Went for a quick lunch. Parking is along the street (downtown vibes) so you may have to walk a bit. The workers are very kind! They explained the menu well. BANANA MATCHA LATTE: strong banana flavor, pretty sweet. MAZAPAN LATTE: yummy toasty mazapan flavor with some crumbled bits in there to add texture GRILLED CHEESE: very cheesy with a nice crunch from toasted bread. good depth of flavor from the multiple types of cheeses. cutely decorated as well. was a tiny bit greasy TORTA DE JAMON: thick amount of meat and loaded with saucy flavors. delicious! Overall would come back!
In a town with many matcha options I chose to come to Con Azucar because their specialty drink options caught my attention. I absolutely love Horchata and I love Matcha as well so when I saw that they had a combined option called the Horchata Matcha I was absolutely thrilled. The taste did not disappoint. I tried both the hot and cold version and had no complaints on either. Creamy, cinnamon, smooth and reasonably priced. The cafe is decorated very cute. Vibrant colors and a cute grass wall for the perfect selfies of either yourself or your drinks. Staff was nice and the store holds a corner location so it's easy to find.
Usually when items are sized up, they lose flavor, moisture, something.To my surprise, the Big Concha taste exactly as the average one, in fact, maybe a little more flavorful! The service was very quick. The workers looked like they were on a mission to deliver great customer service. I wouldn't recommend the Big Concha if you're alone (unless you burn an extra 5,000 calories a day), but it's definitely worth getting if to share at the office or with friends!
The service here is always good, the drinks are delicious and so is the food and bakery items! My family and I have tried the conchas, cookies, and tortas here and they were all delicious! My favorite drink is probably the mazapan latte! The vibes are cute too, love the decor!
I came here with my family as a quick coffee stop before leaving to San Diego. I was so amazed by this spot! The vibes inside are amazing and incredibly done. There's a swing for pictures with a slower back drop and roses on the ceiling. It was so pretty inside. The menu is pretty big, it was a little intense for our first time. They had a lot of cool options, even one where you can get a character printed in foam on your latte! All the pan dulce looked amazing too. Personally, I ended up getting the Duvalin latte and a cute bag of mini pan dulce. My coffee was so yummy! It tasted like strawberry milk was in my coffee, but in a good way. The bag of pan dulce was so cute! It had piggies, mini concha's, and the sugar croissant breads inside. All were very delicious and well made. My daughter got the pineapple fresca, which I tasted. It was the best pineapple Fresca I have had in a long time. I was very impressed! The rest of my family was very happy with their drinks too. Not only was the staff super friendly here, but the customers were too! A regular customer there saw me and my family contemplating with the menu and gave us drink advice. Everything about the experience was just great! Whenever I happen to return to this area of Cali I will have this spot in the top of my list to return to.
This is such a cute coffee shop! As a lover of Mexican coffee, I come pretty often. My favorite is the horchata iced latte, but their cafe de olla is good too. I ordered the torta de jamón and was satisfied with it. The service was good and efficient, despite how busy they were!
Had seen this coffee shop on IG and since I was passing by I decided to stop by! Love the ambiance, it's a modern day Hispanic coffee shop in downtown San Jose. Coffee would be as typical as any other coffee shop, I think the draw to this coffee shop is the nostalgia and nice decorations. Pass by check it out for yourself! You be the judge. Overall had a good experience.
My mom has been wanting to try this place for awhile. We were in town and decided to check it out. I do not know how this place has so many people after our experience here. We walked in ordered at the tablet they have for self ordering. They were out of the giant concha which was a bummer. We got three mini pan dulces. They were fine and small in size than regular pan dulce. We ordered the mini rosca and then later told they were out prob due to them losing our order. They do have a variety bag with different ones you can take to go. We waited waited and waited I walked over to the coffee barista and asked her if our order was coming up as multiple people had come and gone. They said no we don't have an order for you so I asked if she could ask. They said the order had not printed so once they found it they told us it would be made. Waited and waited some more. I finally was just going to ask for a refund after an hour or waiting for two coffees and a small hot chocolate. The seasonal toasted marshmallow drink was good and my churro latte was good. The abuelita hot chocolate was hot water. No flavor or chocolate in sight. We would have said something but seeing how the process was going we just called it a loss. It's a small place with a couple tables so seating is limited. They have some seats outside also. Also a small section with merchandise with cute mugs and bowls for sale. Overall not a great experience with the customer service and experience. I am so understanding of mistakes but if you say you are going to make it right and get out order done since it was your error , do that but instead we waited more and had to walk up and tell her our order as it was made incomplete.
