Great server. I was there 8pm on Friday March 14th, 2019 and sat by Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor. Whomever was our server was really nice and made a great suggestion for mozarella sticks. It's been a very long time since coming here. This was one of our go to spots to get late night food back in the days. It hasn't changed much besides the employees. Menu is pretty much the same which they have all types of variety. My all time favorite and go to was and still is the regular Corals Steak and Eggs. I come here once in awhile but it's usually when my sister is craving their fried zucchinis. Other items on the menu are okay but I normally don't order them since they aren't anything special. The service is usually on the slower side even when they aren't busy as well. There's plenty of parking around. They are open 24 hours so if you're craving breakfast food at night or anything outside of breakfast, you can always come here. read more

My go-to haunt whenever I'm in LA. On a ketogenic protocol? No worries. Ask for the fattiest ribeye the chef has and they will oblige. Bring in your own butter or ask for butter on the side and Mac out with your steak, eggs and salad for less than $25. Don't really need anywhere else to eat with this place around. I've been coming to corals for the last few years now and was really disappointed with our last experience. Our waitress seemed nice at first but it was apparent that she didn't want to be there. The nice busier took our drink order and got those our fast. She then came over and took our order. Food came out relatively quickly. But that's because they got my boyfriends order completely wrong and they never even brought a meal my friend asked for. She asked for two meals and only got one. We had pointed out on arrival that my boyfriends meal was completely wrong and she gave us a look and took it back. On return it was missing one of the sides that came with and before we could ask about the other dishes/sides she sped off. Literally to take care of any other table then ours. So we are eating now and the food is decent. I can see our waitress and some dude gossiping behind the counter and it looked as if they were looking our way. But staff does that to make sure they can check you out, that's usually what I figured. Apparently not because after we were done we all sat quietly waiting to go. 20 minutes I finally stare into the soul of another staff and once I get her attention I raise my hand to motion that we needed help since she was looking at me confused. I asked if we could have a desert menu and we had been waiting to order and the lady starts to rush off saying she'd get our waitress. She comes back and we ordered dessert to go since we were frustrated at how long they made us wait in a nearly empty restaurant. They charged $5 for a small scoop of ice cream for my friend and $5 for a small slice of pie with no sides. I'm not asking for 5 star service I just think it's silly that we all sat not talking for like 20 minutes all staring at the walls in a pretty quiet restaurant. Wife orders Sirloin special with split pea soup. I order Chili Spaghetti, no onions, with side salad. I get the salad, she gets the soup. She gets her steak, I get nothing. Our waiter doesnt come back to check in so I flag down another waiter who gets our waiter. I ask about my meal and get a blank stare followed by flipping through his order pad. Then asks if I want meat sauce or marinara. I remind him it comes with chili so that's not an option. My wife is finished and mine shows up with what I would estimate a double order of raw onions on top of the chili with melted cheese. I tell him to forget it because there's no way to remove the raw onions or melted cheddar cheese without having to redo the entire dish. And Im not waiting around for that. I will note that the menu doesnt say it comes with onions (or melted cheese so beware if you are lactose intolerant), so I shouldnt have had to ask for no onions (or cheese.) But I did because literally every other chili dish they have states they come with onions (and melted cheese). Remember this is on top of the fact he forgot the meal in the first place and my wife is already finished by the time mine showed up. No apology, no manager engagement. I end up in the Jack in the Box drive thru. Normally I dont leave bad reviews but when a situation isnt proactively address by management, I lose faith in the operation. Sorry, I hear the chili is good but I'll never find out. And is wasnt busy for a Saturday night. Message to management - either serve what the menu says or change the menu description. read more

An old favourite whenever I'm in L.A. Worth the short drive to the Valley(Burbank). Wonderful bakery items and all the food is great. Huge menu! Hard to decide what to get. Coral Cafe is open pretty late at night and has a very wide and diverse array of options... which is exactly what makes it a hit or miss. Their pasta is always overcooked and insipid and I'm pretty sure most of their stuff is frozen and zapped. However, I do really like their gyros, although they are objectively low quality and not even real gyros- more like flat ovals of tasty microwaved meat. Their tzatziki is great, though. The eggs Benedict are pretty good even though the hollandaise sauce is very creamy and a bit one note, but not bad. As I said, they have a lot of different dishes ranging from traditional breakfast to Mediterranean to Mexican. We did order take out a good amount of times from here after working the night shift when dining in wasn't allowed yet. It always managed to hit the spot. We stopped in for brunch because it has a diner look and feel. The menu is impressive and we're excited to try the food. However, the waiter didn't explain the dishes nor asked questions as to how we would like the food prepared. I ordered the one egg plate and received the egg scrambled when I prefer them over-easy. I didn't specify but he should of asked. He also forgot my toast. I ordered the crepe with cheese plate assuming he would know it was the strawberry & cheese crepes. Again, he didn't ask to confirm and I got plain crepes