I had a very disappointing first experience with Concord Veterinary Clinic, and unfortunately it only got worse after I left. I called the morning of my visit (around 9:00 a.m.) and was scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. appointment for my dog's vaccinations and a nail trim. I arrived on time, was put into a room, spoke to an assistant about my dog needs and waited nearly 50 minutes without ever being seen by a vet, During that entire time, no one communicated that there was a delay or provided any kind of update. I finally had to approach the front desk myself, only to be told that I would need to reschedule. This was especially frustrating since I had specifically set aside time in the middle of a busy workday for this appointment. Had I been informed of the delay, I could have made an informed decision instead of wasting my time. What's even more concerning is what happened after. I requested to be contacted directly by a manager or owner to discuss the situation and determine whether I could confidently return. I also followed up in writing. I never received a call, email, or any acknowledgment whatsoever. The lack of communication during the visit was unacceptable. The complete lack of accountability afterward is even worse. For a first-time client, this experience felt disorganized, unprofessional, and dismissive of both my time and my pet's care. We had a health issue with our 6 year old cat that so far has cost us over $4,000 and EVERY single time we talked to them they gave us different amounts that had to be paid in advance of them seeing our boy. We take our dog here for all of her allergy issues and more but every-time we go into the vet we're almost forced to pay for shots and charged for things we can't pay for. When we ask to wait for those payments they still force it and charge us the same amount of money. They're very money hungry. This is by far the most honest, fairly priced veterinary clinic I have ever been to. I have owned dogs my whole life and most clinics run up bills unnecessarily, push for procedures that are not in the animal's best interests, and denigrate the pet owners. The Concord Veterinary Clinic team is nothing like that. From day one they were unbelievably kind to me and my dogs. They go the extra mile in every way and are transparent with prices. If something is on an estimate that I do not feel my pet needs, it's taken off without pushback or attempts to shame me into it. I recently visited Concord Vet Clinic for my new pup Stormy. Dr chhina brought her in and examined her. The pup had parasites and worms as she was a rescue but with 2 weeks of meds, she is back to normal. Stormy does not get anxious about coming into this office and everyone is quite helpful with her. Pricing is up front and they tell you what they think the pet needs with rates. Some of the other reviewers on here seem questionable (especially the ones without a photo) and those who claim to have been "overcharged?". I don't think the staff took their credit card and ran it on their behalf. If you don't want a service based on the price, you can say no... For instance, there were some services that were more expensive and I decided to wait on those. Dr Chhina had no issue with this. Stormy will be going back soon to be spayed! This was on a spare of the moment, on making an appointment today. For both of my rabbits to get a nail trim. I had made the appointment at 2:30 today on a Tuesday with Doctor Gill. Which has seen both my rabbits on occasion for just a nail trim in the past. Please see the review for Apollo veterinary in Walnut Creek. Since Doctor Gill is not an exotic doctor for rabbits. Not all doctors can work on exotics. Therefore this is not an exotic vet hospital. I would just go in for my rabbits to get a nail trim. I did not like how he handled my male rabbit last time. Grabbing him on the back of the neck, this is an old fashion way of picking up a rabbit. Its actually very harmful because in the back of their necks is extremely soft tissue. I've obtained a lot of research, and dealing with rabbits. I know that they need to see an exotic doctor, but I thought for the nail trimming it would be okay. I've always asked to be in the room, while they get a nail trim. This has always been something Dr Gill was open to. But not this time around, which I had a very weird feeling about that gut intuition feeling, and I'm one to never avoid that feeling. I can't imagine what it would be like if I did go through with that process today. I declined the nail trim even though I was not called or informed. That he cannot work on both my rabbits today because I'm not a regular. He stated this is not a groom parlor, as one of the nurses shout it out when I had a hard time understanding his Language dialect. She said, HE CAN'T let you in on the Nail service. I had asked to hold my bunnies while he trims their nails. Any time a doctor declines that type of service for you to be around your animals. Do not trust it , DO NOT trust, please let this sink in. I went all the way out there from where I live. But it's OK, because as long as I have my two healthy rabbits with no injuries I'm OK with that. I finally had, one of My rabbits nurses come out to do the nail trim. She said thank God you didn't go with Doctor Gill. ZERO stars and Dr. Gill isn't an exotic animal doctor he doesn't even work in exotic animal Hospital. He works with dogs and cats which I wouldn't even trust that. They also sent me home with a pee cup, shaved partially his neck and tried to withdrawal blood from his front paw which is a big NO NO. They wouldn't refund me for the pee cup which was an additional $60 and the blood work they tested for assured me he would get a proper panel screening but instead referred me else where and gave me a possible "this could be wrong with him but not sure" type of answer. After a bad experience where my cat chipped one of her fangs on