We enjoyed the food! We got the torta de jamon and the club sandwich! The food was good and filling! Would come here for the food. The drinks were good, just very sweet! This may be good for some but too sweet for us. On doordash they don't let you substitute milks.
Beautiful aesthetics and such a great vibe place, staff could be a little more customer service but it's a Tuesday early morning and maybe just a little getting ready for the day. Delicious variety and beautiful display, warm and delicious conchas that you can tell that our freshly made. Will definitely be coming back enjoyed that I was not rushed to leave.
What a cute little place! Great for a photo op or just for a little coffee date between you and a friend. They have great pastries and coffee. There wasn't much of the line where we went, but the lady said that they're usually is but we went on a weekday. Definitely wanna try to get a vibe in a line. We're gonna come back to this place. Love this spot in DTSJ! Parking is all street parking but it's pretty doable to find around the block. The decor on the inside is really cute as well. I love the horchata and Mazapan lattes! And the presentation of the drinks is really cute, with the rims of the drinks being lined with chocolate almonds for the Mazapan and cinnamon sugar for the Horchata! I'm giving this place two stars: one for the food and one for some of the staff. When we arrived, the staff wasn't very welcoming. After waiting a few minutes to order, we were told to use the kiosk because the register wasn't working, which was totally fine. However, immediately after we placed our order at the kiosk, the staff proceeded to take the order of the customers behind us at the register. We assumed it was a coincidence and didn't think much of it at the time. The food itself was great. The presentation was decent, and everything was flavorful. My fiancé and his dad shared a super large concha, and I had a torta--both were delicious. We also shared a large coffee, which tasted great, but it was too big for us to finish. Since we aren't wasteful, we shared some with our table neighbors and planned to take the rest to go. This is where our experience went from okay to disappointing. My fiancé went to ask for to-go cups so we could take the remaining coffee. One of the staff members responded rudely, saying they could "only give us a few cups." My fiancé said that was fine since we were already sharing with our neighbors. However, we weren't given enough lids, so he went back to ask for lids, not more cups. The worker snapped back, saying she had already given us enough cups and couldn't give us more--again, he wasn't asking for cups. Because of how rude she was, my fiancé didn't want to approach her again. When we needed trays, his dad asked instead, and she was rude to him as well, insisting she had already given us enough cups--when he was clearly asking for trays. It felt like she wasn't listening at all and was just making assumptions. As we were leaving, I also saw this same worker pointing at us while talking to her coworker and referring to us as "them," which was very unprofessional. If there is a policy about not providing to-go containers, that's completely understandable--but it should be communicated politely. I work in the service industry myself, and the way this situation was handled was rude and disrespectful. Because of this experience, I will not be returning or recommending this place to others, even though the food itself was good.
It's about time San José has a place like this! About 10 years ago I went to Horchateria in LA and my mind was blown having an horchata latte. This place gets busy and because the drinks are hand crafted, be prepared to wait. I ordered the iced horchata latte with no caffeine and almond milk (no dairy). It was sweet, cinnamony (yup, I made up that word) and refreshing. My husband chose the iced cafe de olla which was heavy on the spices but he didn't mind. My nephew ordered the regular horchata latte and he isn't a coffee drinker so he felt it was really strong. Now he knows to order a decaf! The pan dulce tastes super fresh like they just made it. The cuernitos are flaky on the outside and super soft on the inside. I was expecting the manteconchas ($2.99 each) to taste more like a mantecada cupcake but it was more of a concha sponge. I'm so glad business is booming because we need more of this in SJ! read more

