I took my Mac here as it was running very slow. They ran a diagnostic and told me that my ram slots were broken and my computer was as good as dead . I took it to Tek Serve for a second opinion. They recommended re-installing a new OS, did it for $54 and my computer is as good as new. I've been looking for an inexpensive refurb windows laptop online, but I really wanted to have a local business sell me one. I ran up to Penn Plaza and was pleasantly surprised with the inventory and prices. More importantly, they helped me decide based on my RAM needs (2G+), processor speed (2G +) and screen size (14"). Also needed Windows 7 Pro, wifi, etc. They had a nice lightly used Dell , $269, VOSTRO model w 3 Gig ram, 150G HD w Core I3 2.17 ghz processor, etc. , good value for something that may cost less online on EBay but with no warranty,etc. I didn't expect such a great value, with a warranty for 30 days, etc. Could have added a year warranty for $35 but I only need it for a month, anything more and my kid gets a great machine for homework. Plus they gave me a decent trade in for a cheap Toshiba net book that I couldn't sell on eBay for more than $50, and they threw in the hard drive wipe on the old machine. read more

Great place! I was selling my iPhone and got a reasonable price. No bluffing no bargaining, just walk in and they paid cash on-site. They are very friendly (comparing to Craigslist dealers) and very quick (comparing to selling your phone online). The office is clean and neat and gives you very "tech" feeling. So, I get there soaking wet and had to stop at at the front desk of this building to sign in and show ID (annoying) but, after that it was all good. I love them.. and why? well,the most recent purchase was a couple of months ago - a Dell laptop. It was working great then all of a sudden it wouldn't boot up. I brought it back Adam I believe it was on a Sunday - yeah, he can be there on Sundays. It took him 2 minutes to figure out that it was a memory chip that failed. I have a very small company -- mainly just me unless I have to hire some help -- so my needs are timely and exact. Over the course of the last four years, I've had four G-Tech drives (I can't give those things a low enough rating) fry on me. The first time, I took it to Tekserve, where I paid through the nose. Afterwards, a friend told me to try Computer Overhauls. They were less expensive than Tekserve BY A LONG SHOT, much more helpful, much friendlier, and generally nicer people. I'm not usually one to write a review but this company really made me mad. I am currently over from the UK when my MacBook pro crashed days before I left. The apple store informed me that it was my hard drive and I needed to get my data recovered. After googling when I got here I dropped my computer off for a quote. Not only did they say that my speaker also sounded "damaged" they then said that it would cost $750 to recover the data. I collected my computer and took it back to apple to get a new hard drive installed, which is where I found that not only had they not put the hard drive back in the computer but had not ever screwed the cover back on, which could have potentially destroyed my computer. After running from grand central to the store I was greeted by the owner who would only speak to me though a locked door (they opened at 9am and it was 8:50) which he only opened when I repeated to him several times that he still had my hard drive. No apology later he reinstalled my hard drive and I went on my way back to apple. Still not sure if their incompetence has caused my computer more damage but in my eyes it shouldn't have happened in the first place. Disgusting customer service and I would never let them touch my computer again. read more

Computer Overhauls made the process of trading in and buying a new laptop smooth, efficient, painless and pleasant. Brian, the salesperson, was immensely helpful on the phone, telling me the lowest price point to get a used laptop that would let me stream video. Their web site only had two models that met my criteria, and he honestly steered me away from the one reputed to have mfg problems. He stayed on the phone to answer questions about the different features and even put the laptop on hold for me. He estimated what they'd give me for my ACER netbook. I showed up to buy the HP laptop and trade-in my netbook that same day. He gave me more than he'd estimated for the netbook. Although he couldn't give me anything for my Toshiba laptop, I can't blame him for it was over ten years old (made like a brick but will never stop working!). He helped me test out the laptop I bought, discounted it for my trade-in plus a $20 Yelp deal I'd bought, and I walked out with a "new" HDMI-equipped laptop for $150 plus tax. You can't beat that! I turned down the extended warranty & so far am happy watching Internet video on my tv; the laptop refresh rate is only 60 as opposed to my tv which is at least twice that, but I could still enjoy watching youtube video of a tennis Grand Slam, just not at the same level as Tennis Channel (lost it when I cut cable). The video quality from laptop onto my tv is good; I got audio by setting the laptop audio default to HDMI device. Brian also agreed to wipe the drives, which he said they're required to do, on the netbook and old laptop at no cost.
