Great little breakfast and coffee spot. We chose this spot because they allowed dogs in the patio. Our pup was provided with water and scrambled eggs. We got the classic (breakfast burrito) and the French toast platter. Everything was so good! We also got coffee to go. I got the honeybee and it was just what I needed. Service was amazing and quick. Servers were really nice and friendly. Definitely check this place out.

"Large" waffle that takes up less than 1/4 of the plate. Over cooked bacon and stone cold waffle.

Probably won't be going back. Tried again for the third time. Got the waffle, bacon, scrambled eggs. Waffle was warmer than previous visit. Bacon was still severely over cooked, almost as if it's pre-cooked in a mold and reheated. Also overheard one of the staff tell a customer that they ran out of waffles. Do you mean to tell me that they don't even make their own waffles? My guess is that because of the limited kitchen, a lot of food is prepared elsewhere. I really did give this place a chance after my first visit which was quite good. However, when I want a hearty homemade breakfast, this won't be the place to go.

Great little place for breakfast! Very cozy inside. It fills up quickly since it's a small space. Food is great! Would definitely recommend!

The Plain Jane breakfast sandwich lists "scrambled eggs" as one of the components, but this egg was cooked in a mold most likely in the microwave, or maybe in an oven. A scrambled egg is a specific thing; it's prepared over low heat and pushed around resulting in fluffy curds. The egg in this sandwich was like an airy sponge and was very bland. I don't think there was any butter or salt or anything. It wasn't *bad* it was just not good.

Exceptional Experience @ Compass Rose Cafe in Brookings, OR. !! First time patrons as a party of 4 on a Saturday morning in May. We were promptly greeted and instructed to order at the counter after we decided on our meals. The space itself is wonderfully decorated with unique and fun artwork. It definitely kept us busy with delight. I loved the scenic views playing on their tv as well. Our order was served pretty quickly. Specialty drinks were delicious. Each of us thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast meals. Very clean restaurant throughout. Great use of space, including single person bathroom. We look forward to returning the next time we're in town! Thank you!!

Great place for breakfast or brunch. I had the ham and Swiss breakfast sandwich. My wife had the avocado toast both were fantastic. Great service. You walk up to the counter to order and they bring your food out. Limited seating inside. Some outside seating but traffic noise.

What a quaint little place. The atmosphere was so calming and pleasant. We had breakfast on a Sunday morning with a great cup of coffee. The staff seemed to work so well together and friendly. Absolutely feel like we found a little gem of a cafe.

Might have been bad timing, but the coffee was weak and the Gluten Free portions were significantly smaller. Burritos looked great, though.

The place was super busy when I arrived there were people waiting outside, which is always a good sign but since I was dining solo, I got seated right away with no wait at all. The atmosphere inside is warm, cozy, and welcoming, with really cool décor featuring cars and car photos that give the restaurant personality and a fun, nostalgic vibe. It feels comfortable rather than fancy, the kind of place where you can relax, sip your coffee, and enjoy your food without feeling rushed. I ordered the shrimp and Swiss cheese omelette with jalapeño, and it was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and perfectly cooked. The portion was generous, and it came out piping hot and surprisingly fast considering how busy they were. The coffee was amazing too rich, fresh, and exactly what you want with a hearty breakfast. What really stood out was the service. The servers were attentive, friendly, and on top of everything despite the crowd. They made sure coffee stayed filled, checked in at the right moments, and kept things moving smoothly without making it feel rushed or chaotic. Another big plus: the prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality and portion sizes. It's rare to find a place that balances great food, fast service, cozy ambiance, and affordability this well. Overall, I'd easily rate it around 4.5 stars. If you're driving along Highway 101 or anywhere near Brookings, this spot is absolutely worth the stop. It's busy for a reason great food, great vibe, and great service all in one place.

Pleasantly surprised. my wife had the cheese quesadilla which is one of the better quesadillas i've tasted...perfectly cooked. I had the 3 layer hero sandwich which I thoroughly enjoyed. The potato salad that came with it was poor and without taste. If there is a dessert menu, we never saw it. service was top notch and she made time to answer a few questions. I would definately go back there. The one thing I noted, the view of the Pacific was hampered by the dirtyness of the windows. They could use a thorough cleaning inside and out.

I suggest asking for their green salsa to top it off. The biscuits and gravy half order was also generous although the gravy could use a little more flavor. The food generally was very good and our service was excellent. But they really need to address the condition of the restaurant and the bathroom. The booths are obviously worn and one was completely unavailable because the seats were missing. Worse than that was the condition of the bathroom. We ate breakfast at 9:30 AM and it was obvious the bathroom had not been cleaned from the night before. It was disgusting. It always gives one a slightly uncomfortable feeling about the overall attention to cleanliness elsewhere. I hope the owners will make an effort to bring the facility up to par with the food. Then this would be five stars all the way.

We had such a wonderful time at fat Irish kitchen! I was in Brookings for work with my wife…read moretraveling with me and we just didn't know where to go, our hotel receptionist said we should come here and man are we glad we listened! The vibe is exactly what you expect from a awesome little Irish pub. Lots of beer artwork on the walls, cool little tree of life art, and the friendliest staff you'll ever find. The bartender Holly was the most friendly bartender I've had in I feel like a decade or more, and the bar back Josh was pretty awesome himself. He gave us some wonderful tips for some other places to eat at as we travel around the state, and all in all both of them gave us some pretty epic conversation. We almost never said at the bar, we decided to this time and I'm so glad that we did! The food was so so, nothing to really write home about but nothing really wrong either. It's bar food, you get what you expect when you go to an Irish pub. Taco Tuesday was well worth it, I'm a pescatarian so I had the fish taco and then tried their awesome potato taco and enjoyed the potato taco the most actually! I wouldn't pay what they normally charge for these tacos, they're pretty basic and the tortillas are not grilled nearly enough, but Taco Tuesday made three tacos only $10.50 and I could mix and match between all the different types so that was totally worth it! My wife tried the honey mustard chicken salad and unfortunately it did not live up to what she had hoped for. It was a really basic salad the veggies were fresh which was fortunate but it was basic, nothing was really seasoned, the honey mustard dressing didn't taste like mustard at all and the chicken was basic breaded chicken that tasted like it was from Dairy Queen. It was fresh, but still tasted like it was from Dairy Queen. All In all, the drinks and the bartender will definitely keep us coming back. Next time it'll just be for some drinks and some fries probably, but I definitely can't wait to try the steamer clams with jalapenos.

They open at 11am and we came before 11:30 and there was only 1 other couple seated. The waitress was very polite and friendly. We were seated quickly, given menus and water. One lady in our group can't eat gluten and has a few other allergies so she ask if she could eat the "soup of the day". Our waitress replied "I'm pretty sure". My friend asked if she was sure or pretty sure. She said she would check but never came back. Then the weird part happened. We had placed our orders, the other tables were now full, but nobody had food, except that one party that arrived before us. We assume there was some problem in the kitchen but she never came back to explain or apologize for the very long wait. Not to us, or anyone. When she eventually brought the food out, there was no apology or acknowledgement for the long wait. And she brought my friend a salad instead of the soup which she had inquired about. She did explain that she couldn't get an answer to her allergy question so she wanted to be safe. But wouldn't you tell the customer before just bringing the food? Anyway the food was all delicious!! I ordered the halibut sliders which were cooked perfectly. The "soup of the day" was okay but needed salt and pepper, which we requested. They brought us 2 pepper shakers, no salt. My wife had pasta bolognese which she loved. Her salad was bland. So overall the food was very good. The service was below par
