Beware of this Business. I have a basic laptop and bought some memory for him to install. Over the phone, he told me "$50 or $75 labor" to install the memory I bought, assuming my memory is the right item which it was. I go there and 30 minutes later he hands me a bill for more than $130 labor and denies the previous quote. He eventually reduces the amount, then tells me a story about "Chinese students" who expect him to work for free and that he "didn't expect that from me." This guy will give you quote to draw you into his shop, dramatically inflate the original quote, quote fictitious previous dialogue, then insult you when you eventually pay well above the high range of his original quote. read more

I wish I could give this place zero stars. Horrible service. I went in to get a keypad button fixed on my laptop and was told it would be $55 if they could simply replace the button. Turned out they couldn't fix it without replacing the entire touchpad, which would have been closer to $200. Fair enough. But since I didn't have time to wait, I declined, at which point they tried to charge me $95 ... for no repairs at all. I was told that this $95 would be credited towards future repairs if I decided to bring the laptop back. When I protested, they still insisted on charging me the original $55 even though no work had been done on the computer. Really unprofessional ... if they had treated me better I would have been delighted to patronize a local, independent computer shop, but as it is I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

My Macbook pro's speakers were not working. I thought I was lucky to have purchased the extended warranty, but the Apple store refused warranty due to "water damage" (which is complete bs). I went in to get my iPhone screen fixed last weekend. The pricing was pretty reasonable and didn't take more than a couple of hours to fix. While I was in there, I decided to ask the main guy there about a PC rig I was building. He offered me great advice and even helped me test it out once I had put it all together. Free of charge! I can see that there are negative reviews on this company, but since this posts were made years ago, I can't see their complaints being valid now. So I called on a Monday to see about getting my laptop fixed, I talked to Ben, and he was very professional and after listening to the problem, he told me to bring it in. I had an issue with it starting up and while I was demonstrating that problem for him I ended telling him about my fan and how it's pretty much dead. Ben took the time to answer all my questions and very helpful. He quoted me two hours worth of work and told me I could pick it up on Wednesday. The next day he called to let me know how it was going, what exactly the problem the and had even cleaned out my laptop for me. After choosing how to proceed, (looked like it was going to be a wipe and data back up) he then called me once again to tell me that he got it back to how it was before and if I still wanted to proceed with the wipe, I did proceed with the wipe, however I thought it was pretty cool that he did that. I called Wednesday to make sure my laptop was done, and he told me to come in and I could pick up. Ben told me it took a little bit longer than the two hours, in addition to the cleaning. I actually offered to pay for it, however he told me, "I quoted you two hours, so that's what I'm going to charge you." I really appreciated that and as a small business owner, I know how important it is to keep your word, so I was really impressed. AVOID THIS PLACE. They charge 75 dollars to even take a look at the computer, before letting you know if they can fix it or not. They completely dismantled it and when I went back in to pick it up (after they told me they could fix it for 400 dollars extra, after the 75 I already paid) it wasn't ready. This happened AGAIN the next week. Put the damn thing back together!! And here's the kicker. They stole my parts! When my dad went to fix it himself, they were gone, as was the sticker with my Windows identification numbers on the back. So thank you, computer place. I had them remove an old1999 hard drive to prepare an old notebook for recycling. They did it for me for a flat rate. You pay to have someone fix stuff you can't do yourself. I did and they did and I left happy. I'm sure some problems are more complicated and data/disaster recovery must be really stressful, but I was happy with the work they did for me. (Personally, I think we should all be using external hard drives more. They are a lot less expensive than having anxiety attacks and paying for repairs.) I would go back here tho. I agree with everyone who says avoid this place. I have a toshiba laptop with a 3 year extended warranty with service express and accidental damage protection. There is supposed to be a 24 hour turnaround and full coverage on my laptop. I needed a new hard drive and wireless and DVD player. All they did was replace some parts and give me my computer back with no operating system. They didn't even fix half the things that were wrong and said "well pay us to install the software and we'll do it, otherwise its your problem". Toshiba says they should have put in the software per manufacturer specs! Employee even threatened me when I asked to speak to the manager. I ended up taking them to court. read more

