My favorite shoe store. Mario really knows how to put my feet in the most comfortable shoes ever! Great walking shoes & beautiful sandals.

I was looking for a gift for my mother in law for Christmas. I called and they told me they only sell to their customers and do not take new customers. He was very rude on the phone. Mario and his wife Roseann have taken care of me and my feet since his store opened. I don't buy my shoes anywhere else now. What many people don't understand is that his business, his passion, is to set people up with the right shoes for their feet. It's his reputation on your feet. I have never found him rude or arrogant; he is direct and knowledgeable. If you treat him like a shoe servant, if you expect him to sell you anything you want on a whim, you are giving up his expertise and making a mistake. If you want to get in and out with a quick pair of flip-flops or ballet shoes in the same color as your new sundress, go to Payless. (And by the way, he has very comfortable flip-flops too.) But if you want your feet to be comfortable and happy in your shoes, make the initial appointment and spend a little time with Mario. He will focus on you only, and explain why he won't sell you that walking shoe you spotted when you came in. He'll find the right ones and fit them properly, with orthotics if necessary. It's a shame customers who recommend Comfort Shoe Loft to friends do so without telling them to make an appointment. They have already done that, and they know how it works. For new folks to show up expecting immediate gang service like REI or even self-service like Payless, it can be a shock - especially if they aren't expecting to spend some time. Please folks, I'm not equating the value or education of the specialties, but it would be like walking cold into a doctor's office and demanding to see the doctor immediately to take out your self-diagnosed gall bladder. Hold on a minute, let's give you an exam first, let me get to know your case. Please make an appointment. After your initial appointment visit, your fitting details are saved so that when you return you're "in the computer." That saves him - and you - a boatload of time and enables you as a returning customer to just drop in and wait your turn. With that information available to her, Roseann is excellent at serving you when Mario is busy with someone else, and Mario will advise when appropriate. My first visit was to find a nice-looking pair of shoes I could count on for a lot of walking on a trip to Ireland, and a pair of sandals for the same reason. I have high arches and pronated ankles. I was surprised at the time he spent with me. As someone else has mentioned, there were shoes he wouldn't let me buy, and he told me exactly why. I was very happy with both pairs I got. I still have them and I still love them. Since then I have been in to see Mario many times. He has fit me with work shoes, sandals, walking shoes, sneakers (athletic shoes), and even slippers. I have recommended him to co-workers, friends, my husband, and even my doctor. Don't listen to the complainers, the impatient, the arrogant customers who fly to Yelp to whine about mistreatment and dashed expectations. I work in customer service; I get it. My mother and I initially entered the store trying to find a pair of uggs for my grandmother since she wanted a different pair of boots that were more comfortable to walk in. We entered and , who I believe to be the shop owner,was talking to a different customer. so my grandma and my mother browsed for a few minutes until the guy left. No one really greeted us or helped us until my mom asked for a size in an ugg shoe. He then proceeded to ask whether my mother if she was a returning customer, she said no and that she had never bought from the store. He then proceeded to say that they are "appointment only" to try on a shoe??? But the other couple that walked, he immediately went to them and greeted them with a smile, completely ignoring my mother. From the words that they were exchanging , it seems like he was a previous customer that he personally knew. We left after that. The reason why I gave this a bad rating is not only bc of that experience but also bc if you are a business that only does APPOINTMENT ONLY shoe fittings (unless you are an existing PAYING customer), that that should be visibly stated in your shop window that can be easily seen in big letters. Then, I think that people going for walk ins have nothing to complain or be mad about when you say "appointment only". Obviously you are going to get angry customers walking out and posting crap reviews on your Yelp page. This is a shoe store in the middle of the arbor plaza,a lot of traffic comes through here and people will assume that you are a walk in shoe store that sells shoes to people who want to buy shoes. Am I wrong? I don't blame them for being upset or mad after they walk out thinking this guy is rude bc he is. he only helps (existing) customers that he THINKS will buy. What if you had an existing customer that didn't buy but a potential buying customer that would've have purchased something , but you didn't give them the time of day bc you THOUGHT your previous customer would