We all know they have great food, but I had to submit a review on their service. We had our Christmas party catered Saturday afternoon. The delivery was exactly on time and the delivery guy was fantastic. He would not even let us consider helping set up. What a treat and relief! On Sunday 10-18 I order a pizza from Connies pizza, I never order from them and I decide to order a small deep dish pizza with ground turkey. Mushrooms and onions. When I got my pizza and bit into it was was not done in the inside and it was gooey. As I looked further under into the pizza there were 4 ground turkey pieces a few mushrooms and look to be like that took 2 onions and cut them up large pieces, there were more onions that any of the other ingredients and it was cooked only on the outside like they rushed to cook it. IT WAS AWFUL AND THE WORST PIZZA I EVER HAD.. AWFUL TASTE. I was on my way to work and this was going to be my dinner. I called them as I was leaving and told them and they want to send me another one but I did not want to ever get another pizza from them and the only way I could get my money back is for them to pick up the pizza but I was not home due to I was leaving out for work. Then they told me to take a picture of it and send it to them. This is crazy. They know this pizza was not done or prepared properly rushing to send and uncooked pizza. I was there on Monday 11 am. Asked the manager if there is a way to get a wheelchair up one step on the patio. His response "I don't think so" and walked away. There needs to be a portable ramp to get a wheelchair up on the patio. Sat inside, both Hostesses are AWESOME. Hostess sat us and walked away and FELL on some water on the floor. Luckily she was Ok. Busboy walked by and fell also. Manager walked by and I told him the situation and he put a caution sign and wiped up the water. Thank goodness no one was hurt. I was then having a conversation with the hostess and server about the incident (as women like to do) and the manager came around the corner and got huffy and puffy that we were carrying on a conversation. He told them that he isn't going to hold their hand, ect. He then proceeded to yell in the dining room for a server to set up the downstairs area. He is completely unprofessional and has a chip on his shoulder. I feel bad for the employees that have to work under him. Food and service were great. Expensive for the area, but it seems prices of everything have gone up. $13.99 for a pasta and sauce only. I will not be going back which is quite unfortunate. read more

My family and I always have a great experience here. Inside and on the patio. We have 2 kids and I always worry about the little one, but it always seems to work out at Connie's. It's very family friendly and I've also eaten here for lunch with coworkers. The food is always very good and the drinks are great too. The staff is always friendly, helpful and attentive. Most recently, we had a great experience with the patio hostess Ariel, the manager Edgar, our wonderful brunette waitress (can't remember her name...was a late Sunday afternoon a week ago) and another worker named Rob. They were all so kind and my husband and I were so happy with the whole experience. I was worried about going with kids and these folks went above and beyond and most importantly...made us feel comfortable and I felt I could sit back and relax with the kids, good food and a nice margarita! Went on Fathers day. Big let down. Terrible service. The place wasn't busy yet. The hostess walked people to the dining room dropped the menus and ran. Sometimes the people didn't see the table. Salad was soggy and tastless. Pizza okay after an hour wait except for the small pizza for the kids. It was wet and soggy. Seemed like it was a reheat from frozen.The Spinach dip was great. Sad to say connies pizza on Archer, sevice has gone down. We had like 3 different waiters and still they got the order wrong. They used to serve delicious hot bread to arriving customers, well they don't do that anymore. They now charge $20.00 if you want to bring in a birthday cake. Wow, that is sad. The pizza is not as good as it was in the past. Even the look of the pizza. It used to be look as good as it tasted, not no more. The drinks are not good at all. Its like they are only interested in the almighty dollar and not the loyal customers they are now losing. Connies on Archer was always packed with customers and more waiting to be seated. Not no more, I was there recently and the place was half empty. Now I know why!!! Connies on Archer was once a great place and I didn't even mind waiting to be seated or the big bill after. Connie's makes O.K. Pizzahut type pizzas. The one to really avoid is the "Chicago Style" pizza. It is a stuffed pizza with no sauce on the top, so it has a cooked, browned dough on the top (think calzone, but in the form of a pizza). I've lived in chicago all my life and eated pizza from just about every part of the city, yet I have never see this "Chicago" style pizza any other place but Connie's. read more

