So my fiancé and I don't get much alone time with us being parents on top of her having major health problems and always in and out of the hospitals. But, our server (can't remember her name) was super awesome! When we go out we usually encounter servers who don't do their job. And she went above and beyond the serving and helped us choose what to eat due to us never being to Colton's before. Awesome attitude even while wearing a mask. We definitely will be coming back as long as the server we had stays there! My fiancé said her name was Shanna possibly. Pink flower mask! But on another subject food was amazing! Best sirloin steak prepared to perfection. Potatoes and the mushroom gravy were delicious. I had a Montana Burger and it's huge and was amazing. This dining experienced was lacking. First off, our server was clearly overwhelmed (too much on his plate-capable fellow, but too taxed to provide good service). The food arrived in less-than a timely fashion. The steak I ordered medium, but arrive very well-done; russet potato, in lieu of the sweet potato, which is what was ordered. I would have liked to return the food for a remade plate, however, it was around the 10 minute marker that our server returned, so it wasn't worth the hassle. Overall, I wasn't impressed. read more

When I first walked in the was food on the floor EVERYWHERE. We complained and they did nothing my nana had to clean it her self. Dont get me started on the food chicken tenders overly salted, steak not seasoned properly and they call themselves a "steak house". I am disgusted by this I would give this place a -64 stars. Ok here we go. Most places serve the salad before the entree. Most places bring the side with the entree. To top it off most wait staff bring a pen with the check after they run a credit or debit card. Yes all of the above just happened in one meal. The salad was DOA when it arrived 7 minutes after the lukewarm entree. Limp slimy lettuce, yech skip that. The entree was sirloin tips with peppers and onions. I had the sirloin tips and the onions there were two tiny pieces of green pepper (I am guessing green peppers are spendy right now). The baked potato showed up after I had eaten the entree and pronounced the salad a goner. Our server whisked away the entree plate along with my knife and fork as she delivered the side (Only thing that she did in less than 5 minutes all night). The potato (again luke warm) was in a tiny little dish that just fit it, okay for those who scoop the inside out and leave the skin. One server not ours realized that things were not going so great and he tried to save it he refilled my tea and my wife's drink and brought me a plate for the potato. I have to say that I have not been a huge fan or a regular at Colton's but my wife likes the catfish. Over the years I have had mediocre food and uneven service there so it is not my favorite place. Tonight was it I am done. Not going back. FWIW I don't blame our server but the manager phantom whom I looked for but could not locate in the restaurant. Whoever it is really should step up the game the manager is responsible for training staff and being sure guests have a good experience. I have absolutely no idea how this restaurant could have 4.5 stars on Yelp. Usually I am feeling guilty in ranking places too generously on Yelp. I would give a zero but can't so here it is. Save your money McDonald's is just up the street. read more

Finally got the steak. It was mediocre. The roadhouses are better. Even TGIF had a better steak. I am great on the grill and expect a steak to be less tasty than mine but not this junky. I get better cuts at Walmart. The service at this restaurant is outstanding. I have been here several times. Every time I had great service and mediocre food. If I ever bother to go back it would be based on service but I don't see it happening. read more

The reason I marked ok rather than good, is the waiter we had. He was running like a chicken with his head cut off but not getting anything done. He forgot to fill my wife's glass, even after being asked to do so. He brought our appetizer, rolls, salad, and main dish, all within one minute. I'm not sure if it was just the waiter or management needing to add help. Also the manager on the floor that day, just walked by our table when the drinks were empty. Not what I'm used to at all from there. Lastly the steak had less texture than I'm used to getting there. I will say, in the past it wasn't like this and I will eat there again. Colton's is a favorite for our family. We've been repeat customers for several years. Yes, at times, we've had a poor server, but overall the staff is plenty kind and attentive! The food is good, and almost always served in a timely manner. There's hardly ever a long wait, which we love. It's the perfect noise level to visit in, yet not feel embarrassed when a child gets a tad noisy. Overall, Colton's is our go-to steakhouse in Springfield. read more

This is a great place to eat. We love the steak and the place is super relaxed. I love the fact that I don't have to wait to be seated and the staff makes you feel at home. My wife loves the food for her splurge night. With peanuts and rolls on the table you will not leave here hungry. So take the time for a sit down meal and stop in and say hi to Kat and kick back and slow down for a little bit. You must try the sweet potato fries with marshmallow sauce for a perfect pairing of salty and sweet. read more