I've been here several times, very busy each time I've come with lines out the door. Often hard to find seating. The ambiance is great, good music, great graffiti art on the walls and a beautiful swing you can sit on and take some pictures. The unique thing about this cafe is that they can take a picture of your choice and have it printed on the coffee you are drinking. Works in lattes or cappuccinos. Very cute and romantic if you come here with a love or date night or just a fun place to stop by with your friends or family. They have fresh Mexican bakery items that often sell out so it's best to come earlier in the dThe coffee is good but not life changing. The food is also good though this last time they forget the tomato's in my BLT. Some fun Mexican style coffees on the menu. Overall good items, fun decor nice little place to stop at. read more

My husband and I love this place, regular clients to say. We coming once, sometimes twice a week, we always drive to this location from Mountain View just to come get your delicious iced coffee and mante conchas, but lately it has been a hit or miss with the Iced mexican mochas. The flavor is not consistent everytime, sometimes it's watery or too milky. We usually come when the coffee shop is empty around 12-3 pm so when there's no rush I would expect a worker to take their time to make a quality drink. We don't mind the pricing of the drinks at all, we just wish the drinks were made with the same quality everytime just like when the shop first opened . Thank you . read more

This was such a cute coffee shop! I had their signature mazapán latte iced with oat milk and it was amazing. The Mexican mocha tasted just like ahíjelo también hot chocolate and the cafe de olla did not come with cream but it was still good. The food was really good but a little pricey but regardless we all got full off of our food item. They also sell pan dulce and chips from Mexico and tons of other coffee options. Came in here on a Sunday early afternoon. There was a line out the door, which I anticipated due to the hype this place was getting. We waited about 45 minutes for us to get in the door and order. We wanted to do a latte with art, but it was too hot for that, so we opted for iced coffees and a dessert to share. For the drinks we ordered the Mazapan, Horchata and a Cajeta iced coffee. These are listed in order of preference. We also shared the Concha sandwich which an ice cream sandwich. We opted for sprinkles, which we would definitely not do again. The amount of sprinkles was wild. Overload for sure and too crunchy. The café has a cute vibe and décor, but it was hotter than hell in there. We were looking forward to walking inside from the heat outside and were taken aback by the heatwave to hit us. I am not sure how people were eating in there. Overall, I like this place. I don't know if I would wait in line again that long, especially in the sun, but I would like to try more of their menu items if in the area with no / shorter line. read more
I live downtown and would see the line at this place always quite long so I finally checked it out. The inside is small but is cute, they have a spot to take photos (greenery and swing) if you feel the need to document your visit. I came to try the coffee which was really average I didn't think anything was special other then the cool design they can do. The bread I got (with cream cheese and ham) I would definitely go back for. It was fluffy and flavorful but small snack size. I also got a lemonade of some sort which was pretty good too - had a yummy rim on it. Overall it was ok, if I were walking in the area I'd stop again but I wouldn't make a special trip to go to. This place is super cute and fun, but the wait is a little tough as well as parking in the area! Not somewhere you can sit during peak hours. But it's definitely unique! I didn't feel like drinks were super caffeinated but more for the aesthetic. I really like the mazapán flavor! read more
Ordered door dash and loved the no delivery fee! It was my first time trying drinks from here, and it was so good! My co workers and I thought it was the perfect amount of sweetness (not too sweet or overpowering of flavors). Definitely need to try their pastries. I will be back! read more
I have been here plenty of times to try their different types of coffees. I usually come during the week around 8am and do not have to wait long. However, I went on a Saturday around 10am to try their Grande Concha and Coffee, and our group waited about 30 minutes just to get in and order. Took us another 20 minutes after to find a place to seat for a group of 7. The coffee was good and creamy. The Concha was good as well. Their avocado toast was okay, not a lot of flavor. read more
This place is overwhelming for someone like me who has ADHD! I stopped by to use their Wi-Fi (for work related stuff) since for some reason I was not able to do so at Starbucks down the street. And because I'm not a moocher, and I like to support local businesses, I decided to buy a drink here. I ordered their Jamaica and raspberry drink and a pup cup for my big pup before using their Wi-Fi. Upon walking in, I was immediately taken aback and thought, "Wow. This place is too much!". To me, it gives the vibe of being over the top, over hyped. It was one of those establishments where instagrams are encouraged--with a suspended hanging swing, with a backdrop wall of artificial foliage and the iconic neon sign. There was also plenty of additional hanging artificial plants and flowers suspended from the ceiling. There is also a large mural of a Freida Kahlo near the pick-up counter. I stood in line for at least 5 minutes on a weekday early afternoon waiting to place my order. I had no idea this place was popular. When I placed my order, I was a bit shocked that the cost of my Jamaica drink was SEVEN dollars! Really?! Then, I opted to get my dog a pup cup which was an outrageous $1.75! There was something about it being an instagram??? I just wanted to give my dog a treat! Not any of the places have I been to charge for a pup cup. Wow. I waited quite a long time before my order. So long that I thought they had forgotten my order. That's when I saw my drink being prepared. I was a bit shocked to see a large amount of two kinds of syrups being used to make my drink. I'm not a fan of syrups unless there on my pancakes. Then they added the Jamaica drink to it. They topped it off with tajin powder and a tajin lollipop. This was a bit too much for me. I was hoping for a simple refreshing drink. It was also very messy, making it a challenge to drink. When I picked up my order, I wasn't really acknowledged, even though I said, thank you. The lady who was preparing my drink was kind of rude. Since I was with my dog, and dogs are not allowed inside the establishment, I opted to sit outside at one of their tables. Apparently, the tables hadn't been cleaned. Tables were filthy with all kinds of debris. I use some napkins to wipe it down. There was also trash under the tables. Pretty unsanitary. I ended up drinking about a third of my beverage. Sadly, I threw the rest out. My dog, however, thoroughly enjoyed his pup cup, without an Instagram selfie. read more

