This is a go to spot for me whenever visiting my home town. If there's one thing Conrad's knows, it's steak tips! If you're not from New England, you won't understand, but trust me, and go try their steak tips. It's a regional thing, and they know how to marinate and cook them to perfection. On my most recent visit, we sat at the bar and caught up with long time friends. Service was friendly, kept our drinks full, and regularly checked in on us. I ordered the steak tips with mashed potatoes and a baked potato, but honestly, should have done double mashed, they were delicious. The interior is a large, open space, so it can get a bit loud, but overall it's very relaxed. My only complaint was being blind sided when the bill came. I had gotten a couple of beers, and assumed they were reasonably priced, but apparently their pints of beer are $15 each, which is much more than I expected. The price for beer was not on the menu, so I suppose I should have asked, but I would have never expected to be raked over the coals for beer. read more

I got the steak tips. They are listed on the menu as " Conrad's Famous " and they are not wrong, so tasty! 6 large tips left plenty of leftovers for the next day. With the option for 2 sides, I should have doubled up on the mashed potatoes, they were that good too! We ate at the bar, and service was friendly, helpful, and prompt. Continuously going downhill each other one I order here. Jacking the prices up while reducing the quality of food, service and accuracy. Every time I ask for a specific sauce, come to pick up, it's late again, give a friendly reminde about the sauce, every time they remember to forget it so I have to waste another 3-5 minutes waiting for that before I can actually leave and eat. Not sure how many more disappointments I got left in me with this place but you can find better quality and service elsewhere in town as long as you're not obsessed with their steak tips. read more

Came here last night for a work holiday dinner. The hostess seemed annoyed with the party in front of us (seemed like they were known to her, possibly family members?) half of our party was already seated so we went and found them. we placed our drink orders and received it relatively quick. placed our orders as well. service was just okay, somewhat lacking. we ordered waters for the table 3 x and it took much too long to receive them. the steak mac and cheese was good but a bit pricey considering the shallow dish it comes in. the rest of our party enjoyed their dishes and drinks. it wasn't very busy for a tuesday night for the service to be lacking so much. read more

I came here for a baby shower. The function room we were in was a perfect size with plenty of space for people to move around. There was even a bathroom off to the side so you didn't have to share with the restaurant patrons. Like most showers, the food was served buffet style. I got caesar salad, fish filet, steak tips and vegetables. Unlike most showers, the food was surprisingly good! The steak tips were some of the best I've had in a while and I couldn't stop talking about them. The other items were delicious as well but the steak tips definitely stood out. We sat close to 20 minutes before my husband got up and asked for a server. To be fair, there was a small line and some confusion at the hostess station. I don't think she knew about us and ended up being very pleasant. The food was...adequate and forgettable. Salads never came. Went back to hostess station/register to pay bill rather than waiting since we had already been there quite a while and an older woman asked me what I was doing as I handed her the bill and credit card. I said I'd like to pay. She looked at it and asked what it was as if I was trying to hand her a severed foot. I repeated myself and she said the server had to handle it. One of our favorite restaurants, especially for pizza. We are equally distant from both the Norwood and Walpole locations but as I was equally distant from both the Norwood and Walpole locations but as I was recently injured we have been favoring Walpole for the ease of parking and getting in and out of the restaurant. Ho, the last two times we were there there was definitely a mouse problem! Last week there were TWO mice scurrying in and out under the empty tables at the entrance to the side room (on the right as you enter the restaurant). VERY disconcerting as you are sitting there trying to enjoy a meal! Once I could easily ignore but BOTH of our last two visits doesn't inspire any confidence that anyone is even concerned about it! I realize that you A) do not want traps visually scattered about a dining establishment and B) it is an inevitable problem in this type of business, but it would seem that regular attention to the situation in the overnight, unpopulated time frames would at least do SOMETHING to keep this from occurring in full view of paying customers! The severs and managers are always so attentive everytime we go. We walked in on Saturday night with 5 adults & 3 littles. They got us a table as soon as they could (and the place was busy!). I've been coming to this restaurant for years now since it's been close to where I live. Lately though both their food and service has been going downhill. I was in here today with someone and got their famous steak tip dinner. Ordered medium rare and got medium rare. Both my baked potato and broccoli were undercooked. Broccoli so underdone I wouldn't even eat it. My friend told me the pasta dish she ordered was very watery. She had also asked for extra butter to come with her meal which was never brought. We both had coffee afterwards. It was fresh but barely lukewarm. There wasn't even sugar on the table. The total bill came to approximately $60. For a steak tip dinner and a pasta dish without meat or sides I have to call that a total rip off. Next time someone asks if I want to come here again I'll definitely say NO! read more

