I go to Core quite often and once again today I went in after the gym. I got the Cobb Salad but they were out of avocado, so they let you choose two extra veggies to make up for it. The salads are very filling and delicious, even though they are slightly pricey. I don't mind the price though because it's very fresh and I'm always full after. I also added the seasonal strawberries which were very fresh. I also always get the Cucumber Basil Lemonade which is a favorite. Great job CoreLife! read more

You can create your own salad bowls, grain based bowls or have some other yummy bone broth soups or vegetable base soups.This place is great for the Paleo diet, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, as well as those who like to have a little chicken or beef protein and /or just tofu. You can order off the menu or even make your own. I chose the steak and blue cheese with cranberries greens salad bowl tonight. Delicious. As for the drinks, of course you can get your Standard cup of water. No sugary sodas here. Every time we go there we seem to have an issue. Guessing they have new hires that aren't fully trained or supervised properly. Servers don't now the correct amount to serve. Backed up line while employees chatting out back. Manager does nothing after being commented to. They were temporarily out of chicken because they sold what they had cooked to a customer. Which made all take out orders 45 late. I like the place but extremely disappointed. I truly hope they turn things around. read more

Absolutely phenomenal! I am so addicted! It sounds cheesy, but I swear you can feel the nutrients going into your body when you eat the salads here. It's not your normal boring iceberg lettuce salads, they have arugula, chopped up kale, baby spinach, hearts of romaine, wild rice, quinoa, and a bunch of other great "base" items for your meal. Lots of vegetarian options, there are salads with hummus, falafel, chickpeas, tofu, or nuts. They also have plenty of meat options as well...chicken, steak, and bacon, as well as lots of different cheese options. If you are looking for a good, fresh, clean eating experience, this is the place for you! It seems to have a constant flow of customer traffic, but the line continues to move because they have workers set up for each stage of assembling the meal, so you are not waiting in a stagnant line that does not move. read more

In my experience today, not one person smiled nor said thank you--it felt like I was in the episode of Seinfeld with the Soup Nazi. NO SALAD FOR YOU! The people in front me also took note and muttered to themselves, wow these people really don't like their jobs...no one smiles! I was standing with my wife, clearly next in line, and instead of warmly asking--what may I help you with--the girl yelled, "I can help who's next!" I am adding an extra star because their lemonades are very yummy. I tried the fruit punch lemonade with coconut water and the green tea lemonade. All were appropriately sweetened and fresh-tasting. I am not sure if you're allowed to get refills but the lemonades, cold-brews coffee and tea were self-serve. The interior of the restaurant is huge. They have both indoor and outdoor dining but I wasn't able to sit outside and enjoy my meal outside because there were a ton of flies during the time I came. There were also lots of frogs and flowers outside. I tried two of their signature bowls in the size large/full. They have 3 sizes: small, large and large (but with 2x protein). I got the regular amount of protein for the ginger beef bowl as well as for the Thai chicken bowl. It was very little protein so I would advise doing the double protein to get a "normal" amount of protein. I liked how light/fresh the bowl tasted and how the vegetables were all fresh. My BF and I both preferred the Thai chicken bowl over the beef one but thought both were overall pretty nice. The Thai chicken bowl came with rice noodles (not as much as a normal noodle bowl, the noodles were definitely not the base), antibiotic-free chicken, napa cabbage (the majority of the bulk of the bull), sliced almonds, broccoli, cucumbers, cilantro and 200 calories extra for the sesame sauce. Total under 600 calories. The beef bowl had rice noodles, grass fed steak, shredded kale, carrots, cucumbers, scallions, and ginger and was also under 600 calories. I love that you can build your own bowl and customize everything. It tasted very healthy and left me feeling light. The sauces are very light. They didn't put a ton of sauce in the bowls which was nice because at the end your dish isn't overly soggy. My Thai chicken bowl reminded me of a Vietnamese bun thit nuong bowl (with the cold noodles). read more

Love, love, LOVE this place! I work for a business that has three offices, with one that is right down the road from this location. I don't get the frequent that office very often, but any time I am there, I hit up this place for lunch. As someone with Celiac, and a ton of GI issues, this is the ONLY place I can get consistently good food, that I don't have to worry about getting "glutened" by, and it always tastes like Heaven in my mouth. I've gotten quite a few coworkers addicted to this place too, so when I'm there, we usually all order together. I love that you can preorder your order, and it will be ready, most of the time, by the time you get there. If you have to wait at all, they're so apologetic and friendly. I have never had an order get messed up, or miss an item, and my bowls are always filled to the brim with delicious food. I will forever love this restaurant, and this location, as I have tried others, but none seem to compare. I'm so happy we have a healthy, moderately priced, "fast food" type of restaurant in our area. They offer salads, soups, and grains for the heart of the meal choices. I tried this place for the first time when they offered a deal on their new "Spicy Thai Chicken" salad bowl. The line was really long but went fairly quickly. I absolutely loved my salad- full of textures and flavors. There are three size bowls. I got the medium size (& I can eat a lot) so I don't know who would need the largest size. In fact, I am going to try the small size next time. It may be more appropriate. I will absolutely be returning to this restaurant. Note - no sodas. All kinds of flavored iced teas and lemonades or bottled drinks. I have never been a great fan of this place. Went with family for my third time and still not impressed. I ordered the southwest chicken wrap. Ingredients looked good until you tried to eat it. No flavor at all. Everything was a huge wet mess in a wrap that was not even cut. No knives in the place so I cut with forks. Honestly it was so disgusting I threw it out. I had a terrible salad at a different restaurant today - which made me realize how much I appreciate Core! (I wish there were a Core in the Auburn area!) I rarely rate anything 5 stars. A place has to be really great for that. I'd give Core 4 stars for the food, which is always fresh and mostly tasty, but I have to take a star off for overall experience. I think it's a bit expensive for the Syracuse market - these are prices I'd expect to pay in NYC at any place with a similar concept. I find it really confusing to go through the line, because I have hearing loss and the background noise and sound bouncing off all the hard surfaces makes it hard to hear the employees behind the glass and I have to ask them to repeat themselves constantly. My order keeps getting passed down the line and I'm never sure who exactly to ask for soups, broths, or anything not the main dish. I can't help feeling like somebody is going to Soup Nazi me while I'm making my way to the register. The food is good, and I can afford to eat it if I want to and am in the area, but I wish they'd do something about the acoustics, hence the 3 stars instead of 4. read more