To the owner if you really care about your business please train your staff better and I'm talking for the people taking orders and responsible to make sure that we get our orders right this kid a the cashier was not rude but the way he talked to you with no interest makes you walk away so careless about what he is doing or costumer wants.. but honestly a trash bag to take your bread really I know you make enough money to make boxes for this but most definitely something that you are good it's doing advertising the only reason I give a 3 stars it's because the breakfast it's good as well the bread so fix those things and you will get a 5 stars read more

Very disappointed as we had no problem paying the $50 for the Concha Gigante, however, we waited over an hour to receive our order at which point we were told they forgot about our order. Also very disappointed to receive all 4 hot coffee orders arrive cold. read more

I found out through Con Azucar on twitter and finally made my way here. the inside is definitely very aesthetic with flowers, artwork, signs, etc. you can even get a coffee with your desired picture on the latte art. definitely all about the experience here I ordered a horchata latte and loved it. only comment would be that I want the coffee to be stronger! might have to get a double shot next time. we ordered the avo toast as well which is two ginormous pieces. not a fan of the avo to bread ratio however and wish it was toasted a little more. might have to stick to ordering the drinks here the line can get really long so try to come early. I just wish they were quicker/more efficient but I'm sure they'll figure things out as they are newer read more

I give this place a 3 stars only because they did not have a few items when they opened. If I'm not wrong I believe they don't make the tamales, champurado or the big conchas in house. They get them deliver from a different party. I took my parents here & decided to arrive once they opened to have breakfast. I drove over an hour to find out they did not have tamales or champurado. I ordered the grilled cheese 10/10 kind of pricy though. Also ordered their $50 concha & coffee. The place is fairly small, not much seating area and the line gets long pretty fast read more

After seeing this spot blow up on TikTok, I couldn't wait to try it out and let me tell you, the 2 hour drive was totally worth it! The staff was super friendly and helpful, but the real magic happened when I took that first bite of the sandwich. It instantly transported me back to my childhood, like I was sitting in my grandma's kitchen after finishing all my chores, just waiting for a meal that was well worth the effort. We saw this place on ..where else? Instagram we waited in line for about 45min. Ordered and waited another 45 min for our drinks. There were a lot of people, lots of noise and not enough seating. Outside tables were available but it was cold so, not desirable. The price of the giant cafe con leche is $50 and the giant Concha was also $50. We ordered the Duvalin, and MAZAPAN lattes. The order was wrong the first time and we got the drinks cold, not hot. They gave us the iced drinks which looked pretty but were very sweet. The MAZAPAN tasted like regular coffee and milk it had a bad bunny design. We got a few conchas but they weren't worth the money spent. I've had my share of concha's. Cafecitos etc.. but this place is overpriced and think that if Instagram hadn't made them notable- they wouldn't be open long. There's is nothing here that is a WOW FACTOR. here's a suggestion to this place that could really be a place for cafe, pan and photo ops.. use a table in the corner, place a giant cup painted light brown (cafe con leche) on the inside and a replica of the giant concha. You absolutely will continue to sell both, you will Always win with the cute designs on the lattes.. but come on, the average couple going in to see the hype isn't going to spend 100 bucks on coffee and pastry. We spent $40 on 4 drinks and 4 small conchas - none of which will make me take a drive to San Jose again. I appreciate the ambience, the cute set up and the idea. I gave 4 stars because I appreciate small business but it's way overpriced and once you wait an hour, would you NOT get it?? Lol. I didnt but Im one person ( a bucket of coffee and loaf of bread is not worth 100plus tax) Service is SLOW - 2 stars Drinks - just milk and coffee no real flavor and i wish it could be different. - 2 stars Environment - 3stars big opportunities here! Been here a couple of times and I've always had a very good experience. There does tend to be a bit of a wait though. Their torta de jamón and club sándwich are both so good! I also tried their avocado toast, it is so much bigger then I expected and delicious! Wish it had more pepper flakes on it though. read more
Make sure you visit this spot early in the morning. Some of the pan dulces and items tend to sell-out by mid-day. The staff is super friendly and fast. The indoor seating is great, but also has outdoor in case you bring your pup. They have a pup-ccino if you want as a treat for your furry companion. Inside is covered with plenty of fun murals and decorations, including an indoor swing. It's definitely a picturesque spot with ambience!! This is my new favorite local Mexican coffee shop. They're also the only place that serves a gigantic pan dulce and/or hot-chocolate. Additionally, the only spot where you can get any image printed on your latte! A must try. The place was recommended to me by a friend through instagram. The person in front on Tuesday morning was kind and prompt with my order. I tried the cafe de olla and it was delicious. I saw an ad for this place on instagram and instantly fell in love with the instagram-able venue with a swing for pictures and flower decorations. The customer service is exceptional with the staff constantly cleaning the tables and countertops! Staff is super friendly and willing to answer any questions you may have on the order. Parking is pretty easy to find and it is walking distance from city hall! A must try! read more

