I had been curious about Con Azucar for a while, but avoided it only because I didn't want to deal with parking downtown. However, I finally got over it and checked it on a Friday (late) morning. Either this was a busy time for them or they're always busy, but we waited a while to place an order. The interior of the cafe was very cute - murals, a wall of roses with neon signage, a swing, more roses on the ceiling, and lots of comfortable seating options. When we got up to the counter, I ordered an Iced Horchata Latte with an extra shot of espresso and my sister chose the Iced Dulce De Leche Latte. She also got a Concha pastry, which was a little bit underwhelming. We waited a while to get our drinks - probably not the place to go if you're in a rush. I did love my Horchata Latte and can see why this is one of their more popular items. The Dulce De Leche Latte wasn't bad either but a bit too sweet - my sister and I agreed that the Horchata was better. Unfortunately, there were a few mixups with our order, between my drink not having the extra shot of espresso and my sister's being made with oat milk instead of almond. I would probably return to try more items in the future, but just can't see myself becoming a regular. read more

First, the vibe is very very slow! Second, have some at least real cream- third, I ordered cafe de la Ila as it's as authentic as it can be! However, we received it paper cups and it was horrific! Had to change my rating from last time I was here. Came in for the grand opening a few months back and it was an awesome experience. Live music with a DJ and mariachi too. Drinks kept flowing to all who were waiting in line and the atmospher was festive. Service was great concidering they were packe with customers lined up around the corner. This time time it was a very different experience. Greated employee and no response. neared the counter and gave my order. Paid and a rciept was handed to me. Asked for my meal to go because I was limited on time and had to get back to work. My number was called and my food was beautifuly dispayed on a wood board to dine in. Dine in???? I thought my order was to go. Asked if they could bag it to go and I seamed to annoyed the lady at the counter. Not wanting to make a big deal, I had my lunch there. Lunch was very good. Ordered the BLT with avocado and it was made to perfection. Paired it with a Jamaica water and the water was good, but, the chamoy and tajin rim overpowered the drink. Was looking for a new coffee shop and remembered seeing this on IG. Finally got the chance to visit. Inside is beautifully decorated. They have a swing you can sit on to take cute pictures for social media. I thought the place would be roomy. It's a bit small with limited seating. Service was great. A must visit!!! Went twice and am looking for excuses to come again. They have extremely unique and tasty drinks and toasts. First visit I got a Caprese Toast and White Chocolate Mocha: Caprese toast was so yummy and filling! The presentation is gorgeous -- Definitely recommend this to first timers. White Chocolate Mocha was super duper sweet, so come with a sweet tooth. Just as good, if not better, than one from Starbucks. If you're not feeling adventurous, this is a safe bet. 2nd visit I got the Mazapan Latte hot and Avocado toast: The signature pink hue of the iced version of latte made the hot version of the Mazapan Latte a light, rosy brown! Super sweet, delicious, and unique. Just like the Marzipan candy but way more fun with adorable latte art on top! I asked for My Melody and they used one of their previous on-hand designs. Avocado toast was really amazing too! Generous portion of avocado and the chili spice that they pepper on top gives it a lovely kick of flavor. Definitely made the $13 price point worth it. Interior is gorgeous, you'll want to stay awhile to take it all in. There's a good amount of seating both indoors and outdoors but its pretty busy so finding a spot indoors is harder. While i've been to this cafe many times and have enjoyed trying many different items from the menu while truly enjoying the decor and overall ambiance, i've noticed that the customer service isn't the best. My last visit, while introducing 3 family members to one of my favorite coffee shops in the area, we were given two wrong pastries and missing a drink, and we were met with stern stares when we asked for our items. Our order came out in about 5 minutes, but when we realized we recieved the wrong items, we were told by a barista that we were charged for concha's, not the cuernitos, and that the cuernitos were a .05 cent difference so we would need to pay the difference, and was met with attitude when we explained that we never ordered conchas so we were confused why we weren't charged correctly in the first place. When we first revieved the wrong items, we waited in line to let the cashier know and for 10 minutes when we would try to get her attention she would look at us and then continue her conversation with the customers in front, which prompted us to grab the attention of the barista. the barista claimed that the cashier didn't speak english well, so she would have to be the one to help us, but it was disheartening as a customer to know that i was ignored by the person who initially made the mistake on our order. When we asked about the missing drink, we found out was 'never rung up' by the cashier, and we were asked to pay for it. we spent a total of nearly 25 minutes waiting. While I love everything about this shop, this specific customer service interactions was one of the worst i've had this year in San Jose. read more

