'll be getting all my cakes here from now on! read more

I ordered a large cup of Peanut Butter Cup Perfection and asked for extra PB and Cup and there was no hardly any PB or Chocolate in it at all!!...And when I asked the person at the cash register she said well we didnt cahrge me for it any way, BS, YES you did....And when they tried to fix it, they took it behind the counter and left it there and said NOTHING to me regarding my ice cream, and there it sat on the counter!!...I spend nearly 20 dollars there "with tip" and asked for ALL my money back...There was never any offer of making it right, or no Im sorry sir, NOTHING...Just here is your money back!!..HORRIBLE SERVICE!! read more

I've started coming to this location every weekend for the past year and a half since moving to sunnyvale. Great ice cream makes for great after dinner treat. Most visits were nothing but 5 stars with the great staff who work here. Sadly I've noticed one of my favorite workers no longer working here. I have been coming to this Cold Stone for more than 10 years now. First off, I love the product. I also was in charge on planning company events at my previous job and one of the events I chose to do an ice cream social for 324 employees. I called a competing company and they did not want to deliver ice cream for that amount of people so I called over to this cold stone and they were not just willing to deliver the ice cream, but they came and set up an entire ice cream station so our employees could have sundaes. They also stayed for a good portion of the event to help hand out the ice cream cups and to make sure we had all we needed. I was not sure how small or large of a scale they would deliver for but I wanted to surprise my son with an ice cream sundae party at his school for the last day of school and Cold Stone (this particular store) delivered the ice cream to the school for me because I did not have time to get to their school and attend the social AND get back to work. Life Savers!! I would recommend this location because I have been going back to buy ice cream for myself and for the company and I have received great service every time. The fact that the people working here are in high school can either make you happy to be a patron or annoyed/embarrassed for having to order your crazy ice cream from someone who looks like a little kid. Just recently, my wife, her friend and I visited Coldstone for some mixed-up ice creamy goodness. While I wouldn't call myself a Coldstone Connoisseur, this wasn't our first time, and we had a pretty clear idea of what we liked and didn't. Two employees were waiting for us when we got in, and we went ahead and ordered. Our order went to the trainee, a young woman who was doing her best to compete with the ice cream for sugary-sweetness. "Hi!" She shouted cheerfully, "welcome to Coldstone!" We humored her antics as part of the territory in a fad-ice cream chain, and made our order. She struggled through the preparation, but badly mixed ice cream is still ice cream, and we went out to enjoy the sunny day, ice cream in hand. We relaxed, chatted, dug a couple bites deep into our dessert, and discovered a black hair. Neither my wife nor I have black hair, so, a little unsettled but not irrationally so, my wife went back into the shop to get a replacement. She waited patiently to show the hair to one of the employees discretely while another patron ordered, not wanting to disturb the other customers. Then she walked up and showed the hair to the trainee. "Oh," said the trainee as she took the ice cream, threw it in the trash, then turned to stare blankly at my wife. Very disappointing tonight, Chocolate ice cream was terrible, my Wife characterized it as rubbery. This is a real first at Coldstone which has always been great. Best thing about Cold Stone is that they do field trips for schools. The kids have a great time, they get to 'make' their own ice cream (for $3/kid) and then eat it. This particular location is owned by a former student's family (from my son's preschool) so this is the one the field trips are at. It's a little small so they can't accomodate a lot of kids at one time, but 25 at a time is okay to tour the kitchen area. read more

Yikes! This is our neighborhood cold stone and so we go here occasionally. I'm pregnant, so we've been twice in the last week. The last time we went we noticed they had shaved ice, so we made a mental note to come back on a hot day... On that day I did notice that the shaved ice bar was pretty messy looking, but I thought perhaps they were busy and would get to it later... That night we bought ice cream sandwiches and they were AWFUL! They tasted like they had been flashed frozen and maybe sat in there forever. I couldn't even finish mine! Tonight we decided to go back for the ice... Once again the bar was a mess, but on first glass looked slightly cleaner... The employee who helped us seemed to not be totally familiar with the shaved ice situation there and didn't know anything about the flavors... What is Tiger's Blood, and they had no idea what coconut flavor was, even though it was on the list of flavors. On closer look the syrups looked scary!!! Many didn't even have lids on them!! The server also put way to much syrup to ice on... Anywho... I always seem to write a bad review rather than a good review lately, but I do want to say that time is valuable and if my experience provoked me to write this review, please know it was pretty bad! I needed a cake for a birthday celebration and decided to try out Cold Stone. They have a really neat app on their website that allows you to build your own cake and customize every aspect. Although it's a bit pricey, you definitely are able to get exactly what you want. You can place the order in advance (which was a a huge plus for me) and then just specify the date and time you want to pick it up. I stopped by the Sunnyvale location to pick up the cake and was greeted by an employee, although no one was in the store, it took her about 5-10 minutes to get the cake. I didn't mind as I wasn't in a hurry. The store itself is clean and conveniently located right off El Camino. Bottom line, if you're looking for an alternative to the traditional birthday cake, try customizing your own ice cream cake online! read more