Conrad's was our go-to for years, but I'm left with no choice to leave this review after several bad experiences. The last 4 times we've gotten takeout, the order has been missing pieces of the meal - usually sides like the salad, French fries, and veggies. We usually check before leaving the restaurant. One time the hostess gave me a hard time about the side salad that has been a part of this entree for years, telling me it doesn't come with a salad, even when the salad is on the receipt. We were looking forward to the opening of Conrads in Needham. We dined here recently and were somewhat disappointed with the food. We had the combo grill with steak and turkey tips and the hot honey chicken sandwich. The baked potato for one side was not cooked sufficiently and the vegetable medley was not flavorful. The veges were undercooked. The steak tips were very good. Marinade on the turkey tips was not as flavorful as the steak tips although they were tender. The chicken sandwich seemed small compared to other restaurants with similar sandwich. The best part of our meal was the great service from our waitress. I live in town, and I've been here many times. It's about time I leave a review! I frequent two Conrads: the one here in Walpole, and the one in the center of Norwood. I probably spend more time at the Norwood location, but only because my work is in town. The difference between these two locations is primarily in the crowd. The Walpole location has a younger crowd, where the Norwood location has a more mature crowd. It reminds you of "cheers" if that means anything to you. The menu is quite expansive. They have many options, and I would consider it to be typical "American fare". What they are really known for however, is their steak tips. It's all I get here. The steak tips are absolutely unparalleled, and you won't get them anywhere else as a result. They are perfectly marinated, and they come with your choice of sides, which are also very good. By the way, their salad is very good, so I definitely recommend that. Overall, the service and atmosphere is pretty decent. I've never had a bad experience, and it's just a good all-around casual restaurant to bring the families, or to stop for a beer to watch the game. read more

Unfortunately, tonight has not been our best experience @ Conrad's. Though the food and drinks were fine to above average, the service in general is definitely not up to par. Still waiting for server to return to take dessert order (more than 5 minutes ago), after initial seating and waiting minimum 25 minutes to even be acknowledged. Then further delay with dinner order being taken. The table next to us who were seated after us, halfway done with their dinners, when our order was taken. With 8 patrons actually sitting at the bar itself and 3 staff tending bar, I don't think she was overwhelmed. Oh, dessert just arrived, but we didn't actually order anything. The server must have overheard us discussing options, and made an assumption ??? AND it was NOT the dessert that we would have ordered. In fact it would have been our LAST choice of the dessert options. Choosing NOT to actually name people. Positive note is that we did actually win a little cash on Keno. We used to love coming here. Good good at decent prices. Lately, there is only a/c at one end if the building and the bar end is soooo hot. Also, the last several times we have been in there there has been a foul odor inside. The owner needs to add more a/c and take care of the smell or he'll lose business. read more

We visited from Fl with our family. we were 4 adults and 2 children. our dinner order was placed, 3 meals came with a salad. We hadn't even put our dressing on the salad when our meals appeared. I asked for the manager. She appeared 5 minutes later and asked in the aisle "who is looking for a manager". I told her our situation and she said "I'll take them back to the kitchen". My family said no they'll just put them under the lights. The manager " I tried to help you" and walked away. My thirteen yr old granddaughter said " wow she was rude". Love the food. First visit, very impressed with the simple classy decor including the dark comfy bar and understated beige walls and furniture. Sat at a booth with it's own 19" tv ( didn't use but loved having that option.) Lemondrop martini was yummy and had a generous sugar rim. This was one of the worst meals I've ever had. It looked horrible and tasted bad. The appetizers were dry and tasteless, potato skins. The onion soup was too salty and didn't taste right and had hardly any broth. The croutons were a bunch of stale pieces instead of one big one. The Stuffed Shrimp was horrifying. I should have taken a picture of it. It was five shrimps on a plate with a tiny blob of what looked EXACTLY like feces plopped on each. Not a stuffed dish, just 5 shrimp sitting there on a plate with a tiny blob of dried up disgusting "stuffing" on them. You could see that the "stuffing" had been sitting on the shrimp, THEN they heated it up, since it was all crusty. I visited today for the first time for lunch after a hair appointment locally. Upon entry, there was an foul odor. It smelled to me like vomit. My husband and I decided to sit at the bar and ordered a drink. The bartender was very nice and attentive to us. We ordered the steak tip sandwiches, with fries. We found the prices to be good. I consider it pub food and have no complaints about it. I took 1/2 home as I really needed to leave due to the unpleasant smell of the restaurant. This place looks like a nice pub, and I really want to like it, but what...is...that...smell! I thought it was me but 1/2 way through our visit my husband said to me "What is that funky smell!" A lady came in doused in perfume and my husband said OK, now it smells better, lol! I would try another location but probably not this one again. read more

