Last night we went with our son and his wife. As always it was awesome! WAIT STAFF was great. Had a very nice server, quite pleasant and professional. A lot of people on here said they had a bad experience with the wait staff but we liked our server. Emilia was so nice and was the one bright spot of the experience. FOOD was tasteless and bland. Both my wife and I had the filet. Both lacked taste. The vegetables were tasteless as well. My pre-meal wedge salad had zero flavor. The pre-meal bread was rocklike. My drink was so watered down I may as well have ordered water. I don't salt my food, so I forced down as much as I could and left the rest for the trash (more than half my steak and all my vegetables). The trash was the right place for our meals. read more

Twice I have ordered carry out from this establishment, twice they have made major mistakes with my order. Tonight my New Year's Eve order consisted of two prime rib specials and three kid meals. They read off my order when I picked it up, indicating that everything I ordered was provided. I got home to find a prime rib dinner, a salad, and a soup missing. I went back to the restaurant after calling them, picking up the missing items. I got out to the parking lot only to find that one of the items provided was incorrect. I went back in, and it took them about 10 minutes more to provide my missing Caesar salad. At this point the rest of my food was pretty darn cool. No apology was provided for the second mistake, and I would've expected that they could have comped me some thing like dessert given the inconvenience. My family ended up eating their New Year's dinner without me while I dealt with the situation. I wasn't going to have them eating cold food as well. We've been coming to Cooper's Corner for years with my wife, son, and mother-in-law - which is one her favorite places as they cater to more of the baby-boomer crowd. I see a lot of families eat here and the occassional office holiday party. Basically, this place is what it is: a good ole fashioned Amercian steak house with entertainment - so don't go in there looking for fru-fru glutten free, wholistic llama milk, tofu substitue, vegan friendly anything. The kitchen does well with their appitizers, steak and chop diners, bbq ribs, sandwhiches, and deserts are gargantuan. On occassion I've ventured into their pastas and seafood items and have been disappointed with some items. Full service bar with liquor, beer, and wine. Drinks are a little pricey, but they are made correctly and a little on the stiff side, so I don't mind paying a little extra. They have a good selection of wines which pair well with their food menu. Now, a few comments on service. There are a few "hots" and a few "nots". If you are seated with and waited on by a very mild mannered cheerful lady with a friednly and pleasant face and hair in a short blonde bob; or a very tall and slender young lady (probably in or finishing college); then you are in good hands, and if you return, I suggest you ask for them specifically. No I can't recommend this restaurant. My wife and I were at Cantigny and I made a reservation for dinner. We got to go the restaurant 10 minutes early and we observed the host was frazzled and there was only one couple ahead of us. We checked in, he asked us to wait a minute and within 2 minutes we were seated. There was 2 waitresses and one waiter. After 15 minutes a waitress asked if we were helped yet and we said no. She then asked do we want drinks and we said water was fine. She then came back set the water down and didn't ask anything. Another 5 minutes and as she ran by my wife asked if we could order an appetizer and she said yes and went off to another table. And we waited. And waited. A couple came in then, they sat down and ordered two beers and the waiter came back and they ordered their dinner. He then brought them their salads and at that point after wasting 35 minutes we got up and she then came over and asked if we were ready to order. You Fucking kidding me! I understand they were short staffed, but don't seat us if you are not ready to serve us. We would have been understanding if we had to wait 15 minutes as long as we were taken care of, but to totally ignore us, and the host saw the menus in our table as he went by 20 minutes after seating us and was totally oblivious. So me and my roommate were in the area bailing a friend out from jail (lol I know how this sounds) but apparently processing takes forever so we decided to find a bar near by while we waited. I wasn't prepared to be in public (I literally just woke up and had my pjs on) so I was super nervous to go in. We get to the bar and tell the bartender Tina (I hope this is her name. She is blonde and working the Sunday shift) and nearby customers who were regulars over heard our story as to why we were there and immediately accepted and the customers bought us a round of shots. We waited for two hours and during that time I felt like this was a bar I've going to forever. It was so laid back and felt like family. When we got the call to pick up our friend... everyone at the bar including our bartender requested us to come back and meet our friend. We made good on our word and returned. Everyone made jokes and gave him crap then Tina got him a shot on the house. Honestly having to start a bad day with bad news and then being at this bar made it better and made it fun and put me in a great mood. If I didn't live so far I would be a regular myself. Thanks for responding Steve, but your staff was allowing people in and seating them without masks. No one ever asked or reminded a patron walking through the restaurant without a mask to do so. There are no divider between tables, only your booths. We were seated at a table, where my chair when I sat was only about 12" from the person behind me. There needed to be at least two less tables in there to maintain separation from all others, and not just blocked off tables. The tables were too close and blocking off would not allow spacing in all directions, you'd have to remove a few to allow that. As I said, we were seated in a different area when it I brought it up, but the patrons should not have to be put in that situation. And, where we were seated, people traversing between their seats, the exit, and the restrooms passed by us. With the majority of them were not wearing masks, it was not a good visit. I am equally disappointed when I see it happening to others as well. So despite the fact that I may be seated properly, seeing others violating or being violated by a facility's lack of maintaining adherence to the rule is just as disappointing. read more