This is for the way the management provided customer service... I had placed an order for delivery to my daughter's birthday party which took place last night, the cake barely showed up on time! I was starting to get nervous and even upset thinking that there would be no cake at all. We stalled the party (luckily no one knew better), I called them, and I was informed that the manager was rushing the delivery right then and there. (I shouldn't have to call to make sure) When it finally arrived, it was, of course, still frozen. We managed. But as we were enjoying it, I realized it was pretty much plain vanilla ice cream, instead of Oreo ice cream cake - ok if you looked really hard, it looks like bits of Oreos in some of the slices. Everyone thought we were having vanilla, which was fine for the party, they don't know what I know! But I kind of have an issue with that... it's not what I had ordered! So 2 major issues... it did not arrive on time, because it didn't arrive on time, it did not get a chance to be thawed properly. And where are the Oreos?! Now, mind you, I gave them plenty of time for this order, 4 days ahead. Someone had even called me to confirm my order in between as well, I didn't think anything could go wrong. The saving grace was the way the manager, Kia, whom I just spoke to, handled the entire situation. I simply told him I wanted to give him feedback on my experience last night, and he figured out what went wrong (new employee?) Whatever the case, he handled my call kindly and graciously. read more

3 1/2 stars Generally I'm not a big cold stone fan. It's probably because my introduction to ice cream with mix-ins on the "cold stone" was at Marble Slab in Tucson, AZ. They have they best Ice Cream I've ever tasted, with simple, but delectible flavors like Honey and Sweet Cream. Yum... The first time I had Cold Stone was in El Cerrito and I was so dissapointed with the quality of the ice cream that I've not been back. I'm also not big on chunks in my ice cream so the mix-in thing is no big draw. But I must have been in the perfect mood for it because I really enjoyed my ice cream! I tasted the Cotton Candy, which I LOVED, but the 4 year old wanted the dark chocolate and since we were sharing... It was Ghiradelli Dark Chocolate and it was pretty good. The Waffle cone bowl was slightly stale, but not so much as to ruin the experience. I dropped money in the tip jar, but there was no singing from the employees like they promis in their commercials. It's hard to find anything wrong with ice cream, but there's something very subtly disgusting about Coldstone ice cream - it's sticky, overly sweet, and I suppose, the opposite of lukewarm - luke...cold? The formula seems to be more cream-based than usual, leading to a gelato-like consistency but slightly heavier. Mixing toppings into this half-melted ice cream makes an even less appealing concoction - sort of like piling the ice cream pre-digested onto your cone. Interestingly enough it's getting a huge reception in Asia - lines out the door. For each their own, I suppose. read more

Honestly, I'm kind of shocked that Cold Stone is still kickin' around. Even when it was the 'in thing' I still wasn't a huge fan of getting my ice cream smooshed together with my choice of ingredients. I recently stopped by with my boyfriend for old times sake (and also because every other icecream/froyo place had just closed up for the night). We ordered a standard chocolate ice cream and added pecans & marshmallows. The ice cream itself is pretty pricy and if you decide to add any toppings, it only gets more expensive (I wanna say that each additional topping was like .75/ea which is pretty cray for a sprinkle of nuts or candy). Definitely not rushing back to Cold Stone anytime soon-- I'd absolutely rather drive further to get better ice cream (Tin Pot), or not much further (Pinkberry) for froyo. read more

This is a very friendly location, and service has always been quick and cheerful, even though there is usually a line. It's not very big inside - kind of loud and warm from all the freezers - but there is plenty of room and tables and a low concrete wall outside to eat your ice cream on while you stare into the sushi place next door and watch their tv. I like to get their black cherries as a mix-in - sweet, good texture and flavorful, especially with cheesecake ice cream. I am glad that they were stocking them the last few times we've been in. Recommend against the blueberries, which always end up frozen and watery, no matter how nice they look in the container. All the fruit mix-ins are frozen, not fresh. But that's the Cold Stone way. The last time we were in, we saw that they are now doing shaved ice ( though not with the One True Machine). It also seems like they now have a new and slightly larger upright freezer, which is full of ice cream cakes ( recommended ), ice cream sandwiches ( even more recommended ) and ice cream cupcakes ( which we have not tried ). read more