Conrad's is one of the better-known destinations for "Marinated Steak Tips" (or simply "Tips") in the Boston area. "Tips" are skewered kabobs of cheap beef that have been marinated for days and then grilled over an open flame so that the sweet marinade caramelizes with the charred meat, usually accompanied with slices of peppers and onions grilled on the same skewer. Marinated Steak Tips are a well-established part of Boston's micro-regional cuisine, a menu staple in most family-run American restaurants in the area that is as popular as Clam Chowder and Fenway Franks. It was thus surprising when I left the region that I found that "Tips" are not available elsewhere. I was not disappointed at all with Conrad's "Tips." The marinade is sweet without being distractingly so. Flap steak is usually a very tough cut of beef, but here it has been tenderized with the marinade such that the resulting "Tips" are easy to chew and eat. I was advised by my wonderful Brooklyn-born bartender to order them "medium," which seemed reasonable to me. This is not fancy meat, and if you could eat it and enjoy it medium rare like a more popular chop, you wouldn't be able to buy a pound of it and two sides for $15 like you can here. It's always fun to wonder about the "Steak Tips" marinades, well-guarded secrets of each of these restaurants local to Boston known for their steak tips. If I had to guess Conrad's recipe, I'd say it is principally based on a mixture of Coca-Cola, ketchup, and Italian Dressing - which is similar to how most places around Boston do it, and even one place way out in Southern California that has started to experiment with this: my kitchen. I also had the "French Onion Soup," which was decent for a starter - rather than one circular crouton, they use crouton cubes likely from a bag, which is a bit of a cheat - but I wasn't really here for the soup. Conrad's has two locations relatively close to each other - this well-lit restaurant in Walpole, and the original gloomier location in downtown Norwood, the latter of which is inferior in this diner's humble opinion. Conrad's menu is comfort food oriented, and although I'm sure they do other things well due to their reputation, nothing really jumped out at me as "must try" other than the Steak Tips. I went here last week. I brought my father who currently lives in assistive living nearby. He was excited to get out and have a good meal. I read the yelp reviews and they all pointed to having Conrads steak tips. So dad and I each ordered steak tips. They were not at all what we hoped for. They had an overload of flavors, that weren't good together, so that we couldn't even taste the meat. We went on a Wednesday for lunch. We sat ourselves and our order was taken swiftly and the food came out shortly afterwards. Our waitress and put the bill on the table while we were finishing up but then never came back. My steak tips were raw in the middle and I ordered them to be cooked medium. Here are the events leading up to this disappointing dinner: Our waitress came and took my table's order. 20 minutes later she came back and said "Please don't be mad at me, but I threw out your order slip." We were very forgiving and placed our orders again. Shortly after, our food was served to us by a young girl who was not our waitress. I received French fries on my plate when I had ordered mashed potatoes. The young girl seemed agitated by my kind request for mashed potatoes. When she came back with a side of mashed potatoes she harshly placed them on the table. When I said thank you, her response was, "yup" in a very rude tone. After being served our food and finally having my correct order, I cut into my steak tips and they were raw. Our waitress passed by our table 3 times, but never came over to check in and didn't notice me trying to signal her over. However, she was friends with the people at the table next to us, and she checked in on them multiple times. By the time she came, 28 minutes later, my friend was done eating and we were ready for the check. The waitress did give me a free dessert to go, and felt badly when she realized that she never checked in on us. I left without eating. Absolutely the worst French onion soup I've ever had. Brown garlic water over hard as a rock croutons, not even hot.... like that mattered. Baked stuffed chicken as an entree not any better. I had a room rented for my mother's celebration of life and the blonde lady was so rude to me and my family. My mothers picture fell on the floor and we simply wanted to put it on the table but she yelled "I just cleaned that" rudely.