Almost like something was served past its prime, sour tasting. I only had a couple bites, I was done. The BLT wasn't bad, just really not worth the price tag. We both had refreshers for beverages and they both were good, albeit way overpriced. The kicker was my husband wanted a black coffee to go after we ate. It took over ten minutes to get that. Really pretty cafe + decorations, but the drinks just didn't vibe with me. It was pretty empty when we visited around 4pm. I got to try the dulce de leche latte, horchata latte, and horchata fresca. Dulce de Leche Latte: 3/5 The drinks were really sweet and I don't think they allow you to adjust the sweetness. Of course it is a caramel drink, but I thought it would have a stronger coffee flavor. Overall, it reminded me of a caramel macchiato from Starbucks. Horchata Latte/Horchata Fresca: 3/5 Heads up, the horchata are pre-made mixes, so you can't choose an alternative milk option for these. (So you can't order these drinks with oat milk, soy milk, etc.) It's quite a sweet drink and just didn't fit my flavor preferences well, but I do know that the Horchata Latte is one of their most popular drinks. The Horchata Fresca tasted pretty much the same, but it has no coffee and is a bit sweeter than the latte version. Concha: 2/5 I've never had a concha before, so I have no comparisons, but this tasted kinda dry to me? It was crumbly too and it didn't have memorable flavor to me. I also wish their menus had descriptions of the ingredients for the specialty lattes, because it's hard to tell by just the names. It's also worth mentioning that they got my friend's drink wrong and had to make her a new one. (They made her a horchata latte instead of a horchata fresca.) I will give benefit of the doubt that it has only been open 1 week and they are working out the bugs in the new Silver Creek location. I took my niece & Godson in hopes of getting Mexican Hot Chocolate & treats for our drive thru Christmas in the Park. There was a big group ahead of us and they placed their order. It was our turn & I ordered 3 drinks & 2 muffins. They got part of the big groups order wrong. They work to correct it. As we waited 15 minutes for our drinks, another customer goes up because her order was wrong. Again, they did correct it. Finally ours comes up and, you guessed it, they got it wrong! Only 2 drinks were entered and they tell me that I should have received my muffins when I paid - which I did not. So, now we were late to our drive thru reservation and minus my drink. They did give us our muffins, but by then I did not even want it anymore because I was so upset. I really hate to rate 1 star. What a cool shop! Staff were super nice. There isn't much close parking but there is some a little walk away. It is a small place with some outside seating. This is more of a 2.5 star review. It's comes done to how style here is more valued than substance. Came here with my son's father because he said the conchas were worth trying. Got here early and we got two conchas, a torta and I got the dulce de leche latte. Strange/unorganized set-up of how you get your food and drinks. I swear they called our order but because a flog of people standing by the register and the pick up area they put our order back and we just waited again. When we did get our torta and drinks soon after, it was pretty good. I liked the ham and the veggies were good. A little too much pickled jalapenos for my liking, but just picked them out. Liked and disliked the cutting board they use to serve the food. Since we shared made it messy to eat from. The drinks came with a cute stencil of a Bay Area team. Came with a lot of foam. The drink was not bad, but it definitely was not something to write home about. Then we had to go back to counter to request our conchas. Kinda annoying to me, but I guess they're trying to create an experience(??). It was severed on this cute miniature bike as if you were getting it from a street vendor. Conchas were probably on the better conchas I have tried. But again noting to write home about. Did not see other pan dulce options. They did have miniature assorted pan dulces in little bags. Also had the enormous ones, which to me is just ostentatious. Street parking, be cautious as there are a lot of homeless in the area. They have indoor and outdoor sitting. Probably should stay inside because when we left and walked around the area. There were a few homeless sitting or loitering around the tables outside. I was so excited to finally try this place and see what all the hype was about and trust me it did not disappoint! I had the dulce de leche latte (hot) and the pink concha cupcake. Despite the hot 90 degree weather in San Jose, I had to get the latte hot just bc of the latte art. To my surprise I got Karol G! How cool is this detail and the Latin representation. Definitely can't wait to see who I get next! The pink concha cupcake was the the perfect size and tasted a lot like a Cortadillo. One thing to note about the pastries, is that they do run out of options as the day goes on. I came midday after lunch and the majority of the display was gone. It goes to show how delicious they are. So if you want a variety of options, come early! My bf got the mini conchito and iced horchata latte which he really enjoyed. As aesthetic as this place is, it's very popular therefore it can get busy and seating is very limited. I did notice that several tables weren't busted, so ppl had to awkwardly wait for a table holding their food while the worker went and got cleaning items. Quirky uniquely Mexican cafe. They have their special twists on coffees and agua frescas. The quintessential "torta de jamon" could not be overlooked. It is absolutely delicious! The details of