It was my first time here. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was nice. But toward the end, before I had even finished eating, I turned my head to say something, and my food was gone. When I looked back, the waitress had taken my plate without even asking. After I spoke to her about it, she even seemed like she wanted to give the plate back to me--except she had already taken it to another table and started cleaning it. And when we stopped her, she placed a half-finished beer bottle from another table onto mine while talking to me. I really don't understand her logic--doesn't she think that's unsanitary? The food was phenomenal! Service non existent. Server auto grated me for 20% on a table of five. And the service was so poor, that we waited over 20 minutes for the server to come back and run the credit card after dropping off the bill. Plates still on the table while we wait. Don't expect a fine dining experience, more like a fast food order without hearing your specials or trying to upsell some drinks. It's experiences like these where you miss having a mediocre server who is at least trying to make some tips. 20% auto gratuity was shown on the bill as a service fee. I asked the server whether that is a tip or an actual service fee charged by the restaurant. Server pretended to not know what it was, and than the manager answered my questions with "you can tip later!" The restaurant is a great size for large parties, reservations are available. There is a full size bar and a plethora of menu items to choose from. From traditional Mexican dishes to refreshing seafood items. We first ordered from the Happy Hour appetizers. We enjoyed the Pork Belly & Carne Asada street tacos. The pork belly taco blew us away! So much we decided to order the Ontario Quesadilla with pork carnitas and it did not disappoint! The tacos were your average street taco size and come with a tomatillo sauce on the side. The Ontario quesadilla comes on a altar of a platter complete with fresh guacamole, shredded cabbage and chipotle aioli sauce as well as flour tortillas on the side. The outside of the quesadilla is actually grilled cheese that is encrusted to a golden bronze. The crispy crunchy cheese envelopes the most delicious tender, juicy pork carnitas. You definitely need the steak knives to dive in and make yourself a delicious flour tortilla taco. Every bite was delicious! We also tried the shrimp ceviche tostada that is actually a good size bowl of shrimp ceviche served with crackers and mini tostadas as well as the cutest tiny cup of hot sauce. A few packets of ketchup were also on the platter but we didn't need them. We ordered the chicken taquitos and they were ok, two full size taquitos cut in half, sauces and salsa was good. The spring mix salad that the taquitos were placed on was actually delicious with the chipotle aioli as a dressing! I enjoyed a Mexican candy shot, a vodka cranberry and my husband enjoyed a few vodka tonics. Well drinks and shot were your average cocktails. For dessert we enjoyed the free churros that you receive complimentary as you check in to Yelp app. The churros were flavorful, the ice cream that came with the churros was pistachio with whipped topping. All yummy. We want to thank Daniel P. who was our server from start to finish, he was very attentive to our every request, especially turning on the ceiling fans for us as the restaurant was a bit warm throughout our visit. Got the host up front that don't know what's going on talkin bout "iono ask your server" The reviews must be made by the servers or managers themselves trying to hype the place up cause the food was mid. My friend and I decided to come and try this out. We ordered the shooter (Lemon Drops and Kamikazes) they were delicious. The chips and salsa were good just needed a little salt. The chicken Taquitos were delicious flavorful and crunchy. The Supreme carne asada was very flavorful and was a lot of food but I enjoyed every bite. Originally wanted to go to Tortas Sinaloa, but they were closed. Seen this place was in the same shopping center. I decide to get some tacos to go. Ordered two asada, and two chicken. I'll start with the plus! The staff is great; super friendly, attentive, and personable. The interior is clean and no longer has the sticky floor problem that Limericks was known for lol Cons: the food was not good for the price. Super expensive for portion sizes and not the best quality. We ordered carnitad fries and queso fondido with choritzo. Both dishes were a gloopy mess of cheese, not much flavor, and kinda cold for being served on a skillet. The queso fondido only can with 2 small tortillas for easily 2 cups of melted cheese. Any more tortillas would be extra. The drinks were good, got margaritas. The drinks were small and not very strong, but the mix was good and I can see ordering other cocktails. read more

