The food and service were outstanding. My reason for the rating is that their online menu showed a price of 12.95 for the salad bar and soup, which was all i wanted. I was charged 23.95 for salad bar and soup. I could have ordered any entree and it would have been included. The menu at the restaurant did not list anything except entrees. The waitress should have said something. I guess next time I will get the cheapest entree, i.e chicken @ 28.95, eat the salad bar there and get the entree to go. I cannot eat that much food. First time at Cork N Cleaver. We sat in the club room and enjoyed the ambiance. Wood burning fire was a plus. Our waitress was great! Unfortunately can't remember her name but she was super knowledgeable of the menu which was helpful considering the menu itself is not very descriptive. Drinks: We started off with a caramel apple mule and cosmo, both great. The caramel apple mule did however have a high amount of ice and seemed to have low alcohol content. Appetizer: We ordered the applewood smoked bacon appetizer (pictured). MAKE SURE YOU GET THIS. I was so excited I almost forgot to take a photo. It was recommended to us by our waitress and boy were we glad we ordered it! It's actually a jalapeño cornbread topped with the bacon and maple syrup with dollops of sriracha sauce on the plate. The perfect amount of sweet and spicy. Salad: I forgot to take a salad photo. We each ordered the wedge salad. You can't go wrong with wedge salads. We tend to order this at most restaurants in town (at least my husband does). We've honestly found the BEST wedge salad in town to be at Black Canyon on dupont. Highly recommend it. Entree: I ordered the 7oz Filet topped with blue cheese butter, broccoli side with hollandaise sauce and lobster Mac and cheese. A lot of times you'll order a lobster Mac and cheese and it lacks in meat, this was not the case here. Cheese was a little runny but still good. My husband ordered the coffee crusted ribeye with a loaded baked potato and mushrooms. Mushrooms were yummy, I tried them. Both steaks were good but to be honest I've had just as good if not better elsewhere. Dessert: We had to get the famous Mud Pie. It's hard to tell in all the photos but it's allll coffee ice cream. Which was good but we were freezing by the time we were done considering it was 16 degrees outside. Overall, good experience, great ambiance, food was good and I'm glad we tried it but probably won't be back anytime soon. read more

I was in town from Oklahoma and was taking the opportunity to have a quick Christmas with my daughter and her husband. They suggested the Cork N Cleaver. Initially I was impressed. It started out well, we had reservations for 7 pm for a party of four and were seated immediately. Our waitress met us and said she was sharing our table area with another waitress and they would both be serving our table. She took out drink and appetizer order and said she would be right back to get our entrees. Our drinks and appetizers came in a timely fashion, but not the waitress. Ever again. We tried to get her attention multiple times, but she and the other waitress never looked or came in our direction. Finally I got up and got the attention of the second waitress at 7:45 and she took our order. She apologizes and said that they were busy taking care of other peoples orders. I was not happy and we went to the salad bar to wait in the huge line. I was approached by the manager who was quite polite, and he inquired as to how they could make this right. I must admit I was a bit cranky when explaining the issue and told him I did not think that it would be possible. We were basically told by his staff that other people in the restaurant were more important than us. While waiting for our entrees; he came to the table with two appetizer plates. He said that he wanted to apologize for our situation and to please accept these appetizers with his compliments. And our drinks and appetizers would not be billed to our meal. We thanked him and the apple bacon on cornbread was outstanding. Our meals arrived, we had three filets and I had the prime rib. My prime rib was cold, two of the filets were cooked correctly, but the third when brought looked decidedly different than the other two. It looked like a New York strip. We asked the servers about it. Neither one were our two original waitresses. I told them the one filet does not look like a filet or is cutting like one. They told us of course it's a filet it's just a different cut. We "discussed" it for a bit, but by this point my stepdaughter just said it's fine. They left. It was not a filet. A different cut of meat than a filet is not a filet. We ordered desert to go at 9:30 pm. Even with the drinks and appetizers comped it was a most expensive meal. As we were leaving we overheard one of our waitresses apologizing to the two person party at the adjacent table for the mix up with their entrees and tell them that their entrees had been taken off their bill. It apparently was a tough night. The company and time with my family was enjoyable, the venue was not. The manager was a jewel and had a good heart for service, his staff not so much. read more

