Well I visited on this past Thursday. On first site it's put together very well. I love the way the bar was set up, and how the high tables were aligned. Where things went wrong is when I entered the restroom. Now I arrived at 7pm. They opened at 4pm per the flyer. Every trash can was overflowing. Unfortunately the stall I chose had no toilet paper in it. When I checked the other stall there were two large rolls on top of the holder. Next. The bartender was pleasant, but he did seem frustrated at additional questions about the drinks. I ordered a burger with sweet potatoes fries. Hands down the fries were excellent. That burger upset me so bad. On arrival it looked great. That meat was horrible. Now my assumption was that it would be a handmade patty, but to my surprise it was not. "You know what you look like when you assume". I spoke with the bartender about the burger, and he just looked at me. He didn't ask if I wanted something, or even try to take a percentage off. First time being at this spot, overall the place itself is nice. Now when it comes to the kitchen "manager" I'm not sure of her name, but she is Very unprofessional. I've never been to a restaurant where the manager of the kitchen comes out to ask why didn't I like a dish "fish & grits" which I didn't touch I only tasted the grits & gravy that came with it which prompted me to send it back untouched as I wasn't expecting actual gravy to come with fish & grits. Weird combo. She comes from the back ask why didn't I like it I advised her I wasn't aware it came with actually "gravy" I'm thinking it suppose to come with a creamy sauce not "gravy". She then proceeds to say, " well since you sent it back the waiter is responsible for paying for it & walked off. Very unprofessional & I didn't feel comfortable swapping out my dishes as I didn't want anyone to get in trouble. She then goes outside smoking & walking around with others. So fast forward to the ticket, I have $18 in extra "fees" plus tax on top of me tipping. Being this is a black owned spot I try to support but now I see why I prefer to go spend my money at places who value their customers. I would've paid for both dishes as again it was my first time being there, & wasn't aware how they cooked anything so money was never the issue. But moving fwd I will not be coming back. On top of it taking them 30min to bring my Drinks and we had bottomless mimosas & only had 4. Smh that's not bottomless. If you are going to take advantage of people and their funds, atleast have GREAT & Professional customer service! Yall will not be open very long with how yall are conducting business! Thursday is steak night and it's one of the best. The steak is tender and flavorful. The mashed potatoes were delicious and they gave me a crazy big portion. I got the Caesar salad with it- wasn't lacking dressing and was really good. My drink was great and not overpriced. Got a gin martini. The service was great. Very attentive bartenders and kind. Im live in Klein and drove down this way on a trip to Ollie's. I arrived when it had just opened for the day, and was the only customer. I had a hard seltzer, mozzarella sticks, and wings. My mother in law ordered a customized fish sandwich and fries. Both of us were VERY satisfied with our meals. Atmosphere itself was pretty decent as well. Not sure if they have a dj or not- but I think that would be the icing on their cake (djtaeboogie) All in all, it was enjoyable experience and I'd return when I'm in the area. Drinks were ok Appetizer(hot honey bites) only 5 were good, served in a paper basket. Wings, were ok, a bit chewy, also served in a paper basket. Quesadilla, served in a paper basket as well. Music wasn't our preference and didn't seem very appropriate. Not sure of dishes weren't done but paper baskets seemed very odd The bill definitely didn't fit what was mentioned above. It was ok. The best thing we had were the fried goat cheese balls with hot honey. Those were awesome, but there were 5 of them. The hot dog my friend had fell apart and had to be eaten with a fork and knife, but she said it was ok. I had the salmon with cauliflower mash... the salmon was not fresh and it was cooked too long. The mashed cauliflower wasn't mashed or smooth and had zero seasoning. It tasted like it came out of a freezer bag in the microwave. My espresso martini was not good either. My girlfriend and I came here for the first time recently and we had an awesome experience. The ambiance was very grown and sexy. The food was good but the highlights for me were the service and the drinks! Apparently one of the bartenders had called out of work so we were served by the owner himself and another young lady, both of who were very on top of things. After several options for date night, my husband and I decided try Congregate Kitchen due to their vegan menu. The main attraction when you walk in is the beautiful bar that sits front and center. The restaurant is incredibly spacious, clean and very well decorated . The server, even though was training with only ONE order machine, was extremely welcoming and helpful. Impressed with their vegan menu I ordered a vegan burger. Unfortunately they were out of the vegan patties and cheese.. The soda was flat. The regular burger looked nice but when I took a bite a dirty AND moldy piece of lettuce fell out. There is NO way the cook didn't see that.. Needless to say it ruined my appetite. If it wasn't for the eggrolls i would have left not only disappointed but hungry too. My experience happened 2-3 months ago and we haven't gone back.. This place has so much potential. Searching for a new brunch spot, this place fell just a little little bit short. There were literally only three patrons, including us. The chicken and waffles was extremely underwhelming, it was not bad just very dry both the chicken and the waffles. Maybe a little sauce or something could've helped. We sat outside on the patio and watched people coming in and out of the movie theater while drinking our bloody Mary's awaiting the arrival of our food. I was excited to patronize a black owned establishment especially NW Houston. My buddy and I were seated quickly as the restaurant was not very busy except for a party of about 18 women. The service seemed slow but we gave the server a pass because the kitchen was probably overwhelmed with the large group. The food finally arrived, and we found it average at best but it would probably improve with time as the staff would perfect their craft. The outrage was the check presented at the end of the meal. It included an %18 gratuity. There was no signage upon entering the establishment; nothing stated on the website; no indication on the menu; and the server did not inform us prior to our placing an order. I was very disappointed as we would have made a choice to dine here or at another restaurant. I will follow up on this policy with management however as of now, we will not return to patronize this establishment anymore. read more