Cute cafe with a Hispanic flare! Pros: I ordered a white chocolate mocha and I enjoyed my drink. They also have interesting drink flavors such as dulce de leche and flan! The inside is decorative and beautiful. Cons: The cafe is located in Downtown so parking can be difficult. Also this is NOT a place to come and do work. I also which they had a bit more seating but they do have limited seating both inside and outside which I appreciate. Would come again! read more

An all around 5 out of 5 spot. As we walked in, eyes just locked in on all the decorations and Mexican art. The lady working the front at the time happily greeted us with her warm vibe and recommended what was good, what was sweet (for me) and what you can/cannot modify. With her help, I got an iced Mazapan extra sweet w/Oatmilk. The Oatmilk complimented the Mazapan nicely. It taste great with how sweet I got it. Next time, I want to try it without getting that extra pump. Either way, I know it's going to be delicious. Another thing that stood out was they put some mazapan crumbs on the rim of my cup which gave it a little touch. My daughter got a hot chocolate and it taste like no other hot chocolate I've had. My 8 year old daughter said "this is the best hot chocolate I ever had!" So that speaks volume haha. For food, we ordered 3 cuernitos (lady gave us an extra) and ordered a Torta de Jamon and subbed the ham with Turkey. Again, my daughter loved the Cuernitos and the Torta was great. The bread was suuuuuuuper soft with a soft crunch to it. Im sure everything on the menu will not disappoint. I love how they proudly displayed their Mexican culture. Everything about Con Azucar Café is fire. A must for everyone. Especially tourists. read more

Cute corner cafe with Mexican inspired menu. This a spot to meet up with a homie for a coffee date. Not really a spot to study or expect an extensive food menu. I like the Pepino y Limon refresher. Great concha cupcake almost has a banana flavor. Moist! Service was quick besides the 15 minute wait outside. Took about 15 minutes for the torta and 15-20 for the coffee. Very few tables!!!! Cute cafe. Great food and coffee was excellent. read more

There's always a line out the door when I pass by for work in the mornings so that's where my interested piqued. Walked down to the cafe during "lunch hours" and it wasn't too jam packed. Such a cute setup inside! I didn't go off the ledge and get anything super crazy but they did have some pretty unique choices. I opted for my standard chai tea latte and it was delicious. Definitely be back to explore the menu. read more

Any Price for the BIG concha and giant coffee?
I went right after Thanksgiving and large coffee was $50. Concha's had two prices: large long one was $50, smaller round one was slightly cheaper.
Can I make a reservation?
You cannot. Also, dining tables are first come first served. Very limited.
What is the best time to go without a long wait?
Middle of the week 1st thing in the morning.

I'm not sure; but you can request a vegan option.
How do you get the artwork done on your hot drinks?
You have to have the image on your phone. When you hand your phone to the barista make sure that your photo is ready. You pay a small fee to have it on your drink. Super fast and easy.
Can you order online?
Not yet but Con Azucar announced that they will be on DoorDash soon.
Are the syrups dairy free? And is the horchata dairy free? I know some places put condensed milk or…
They are not lactose free (I'm lactose intolerant).... They are also not dairy free (from a friend with a milk allergy)... Finally, their drinks pretty much all contain caffeine or coffee base, including the horchata. They changed the menu recently…
Do they have gluten free baked goods?
Unsure if there are any gluten free baked goods... As far as I know, the concha and sandwiches aren't gluten free. Assume it isn't gluten free unless specially indicated.
Do they have lactose free or non dairy milks?
Yes they do! I believe they have soy & oat milk