with cheese, no strawberries. The Chilaquiles are chips with sauce, not the authentic version. The food is okay but missing that special something. The servers could use a little more training on customer service to give it that family feeling since it is a family restaurant. This is the first time I went to Coral Cafe and didn't order breakfast. My daughter wanted breakfast food for dinner and this place never lets you down for all your standard breakfast items. She ordered the French toast combo with strawberries. Her meal was tasty. I've been trying to eat paleo style for a while and figured the steak salad should be a good change from most of my quick basic meals. The salad arrived looking wonderful! My expectations were high (okay.... I shouldn't have allowed a visual presentation to lull me into a false sense of thinking - wow this is going to be delicious). It was okay.... Just okay. Maybe slathered with dressing or steak sauce or ??? would be an improvement. I posted a photo of the artful presentation. Today Coral gets 4 stars for my daughters meal, 3 for presentation and 2 for taste... I think that works out to about a 3 star rating. We have come here many many times. The food here is what you likely expect. Pretty average, so I would have given it 3 stars. But, the fact that most of the staff have a bad attitude and seem to be in a bad mood - every single time - has taken the last of the stars. You go to check out and they don't even acknowledge you. Just take your card. No eye contact - almost like your bothering them. You go to order and you get hints of an attitude of just depression. You walk in happy but the people here weigh you down. True story: I worked here for a few months in the late 1970s... and I don't think much has changed in the intervening decades. My mother convinced me to give this place another try on a recent trip back home and it was as bad as I remember it being back in the day. I had a chef's salad with wilted lettuce, bad tomato, and other uninspiring ingredients. I think this place survives on the late-night crowd and the nearby film studios. Yelp happened to be down and my fiance found this place via Google. We are on a low carb lifestyle, and decided this would be a good place for some eggs and meat.... We were seated immediately. Ordered drinks, and looked over the menu. It all looked really good, a lot of options. I ordered the spinach and mushroom omelette, no toast, side of fruit. It was alright, I could tell the omelette had been fried, cooked in a lot of oil. I found a piece of ham and potato in it, which is fine but unexpected. My boyfriend ordered Kobe patty, eggs, and tomatoes. His patty was super rare, I mean raw in the middle. They took his dish back and made him a better cooked one. The second time it was really good, tasted good. Overall this place is just okay. Their service is good. Their restrooms were not very clean. Oh, Coral Cafe, how I love thee. As a Jersey girl transplant to Burbank, let me say right up front that ANY restaurant open 24/7 in L.A. is going to win major brownie points in my book just by virtue of ALWAYS being open. Its decor, or lack thereof, attests to the fact it's been around a long time and could stand an update. If it's atmosphere you're after, don't come here. But if it's good food at VERY reasonable prices, you'll want to give Coral Cafe a shot. I've been here twice now and I have had a very good experience both times. First time was for dinner with the hubby and my two younger boys (12 and 9). We were seated IMMEDIATELY, even though the place was quite busy. Our waiter was extremely polite and ushered us into a booth. I ordered a tuna melt on sourdough (always my go-to food at a diner) and my husband the pot roast sandwich. The boys, shockingly, ordered what they always order--chicken tenders, grilled cheese, and french fries. Our service was LIGHTNING fast. I'm talking no more than ten minutes. My melt was good, but I must tell you that it was accompanied by THE BEST, hands down, BEST ONION RINGS on the planet. You know how when you bite into an onion ring, what usually happens is the crunchy breading slides off and you're left with a kinda slimy piece of naked onion hanging there?? THAT did not happen here. Crispy coating and tender onion stayed together and came off in one bite, and melded together to create a happy little dance party in my mouth. I am in love. My hubby's pot roast literally melted in one's mouth (and "one" had to sneak a few extra bites from the hubby's plate when he wasn't looking). The kids were happy with their food. My twelve-year-old, a connoisseur of fries from WAY back, prounounced that Coral Cafe's fries would make his top ten list. Throughout, our waiter was super-pleasant, and just attentive enough. The second time we came was just a few days ago with another family for lunch. Again, we received good and rapid service, large portions of damned decent food, and very inexpensive prices. Many a take-home box left with us. I have yet to try the desserts which beckon temptingly from the cases as you enter, but they will be on my must-do list for next time. We normally dine here once a week with our friends and have noticed that the waitresses are getting worse and worse. The busboys are still the same friendly helpful staff who automatically bring us our regular drinks when they see us seated. However the waitresses have bad attitudes and don't feel customer service is necessary. We will not frequent this place as often anymore because it's upsetting to try to support our local restaurants only to be left with a bad feeling. read more