My laptop's screen was experiencing some flickering issues. It was still usable but very annoying. I brought my computer in to get the screen replaced thinking it would be a relatively simple procedure. A few days and $250 later I got my laptop back. The screen display worked fine but the touchscreen no longer worked (I payed extra for a touchscreen replacement) and somehow the touchpad of all things was broken as well. One of the screen hinges was also cracked. The owner suggested I tape it back together. My laptop is now less usable than it was before. The owner offered to let me bring it back in for him to fix it but by the time it's fixed i'll probably have spent nearly enough to buy a new laptop which I think i'll just do at this point. I should have checked other business rating websites before using this business. read more

I was panicking as my Toshiba laptop wouldn't start, then it started, but with a message that the hard disk was failing and I should back up immediately then replace the disk. The back up kept failing before completing and I was really afraid I'd lose all my info. Took it to the geeks at Best Buy,and they said I should take it home and try again. They could sell me drive and new software, but couldn't guarantee that my data would be saved. So I called Toshiba and they referred me to the Computer Clinic Center as an authorized facility. Took the laptop there. They verified that the disk was failing. Backed up all my info to their machine, 'shadowed' the system so that my software was saved, installed the new disk and then loaded my data and software on to it. Eureka! It now works. Tragedy averted. It took quite a bit longer than originally estimated (I paid extra for same-day service). And she fixed the loose hinges of the laptop also. A couple of small problems that I hadn't mentioned initially still exist, but since I didn't mention them.... And I'm glad to have the computer back in working order. read more

This past week was the second time I had a computer problem. 6 months ago my laptop screen went out and i had to get to a meeting that afternoon. The man was very helpful and super knowledgeable. While i was in tears, he told me no worries go home get ready and he replaced the screen for me within 3 hours. I doubled the upfront cost on my own for the rush job cost get it done. My laptop was perfectly repaired and my meeting was a success! I was afraid after what happened at best buy years prior and I rather pay more for quality of service and get to know the people who work on my computers. Last week my Dell home computer totally crashed. windows fetal error and I could not get it to boot back up. I called the Computer Clinic immediately and told He I am the girl who was crying and almost missed the meeting a few months prior. He remembered me and my laptop. I had the chance to unplug everything and bring the tower over. I was so frustrated with all the cords accidentally knocked over my 32 inch TV used as a computer screen and broke the HMD1 cord. the head was totally bent. I think I paid almost $70 for that cord at Best Buy. In any case Mary came over bought with her a used HDM1 cord for $30, took out the hard drive and did all the repairs necessary. Saved my computer. Total cost was $415 including the cord and i rounded it up $30. all my documents were safe and my computer has no issues. Fantastic JOB! Looking at the ratings below - i think people should really consider writing positive reviews more often when a job is well done. I am a thrifty shopper and I also know that every store has an upfront cost. My entire computer hard drive was not recovered at large store 2007, and to top it of they also threw it away! Not to mention the fact that i paid several hundred $'s spoke to 5 different people stood in line for ever, and the last person to break the news to me was rude as hell! I prefer small business Mom and Pop shops who have been located in the same place for a long time; who know me by name and have gone out of their way to help me. read more

This was a good place to take your computer to be fixed. I had a Samsung chromebook that would boot up and show the chrome screen and then go to black and the log in screen would never come up. They were able to fix this weird problem within 24hrs. They were nice and trustworthy. I had to pay $95 for the technician time. I do think that if they trouble shoot your computer and they can't fix it, you still would need to pay for the tech's time, so that is something to keep in mind and consistent with some of the other comments. The location is convenient near the metro and hours are good to be able to pick up and drop off after work. If your computer is broken and you want it fixed, give this place a try. read more

I found CCC through a friend who had a great experience recently. The shop is on the second level of the building and Tom is the owner. Very nice man who took the time to explain the process and solutions to consider. Prices are reasonable, considering data recovery is complicated and time consuming. I am a happy customer! read more

Brought my harddrive in to get some data removed. Was told it was corrupted and that I should come in to see for myself before I am charged extra for data recovery. Every single file that that the manager claimed was corrupted worked fine. Paid $100 to get my harddrive back. read more

I took my desktop to the Center because Dell Tech support, after several hours on the phone, advised that the only hope was to download all my files and documents, reformat the hard drive and reinstall Windows XP, and all my files and docs. The Center instead anaylzed the problems with XP and fixed it, presenting me with a working desktop that saved me from having to reinstall and update all my programs. They put Dell tech support, and in my opinion, the "Geeks" to shame. I highly recommend them. read more