Long time ago- My husband & I stopped in this place nearby-but it was SO LOUD you could barely order! And that auto-tuned -Courvoisier -booty -thong shakin music was SO annoying-we left! Tonight, I went on Yelp & honestly there aren't too many options in Ontario -So we tried it again-BECAUSE-the Yelp reviews were great- The food was amazing! Started with poke tostadas (ahi tuna, served on a fried wonton) then a carne asada salad and although we were pretty much full - I had to try a bit more- waiter suggested the Pork Belly taco and the shrimp "gobernado" tacos (spelling?) That pork taco was one of the BEST TACOS I HAVE EVER HAD!! Sooooo tender & flavorful with red pickled onions- and that salsa was killer with the perfect heat! But NOW- the LOUD ASS MUSIC!!?? Ughhhh- check out the video- lol Asked if they could turn it just a wee bit down a few times & although they said they would- they didn't- and they actually were gonna sit us RIGHT UNDER the SPEAKER at first -yikes! Anyway- it's a shame they blast them half naked booty dumb ass videos with the annoying 'music' - cause the foods KILLER! We went for a nice Mexican lunch at this establishment only to find out they serve brunch on FRI/SAT/SUN. Fri???? So, the menu is limited for brunch. No exceptions on brunch for lunch on a Friday as well, unless you come after 1 PM. We noticed this as the place was fairly empty; however, after 1PM, that place started to fill up. The manager is a puppet and would not even listen to reason when we asked about a simple Mexican lunch that would be served in 30 minutes. His behavior toward us was very rude. Even our waitress looked at him and could not believe what he was telling us. So we finally ordered. Our waitress was very nice. We had the Ribeye sandwich and another beef dish. The Ribeye was excellent. The other meat dish we had was good (I forgot the name of it). One item of note: if you do not like Chipotle, you may not like the chips as they are doused in Chipotle v salt, and their salsa is not a pico but a very heavy Chipotle flavor and a hotter green sauce. Inside is also VERY loud as they have music blaring at a very high level. Overall, our experience was very poor. I wish we could have just had a regular lunch. read more

The food looks good, but that's all. The level of service I received was absolutely horrendous and the quality of the food was subpar.  Actually, it was awful. For starters, after being seated with menus, no one came to my table to take my drink or food orders for over 10 minutes. Eventually, I  flagged down a server and asked if I could place my order. She informed me that according to her software our table had already been helped, and that's why she didn't wait on us. Really? So, if I never spoke up we wouldn't have gotten service at all. For an appetizer I tried the bone marrow tacos. The bone marrow itself was nonexistent. There was a tiny sliver of bone marrow covered by a spoonful of dry carne asada. For $18 I expected more than a giant pile of cilantro and white onions. After eating the "tacos" I set the bones on the edge of the table to be cleared along with the empty margarita glass. Server after server walked by my table and not one of them took  2 seconds to remove the dirty plates from my table. After a while, 2 of my 3 main courses arrived (why not all 3?) and I asked to have the dishes removed when my server started to walk away without clearing them. With 3 people in my party including myself, we sat there and waited for the 3rd entrée to come out so everyone could eat together. . . and waited and waited and waited. As our food got cold I finally said this is ridiculous and once again flagged down my server and asked where our third dish was. She said she'd check on it and after a while it finally arrived at the table. The pork shank lacked flavor and the accompanying beans were watery. The grilled octopus was properly cooked but it wasn't good. The service was appalling and the food was worse. One of my guests spent a portion of the meal vomiting in the restroom after eating the octopus and the braised pork shank. Surprisingly, the sushi was the best thing we had at this Mexican restaurant, although that's not saying much since no one finished their meals or took home any leftovers.  Do yourself a favor and skip Compadres Cantina altogether. read more
