Tucked away in the very back of a supermarket, in what they casually call a "food court," you'll find this super unassuming spot that screams Vietnamese , but not in a bad way. No AC, random flowers scattered around, a big and simple menu posted right up front... it's the kind of place that feels authentically local and unpretentious. Now for the important part: the bu cha. The bowl may not look huge at first, but it is insanely filling. You get a generous amount of bún and lettuce, plus plenty of grilled meat. You can taste that the thịt nướng is freshly grilled it has the char taste and smell, while the cha is on the leaner side, which I personally prefer. Everything comes together with that classic sweet, savory, slightly tangy nuoc maam. And honestly, the best part? They have a buy 2, get 1 free deal, so I always end up taking an extra bowl home. Was looking for dinner and stumbled across this place. It's location inside Lucky Seafood Supermarket in the back. There's a back entrance to the restaurant from the back of the building. First impression as you talk in was, is this a store or a restaurant? Lol. Lots of displays everywhere. The lady at the register was not nice but not mean. I think she has a hearing problem or my vietnamese wasn't good enough to start a conversation with her. I asked her 3 times how long was the restaurant open and she responded with, closing time, opening time and then a confused blank stare. Lol We ordered the special bun cha hanoi togo. Also tried out there their mi quang ga (chicken). Both items were plentiful and extremely filled. Bun cha hanoi was $16, buy 2 get 1 free. Mi quang was $10. More than a steal for the portion they gave. Taste: Bun cha was good. Nothing memorable but was flavorful. When you open the container, you can smell fish sauce and the charcoal grill from the meat. They gave plenty of noodles and veggies. Mi quang on the other hand... It had a variety of veggies and peanut and crispy sesame rice sheet. Looks like mi quang but tasted nothing like mi quang. I added some shrimp paste (normal not in this dish) since it was extremely lacking in flavorful. Would not order it again. Super affordable and tasty, authentic food! This is located inside Lucky Supermarket. I was here visiting, and was happy to try some Bun Cha. Parking in front was really crowded, but it looks like there is a side parking lot in which you enter for this restaurant because it's tucked away in the back of the grocery store. They have a lot of flowery decor, including items you can purchase. They also have a big tv, so we were able to watch the World Cup while eating our meal, which was cool. The bun cha is buy two get one free, which is a great deal. They give you a generous portion of meat, noodles, and greens. The waterfall chicken is decent. I've had it more crispy and larger at other places, but it wasn't too bad. They also had a ten dollar promo going on for it, so very good bang for your buck. Great selection menu choices with beef reasonable prices. Easy order with friendly staff and plenty of seating. Quick turned around and very attentive staff or owner. Great foods and great broth, perfectly cooked and well ratio of topping and noodle and veggies. The only thing that I find disliked is the cluster of the place, they have ALOT of plastics plants and vases for sales and it everywhere and make the place so mall and packed. My family and I came back here to dine tonight, 11 of us to be exact. The owner was super accommodating and friendly, we met the entire family as a matter of, very nice family. Moist, flavorful, charbroiled to perfection. We also tried banh canh cha ca, which is surprisingly delicious as well. Seriously I can eat these two dishes every weekend. The only constructive comment I could humbly offer is the bun cha broth could be a little less salty. The authentic way to enjoy bun cha Hanoi is to add the vermicelli into the warm bowl of charbroiled meat, and slurp the dipping sauce with every bite of sumptuous vermicelli. Very bad experience buying from this place. Not sure if it's because of the owner change or something. There's no pork belly or pork cheek left when I came to order, but they charged me the same price saying they give me more meatball. The meatball is absolutely no comparison to the other meat type that they run out. Nonetheless, the price is said to be $15.5 per item and it's supposed to be a to go place, but they would charge you more for taking out. Then they added taxes and if you pay by card they will vaguely add more to your final price. Everything came out to be $19 per item. Worst part is people there all told me a different total to pay before the last lady just added so many random fees to my bill. It's a scam! Avoid at all cost! read more