purchase something instead. Just food for thought. I saw a response on one of the these 1 star reviews and he says something along the lines of how people come in and don't expect to buy anything and only come in and take his expertise and walk out and buy the shoe at another store...lol what? If the shoe want is in your store, I would buy it in your store if you would allow me to? Granted there are window shoppers, but if I'm going into a store I'm either looking for something to buy or I already know what I want to buy. You don't even let walk ins try on a shoe, what makes you think they'll buy anything or give your business a chance when you turn customers away with rudeness. Here's a thought, why not on top of all your existing customers, you help out the walk ins too? Even if you are an appointment only business, help your appointments out then why not help the walk in customer out? Recommend an appointment to them? Instead of having the mentality that walk in customers are " not serious buyers" or are there to just "take your expertise" or that they'll "waste your time" why not try and build your clientele? Instead of giving a middle finger to them and not caring that they leave unhappy. Then there is definitely a guarantee you lost potential customer. I recommend anyone looking to buy from here to read the replies he has left on the negative reviews. You will see for yourself what kind of person he is. Just from reading his responses, it seems like he just doesn't care about other customers except the ones that make an appointment or were referred from their doctor. Btw how are people supposed to know to make an appointment if you don't state that anywhere visibly around your shop? Change that and maybe YOU won't have to waste the customers time. read more

I had an experience here like I've never had in any store, ever, in my whole life. I walked in and browsed and found a pair of Clark flip clops that interested me. I saw the many many many signs in the store telling customers not to have food or drink or try on shoes so I brought the sample to the front and asked the woman if I could see the shoes in a 9. By this point no one had greeted me (small store, 2 people working, one couple buying shoes and one vendor waiting for an appointment). The woman responded to me that they had no 9s. When I said what do you have it in (flip flops usually run only in full sizes and some I fit 8 and some 9), she said they had no 9s in the whole store. I replied that actually I was hoping she had that particular shoe in an 8. She said no. At this point, she had not gone to the back to check anything out. The man (who was now finished with the couple buying shoes) cut her off and asked if I had an appointment. I told him I did not and then he asked if I'd been there before. I said no. He said, we don't work like this and I needed to have an appointment and it would be "too long" and that I shouldn't wait. At this point there are two people working in the store, a vendor waiting for an appointment (who was super nice as I chatted with him a moment) and me, just wanting to see a pair of flip flops in my size. I then asked, "It will be a while to see a pair of flip flops?" I did not think he was particularly polite up until now, but now he was downright rude, and said yes, and that I don't understand their business and I should go. I told him I thought he was very rude and I didn't understand his not wanting to sell me a pair of shoes and he told me he didn't care. I see from the other reviews here that he truly does not care. It worked out for me as I went over to Macy's and found the SAME EXACT pair. They were having a shoe sale and 4 people had called in sick (World Cup Fever?) and the poor salesman was running around trying to help everyone. He was so nice though and after settling on that I did need the size 8, he not only thanked me profusely for being patient, but gave me 20% off for understanding the understaffing situation. Even before the discount, the shoes were $10 less, so I saved a lot going across the street. Worked out for me!! As far as Comfort Shoe, the older couple who bought shoes right before my experience were getting in the car as I came out. They were so surprised by my experience. Makes me wonder, is this some kind of situation where he only likes referrals from podiatrists because it's more money from more seniors who are more easily steered in the direction he wants? Or was it just agism or sexism? I can't imagine any explanation why you wouldn't want money from someone who was clearly serious (I bought the same shoes less than 30 minutes later) and was respecting all of the many signs around the store--the ones telling you what not to do were more than the number of shoes. Bottom line is that the owner is the rudest store owner I've ever encountered in my whole life who missed a sale because of whatever personal issues he has. And the same shoes can me found at Macys or elsewhere so save yourself the grief. Oh and before the owner tries to reply that it was just my rudeness, I had my 5 year old with me, and I would repeat my entire conversation in front of his preschool class. So really, for whatever the reason, the owner does not value walk-in business. The signs in the store and the other comments posted here make me wonder if it's some kind of mental health issue or a scam. RESPONSE: 1 If your store requires appointments, you should add that to the 100s of other signs posted around the store about not trying on shoes or not having food or drink in the store. 