I don't eat steak often but when I do, I want it to be good. Service was friendly and professional. Food was above expectations of being good. Ribeye was juicy, tender, and flavorful. We are new to Springfield & have eaten here twice. Both times the service was HORRIBLE! 1st time the waitress completely forgot my order. My husband was almost finished with his meal by the time mine was brought to the table. Luckily he shared his meal with me. The 2nd time our waitress was very unorganized. It took her a long tine to wait on us. Our food took a long time to get to our table & she was not attentive at all. They were not busy either time since it was later in the evening both times. My wife and I both ordered steaks for dinner. Both were ordered Medium. My wife's order came out fine, while mine was completely different. My steak was cooked well done, and dry. Also, I ordered loaded smashed potatoes. So, after being completely dissatisfied with the steak, I figured that at least the potatoes would be good......think again. Upon taking my first bite, I realized that they had used the cinnamon sweet butter for rolls on my potatoes as well. As you would think, that was overly disgusting. So, after brining it to the waitresses attention, she went to get the manager. All this while my wife was engaged in her meal by herself, while I was dealing with this. After a report back from the manager in charge that I was indeed correct that the butter was wrong, and the steak was over cooked, they offered to replace my meal. By then, my wife was all but done with her meal, so I declined. They discounted the ticket, but wouldn't comp he entire ticket. Normally I wouldn't expect it, but this occasion I thought was the right thing to do concerning the length of time and the fact that my wife basically ate by herself while I looked on waiting for the manager to report back that I was right. This will keep me from doing business in the future with Colton's. I thought they were better than this. read more

Place is strictly average. I had the chicken sandwich, which was good size, but still just a chicken sandwich. Service was good, even though one in our party ran the poor guy to death. On the positive side, the tables and booths were situated/blocked to allow for social distancing. Unfortunately everything else was a huge disappointment. My friend and I both ordered sirloin steaks, one medium rare and one medium well, and loaded baked potatoes. The steaks brought to our table were wrong; one was cooked medium and one was cooked well done. We told the person delivering the food that the steaks were cooked wrong and that they should have been medium rare and medium well. Trying to make the best of the situation, my friend said she'd take the medium cooked steak home, cook it a bit more, and just eat it at home. The "food deliverer," in a very nasty voice, told my friend that "she couldn't have both steaks." My friend explained that she didn't want 2 steaks, that she would simply take the "medium" steak and take it home and cook it more. The person took both steaks away and said she'd get new meals. When the new meals were brought out, my friend's steak was again over-cooked, and her baked potato wasn't fully cooked. When our server came back to our table, he apologized for the mix-up and asked how our food was. My friend told him her steak wasn't edible and her potato wasn't completely cooked, and to please just take the food away. The server said he'd give her a discount on her dinner....are you kidding me? I told him the person who actually brought the food was extremely rude and hateful, and I told him my friend shouldn't be charged at all for her meal and to please get the manager so we could explain the situation. The server said it would be better for him to talk to the manager instead of me; that's the first time I've ever been told I couldn't speak to a manager. In the end, my friend wasn't charged for her meal, but only because we insisted that she not be charged. Because of the terrible food and service, Colton's has lost our business. read more

This was an excellent experience. The food was excellent and the price was cheap for what we received. There were five of us who ate steaks for less than seventy dollars. The waiter was extremely good and very friendly. The meal included a salad and hot rolls and a side of your choice. I have paid a lot more and gotten less. I've been to Colton's a few times and the food has always been great. And today that held true. However the service was beyond my expectations. Our servers name was Cody. He asked about our day since it was raining, my Granny told him that we were having a late birthday lunch (my birthday was last week), Cody stayed on top of our drinks and when he noticed I had stopped eating he brought me out ice cream. Most places don't even bother to say happy birthday anymore let alone a dessert. Needless to say it was great! read more

We decided to go out for a steak dinner & went before the dinner crowd. We ordered drinks , an appetizer & then the steak dinners. I had the 6 oz. sirloin & my husband had the 6oz sirloin with ribs , all cooked to perfection. So good !!! We love the warm atmosphere , the decor, the staff & our waitress was exceptional. It felt like we were a guest in a friend's house . We will definetely make this "our spot" for repeat visits. Couldn't ask for a nicer ,friendlier,cleaner & reasonably priced steak house.
