Truly awful. Seafood, right in the middle of Cape Cod, and it represents the worst of New England cooking. Clam chowder? Chowder should taste like the ocean. Rich, briny and the essence of clams. Here it is a thick glop of flour and milk. Clam pudding without the clams. Stuffed quahog for 4.50 and again no evidence of a clam having even been near it. An 18 dollar small order of fried clams was not recognizable as clams. Fried clam parts, half without bellies. Great place for dinner. Easy to dine in or take out. The lime to order took a while but there was plenty of seating. You order at the front, then find a seat and wait for them to call your number. If I were to just judge this place for the lobster roll I ate I would give it 5 stars. There were two options, the 4 ounce version and the 8 ounce version. There should really be a 6 ounce version too since the 4 is slightly small and the 8 ounce is over kill; and most people don't want to spend $25 on just the sandwich. Anyway, I ate the 4 ounce portion and it was very good and price well! They got the bun perfectly crisp on the grill and it had a nice piece of lettuce on it. The lobster meat was also very good and had a good amount of mayo on it. If you went with the larger portion you'd have to go lighter on the mayo because it would be overkill and too rich. I think the prices were reasonable because the place was very generic looking inside and it wasn't full service. Overall it was a very good lobster roll that was reasonably priced. If you're looking for ocean views and top notch service this isn't your place. read more

In the summer it is hard for any local to get out and about especially to a fried seafood place. I have been here at least once a year since they opened in this location. This is not necessarily the best seafood on the cape but it is convenient, reasonably priced and never overly greasy. Today was the first time I actually sat and ate in the restaurant. My wife and I are visiting the Cape for our 35th anniversary and wanted to have a seafood dinner on our first night. We read the reviews online and were satisfied that Cooke's seemed to be a good place to have that dinner since they advertise that they have the best seafood on the Cape! To say the least we were very disappointed! The cashier taking our order was pleasant enough but was clearly overwhelmed as there was only 1 register open and there was a line that was about 15 people deep. To her credit she handled everything like a pro! Once we were seated we waited for a short time for our food to arrive. This is where things plummeted beyond belief. I ordered the $26.95 broiled seafood dinner and a cup of New England clam chowder, and my wife ordered the baked stuffed shrimp special for $16.95. My seafood dinner looked as if it came straight out of the microwave and was honestly tasteless. I had no problem with the styrofoam plate the food came out on but for the quality of the food I may as well have eaten the plate! The chowder tasted like it came out of a can and not homemade at all. As for my wife's meal, the shrimp were well cooked but the stuffing was overwhelmingly riddled with peppers. You could hardly taste the shrimp in the dish. The only flavor available was that of the peppers. I would not ever return to Cooke's and could not recommend it to anyone who reads this! read more

Never Ever Ever Again . We went there last night three adults , three kids . Our dinner came out but mine was missing . So as it came out at three different times, I waited . So after five mins I went to ask where my salmon dinner was, the cashier passed me along to the manager she went to the chef who said it went out with the lobster . I said it didn't , she said but the chef said it did. So then she said can I follow you to your table to check . So she did . She repeated but the chef said it came out and so If I didn't get it someone else just have ... Well no one got there food as same time as us ... She then said again, well the chef said he cooked it . And we all looked at her and were just speechless , she is basically saying I am hiding my salmon platter . She then offered me a bowl of chowder , which I don't like . I said no thanks and so she walked away. We did go to her after to get refunded but she kept repeating that it went out and that the waitress is trained to bring the whole order at one time . Our order came at three different times. OK, it's a long ride from Hyannis for a piece of fish, but if you are nostalgic for the good old days of Cooke's, visit the near replica in Mashpee. I believe each of the three Cooke's on Cape Cod now has a separate owner, so the old Hyannis owners have not surfaced in Mashpee. But their menu has! Went there on a Friday night, Aug.2nd, dying for some fried oysters, they were out at 7 pm, so I settled for a whole fried clams platter. I got 12 clams and a load of frys, the clams were tough and chewy, if this place was voted Cape Cod's best, God help the cape. read more

The food is generally pretty good, but expensive and they offer smaller portions relative to other places close by. We dropped $120 last night for 4 dinners, a jumbo lobster roll, and a salad, and it took them three times to get the order right. They also somehow mixed coffee into the iced tea and it took them 30 minutes to brew a new batch. I would recommend people stay away from the jumbo lobster roll, as it is overpriced for what you actually receive. We generally eat here every time we visit the Cape, but we are unlikely to return because of the high prices, small portions, and inconsistent service. Truly dissappointing. read more