the metal table and almost ran away at a different vet office due to the roughness and negligence of the staff, my boyfriend and I decided to look for a different vet, and we were shocked after our first visit of how attentive, thorough, and kind the staff was with our pets and understanding with our budget needs and provided detailed estimate and breakdown of cost. Overall the staff are very compassionate animals lovers such as Bob and Monica who have been very kind with my anxious dog and my very shy cat. The staff here are friendly and welcoming, but I have serious concerns about their treatment practices. I brought my dog in for what I believed to be kennel cough since my regular vet was unavailable. Instead of focusing on that concern, the clinic added multiple additional services, injections, and medications that my dog did not need. He was given injections for pain, vomiting, and dehydration, along with an antibiotic injection and two oral antibiotic prescriptions -- all without confirming a diagnosis of kennel cough. I only realized the extent of what was done after reviewing the invoice and researching the medications myself. When I asked the tech what certain things were, they were not able to give a direct answer. While I take responsibility for not asking more questions before agreeing to treatment, I feel the clinic should have been more transparent and cautious about what was necessary versus excessive. I left the vet with my dog whimpering, falling down when trying to stand, barely wanting to move, and struggling to walk when I just came in for kennel cough, all things that weren't issues before we came in. None of the expensive injections ended up helping the kennel cough so it seems like this clinic just wants your money. read more

I now understand why this "clinic" has quick availability for appointments. This place is a Rip off Clinic. I have been taking my new dog there for the past six months, I called them the other day to get a bordatella shot so I could board my dog for the up coming holidays. I was never told they had to give an exam to my dog first, in fact I was just in there two weeks before to have them look at a lump on my dog's back. The doctor did attempt to look at her, but being there just two weeks prior having a needle stuck in my dog to have her lump biopsied, my dog did not want to have the vet exam her. He then took my word that the dog was healthy and gave her the shot. I got the bill and $40 for the shot and $50 for the exam! What Exam? We had an urgent need to see a vet for our elderly dog. They took us in very last minute, and the nurses and vet (Dr. Chhina) were incredibly compassionate and caring. They even called the next morning to check on our dog, and the vet even consulted a neurologist without us asking her to. Unfortunately our dog was doing very badly and we had to euthanize him, but the entire staff was deeply considerate through the whole process, even when my husband and I were a hot mess. Took in a blood gushing dog in for a visit and he said "the dog will live" He didn't come out to talk or look at the paw, he told his assistant in the back tell them "the dog will live" Keep in mind, there was blood all in their lobby. We asked if we should wait to have it seen and he said maybe at 4 which was 40 mins away and even then depended if he came back from lunch. I brought my dog in for an ear infection. My wife and I have been cleaning his ears out regularly with cleaning solution prescribed to us from a past infection a couple years ago. We knew the symptoms but weren't having much luck with this infection this time around. We waited to see the "Doctor" in one of their rooms. After about 15 minutes of waiting a man walks in wearing a trench coat. He doesn't introduce himself as "Doctor" or even give us his name. We have to explain why we're regarding the ear infection. He kneels down and shines a light into my dogs eyes for a bit. Then briefly looks into his ears. He states that it could be a foxtail. This exam took a total of 1 minute max. He then gets up and walks out while saying he will be with us in a few minutes. No less than 3 minutes later the front desk assistant comes into the room with a clipboard and sheet which states that they are requesting to put him under for surgery along with a slew of other charges needed to resolve the "issue". These charges included anesthetic, surgery, post operation medications and other miscellaneous charges totaling 600+ dollars. This place is a fucking joke. This doctor only saw dollar signs and didn't have any regard for my dogs well being. A few days ago I took my dog to another vet which is highly recommended in the area. The doctor their took the time to examine both ears carefully and took a sample of the gunk built up. He needed to time examine it under a microscope and then came out and told us it's a yeast infection. He had applied a medical solution that should last 3 weeks and after that time we are scheduled to come in for a followup. A few months ago I brought my cat in for a basic teeth cleaning. Maybe the staff has changed since then but my experience was not good. Dr Gil was nice but the front vet tech could not even look me in the eye. I didn't like the way she handled my cat either. She was unnecessarily rough. When I came to pick up my cat the bill was $1100!!. I understand they had to remove a couple teeth but they should have called me and let me know about this crazy bill. While I was in shock Dr. Gil said my cat needed methimazole for a thyroid condition. I took his word for it and began the medication. Within a couple days my cat was loosing hair and completely lethargic and in bad shape. These guys never checked up on us, no call backs. I guess they were satisfied they got their money. I went to another Vet in WC and they said that recommendation was way too aggressive. Did a few follow ups at the new vet and the cat has a little bit of a high thyroid reading...but nothing alarming. So beware.... they may just charge you without letting you know ahead of time. They may also tell you your animal needs something they do not. I will never take my animals here again. Get another opinion. read more