2 I honestly didn't even notice you at first. I noticed the woman at the cash register and asked her for the shoe, so if there is any kind of prejudice, it's on your part. I would have had no problem waiting for a bit. I waited at least 10 at Macy's, then several more for the register. You said I didn't know how your store worked and I should make an appointment and come back or wait a "very long time." Since I'd already been told you have no size 9s and your tone made me believe you wanted me to leave the store, I did, very quickly. 3 Please post the video. There was no tantrum. I incredulously asked one time, "You aren't going to let me see any shoes?" When you replied no, I said, "I've never been to a shoe store that didn't let you see the shoes and I'll be posting this to Yelp." That's a tantrum? I left within the same minute you told me you wouldn't help me, so you're just making stuff up about my not leaving. How many people have to leave reviews on here that you're rude before you take that to heart? That maybe it's you and not them? Oh and PLEASE POST THE VIDEO. Today was our first visit to the Comfort Shoe Loft to purchase shoes for my husband. Visits are done by appointment which is great because it allows Mario to give his undivided attention to the customer. He is very thorough and provides lots of information about how to get the best fit. We were there for 1 1/2 hours and my husband found shoes that are very comfortable and supportive. I came here with my Aunt and Mom who are both returning customers from a while back. Mario was very nice, he made an account for me and let me wait my turn. You do have to wait your turn here or you can make an appointment for later. If you wait for Mario then you will get good service. Just don't interrupt him when he's with a customer and don't try on shoes without him. He knows what's best for you. If you follow those simple rules you should have a good experience here. I waited my turn like a good customer. The man in front of us had a bunch of shoes laid out on the floor. He had gout and Mario helped him try on every pair. Once he was done it was my turn. I've had swollen feet ever since my heart transplant and I've only been wearing slip on sandals. I choose some new sandals with a heel on it to give it some grip. Mario adjusted the shoe for me and even tried to wear out those hard stubborn sides so it would be more comfortable. While he was helping me a lady came into the store. She interrupted him as he was working. She wanted to try on the shoes on the display, which isn't allowed because he has to choose the right shoe for you in the back. He told her that she either needed to make an appointment or wait until he was done with his other customers that have been patiently waiting. One customer who had been waiting even told the woman you have to be patient and wait, but she kept on trying to try on the display shoes, and interrupting Mario which made him upset and kinda blow up at her. He ended up kicking her out of the store. Mario is very passionate about his profession. This shoe store isn't like most other stores where you can just walk in and try shoes. It is very personal and worth it in the end. I walked out of this store with a great new shoe that helped me walk ten times better than I had been. It got me walking more and my feet have been less and less swollen. This is a shoe store for people with problem feet or maybe just trouble walking. Just remember to be patient. Wow, I've never been treated so badly at a store. Ever. We walked in, we browsed. They had a nice selection of shoes - good quality, seasonal, etc. Very clean store, too. My mother asked to try on a shoe - she was told no, they don't have her size but they could order it. She said well, do you have another color I could try on in my size? Nope. He didn't even go in the back to look for the size. I asked if they carried wide widths since we know she needs a wide width. We were then told, "Numbers don't mean anything to me. You can get a shoe that says N for narrow but it fits an average foot just fine." My mom proceeded to say "Well I know I need a wide." And he said, "Like I said, numbers don't matter. I need to evaluate the foot and decide what will work." I guess a lifetime of having your own feet don't matter either? So I said, fine, we'll try it your way. He continued to explain about shoe size and I interrupted to say, "yes, I heard you, but I said we'll try it your way, so let's go. Let's do this." He said, "she's not willing. She says she knows." And I said, no, we're willing to give this a try, let's do it. He told he me didn't have time and had two reports to complete. So he is the only one who knows how to do proper shoe sizing but he won't show us because he has paperwork to do. I guess he doesn't like selling shoes as much as he likes feeding his own ego. I'm