Attended the Easter Brunch this past Sunday and it was a total mess. First of all they over booked the reservations and there was absolutely no organization whatsoever. This was our first time here bc my dad lives down the street and had recommended it. This is my new favorite place. I wish I lived closer! I had the bacon wrapped scallops and my boyfriend had the chicken parmesan. We shared and both dishes were absolutely delicious! I had their french onion soup, which was amazing and he had the cream of chicken with rice, which was the best I've ever had anywhere! They served a fresh warm bread and butter with the soup that had some seasoning on top of the loaf. I really didn't want to fill up on bread but I couldn't stop myself from picking at it! haha Our server Alexander was super friendly and on top of things and didn't mind my 100 questions since it was our first time. There is a bar area that is very casual and they have a fancier dining area that you can choose as well. I'm not sure about wine prices because they aren't listed on the menu, but most of their mixed drinks were just $5. The food prices really depend on what you order. They have sandwiches and pastas that are more from the $12-16 range and they have steaks and seafood that are more the $20 range. There are plenty of options. There is even a buy one entree, get one 1/2 off on their website that you're able to use. We WILL be back, and hopefully very soon! read more

They recommended the two Salmon dishes and so three of us ordered them.... at about 5:30 on a Sunday they came back to inform us that they were all out of Salmon. We were offered the Tilapia. .but that's barely even a fish. We had the Chateaubriand appetizer which was pretty good if not slightly overpowered by the crispy onions. We also had the saganaki (tasty and just for fun) The Caesar salad was tasty but lacking.. Due to the lack of real seafood. .. my three companions ordered the Prime Rib.. They said it was good.. it looked like it. I got the 14oz strip steak... it was a little on the thin side but perfectly cooked and properly seasoned.. very tasty. The grilled veggies were cooked perfectly and the garlic mashed potatoes...yummy. Four of us for dinner.. bottle of Rodney Strong Cabernet ($40) a few beers and a bill without the tip under $200. For this wisconsinite, it was nice to find a nice, friendly, quiet place to eat lunch before our appointment across the street. The cream of chicken soup was really yummy, and the BLT was HUGE. I did have to take some tomatoes off, but that's me, not them, I just don't like too many tomatoes, because I'm a freak. My wife loved her steak sandwich, and the service was friendly and attentive. I was excited to finally try this place. I have to say, I was let down. I called in a pick up order and got the build your own chicken sandwich. I asked for chicken with mozzarella and bacon and my husband got the Santa Fe order. I went in to pick up my order and had to wait a good 5 minutes to be helped. The Cubs are on so I was okay with letting that slide since I knew they were busy. I get my order and rush home to get back to the game. When I open up my to go box, I find a plain chicken sandwich, no mozzarella, no bacon. Everything I ordered was listed right on the receipt. The GPS in my phone took me in the wrong direction on Roosevelt road heading out to this place from Lisle...I have three GPS apps in my phone exactly for this reason, Waze took me right to the place with no problem. I met a friend here on a Sunday at 3pm...parking lot was very empty, which made me wonder what was up. When we walked in, we waited a bit as no one was at the desk to seat us. Made me wonder if they were open? They opened at noon, and a few hours later it wasn't crowded at all...this information means nothing besides the fact you won't have to wait at all at this time. They have a lot of great things on their menu, it was a little hard for me to decide but I ended up getting the Mackinac Island Chicken Salad Melt - something you don't exactly see on other menus with a side of mashed potatoes. For starters I had a cup of their soup of the day which was potato bacon - both were very good. I enjoyed my meal here. Service was fine too - we didn't feel at all rushed and could sit and enjoy our meals and conversation. read more