This is the first time me and my fiance have dined in at connies, usually we do delivery but we are more than happy with our decision to dine in. We already know their pizza is delicious (personally it's my favorite in the Chicago area) so choosing to dine in was purely for the experience. Speaking of the experience, it was more than exceptional. We were seated quickly and we're served quick as well. Now my fiance is like a fish, he ALWAYS is drinking water and usually everywhere we go to dine in he always has to wait for a refill. However, the waitress at connies quickly noticed that she kept refilling his water and so she brought out the pitcher. He NEVER once asked for a refill and that is rare because usually waiters do not notice how fast he drinks his water. As to the food, we ordered the fried calamari and it was delicious, and came it out as quick as we ordered it. The pizza was perfect, we got the thin crust with spicy sausage with pepperoni. It was so good and didn't take long for it to be ready. Nonetheless, we had a great overall experience and the waitress was Excellent. Definitely coming back! read more

This place was wonderful! I got here at 2 pm after the lunch crowd and before the dinner crowd so naturally we were sat right away with excellent waiter attention. I had the lasagna- OMG! It was absolutely wonderful! It was huge and piled high with mozzarella and ricotta cheese. I have a very large appetite and had not eaten since six that morning so I was famished when I walked in. I could not finish it all! Honestly- the best lasagna I have ever eaten and I was raised in an Italian household with grandparents right from Italy. The sauce was unbelievable! The salad was a true Italian salad- with peppers, olives cheese and a variety of greens and other vegetables! The bread was warm and fresh. I can not say enough good things about this dining experience. I live in south Florida and I am always frustrated with the Italian food there- I can not understand why the Olive Garden is always so busy in my town (I guess old people love bland food). I was overjoyed to finally find a lasagna that I can call "SUPERB"! It is just a shame I had to go all the way to Chicago to find it. Wake up Connie's! We have dined here on Mother's Day after the Sox game for the past 2 years and again, this restaurant has provided sub-par service! Ordered 5 pizzas for our group and a meatball sandwich. All the pizzas came. They were delicious as always but the meatball sandwich was forgotten. It took 20 minutes for it to come out and when it did, it was on an 8 inch piece of bread but only had 2 and a half meatballs on it. Ordered a glass of wine and that too was forgotten. When we brought our concerns to the managers attention, he definitely tried to rectify the situation but what we really want is just good service! read more

Was in the Windy City this past weekend had some Chicago Style pizza at Connie's. THE PIZZA WAS ON POINT!