disappointed, I wanted to see these amazing shoe tricks he has up his sleeve. For the record, I am not dumb and I know that depending on the style, design, etc, my shoe size changes. I think most people are pretty aware of this because it's common fact. But when you have a wide foot that requires a wide shoe EVERY SINGLE TIME? You can pretty much rest assured you know your own foot. He thinks it's rocket science. I have to add - while we waited for him to tell us how dumb we are, he had a conversation with a woman looking for travel shoes. Actually, he stopped helping us to help her instead. And he treated her a lot nicer than he treated us. However, he sent her home get to her usual socks and usual shoes and then she had to come back to see his Magic Shoe Tricks. He said he'd even stay open late for her!!!!!! Sadly poor lady needed shoes for her trip in the morning. I wish I could have told this lady that there would be no shoes for her since he doesn't seem to keep any stock in the store. Or maybe he has them for her since he clearly liked her and not us. Look, I was nice to this guy even when he was a rude jerk to me. And when he responds to this post maybe he can explain why he was happy to help her and not me? Was it because she groveled and asked permission to witness his greatness? I mean, seriously, why does he need to see her old shoes and socks? LOL I think this store is a fraud. I have so much metal in my foot, I should stick to a fridge. I have a Certification, a Masters degree, a Doctorate degree, and a Board Specialty in Physical Therapy to take care of other people. I don't take care of my own feet. That's where Mario comes in. A fellow clinician referred him to me, and I'm so thankful she did. I had looked at her cute, comfy shoes and admired them, never thinking I could wear something like that with my reconstructed feet. My surgeon had recommended shoes post surgically, but what do I do a year after? Mario knows shoes and knows feet, then combines them with passion for people to be pain free. I then took my husband to Mario, with a history of Plantar fasciitis, and he is pain free. I took my son to Mario, because I'd like to stop the foot pain cycle for him. I found this store from a friend who has a tough time finding shoes that fit. She said, "Oh you have to go to this place and see Mario" He is amazing and will help you find a shoe that fits your foot! She advised me to tell him all the problems I have with my feet and ensured me he would help. Now, I have wide feet. For years I have been purchasing shoes too big to compensate for the width. Mario was an angel for my feet. He explained that I had wide feet so I had been purchasing shoes that were too big and that is why I had been getting blisters instantly with other shoes. He helped me pick out shoes for a trip to France where I would be on my feet all day walking. After following his advice I was able to walk everyday on trip pain free! After years of thinking I would never find a comfortable shoe I had! Today I went back and he treated me with the same respect as always. He knowes what he is doing and is sensitive to your needs. He doesn't want you trying on the shoes because he wants to be 100% sure you are getting the right fit. He is a certified podiatrist and truly cares about his clients foot needs. His approach is different from the other shoe stores that just care about selling you a shoe. He talked me out of the "cute" shoes that I wanted because he didn't want my feet to hurt. I was in there the other day, was so excited to see a store with a great inventory. But the Ass---- running it is wacked out and rude. He kept telling me to come back when i have time to buy, implying i was not serious enough or ready. I WAS ready. Am i buying a house ? Did i not look like i could afford your shoes? Finally a shoe salesman who knows about feet and how to fit a shoe. This is a family run business that asks you to make an appointment for your visit, the reason being that a single salesman can handle only so many customers at once. We were walk-ins, but had no trouble waiting until Mario, the owner/salesman, finished with those ahead of us with appointments. He found shoes for me that are still relatively cool, fit perfectly and keep me out of pain. I literally have 2 pairs of the same ones that I rotate between. I'm really surprised about the negative reviews. I went to Shoe Comfort Loft to get a pair of boots and I found Mario and his wife to be super nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. Mario definitely takes his time getting to know the customer's foot needs. With that said, it's a process to get to know the customers' needs. Mario takes foot measurements, asks about the use of the shoe, looks at how you walk, etc. For those that are in a hurry and simply want to try on a pair of shoes for a quick purchase, this is not that store. My husband has neuropathy in his feet and Mario takes very special care of him. Once you wear the shoes he helps you choose, you will be happy. My mother has chronic foot issues and has been seeing different specialists to find comfort; Mario really knows his stuff. My mother and I were able to find shoes that are extremely