I came here here last October and service was pleasant however, when I called to ask for the records to be sent to my dogs insurance, they did not follow through. I contacted them multiple times about getting the records for the visits and every time they would tell me the doctor had not finished the notes yet... and it was already March 2022... even after the doctor 'finished' the notes and told I would be getting them at the end of the day when I called, I still didn't get them. The female Indian doctor was extremely rude, impatient with my questions, and had little to no knowledge to offer after ordering a bunch of tests on our 8yr old dog. Of course when she first met us she acted kind and understanding. We came in scared due to a quarter sized red bump on our dogs chest. The red mass was at first treated as a "bug bite" and then after a week of no change we ordered a biopsy. After $1000 in testing and three weeks of waiting for the vet lady to call, she had ZERO answers in regards to the mass on our dogs chest and alleged thyroid, liver, and pancreatitis results on the blood work she ordered. She wanted to keep ordering tests! That's where we started questioning her care. Sure you can blame us for not knowing enough and falling for it, but at the end of the day, we were definitely fooled into thinking our dogs test results were more alarming than they really were. She claimed he had pancreatitis, was obese, could have thyroid and liver issues... etc. Yet after a second opinion, we realized that this doctor exaggerated the truth on all four of those issue ( we even had the new vet use the same blood work results this horrid vet order and received) Our new vet apologized for Concord Vets unethical care. Of course when we tried to ask concord clinics vet more questions about her exaggerations she became passive aggressive and told us to find care somewhere else! After $1000 in tests she asked us to find care somewhere else! Lol no duh lady but we wanted to give you a chance to explain yourself! Clearly there was nothing you could say because you're a lying scheming *****! Not sure how someone can't be allowed to ask questions when you tell them that their pet isn't doing well. She had us scared for three weeks and later I was told by her assistant the test results were in with a week but she was "backed up on calling patients". Just wow, not okay. Our doggie is doing well. The mass is benign and has finally reduced in size and going away on its own. I'm 1000% if we had continued care here we would have continued to bleed out money. read more

I brought my 2 kittens here for flea shots. It was the worst experience I ever had. Unprofessional and unfriendly staff. They kept trying to sell and charge for unnecessary treatments. Staff was rude and did not answer any questions. One of them rolled their eyes while I was speaking. Staff also handled my kittens VERY ROUGHLY. I was actually appalled. They administered the flea shot for one kitten but then refused to do the second one, even though I already paid for the treatment. I kept asking the nurse and assistant to administer the shot because I did not feel comfortable doing it, but they refused to help. After asking for help multiple times and being ignored, I left. I went to another place to get service because this was ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. My kittens were in obvious discomfort and they DID NOT care for them at all. I highly recommend Concord Veterinary Clinic. My english bulldog puppy, Lilo, had some major health problems when I first adopted her and I wouldn't have got through it without Concord Veterinary Clinic, Dr. Chhina, and their amazing staff. Lilo was having some breathing problems, and during a check up Dr. Chhina realized the severity of this and gave me directions to the nearest hospital. Being a new pet owner, I had no idea Lilo was in such critical condition. I would not have thought to bring her into the hospital and only brought her to the vet because she had a previously scheduled appointment. I truly believe that without Dr. Chhina's professional direction, Lilo would not have made it through the rest of the night. Lilo ended up spending three nights in the hospital. Following her stay in the hospital, I brought her back to Dr. Chhina for a check up which she did free of charge. Not only did Dr.Chhina save Lilo's life, she didn't charge me for either visit- before and and after the hospital. With all the hospital bills I was paying, this was a life saver. For 3 weeks following her hospital stay, Lilo had to get routine x-rays which Dr. Kevin Dosanjh performed for her. He is also such an amazing veternarian. Since I've never had a dog before, this whole process was extremely overwhelming. Dr. Dosanjh took away all that anxiousness by walking me through everything. He personally took me into the x-ray room so that I could understand exactly what was going on with my puppy. He even emailed me the x-rays so that I could see what great progress she was making over her routine x-ray visits. About a month ago we were on vacation and our dog had some how started feeling bad, he had it coming out both ends and at one point started to give me and my wife a good scare. We called CVC and they told us to just bring him in when we got home and we were roughly about 4 to 5 hours away and when we got there they took him in and did some testing unfortunately they had to pass him to an emergency pet hospital so he can stay there through the night. However CVC did a wonderful job on taking care of my dog and I'm very thankful for the staff. They are very friendly and the doctor seems very concerned for the dogs well being.