the mini conchas and muffins are a sweet treat but the cuteness of having them on the bread basket bicycle is just simply the cutest thing there is. The staff is friendly and young always smiling. I order a new agua to go every time . The avocado toast is bomb and the lattes with personalized pictures is a must. You always have bad bunny blasting in the back ground and the swing and photo opps here are also a client favorite. Short review since we just came in for a cup of coffee to go. We were looking for a different coffee place to try and I remembered seeing this place on social media! Luckily there was a lot of street parking at the time we arrived. I also noticed there was a parking garage but of course, you would have to pay. The street parking we found had free parking on Sundays! So we parked about half a block away and took a nice little walk to the coffee shop. The inside is beautifully decorated with faux florals, a swing, and amazing art on the walls! The only thing was that it was really warm inside. I'm thinking it was just because they had a heater on, but it was really stuffy inside. I ordered a latte and my partner ordered a white mocha. I didn't get a chance to look at their baked goods, but I knew they're known for their giant pan dulce! My latte was just okay but the white mocha was really good! I would definitely order it again! I've been waiting for the Mazapan flavor to hit the shelves so I could enjoy it inside my coffee. I came by early before the rush and ordered the Mazapan Latte (the cashier didn't offer any milk alternatives and I didn't change the milk because that does offer a different flavor to the drink). He asked if I wanted the rim on the drink and at first I said yes but asked if it was messy as I was on my way to work and didn't want sticky fingers or Mazapan flakes on my clothes. He said its not messy but I opted out of it. I like a good IG photo but not at the trade of sticky fingers. I also ordered 2 conchas. I waited about 7 minutes and heard my name. I looked up and saw the Mazapan Latte with a mountain of ice and no lid. I obviously already worried it was going to spill grabbed a lid and sure enough SPLOSH of coffee all out the side. I used like half of the napkins to clean up the mess even though I could of just walked away. I cleaned the top of the drink because as you tilt it all of the liquid will fall on you. The girl making the drinks watched as I cleaned it and never offered a new cup or to help clean it. I had to wipe it all clean before I walked away with it. This system doesn't work. First of all add enough ice to be able to close the lid without overflow. Second add the lid to the drink. It should be ready to grab and go. I wasn't going to let this ruin my excitement to have this flavored coffee so I made my way out and took a large sip. The Mazapan shines bright in this drink. It is a toasty Mazapan flavor. You cannot mistake it as anything else. It is VERY sweet!!! I couldn't finish it all and at the end my mouth was so dry from how sweet it was. Can the sweetness levels be customized? I could barely taste the coffee. This tasted more like Mazapan milk. I've tried two other drinks and both were also very sweet. The conchas were fine. I'm not sure if these are made there or brought over from a local panaderia. If the sweetness levels can be customized I would visit again. The cashier was friendly but could be ready to offer milk alternatives, sweetness levels (if they offer this), and pastries etc. The girl making the drinks was nonchalant while she did her job and saw me struggle the whole time and never offered any help. SJ needs more places like this!!! It's very IG worthy :). It's located in downtown SJ so you will have to find street parking which is metered. I easily found parking at the park one block away. The ambience was fun and lively. They played a variety of Latin music. Most importantly, the coffee was actually delicious! They roast Tony's coffee. I ordered the mazapan iced coffee with soy (they also have oat and almond) lightly sweetened and it was perfectly sweet! My cousin ordered the cajeta latte and she said it was a little too sweet. So beware if you don't have a sweet tooth. Food: We ordered the manteconcha and not only is it super cute but it did not disappoint!! The torta and caprese toast were also very flavorful. My husband and I love this place, regular clients to say. We coming once, sometimes twice a week, we always drive to this location from Mountain View just to come get your delicious iced coffee and mante conchas, but lately it has been a hit or miss with the Iced mexican mochas. The flavor is not consistent everytime, sometimes it's watery or too milky. We usually come when the coffee shop is empty around 12-3 pm so when there's no rush I would expect a worker to take their time to make a quality drink. I've been here several times, very busy each time I've come with lines out the door. Often hard to find seating. The ambiance is great, good music, great graffiti art on the walls and a beautiful swing you can sit on and take some pictures. The unique thing about this cafe is that they can take a picture of your choice and have it printed on the coffee you are drinking. Works in lattes or cappuccinos. Very cute and romantic if you come here with a love or date night or just a fun place to stop by with your friends or family. They have fresh Mexican bakery items that often sell out so it's best to come earlier in the dThe coffee is good but not life changing. The people working here were very warm and friendly. My horchata latte was loaded on the cinnamon and it tasted so good. I highly recommend it if you have a sweet craving.