comfortable and alleviate current foot pain. I would definitely recommend comfort shoe loft. My mother and I have very different needs; my mother has chronic foot issues and I am a runner with no current pain (yet very interested in preventative health)... I was very impressed with this store! I have never had as good a shoe shopping experience is what I just had. The owner, Mario, it was very helpful and honest. I told him what I was looking for and he gave me a couple of options. He specifically said that the lower-priced option would probably be better for my feet. And he was right. It was not a situation where he was trying to sell me the more expensive product but instead was trying to sell me the product it was best for my foot. He had a lot of knowledge was very patient and was very kind. I walked out of there feeling that I got a great deal and knowing that I would be back again for my next pair of shoes. This place was recommended to me by a friend after recently being told I had plantar fasciitis, after the birth of my first baby. The owner recognized my friend immediately and seemed very personable. He wanted to engage me about what was happening with my feet and offer assistance, but I needed time to look around the store for a bit. Then, after about 10 minutes I approached him and explained my needs. He was very familiar with my situation and offered some more explanation than my dr did. He was very helpful and helped me find 2 sandals and some running shoes. He was patient while I figured out which shoe looked the cutest and was willing to order things from the catalog if I wanted other colors or styles. I appreciated his expertise, especially considering foot issues are new to me. I recommend this place, but it's a small store/ small staff so come on when you are NOT in a hurry. This place is a gem!!!! I have been coming here for years and I can't say enough great things about this sweet store! I feel so lucky to have found a place where they are so kind and truly know what shoes my feet need. I have very high arches, with a weak ankle thanks to years of ignored injuries. From the first time I walked into Comfort Shoe Loft, Mario and his wife have been very sweet and helpful. They are so knowledgable, and always know what shoes I need, it's like they know my feet better than I do! This place has such a personal touch, so rare to find in a business these days. Comfort Shoe Loft can keep what shoes you buy on file which is very helpful, and they are so sweet to my little girls! I never feel bad bringing my baby into this store, unlike many stores at the mall make you feel. Sometimes you have to wait, but only because they take so much time and care with getting each customer into the right shoes. It reminds me of how good shoe stores used to be, it's so rare these days to find a store like this. Honestly it saddens me that people would be so scathing over just waiting a little bit. So I went here to buy a pair of uggs, which they DO sell and its advertised they carry them on their front window. I asked to please try on a size 6. He asked me if I had been there and bought something before, which I had. I WAS in their computer as an existing customer. I was STILL told I was not allowed to try on the shoes!! But if I wanted to guess my size and order it without knowing if it would even fit they would give me a discount. A shoe store that won't let you try on any shoes?! Don't waste your time "guessing your size" here. I highly recommend Nordstroms. They have great shoes (that you can actually try on!) and you don't have to deal with these very sketchy business owners. I honestly suspect this store is just a cover for their real business, which is probably selling drugs out of their "shoe" warehouse, because NO legitimate shoe store 1) refuses to let you try on any shoes and 2) sends customers away empty handed that actually wanted to spend money! Clearly they don't need any money from shoe sales. Hmmmm very shady. And after reading the owners responses to the countless negative reviews its obvious he is never sorry or apologetic, and never learns any customer service skills. I am now actually glad he would not let me try on any shoes and I spent my hundreds elsewhere because I don't want to support a business where the owner treats the public like dirt on a regular basis. He was not particularly rude towards ME (I guess because I was an existing customer in the computer already) but you can see from all the other complaints on Yelp that he should not be working in any type of business where customer service is a key element, like retail. As many years as a retail manager I know how a good business should be run. Hopefully this place goes out of business and we get a shoe store in this center that lets you actually try on shoes and has friendly and helpful employees. read more