First time ever eating here. Was surprised because of how close it is to my apartment. medium sized dinner with a very clean and friendly staff. The first thing I noticed was how big there menu was! They have everything. I went for breakfast and got the Bacon and egg sandwich. It was excellent. They give you a large size of hash browns as a side. I couldn't even finish it. Came here yesterday after my daughter's 6 month appt. Been to several places around the area, but this place has that comfortable feel to it. Most of them don't have the space to maneuver a stroller and this place did, which was good. Obviously, this is an old diner so I pretty much know what to expect. Funny thing was, while we were looking over the menu, I noticed a business associate sitting at the bar and got his attention. He told us that he comes here every morning for breakfast, which was reassuring, he also mentioned that the place is also open 24hrs and haunted! Good to know. Not sure why he mentioned the haunted part but, hey, I guess it adds a bit more character the place. Quickly after that, we decided what to order. Pregnant wife was super hungry at this point! She ordered some waffle dish with a side of bacon, sausages and eggs. I ordered my usual of every new diner I go to, which was the chicken-fried steak and eggs with the usual hash potatoes. To drink, we both had water and I had my coffee. Neither tasted bad, which was good, because I hate it when the water taste like it came straight from the faucet/tap. Wife said, her waffles were good and her sides were cooked just the way she wanted. The bacon was extra crispy, which we love so much. My chicken-fried steak and scrambled eggs were good as well. Much better than those mainstream diners like Denny's and such. Today, after my wife's appt. We said, hey let's go back to Coral Cafe and try something different. Since it's close to St. Joseph's and on the way home. This time my wife ordered the corned-beef hash, eggs and toast with a fruit bowl. I ordered the New York steak (medium cooked) and eggs (scrambled) with hash. Food came out in good time like yesterday. Wife's order was satisfying, fruits seemed fresh and tasty. My steak was cooked as ordered. They don't mention the size of the steak but I got a nice sized portion, not sure how many ounces though. Not seasoned like how I prefer my steaks but, it's safe to do it that way. I suppose the bottle of A-1 is there to remedy that. Overall a good meal once again. Now, about the service and environment. Host, waiters and waitresses were all nice. Waitresses were very attentive and helpful. I also like how there was a gentleman who refilled my coffee cup whenever I needed it. The place is certainly clean and well kept. The parking isn't abundant but, so far, we haven't had a problem with finding ample parking. This random pick turned out to be a good one. The coral cafe has been in burbank since 1957, its almost been here for 50 years. There's alot of pros, and cons to say about the coral cafe. I love it here, it's open 24/7, they have a huge menu with pretty much everything you can imagine(sandwich, steak, mexican food, dessert) The food used to be really good. But a couple of years ago, the food started getting worse, and worse. Alot of stuff is frozen, and very very bland. There are some things that are still good, the sandwiches are still very good,(i still order the Ruben very often) the breakfast (chocolate chip pancakes are to die for), and the dessert is amazing. I was pretty negative on thus review, but I've been coming here since I've been five. And with the few amazing things on there menu, i dont intend to stop coming any time soon. read more

Ive heard a lot of good things about the Coral Cafe....and i am seriously unimpressed. Started with coffee and water, whoever brought it spilled the coffee on the table and wiped up what was spilled but not what was all over the bottom of my mug. That's fine, it was a simple mistake - it happens. But that paired with the terrible service from the waitress, Marisa, made for a rather unpleasant experience. We started with the mozeralla sticks, which were excellent and very well priced! I hate restaurants that offer four pieces for an outrageous price, so this was a nice surprise. The menu is HUGE so we took a little while ordering after our appetizer, to which Marisa seemed annoyed and made us feel rushed. After asking maybe twice if we were ready, we decided but at that point it was very hard to flag her down. It felt like she was avoiding eye contact and had no intention of coming back for a while. When she did come to our table, she was very short with us - completely lacking friendliness, like she was just trying to get over it as soon as possible. I ordered the ravioli with alfredo, my boyfriend ordered some kind of heart attack on a bun country burger, with a beef patty, chicken fried steak, fried egg, and gravy. His burger was excellent. Dont get me wrong when i say heart attack on a bun. It was amazing, so was the fried zucchini on the side. But my appetizer salad that came with my ravioli was seriously subpar. The honey mustard dressing was basically ranch dressing. It was just chopped lettuce with some carrot shreds. And the ravioli looked awful. The sauce was completely separated so that it was just ravioli sitting in bland cream with a heavy layer of melted butter on top. The actual raviolis tasted good, but the saucewas bland and altogether disappointing. Not to mention that the menu said it came with garlic bread and i didnt get any garlic bread until i flagged her down and asked for it - "it's on the way" she tells She also brought the bill within minutes of the food - i had planned on maybe getting dessert, but wasnt asked if i wanted anything else before the bill came. The redeeming factor was who i assume was the manager, extremely friendly and understanding. We told him our service complaints - not looking for any kind of compensation, just letting him know - and he said he would make sure we were never seated in her section again. I love the Coral Cafe. I've been coming to this place for years now and it has never let me down. If its midnight and im looking for pie and a drink or breakfast time or any other time of day I can always get something good here. My favorite thing on the menu is the Country Fried Chicken. With an order of planks I think its unbeatable. The Tortilla soup is also fantastic. Lots of cheese and lots of tortilla strips. For dinner i recommend the Lemon pepper chicken breast. I always thought that was real good. I use to come here once a week and i never got sick of it. Overall this place has a huge menu so whatever you are feeling like chances are they have it.
