Wow, what a nice surprise. I was driving through NC and called a Charlotte friend of mine in need a place for lunch. He suggested The Diamond (http://www.diamondcharlotte.com/) or any Cook Out restaurant along the way. He said "it's fast food, but I think you'll be surprised." Shortly after we spoke we stopped at the first (of many) Cook Out restaurants along the way. My first thought was "damn, I guess the owner is really into NASCAR". Then I remembered we were in NC and just outside Charlotte, of course there was NASCAR stuff everywhere. After looking past the NASCAR tribute I saw that it place was clean (even the bathroom), the staff were friendly, price was fair and food was tasty. I told my wife "I feel like this is the Chick-Fil-A of burgers. Something I like is that they cook your burger after you order. It hasn't been sitting under a hot lamp, it's straight off the grill. Suffice to say it was delicious. I ordered a Huge (1/2 lb)Cook Out style with chili, onions, mustard, coleslaw and cheese. It was hot, juicy and tasty. Cajun fries were solid and my beverage, Cheer Wine! Only in NC will you find Cheer Wine in drink dispenser. My wife commented that her coleslaw wasn't all gross and full of mayo. She also commented that it was an appropriate amount of food, not over the top. The price was about where it should be for two adult, $12. I saw on the menu there was BBQ chicken too. Few times in my life have I ever been disappointed. Today was the worst by trip that I've ever had to any fast food establishment EVER I was astonished I couldn't even fathom the fact of someone utterly screwing my order up as bad as they did to me. Everything was fine other than having to repeat my order into the speakerphone a few times but that's fine it's whatever I understand that but what comes next is just beyond my belief, I pray to God and everything that's holy that nobody has to endure what I have on this very night. Here I thought that I could live in this small little dream forever but reality decided to give me a cold wake up call and I wish it never did. My order was plain and simple really not much to it at all, all I ordered was a tray of chicken tenders and 2 sides of chicken nuggets with a honey mustard as a sauce because I mean who can have CHICKEN WITHOUT HONEY MUSTARD. So I drive up to the window get my food and check to see if it's right after driving off and you can't mess up this order I honestly don't think there is anything much simpler to make then this. So, in my opinion, this had to of been a prank or something since there is no way someone does this on accident. In my book, I would consider this day a tragedy for a respected person like me. THEY FORGOT THE HONEY F'ING MUSTARD, HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO EAT MY CHICKEN NUGGETS LET ALONE TENDERS WITHOUT HONEY MUSTARD. Sugar and HF Corn Syrup in the Ketchup...okay fine. It's pre-packaged. Same goes for the corn dogs. A little sweet, but okay. The straw that broke this camel's back was the sugar burger. The slaw was so overly sweet it literally cut the tang of the mustard to nothing and I could not taste the meat in the burger. Will not be going back. read more

They need to have the watermelon milkshake all year round!!! Also, they need to change the grease when they cook because their chicken tenders and fries are gross with no flavor. Do not trust this cookout. I went through the drive thru and was charged $15.00 for my food and then there was a second charge for $10.00 on my bank statement. I went back to the restaurant and spoke to the manager and he didn't seem to care at all. He seemed confused and quite honestly didn't seem like a manager. He didn't apologize or even blink an eye. He gave me $10.00 cash from the register and then just shut the window. read more

The products here are so-so and the chicken fingers looked and tasted like it was from a frozen section of a general grocery store. Yuck! We threw the food away after a few bites and went somewhere else. If ever in this region again, we will just stick with visiting a Trader Joe's. One thumb down. read more

Food was okay, the restaurant itself could have withstood a deep cleaning and a few fresh coats of paint.. The parking lot was awkward. All in all not a horrible stop on a road trip but not the best. Upgrades are needed. Hush puppies were on point though! read more

When I ordered I made Very clear that I specifically wanted a Cheese quesadilla (even made sure he repeated it back to me properly) but when I had gotten further down the road and opened up my food it was Stuffed with chicken. This wouldn't have been that big of a deal except for the fact that I'm vegetarian and am now left with Nothing to eat. I was too far down the road to turn around so I tried calling to complain but even after trying three times No one was answering the phone. The excellent customer service is what made the experience and food even better! The young ladies wished my sister a get well for her being sick and they were so attentive! Plus, the price for the amount of food we got was amazing! About $13 for two cookout trays, which including one upgrade to a fancy chocolate chip cheesecake milkshake that was so thick, creamy, and delicious. I definitely recommend Cookout! read more

Last night about 6:30pm to 7:00pm my sister and her son and my daughter and myself went thru drive thru for milkshakes. I asked if they had kids sizes the girl at the drive thru said no but before she cut the microphone off a guy in the back ground said get out of the Dam drive thru. I got out and went into Cook-Out to complain to manager(which is a young teenager. My sister was waiting at drive thru to get our order i walked up to car to get in and that same manager was at the drive thru laughing at me for what i just told him. If there was ever a restaurant that displayed the management's total disregard for their business success, this is it. It reeks of "I don't care". The "cheddar cheese" on my hamburger was nothing more than a squirt of nacho cheese goo. There was no ketchup dispenser only little packets that were gooey and dirty. A customer came up to the counter and got a handful of plastic spoons to put in the container in the dining area because no one at the restaurant was paying any attention to what was or was not gone. I asked for a burger cooked medium or medium rare and was told they only cook them through and through. The guy at the cash register was so slow he made molasses in January look fast. He appeared not to have the slightest clue about anything. They do not serve any coffee. Never again will I go to a Cookout restaurant. Based on what I saw, if I owned this place I would just lock the doors and not bother with it, which appears to be what they are doing with the doors open. read more