My poor feet were really hurting. I decided to go in the comfort loft to see if there were any shoes that could help. Mario was wonderful. He knows about feet! Fit me into a very cute sandal that were a welcome shoe for my poor feet. The next day I went back for some house shoes. Not as cute however they are wonderful. The first night I slept with them on they felt so good. A few days after I was back for another pair of nuetual sandels to end the summer. I will never look anyplace else for shoes. Mario has a great selection and not all the styles are on display. If this is your first visit to see Mario I would suggest you make an appt. My feet are feeling much better with the proper shoes. The owners ran late to open their store at 12pm on a Saturday. Waited outside for them to arrive. When they finally showed up, the man proceeded to help another customer and ignored me, when I was first to arrive to their store. All I wanted to know was if they had a specific shoe I was looking for. I waited again for him to help me, because he said they sold the heels I needed and were stocked in the back. When he finally finished helping the other customer, he approached me very argumenatively saying they help customers with appointments first. It didn't say anywhere at their store that you had to have an appointment for them to help you. Horrible customer service and horrible treatment by the owners. My mom and I have been shopping with Mario and Roseanne for MANY years and will never shop anywhere else! We both have bad feet, mine are terrible because I have high arches and Mario always seems to find the right shoe for me! Once you are a customer there, they treat you right!! In regards to the bad reviews, if you owned your own store, you can run it the way you want to, just as Mario and Roseanne run theirs! So what if they want to take new customers on appointment only! After shopping in this store for several years, I went to this store today & Mario read me the riot act for not buying what he showed me. I didn't like the shoes he showed me on the previous visit and today he was so rude because I didn't buy last time. He as much as told me to leave and not come back. If the shoes aren't comfortable and/or I don't like them why should I buy them even if he did take his time to wait on me. I have spent a lot of money in this shop previously. If you want personalized service from Knowledgeable people then this is the place to go. I have never been to a shoe store where i have recieved better service than from Comfort Shoe Loft. Thank you Mario and Roseanne. I may save 5 or 10 dollars at other stores or on the internet but you just can not beat the service you get here from the knowledgeable staff. They absolutely go out of their way to make sure you get the right shoe for your foot type. Satisfaction is guaranteed they maybe busy but trust me they are worth the wait. So many people are so used to bad service that they believe it's the norm. Comments about Mario having a heavy accent i find are totally irrelevant as to the quality of service he offers. Any shoe store worth their salt would absolutely ask to measure your foot for the correct fit. Had he not measured the reviewers foot they would have complained how Mario failed to measure their foot. You cannot please all of them. Negative people will always find negative things to say. By the way my girlfriend and I have been shopping for our shoes from Comfort Shoe Loft for the last 4 years. My girlfriend and I found them by accident ( BEST discovery ever ) and we have NEVER had a problem with Mario or Roseanne. You will never meet nicer or more proffessional people who actually care about what you put on your feet in the shoe business than Mario and Roseanne. I just read Mario A of Comfort Shoe Lofts response. I find it amazing that he still believes that spraying the uggs with this "off brand" sealer is okay. He is not the one that spoke with the manufacturer... in fact while preparing my return via online, I had a question for the manufacturer and I called them once again. I explained my situation for the second time... speaking with a different representative than I had the first time and she said exactly what the first rep had said... that what the owner of this store is doing is wrong! She stressed to me that once the ugg is sprayed with an off brand sealer that the warranty on the boots is void! She asked that in my return explanation that I make sure to include information on the owner of the store and what he's doing with the spray. Now... correct me if I'm wrong but, if what Mario is doing is okay (as he seems to insist), then why would the manufacturer tell me that it's completely wrong? What do they have to benefit from this? Mario is implying that I "sloshed around in the pouring rain" while wearing them. Now seriously... uggs are not cheap and would I really slosh around in the rain wearing a brand new pair? As I stated in my review, I simply wore them AFTER a rain and the tips got wet. They dried... NOT with a blow dryer... NOT in front of a fireplace and NOT in direct sunlight... ONLY by air on a shelf in my closet. Again, as stated in my first review... I have been wearing uggs for over 20 years now and I have 9 pair in my closet at this very moment. There's a big difference in knowing shoes by WEARING them and knowing shoes by SELLING them. Since Mario is so good at giving examples, I have one of my own... it's like selling a car that you've never driven and telling the buyer that it's a really good ride. After 20 years and owning many pair, I