I've been to Connie's before at this same location on Archer and had a wonderful time. Food was great and service was quick. Today however....whole other story. It's Easter Sunday and my family had never been here before so I decided to bring them for lunch. Big mistake. The food was good but the service was absolutely terrible. Our waitress took far too long to come and check on us to see if we needed anything. She asked if we wanted refills for our sodas and we all said yes. She only refilled half of them and I had to ask her the next time she came around (20 minutes later, not exaggerating) to refill the others. A couple that was seated about 10 minutes later at a table next to us received their food before we did. They got burgers, we had all ordered burgers as well. I had to get up to look for our waitress and ask why our food was taking so long to come out. Once our burgers did arrive, they had toppings we hadn't asked for. We ordered with no pickles or onions and 2 of the 3 burgers had pickles and onions and were overcooked. I have been going to this location for over 15 years and have always had a good experience there but not today. One of the bus boys dropped one of the big trays on my head, at first I didn't know what happened because it happened so fast. The bus boy apologized and never came back, my husband asked if they can bring just a small bag of ice because it hurt, I kept putting pressure where it fell. About 15 minutes later one of the managers came by and asked if I was ok, he gave me the ice and asked if I needed medical attention, I said no we just wanted to leave at that point because my daughters were also getting restless. The waiter came by with our check (I never expect to get anything for free but I was like maybe we will get a discount for the lack of attention on their end and because we'll they did drop a huge tray on my head) all the waiter said was "oh I'm sorry I forgot to charge you for your drinks" we paid and started walking out. That's when the manager saws us again (about half an hour later) and said "he needed to make an incident report" I was already there longer than I wanted to since they messed up our check now I had to stay and do an incident report. They asked for my name, said they would "give us a credit for when we come back" and then we left. The manager had two opportunities to make this better, and he didn't. I understand accidents happen but it seriously felt like they didn't even care, maybe because I was gushing blood or something but it was painful and I'm very disappointed at how they handled the situation. Love the GLUTEN FREE PIZZA! Yes said it, I grew up in Bridgeport and remember the flying truck in the sky they have since removed maybe due to liability reasons but I remember a time when my dad would say "Want Connie's Pizza" as a child and it would bring happiness to my ears. I remember moving away from Chicago at 13 and remember, oh shoot, we have no Connie's pizza here. To my surprise, one day I saw it in the Jewel frozen section! Yes Connie's expanded so much they even have a restaurant in Naperville 30 miles between DeKalb and Chicago. Now, when I worked in Chicago 2005-2006, I LOVED LOVED LOVED their LASAGNA, yes, they do not offer it in other locations other than their original restaurant in Bridgeport so I'd call ahead if you wanted to try it. I do remember the luscious bread (I cannot eat anymore) but I would saturate it in the oh so good OLIVE OIL with some parm cheese if desired but no need, there was a hint of sweetness. Why the 4 stars? If I put 5 yelp gets suspicious haha, as they have filtered my boyfriend's posts. Oh and by the way, we just happen to know if we like something or not so we're not going to always put 3 or 4 stars, 1 and 5 stars are the best to give because it gets to the point. I give this restaurant 5 STARS, 4 stars for yelp's stupid filtering algorithms. What a pity I know...GO GET YOURSELF SOME GLUTEN FREE PIZZA, there is still hope with us with Celiac. The best italian restaurant I've ever ate at.. Went their wit my momma, had the chicken/broccolli alfredo, amazing, fried raviolli and she got the deep dish, I tried a piece, fluffy crust but not enough sauce or cheese. sauage was excellent thou. Oh why did they take down their delivery truck, that was their landmark. Anywho after years of not going down there I went back this weekend. Few things have changed, but the waiters are still great. Well we have one that we always request, but everyone there is amicable. I truly recommend you try this pizza before you leave Chicago if you are visiting. Being in charge of an outing To the Sox game for a group of out of town guests when you are from out of town is no easy task! We chose Connie's for the food and free shuttle. We had a deep dish, a thin crust, and anti pasta salad. All delicious! Excellent, very personable yet efficient waiter. Pizza was fresh and cooked to perfection. While we waited for the pizza, the waiter brought us hot fresh Italian bread. Instead of re-filling up those of us that had ice tea, he left a pitcher of tea, pitcher of ice water and plate of lemons. When dinner was done, we got on the shuttle and avoided the game traffic. There was an hr 40 min rain delay, making the game late. When we got to the designated corner, two vans were waiting for us to get us back to our cars. We got back on the highway with ease. I really like the taste of Connie's pizza. Their sauce is very basic and their cheese has a specific taste, same with their crust. I have treid the stuffed pizza, they need to put more cheese in it. I would have given more start, but they sort of skimped the cheese. Also, this location is awesome because they have a drive through where you can pick up your pizza. Actually, I have never been inside, but based on the reviews, it is nice inside. Also, if you notice, they have emailed people who left them bad reviews in an attempt to fix it. We began working with Connie's about 7 months ago for our wedding. We could not have been more pleased the work the Leica and Cassie have done for us. They went way above and beyond. There were many meetings at A New Leaf (Where the reception was held) that lasted up to three hours, where they were patient and excited, and just striving to give us the most perfect night of our lives. I did not know that hiring them as caterers also meant that they were involved in coordinating the layout, the centerpieces, doing the set-up, the take down, and so much more. Every worry I had they just reassured me the way in which it would be taken care of and it absolutely was. Working with these two was a God-send. They dealt with my OCD, stress, and anxiety, with a smile and just made it all work.Walking into a New Leaf the evening of our wedding was absolutely perfect. The setup was everything I wanted, the food was delicious, and they did not stop there. For dinner, we decided the salad layout be completely separate so people could combine their own toppings...they did this and it was a super hit. People just loved the pasta. They could not figure out why the mostaccioli tasted so good...I had to tell them it was because it was Vodka Sauce and it is the best in town. The chicken and vegetables were snatched up so quickly being they were so tasteful. And then the late night pizza and Chicago hotdogs were a perfect way for our guests to end the evening.