Charged me around $100 just to look at my computer (and judging by previous comments, that amount varies depending on the day) and charged me close to $200 to fix my computer. Claimed parts cost over $100 each. Did an e-bay search a few days later and found that parts cost $15 total. Wish I had know this early, but I hope this review will save a few people. This review is long overdue and very interesting. How did I find these guys? Well apparently they are a legend among the AU students, being on the same block for close to 30 years, but as a GW student I wasnt aware of them until a near catastrophe. For our honeymoon a couple years ago, we bought a "waterproof" camera. Well the day before coming back home the I could not review the pictures on the camera. It kept giving me an error. I was desperate and called a couple camera stores, but they said the memory was damaged and nothing could be done. Until a friend from AU suggested Computer Clinic Center, she had a similar issue with her USB thumb drive which they were able to recover. When I walked in the owner thought I lost a thesis or term paper, when I told them it was our honeymoon pictures they felt really bad and promised they will try their best. Three or four days later, I received a call that the majority of my pictures were recovered. This was a miracle. After that we became their lifetime customers. To date we have had an Ipad and laptop repaired. My recent visit I noticed they moved next door upstairs. I guess the landlord wanted a corp client and used a ridiculous rent renewal proposal to get them out. They are still one of the oldest businesses in Tenleytown! read more

This is a terrible place. For example, when providing an estimate they quoted a parts price which seemed high to me. When I asked them to tell me the part number,,they did not have it. Worse yet, they claimed to be experienced in fixing Epson photo printers. The problem which I asked them to repair recurred the first time I used the printer immediately after they purported to fix it .Theyrefused to give me a refund and said I had broken the printer after they had repaired it. I finally had the machine repaired at an Epson service center for far less than the Computer Clinic had charged. It turned out that the Computer Clinic had totally misdiagnosed the problem. I had a computer issue (wasn't saving things correctly, wasn't turning on properly) and passed by the store a few times, and decided to visit it. They charged a fee upfront (not too bad considering what I usually pay for computer repairs) and was told that there was a hard drive issue. The woman was very friendly and explained the problem to me well, and she seemed really educated on computers in general. Anyway, I was charged for the labor and parts and came back later in the day to pick up my computer. I was allowed to test it at the store and it worked great-much faster too. They did a wonderful, swift job for not too bad a price. This is a great place for university students too-they told me there is a student discount, which I'll tell my son about. I went to this place last summer and they were super friendly and nice. They did charge a little to check out my machine (my fan was broken and it was overheating), but I already told them what was wrong with it. Total, it cost me $300 for the diagnosis, parts, and labor. I probably should have just gotten a new one at the time, but that's my fault. HP was going to charge me $500 for me to ship it to them, them repair it, and send it back without any guarantees. It took them about a week to fix and they were very friendly. I'm sorry about the other people's reviews, but I guess it just depends on what you're expecting. I talked to a small Filipino woman there. She might have been nicer to me because I took the time to say hello and told her I was Filipino, too, but it doesn't help to be nice when asking for something. read more

Very happy with the service I received. I had to have a new OS installed because Vista was so outdated. They updated my OS, saved all the necessary info so when I went back on I only had to do a limited amount of downloading. It has worked great now for a few weeks, faster than ever, and has saved me from buying a new laptop for a while. The price was reasonable too. read more

Well, I read these reviews, but I was desperate. I live in the neighborhood and visited this place. I was up front and said I had seen the reviews and hoped they were wrong. I was VERY PLEASED! I had a laptop that was locked up tight with a trojan Windows virus. I had downloaded numerous repairs that had not worked. I took it in on a Saturday AM and it was quickly repaired. I have used it for several weeks and all seems to be well. The technician (maybe owner) was friendly, met her two hour estimate, and left my PC with better virus protection than I had come in with. Sure, it wasn't cheap, but the rates were no worse than other places I called. Yes, they require the $95 up front, but I can understand it for the expense of the diagnosis - I knew it was locked up, and figured it was a minimum of an hour to fix it, but said to call if more than 2. She complied, did it in 2 and I left a happy customer. read more
