Fast food but it was better than I expected and prices are pre-pandemic. Patio seating and a good option for grubbin' if you want something super casual.

What's up NC state. So funny story, all the other managers at NC state were telling me since I'm not from here, I had to get one of two things (1/2). So consider this the first one. COOKOUT! Cookout is a fast food restaurant known for their expansive menu, low prices and large portions... really all I could ask for. I came after the last day of the Kevin Keats camp with two of my buds and one guy (from NC) said had to get a tray and sub for a milkshake. I ordered a burger, chicken quesadilla, fries and subbed my drink for a PB shake ($1.50 extra) Overall the food was fine, nothing crazy nothing insane. The burger was solid but mediocre. Chicken quesadilla tasted like Taco Bell (absolutely not an insult) and the fries were standard. The shake was meh. But holy F get the cookout sauce. Bruh it's amazing. Tasted good with everything I ate. I also ordered a shirt for $3 but they forgot to give it to me.... So subtract 3 bucks from my order It's fine food, great for college students, I'd love to try it again but get some diff food. Maybe try some other sandwiches/sides. Pretty pleased with this much food for basically less than $10 3.75/5

A hair stuck to the inside of my cup.

You have got to be kidding me. I am disgusted I finished this entire drink.... I dumped the ice out before throwing it away and then see this.

So for anyone outside of North Carolina, Cook Out is a drive through staple with many choices. My tip would be look at the menu before you get in the line because once you are in front of the speaker with a dozen cars behind you there is NO TIME to decide. Also if you didn't know Cook Out has 30 different flavors of shakes...yes...30...! For our order we got a couple of Slaw Dogs a hamburger, some fries (which were great) and two pumpkin pie shakes. The shakes had pieces of pie crust in them and no lie tasted like a creamy pumpkin pie. The people who work there are on fire because cars just keep coming and the wait time is minimal.

    plastic in my quesadilla wtf?

service was great but when my girlfriend bit into her quesadilla she pulled out this plastic along with it

Cook out is a classic fast food place in the south, and I'm so glad I got to try it! If you like cheap, heavy, but yummy fast food then this is the spot for you. Their service is fast, and you eat outside on the tables after getting your food. Their milkshakes are so thick, you have to eat it with a spoon, but it's so delicious. I got a cookout tray with a burger, fries, and chicken nuggets. Would recommend stopping by if you enjoy American fast food!

Fast and kind service. Line and efficiency was amazing. Got a 2 dollar T shirt with my tray meal of course. Classic cook out vibe. My friends got the peach milkshake and it was her first time going to any cookout and she loved it. My Reese's milk shake, corn dog and cheese bites couldn't have been better. The burger was maybe a tad dryer than others I've had from cookout but overall a great experience.

    That's nasty

You get one sauce packet free PER TRANSACTION not even per item and the rest is $.75... that is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

Cook out is a great place to get some burgers to go. I'm particularly fond of the chili cheeseburgers. Excellent BBQ too.

Service could be better, but it's not bad. Decor and the bar were very cool and well designed parts of the restaurant. We ordered the Alabama Slammer and Classic Cheeseburger with truffle fries. We received regular fries at first, but were able to get what we originally ordered (truffle fries) after talking to the servers. If you order the truffle fries, make sure to grab a fork or extra napkins (or both)! Eating them gets real messy. Overall, a nice, casual burger spot in Raleigh with great fries.

Located in the newer section of North Hills, CowBar is a more sophisticated rendition of their Morgan Street Food Hall location. Very similar with maybe a few extras, you order up front, get a number, self-service soft drinks and condiments in the back and wait for you eats. Pick up your meal at the counter and it's time to eat! I did their popular truffle burger with fries Italiano and OMG! The burger was amazingly tender, rich and delicious. Tender grilled beef, smoky Gouda cheese, caramelized onions and truffle flavoring throughout. The skin-on fries with shaved parm, rosemary and garlic made for the perfect side. While the bar is not open yet, it looks like CowBar North Hills will have some beers and drinks to go with your burger. Overall I am super happy with what I experienced at CowBar. While the food is a touch pricey, it's totally worth the money and a better option to dine here, versus a crowded, noisy spot. Enjoy, Raleigh. You may have the best burger in the Triangle with CowBar!

Our waitress was kind and went over the menu with us. Our orders: side of fries Well-fed (4 proteins and 2 sides) 2 of us shared Burnt ends plate with 2 sides We know that NC barbecue is NOT SC barbecue but anywho, the portion size was not what we expected for the Well-Fed nor did it match previous photos we'd seen. Our food was cold but tasty except for the macaroni and cheese, my daughters hated it. We politely let our waitress know and she took our plate back and the kitchen in turn, provided us with a whole new plate of food. We were ready to dig in but this time, the barbecue lacked flavor and my daughters were so disappointed and were ready to leave. I definitely appreciated the kitchen for trying to make it right but I don't think we'll be returning on our next trip to Raleigh.