know my uggs and I know what they can handle... I know that getting a little bit of water on the tips of them should NOT leave behind brown stains. They were never "soaked"... getting suede soaked will leave the suede stiff and hardened. The suede on my boots is still soft and pliable only now, it's stained. Now... to respond to some of Mario's accusations... the "type" of person that I am and my "expectations"... I'm simply a consumer who walked into a store and spent close to $200 on a pair of boots. My expectations were simple... to be able to wear my boots more than twice. I find it very disturbing that this man believes that he knows my "type" and feels as if he has the right to judge me... not very professional in my opinion. I never once insulted him or insinuated that he was a certain "type" of person... I only stated the facts of what happened. As far as me implying that he "snuck" outside to spray my boots... once again, not the case... I was only stating the facts of what happened. He never ask me if I wanted them sprayed. No guessing... no conjectures, no assumptions... only the facts. Please think twice before you walk into this store... would you want this to happen to you? read more

Rudest salesman ever !!! We walked into this store and a guy with a heavy accent received us with a warning of not trying the shoes on because "he had to measure our feet first". This was after he asked us if we spoke English. I mistakenly thought he just wanted to make sure we tried the right size. I took a pair of shoes and asked if he knew the model; he asked me if I wanted to know to go buy them somewhere else; he then said that if I wanted to try them on he had to measure my feet (the measuring thing was getting a bit heavy); I then told him to go ahead and measure them, he then replied that he would do it only if I was sure I was going to buy; I said "forget it!" Right after that, my mother found a pair she liked and asked if he had those in her size, the guy replied in his heavy accent that he only had left the one pair she was holding; I asked if she could try them on, and... you guessed it, he said he had to "measure her feet". Then we knew the real reason of his compulsive measuring syndrome: He said he had to make sure we didn't have some infection or some cut in our feet before we try shoes on. As we were getting out of there, he pointed to some sort of diploma on the wall and said in his almost unintelligibly accent that he was a certified pediatrician or something like that. I thought I was in an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm. This place must make its money on people that are referred to them pediatricians or something like that but I'm not sure they are "a fit" for somebody just looking to buy a pair or shoes. I don't doubt the shoes there are good, the prices a bit above average and I'm certainly not going back. read more

Went to this shoe store looking for a pair of Naots I could take on an extended trip to Europe. (I wear them currently and am a satisfied Naot wearer). The salesman was busy with a customer and the sales lady was just standing behind the counter. The only other customer in the store was a female with a companion. I was not greeted or acknowledged so I took it as an opportunity to just browse. When I finally found a pair of Naots I thought would be suitable I asked her if they had them in a size 40, of course I had to get measured, fine by me, but I am either a 39 or a 40. How many times have you tried on shoes and they bring the adjacent sizes so you can experience both. Well she goes to the back room and comes back and tells me that they did not have them in my size. That it was last years model and they do not have very much left. She wouldn't even tell me "I've only got it in a 37". No, these people act like knowing and devulging your shoe size is a federal crime. Then she answers the phone and proceeds to help that customer on the phone, minutes rolling by and turning into a 10 minute wait for her to hang up and come back and help me. I noticed the shoe I inquired about was a size 39 so she's still looking thru the stock and catalogs, etc for her phone customer, so I put the shoe on the ground and start to slip it on. Whoa, her husband (I'm assuming it's her husband from the stream of yelp reviews), gets "all no you don't" "that shoe will not work for you" and "you have to be measured first". I told him I was measured and that I wanted to try this 39 on and besides I've been rudely neglected by his wife while she proceeded to take a call and endlessly help that customer. He went thru his "spill" of how he is a podiatrist and "did a doctor send you in?" Nope, just wandered in on my own, didn't think I needed permission or an appointment to buy shoes. He responds to my complaint that she took a call and was giving endless time to that customer instead of sticking with me and assisting me by saying she "had" to be on the phone because it could have been a doctor that called in and they "have" to take calls from doctors first. At this point I should have just left, it's obvious they do not care anything about customer service and that they are extremely rude. The shoe I was semi