Good comtam with big portions. Only thing is tau hu ky is separate that you have to order on side. Thit nuong is thicker cut and way more juicy and tender. Cha also better than most [[HIGHLIGHT]]Large interior but it does get busy on weekends.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Clean inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service is quick as with all viet places

Com Tam with grilled pork chops and cha trung
Lynne N.

Com Tam Sa Bi Chuong is an underrated place for delicious com tam in OC. I got the com tam with grilled pork chops with cha trung (steamed salted egg meatloaf) and it was so good. I especially love how flavorful and juicy the pork chops were. They even gave a lot of meat, I personally think it's good for 2 people or you can eat it multiple times. The soup on the side tasted very comforting and warm, just like home

I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon to grab some quick Vietnamese food to bring to the airport and was specifically craving com tam (broken rice dishes), especially at a reasonable price. Parking was a nightmare, as this restaurant was nestled in a busy shopping complex with other restaurants. Eventually we found curbside parking adjacent to the complex. There are pre-set plates including the filet mignon steak + mi xao bo toi, bo luc lac + khoai tay chien, com ga hai nam + bo luc lac. You can also build your own plate with 1 item ($13), 2 items ($14), or 3 items ($15). You pick your protein choice(s) and side choice(s). Protein choices include: suon (bbq pork chop), thit nuong (boneless pork), ga nuong (grilled chicken), bo nuong (grilled beef). Side choices include: bi (shredded pork skin), cha (egg cake), cha trung muoi +$1 (egg cake w/salted egg yolk), trung opla (fried egg), tom chien (fried shrimp). I opted for the 1 item option with thit nuong and trung opla. I didn't stay long to pick up my food, as it was ready in under 10 minutes. I waited to eat it hours later when I got to the airport, but as expected it was delicious and hit the spot despite eating it so much later. I also forgot to snap a picture of it, but the portion size was enough for me to eat the other half the next day as its own meal. Overall very solid choice for anyone craving Vietnamese broken rice dishes.

Wanted to try something new, so we checked this place out. I was confused when they gave me 2 menus. They are sharing this space with the Pho Ga 1 Khong 2. I got their pho ga. Got their 2 items for $14. Picked our protein, which is the bbq pork and our side, the egg roll. It came out with 2 pork chops and one egg roll. I love how their side broth came with perfectly small diced daikon and carrot. Their broth tasted like chicken broth, which I'm not mad about. The pork chops were really good. It was a bit on the sweeter side, but you could also taste the smokiness.

Large portions of delicious com tam served here! I do think they raised their prices a bit sigh but so is every other restaurant nowadays I suppose. Quick service. Suon was nice and juicy, not dry at all. I like the complementary dessert at the end of the meal. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Casual ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I was in the area and needed a quick lunch. We haven't had broken rice in a while and came across this place. It's located in a center with a few other small businesses and restaurants, coffee shop. The parking lot is sufficient, but can get crowded during peak hours. The service was quick, and our food came out quickly. Overall, the taste was pretty salty but edible. We ordered the grilled pork and grilled pork chop with egg cake. We also shared a shrimp tofu skin cake which was the perfect amount for the two of us. It was pretty filling.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is nice, and the service is excellent.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The portions are huge but not overwhelming, and I love the variety they offer. The dishes are set-style, letting you pick from a selection of proteins, sides, and plenty of add-ons, many of which are free. Honestly, I thought this place was amazing and it's probably my favourite com tam spot in Orange County.

Food is good. Meat and rice were a little dry in my opinion. Portions are huge. Food comes with soup too. You also get some dessert che at the end. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place is very spacious.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Was craving broken rice so found this place. Lots of food for the price. Got the chicken, shrimp tempura, and steam egg with salted yolk. The chicken and the steam egg were solid. Would skip the shrimp tempura, it's nothing special. The broth was rich and flavorful. Service could be better, had to wait a bit to flag down someone. Not a big deal, would come again.

A lot of food

Revisit after many years (2026); love their "built your own plate" option. Not everyone eats the default food plate, well at least I don't eat bì and always throw them out! It's great to have the ability to pick 1 or 2 proteins and a side ranging from $13, $14 or $15. They used to give 2 pieces of sườn by default but not anymore the last time I ordered so don't expect that. I think the size of sườn is pretty big so it's ok either you get 2 medium or 1 big sườn. The sườn is tender and doesn't have a lot fat; marinated to taste. Canh is a bit salty for me. Pickle veggie are great. You got yourself 2 regular customers :)

I love COM TAM! This was my 2nd time ~ I'm still dreaming about my meal, each bite was a delight. The menu has a wide range selection of dishes, and we ordered the chicken and the grilled pork and loved both dishes that we had. Service was quick and prompt. Thank you. I will def be back! Honorable mentions: -Accepts credit card -Plenty of parking

We got the com tam with bbq pork chop, egg cakes, and an egg yolk ($13/$14). Portions were generous and food was good. Service was efficient.