As of last night we are FORMER customers. We have been regulars as we love the music there. Great bands we can dance to. We have tolerated mediocre food and spotty service. But the last three visits have broken all trust in this place. Last night we waited 40 minutes in our booth for server to come with water and take a drink order. After being seated no one on the wait staff acknowledged that we were there. The hostess walked by twice smiled but said nothing, failing to notice no water glasses on the table. The Manager(Owner??) was busy chatting up the hostess at the front desk, never toured the room to see how things were going. From our over 20 visits there this is typical of him. He needs to go to restaurant school and learn how to manage. On our visit before this we arrived and were told our reserved booth was not available. We always make reservations for 7:30 as that is when the music starts. They said our reservation was for 6:00 and they held it half hour before giving it away. They have heartily found us an uncomfortable highboy table in about 15 minutes. The only good point was that this table belonged to the only good waitress they did have (She was not there last night, quit????). The visit two time ago (about a month ago) we sat in our booth for 30 minutes before we confronted a hostess about no service. They gave us a busboy as a waiter. He was slow and unavailable the entire night. Example it took 10 minutes to flag him down for the check. He takes off and it takes another 5 minutes to flag him down to hand him the credit card. It take a long time for him to come back. Leaves the bill and card, but no pen to sign the check with. Have to struggle to flag him down again. I tip good. Always have, especially to places I know we will be going back to. 20%-30% or more. $20.00 on a $65.00 bill. But I also write short notes if service has been less that average. The management of this place just plain sucks. They do not care. Just put in a good band and who cares about anything else. No service standards at all. I have been to Cooper's many times. Each time the experience is drastically different. It goes from poor to good and back again. This last time was horrible. We were there to celebrate birthdays. The service was lacking, to say the least. It seemed like they were short staffed as there was one waitress for the bar area tables and she wasn't very friendly. The food came out at different times. The food was not good at all--ordered the fish fry, ribs, and appetizers. The fish fry was tasteless at best and the ribs took so long that the rest of us were finished by the time his meal came out. It was the final bad experience. After many chances, we have made the decision not eat at this facility again. Beware of what you might get there. As my friend, whom I went out with, put it "I wanted to like it". She said she'd probably give it another try, I probably won't just because that style of food / building aren't my preferred cuisine, just hers. This place is family owned, nicely decorated, and quiet. We were greeted kindly and they even waited to ask if I wanted to watch the game or be sat at a restaurant table. We got confused who was waiting on us. We were first approached several times by a man and then once we had finally gotten around to looking at the whole menu and decided, we were approached by a woman who said she was our waitress. The waitress took our orders and disappeared. The food presentation was good but my friend's steak wasn't cooked appropriately. The waitress eventually came back where my friend sent her steak back. Upon the return of the new steak the waitress just disappeared before my friend had a chance to cut into the steak. I think mostly we had a very mediocre waitress. Primary comments: 1) If there is an up-charge to a side, always remind the customer, even if it is posted on the menu because the customer may not even have known that a salad was part of their meal. 2) If you want to be a reputable steak restaurant that best thing I have ever seen is to ask the customer to cut the steak before you leave the first time. Customers who order rare - medium tend to really like their steak the way that they ask for it and will know the difference. And most won't accept anything else. 3) Some jobs can get away with the person being non-talkative, not very social. The best waiters and waitresses will be socialable people not just going through the motions of the job. read more