interested in he was sticking with his story "will not work for you", I just it's a secret as to why it wouldn't work for me and I'm not privileged to be privy to that information. And the Dansko, well, they do not have it in my size, when do I need it by? I said December because that is when we are leaving on our trip. At this point he just got silent, put the shoes away and was obviously finished with me. Weird, this guy is weird, big time weird. Some kind of narcassitic shoe weirdo. Big deal if he's a podiatrist, he lacks what it takes to be a customer service friendly agent. Now I can't wait for him to reply to this as I saw that is his M/O and how he'll magically twist what occured into a fiction story. Let's nominate him for an Oscar for that folks! I actually was debating whether or not to bother writing this review since most likely my words will be twisted around but here it goes: I walked into the Comfort Shoe Loft on a recommendation from a friend. I went over to the counter, there were two women and a man standing there. I told him I was interested in purchasing some shoes that would fit my orthotics. He then went back to the counter while I had a seat and began taking off my shoes. He asked me what my foot problem was. I stated that I had osteo-arthritis with a bone spur. He stated that he knew a lot about feet. He squatted down in front of me and showed me where most arthritis happens in feet. I then pointed to the middle of my foot and stated that was where my injury is. He asked to see my orthotics and then said (under his breath) I hope they are a full orthotic because the other ones aren't good. As soon as I took them out of my shoe he said they were the ones he was hoping they weren't. Then he stated that he makes orthotics and I said that I was just using the orthotics in the interim until I could have surgery. He said he could show me an athletic type shoe. I said that I wanted a more dressy shoe and indicated the shoes to the left of me (the mary jane types, such as Naot). He said he couldn't sell me a dressy shoe because he didn't feel that it would work for me. I was wondering how he would know that it wouldn't work for me when he didn't even know me? I told him that I already have an athletic shoe and that I want shoes for work. He then told me that he wouldn't sell me a shoe because he didn't feel comfortable with it. He then turned around and walked the other direction. This wasn't a matter of being too busy, there wasn't anyone else in the store at 4PM on a Saturday afternoon. I definitely would not recommend this store, especially if you have already seen a doctor and know what you want. It seems to me that this store takes advantage of people who know they want a comfortable shoe, don't mind spending money and either don't have foot problems or have foot problems they are unaware of. This way the owner can tell you what to buy from his "expertise". My husband and I are small business owners ourselves and I am appalled at how this person stays in business with the horrible customer service he provides in the store as well as the retorting comments he makes on people's reviews. I was completely comfortable with spending $400 on shoes because I knew I needed them and that they would be expensive, but I guess I will be spending my money elsewhere. read more

I visited the store probably 8-9 months ago and didn't write a review then. But recently one of my friend's mother reached out to me with the same foot condition as myself, plantar fasciitis, and was asking for some recommendations on slipper I bought that I had mentioned to my friend were very comfortable for me. I have since started shopping at a different store for my shoes since this store is far from my home and office. It is close to my friend's mother and was coming to yelp to remember the name of the store and location. It is interesting to me that Mario has a response to most posts and actually does come across arrogant. I did find some of that when I shopped in his store. But some of his feedback was helpful and I ended up buying 5 pairs of shoes. But you do feel he is a bit condescending, he treats you like a child and is a know it all. He doesn't make you feel welcome. I am glad to see that he has a dedicated group of people that come to his store because I am not sure he would be successful or still in business if he didn't. In my opinion I would say some of that may be because there aren't many shoe stores out there that cater to foot problems and so you take what you can get. But based on his disposition, I do have some concerns in sending my friend's mother to his store and will suggest other shoe stores. This is neither a positive or negative review, just my perception of my visit while I was there and my decision not to recommend to others I personally know to visit this establishment. read more

Mean, mean, and very rude. He told me i am not a serious shoe buyer. Dont touch the shoes. Dont try them on. I dont understand why he would not let me purchase or try on any shoes. I really needed at least three pairs. Please do not shop here and encourage his outrageous behavior. You few people that rave about him. Why would he pick you as his favorites?