The chicken was crispy and the dipping sauce gave it that extra yummy goodness. The dish also came with a side of broth that had chicken bits in it, was nice to help digest your dish. I also loved that they gave you pickled veggies & fresh veggies. We also ordered the Loi's Fusion Saltado, upgraded the rice to garlic egg fried rice. The beef was soft and tender, the fries were nice and crispy and the fried rice was fresh. You 100% need to get the Thai Tea. A lot of place add too much cream/half and half diluting the tea flavor, they do not skimp on the actual tea in their drink. The color speaks for itself on the dark orange hue!

I'm a bit late getting around to writing this, and unfortunately, they are already closed, but I still felt like I had to share my experience. I'm not completely surprised that they closed, especially after trying their bò né. I've had this dish many times at different places around Orange County, and unfortunately, this was probably the weakest version I've come across. The first thing that stood out was the presentation. As you can see in the picture, there was this purple-colored sauce on the meat itself, which honestly did not look very appetizing. To make things worse, the sauce was cold and did not heat in time with the skillet, which really took away from the experience. The flavor itself wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't anything memorable. It was just okay, and when you factor in the cold food and the presentation, it made the whole dish disappointing. With so many places around Orange County serving bò né at a much higher level, I would probably recommend spending your money elsewhere. If you were wondering whether you missed out on some hidden gem, don't worry, you didn't. This one felt more like a piece of coal than a diamond. That being said, every restaurant has its journey, and with more time, maybe they could have found their footing. Hopefully, they can take this experience as a lesson, refine their recipes, and bring something better in their next venture. I am rooting for you Loi!

Have been to this restaurant many times, and food is always consistent! Came visit to the restaurant last week, and ordered my favorite Grilled Escargot with Garlic Butter and Peppercorn, Grilled Scallops with Cheese, and my all-time favorite Chilean Sea Bass hot pot! The grilled escargots are a must-have when visiting this place! These are perfectly grilled with rich garlic butter for sweetness, and with a slight kick of spiciness from the peppercorn. Don't forget to also dip the escargot meat with black pepper and a few squeeze of fresh lime juice! If you like melted cheese, then the grilled scallops with cheese would be the perfect match. Each scallop is covered melted cheese and comes sizzling on a hot plate when ordered! Last but certainly not least, my favorite dish of this restaurant is the Chilean Sea Bass hot pot. The order comes with your own tabletop gas stove, along with a hot pot filled with a tom yum like sour soup base. For ingredients, it also includes a plate with slices of pineapple, quarter cut fresh tomato slices, fresh bean sprouts, rice noodles, and a full plate of large pieces of Chilean Sea Bass. Just put all the ingredients in the hot pot and let it cook for 5-10mins on high, I promise you it is one of the best soups you will ever have! Service is good as always. This place always seems to be busy, so you may have to be on the waitlist during certain business hours (eg holidays, prime dinner time, etc). Parking wise, the restaurant is located in a busy plaza, and so you may have to drive around a few times before finding an open spot. However as I said earlier, it's worth the wait. Highly recommended.

We also had the deep-fried tilapia, which was cooked perfectly--crispy on the outside. It's hard to go wrong with anything deep-fried here. The last time I visited on a Monday, the lot was completely full, and I ended up parking on the street. The restaurant is also primarily cash only, so come prepared. They open early, making it a perfect breakfast spot for an early bowl of pho. The pho broth is exactly what I want when I'm craving comfort food--clean, flavorful, and incredibly soothing. However, the star of the meal for me was the chả giò. Wow. Although they arrived after our pho, they came out at the perfect temperature. I was hesitant to take a bite right away because freshly fried food usually burns my mouth, but these were just right. Crispy, airy, savory, and absolutely delicious. Paired with their fish sauce, it was perfection. I enjoyed the egg rolls so much that next time I'm definitely ordering the egg roll vermicelli bowl. Service was friendly and prompt despite how busy it was, and it's clear the staff works hard to keep things moving. One thing I love is seeing all of the awards and accolades displayed on the walls. Phở 79 received the prestigious James Beard America's Classics Award, and it's easy to understand why after one meal here. This restaurant is truly an Orange County icon. The restaurant will soon be moving to a new location, as signs throughout the restaurant announce the upcoming move.