They should really spruce it up to get more young people in: less plants; maybe some black color paint...peaked into the bar, tons of TVs and more upbeat, will probably sit there next time Server: I'm not naming names but she was very grumpy we think because she didn't get the party in the next room. she didn't seem to want to be there. Also, I asked for input because I always do (servers if they're good know the most about the food besides the cooks)..she knew what people ordered but she didn't know how any of the food actually tasted which I think is a bad sign of #1 management #2 that the food isn't the best. Food: fancy presentation; served covered, banquet style. The mashed potatoes were piped out all fancy BUT they were barely warm. When you serve them like that I'm wondering if they're piping them on a sheet pan and heating each to order..they need to think of a different way to make them warmer..the steaks were juicy. They weren't the greatest cuts obviously but the cooks obviously know how to keep those cuts of meat juicy while they cook. The sauces YUCK! They shouldn't even have those on the menu..I bet they're from a packet. They're horrible. Either have your chefs come up with their own single sauce base for every steak at the restaurant and add mushrooms/onions/etc to order or just don't have sauces. This was our first visit on April 23, 2015. Upon entering the restaurant we were delightfully surprised with the elegant decor. We were there to celebrate our anniversary and were given a lovely banquette/booth which made us feel we had a special private area just for ourselves. Their menu is varied and tempting for many choices but we each chose the fillet mignon since it is a specialty steakhouse and it was a special occasion for us. The steaks were mouthwatering delicious, tender, and prepared perfectly. They were accompanied with a fresh and generous salad and excellent salad dressing. They added extra blue cheese crumbles to a lovely blue cheese dressing. The entrée also included choice of potato and we felt the garlic mashed potatoes were quite yummy! The vegetables were prepared perfectly and I lovely selection of cauliflower, carrots and broccoli. They were fresh and not from frozen mix! The meal concluded perfectly with a scrumptious bread pudding dessert. The only slight glitch in the evening seem to be with timing related to the bar and a specialty cocktail that we requested took an inordinately long time to prepare. Additionally the wine selection that we was not available. That being said the cocktail was next to perfection and the alternate one choice was outstanding! Our server was Susan and she gave us attentive, warm and friendly service. She was not overbearing and allowed us to enjoy an evening that was more than we had hoped for! Live entertainment was provided on this Thursday evening as is many evenings of the week. We will certainly return and highly recommend you give it a try! read more

Excellent food, especially the BBQ ribs (fall off the bone) & fried shrimp combo, filet & shrimp combo, homemade pot roast, & French onion soup. Wait staff always very friendly & accommodating. They have coupons in weekly coupon mailers for buy one meal & get another 1/2 off with purchase of 2 drinks. Dining room very nice with spacious semicircular booths & beautiful decorations during the holidays. I love that they're one of the few restaurants in the area that is still open for indoor dining. Got take out about an hour ago and we are pretty impressed. We ordered a reuben and monster burger. We ended up with a normal cheeseburger instead. Thankfully we were charged for a regular cheeseburger so there was just confusion over the phone during the order. My boyfriend was a bit disappointed in that he was looking forward to the cool burger but in the end he was hungry and the food was good. Everything was cooked well and the food was still hot even after the drive home. Would recommend this place but if ordering takeout make sure to have the order read back to you. read more

So sad that this place would even ATTEMPT to do ANYTHING as extensive as the menu alludes to. Lots of "early bird" (should have warned me) specials is very enticing however there was no evidence that they are able to do one thing well. I had overcooked shoe leather disguised as a pork cutlet accompanied by undercooked vegetables that tasted like they were sauteed in a pan previously used to fry old fish. The garlic mashed potatoes were LAUGHINGLY served in one of those small cafeteria bowls and looked as if it was actually scooped into the dish with the ice scream scoop dishers. My dining companion had beef stroganoff served with, "chef's choice of pasta" which turned out to be linguini. Four of the five pieces of beef were cooked, a fifth was raw. Her bloody Mary wasn't worth finishing. The server made several mistakes and was not very knowledgeable about the beverage or dinner menus. read more