This is my third time coming to CoreLife Eatery, and every single time I have been greeted with great customer service, a nice atmosphere, and delicious food. I always come about a half hour before closing time, so it doesn't have the bustling atmosphere that I am sure Core has at prime time, but I like it regardless, even though it is a bit lonely, and the employees are already packing up. Other than that, I love the food, and my favorite dish is featured up there, TWICE. My only problem is the cleanliness of the silverware, as you can see in one of my photos. There's nothing really special about this place. There's the allure of healthy eating, but if you take time to look at the nutrition facts, you'll see a cup of their chicken bone broth only has 2g of protein. A true bone broth should have at least 8-10g of protein per cup. If they haven't achieved this... they most likely haven't extracted the collagen from the bones either from a long slow simmer. This bone broth probably doesn't have collagen in it all. The sodium content is extremely high. That's worrisome as well! On top of that, if you build your own salad, they jack the price up as you go along. You're supposed to get so many topping, which I didn't even reach yet, but they were already adding extra on top of the price because certain things were "premium". read more

Core is fantastic, especially if you're looking for organic, clean meals in upstate NY. You can't find this anywhere else. The salads are delicious, the bone broth is heavenly (especially when you have a cold), the homemade lemonades are A++. The prices are a bit higher, but nothing more than you'd pay at a place like Panera (and this food is much better). My only gripe with Core, is the listed calorie count on the menu in-store. What is listed for the salads does not include dressing; and this has fooled friends and coworkers and myself. When the steak, bacon and bleu cheese green bowl is listed at 450, people go nuts. When you add in the dressing and the count heads up to nearly 700, that seems way higher than what is originally listed. It's not false advertising, as in small print on the menu it says the salads are listed without dressing, but it did give many of us a false sense of hope... read more

Core seems like a good concept. Healthy salads, a variety of bowls, customizable meals, ect. But when they NEVER get your order right, it kind of ruins the concept. I have never written a bad review before, but this is the 4th time In a row that I pick up my order, drive home, and my meal is totally wrong or missing ingredients. I just got home and there was no chicken in my salad. It's a key ingredient... I'm not sure how this happens more often than not. It's extremely upsetting and when I am told to "drive back to get another salad" it's not realistic to drive over a half hour round trip. Might as well just eat the order they messed up! read more

Wow... There's mainly 3 factors when we think of food: deliciousness, price, and nutrition. It's rare to find all 3 in any establishment. What typically is healthy, frankly doesn't often taste that good nor is cheap is price. What we find delicious, is typically either not cheap or not healthy. The usual result is not enough food or not enough flavor packed into a meal. I had the Spicy chicken with ancient grains and honestly it was probably one of the best salads I have had. My only nitty gritty comment is I didn't care much for the (all organic) chicken as it was dry, but honestly I didn't even care. The chicken was by no means the star of the dish, but rather the veggies and the sauce. The sauce was very light and the overall combination of fruits and vegetables worked really well together. It didn't seem like much food at first, but I couldn't stop eating it and at the end I felt satiated for one of the first times by a salad. If the other dishes are anything like this, I can't wait to try out more! It get's even better, the most expensive dish on their menu is $7.95 with most averaging between $5-8. I honestly did not expect such a dish with high quality ingredients to be available at such a value. They also offer an amazing array of unique lemonades and teas that are quite refreshing. From the taste, everything is definitely homemade and some are quite delicious. Some of the flavors include cucumber basil lemonade, blueberry mint lemonade, mango something tea, a few other flavored lemonades, and the rest of the names I cannot remember. Delicious choices for vegan and carnivore diners. Ingredients are fresh and many. Dining area is large with plenty of light. It's conveniently connected to the Greenhouse for casual shopping before or after your meal. Downsides are minimal but important to note. Service: I've come in twice around 4:30pm -5:00pm on a weekday. Each time I waited then walked out because of a lack of staff on the front line. 1 preparer was taking orders for a several guests but there was no urgency to move the line quickly and a short line became an intolerably long wait. The other person was at the register. For an large eatery, the lack of staff was surprising. Menu: The three styles of "bases" are clear but the rest of the menu as to what you order with each is unclear and confusing. It would be easier to have each ingredient that can be added to each base listed.....even if it is repetitive. Will I return? Yes.
