Cool Beans cafe is a cute coffee shop in NSB. We really enjoyed our coffees that we got. I probably wouldn't get mine again because it was very chocolate forward, which is on me, not on them. Cool beans is my go to Coffee shop whenever I visit New Smyrna. It's a super cute coffee shop where you can find ice cream, pastries and cute items sold by local stores. We saw this sign on the street that said GELATO and we had to stop by. The place is super cute. They not only offer coffee and gelato but also desserts like baklava and macaroons. Ordered an iced latte. Watched as the barista didn't pull a shot but instead grabbed a Pyrex measuring cup that already had espresso sitting in it and dumped it over ice and the filled with milk. Located off of Flagler, about a half block in, Cool Beans and More offers good coffee, a respite and some other menu items worth the stop. I stopped in late morning at the end of April and decided to grab a cup of coffee and work remotely for a bit. A couple of student-types were outside on the patio seating and another person inside appeared to be on a Zoom call. The atmosphere was pretty laid-back. The barista was friendly and very helpful. With her assistance I ordered the drip coffee for the day since it was a medium Nicaraguan, roasted by Island Roasters Coffee, a local roaster. And it was good black! Before I left, I ordered an iced mocha to go. Dairy and non-dairy options are available as ingredients or add-in's. When I ordered the 12 oz the price was $1.85 before tax. While I was hanging out there, the barista changed the menu price on the wall for all sizes of the drip and the 12 oz became a $2.65 purchase. Inflation happened before my eyes and I was really glad to have ordered sooner than later! Several customers stopped in during the short time I was there and purchased tea, coffee, and gelato. Better to be a walk-in off the street than parking in the lot. (More on that later.) The menu offered plenty of coffee options and the cold brew section caught my eye with names like "Coco Loco" and "Aloha Beaches." While the inside has limited seating - a couple tables and bar seating around the perimeter- the patio outside offers more tables, chairs and umbrellas (for the summer sun). WiFi is available and possibly "Friends" will be streaming inside, like it was on the day I visited. Worth mentioning: The owner of the building walked in the front door and spoke to the barista that customers had a 30 min limit for parking in back and on WiFi. This action dropped my review from 5 to 4 stars. read more

This is almost hidden in New Smyrna, you really have to search for it! It's a small little coffee shop, it advertised a strawberry coffee that sounded really cool! When entering the small shop the wait staff was young, not busy, no one greeted us. They were not very friendly or helpful. Definitely a coffee shop, but also an Italian ice place. They have the big ol' professional espresso machine, so I was glad to see that. They might be serving local coffee- as I saw they sell bags of local coffee. I had a dirty chai latte. It was delicious, as expected. The reason I went for that, is they seem to have quite a bit of fancy tea. She offered me a free shot of espresso in addition to my drink. Guess she accidentally made an extra. I declined, but that was kind! My date had the cold brew. He was not as excited about this place having fewer options for coffees. But they have what you need. They're kinda off the street a bit, tucked into a cute garden/patio area that appears to be shared space. There are a few tables out there and some seating inside. We stopped in here during a very brief visit to New Smyrna. I'm an ice cream fan, but as I get older I find that I have dairy intolerance at times. I had Italian ice a bit as a kid, but it's something I've gotten more into as an ice cream substitute. I had recently been to Rita's in West Palm Beach and that made me fall in love with this frozen treat. So as we browsed Flagler Ave, I got excited when I saw a sign for Italian ice. Cool Beans is located in a super cute courtyard. It was peaceful and quiet. We each had a small frozen ice. It was very flavorful and just as delicious as Rita's. They get two thumbs up from hubby and me! I doubt we will visit New Smyrna again anytime soon, but I would definitely come back to Cool Beans. read more

A small but delicious coffee shop! There are a couple tables inside but seating outside, as well. I normally just grab and head to the beach but the coffee is always delicious. The barista is friendly. She always accommodates if you want to try something new and offers suggestions. I think prices are fair to any other coffee shop and this one has TONs of options (syrups, sugar free syrups, milks, etc). I've been here on several occasions and delayed reviewing this business based on a few of the previous reviews. When a business offers such a limited menu consisting mainly of coffee drinks and Italian ice it's important that the focus is on customer service as much or more than the quality of their products, even in a town where vacationers, beach-goers and snowbirds provide an almost inexhaustible cash flow. This town's history is filled with stories of failed businesses that ignored that philosophy, as a local I'm willing to accept the fact that for most of the year my loyalty means very little in terms of revenue for a lot of local businesses along Flagler Ave, but the off season means no lines, no waiting and I can pick and choose how and where I spend my money and for me the customer service aspect many times is the deciding factor. Cools Beans happens to be a great small business and one that I'm happy to see surviving on Flagler Ave. and although they don't make anything per say being the Italian ice is purchased from a quality supplier that uses premium ingredients and the coffee is supplied by Island Roasters another local business located just west of here on the north causeway who reputation is solid and one I'd want to be associated with if I owned this small niche business, so it really all boils down to customer service. My experiences here have be very positive, the prices are a little steep but the quality of the products definitely makes it a good value. The customer service has been exceptional and the courtyard setting is beautiful and relaxing and the occasional live music is a nice touch. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a great cup of coffee or who's looking for a cool Italian ice from their large selection of flavors and I will continue to favor it over the other options. read more