Service was ok. Food was a big disappointment. Was there September 7, 2024 we had a party of 9. Two people had prime rib, two people had chicken and the rest had steak. Out of the 9 of us, 7 had over cooked meat. Prime rib had no pink center and the filet mignon was tough. Also ordered mushrooms as an appetizer. They were maybe the size of a dime if that. I had tried contacting the restaurant by their website email but got no response. The bill was just under $500.00 and this did not include any alcohol and most had only water to drink. When paying around $50 or more per person for a plate of food it better be top notch. Unfortunately this missed the mark and we will not be back. I cannot count how many times I have gone to the Cork and it has always been good food and good service. My last 6 - 7 visits have left me with sending appetizers back and the NY strip center cut back for various reasons. The last few NY Strips have been like eating a sirloin. Tough and not very good flavor. The steaks were cooked well, but there is only so much a cook can do with bad material. Both steaks on 03/12/2025 were tough and not the typical good flavor we were used to. When we addressed this with the waitress she said well the NY Center cut is a tougher steak. I laughed...Without comparing it to a filet mignon her statement is blatantly incorrect. A NY Strip should not be tough to eat like a sirloin, but it will not be as tender as a filet mignon...I get it. I have never had to argue poor food with a waitress at the Cork N Cleaver before. So, I just asked for the manager. I told him both of our steaks were tough like a sirloin, but cooked properly. I added this is the 4th or 5th time that we have encountered this in the last year. My guest got a new filet mignon which was as good as a filet could be. I took 80% of my steak home as well. Decent enough for a morning steak and eggs. Quality has gone down hill as well as the service. This could very well be my last time going there....I can always just order the mud pie for a pick up. read more

This restaurant has been in business a long time and it still provides delicious food and outstanding service. The atmosphere last night was quiet and the ambiance was romantic for a night out with someone special. Erica was a delightful server and she made sure that we were given the best experience in dining. The wine list was full of many options by the glass and by the bottle. The shareable starters were timed right and the meals served just after the soup and salad. I loved the filet and lobster as it was seasoned perfectly and cooked as ordered. I'm sure the sweets would have been amazing but I was so full from the generous portions of the entree. It was our anniversary and I chose to come here. Last time we were there was years ago. Upon finding it, it looks kind of old cuz it is old. Lol. This place is a staple place that has been here for years. Upon entering, it is a dark with low lighting and gives a romantic feeling of the atmosphere. We were greeted right away and seated. We sat in the middle dining room. It was very private. Immediately, we were asked for our drinks. My husband ordered diet and I ordered Pink Pony martini. It was very good. We started out with stuffed mushrooms and they were delicious. I then ordered the ribeye and baked potato and it was absolutely delicious. I did get the salad bar and it is phenomenal. Seriously, it looked and tasted fresh. Great variety of picks to choose from. My husband ordered the lobster and baked potato. It was good but after being told they were so big can hardly fit on plate.....well, that definitely was not the case. So my husband was extremely disappointed. However, they have us a huge slice of cake for our anniversary. It really was a nice touch and was very good. We loved the privacy of the atmosphere, low lights, excellent service and good. Felt the lobster was not hardy much. The hype of how big it was put a real disappointment. This place can have children for I did see some but I really don't recommend it. I like the jelly beans from the salad bar, the food and the desserts but the meal options are a little bit limited... why just meat dishes? why no pasta? I also had some cranberry juice here and I didn't like it that much, it reminds me of the sour juices I had in Iran... yuck. If this restaurant had pasta I would give it a 5. The atmosphere is overall clean. And it's chicken parmesan dish is REAAAAAAAALLLLY good. Went to Cork'n Cleaver to celebrate a work promotion. I had heard it was kind of old fashioned but tbh that is sometimes what I'm in the mood for. Trendy restaurants are often overrated and sacrifice taste for decor. I'm a pretty laid back person and don't really care what a dining room LOOKS like. I prioritize the quality of food over anything else. The menu here is small, they stick to classic steakhouse dishes and a few house specials. We both had the salad bar, well known in these parts. It was well stocked and I was able to make a very tasty salad for myself. My husband chose to get the jelly beans but I abstained. I ordered the prime rib with steamed broccoli and hollandaise. It was absolutely amazing, as well as large enough for 3 people. My husband had the black and blue salmon and rice. I've never had that preparation before and am not the biggest bleu cheese fan, but it was so delicious! We did not get dessert because we were SO FULL. When we moved to the Midwest we knew we were going to find a good steak, but I didn't anticipate it being this good. Perfection. I got the 6 ounce and my hubby got the 8 ounce. Both were prepared just to our liking regarding temp. I loved that this was a no frills steak. Incredible flavor, juicy and a little crisp on the outside, but super tender on the interior. I went baked potato and ate every last bite. The skin had sea salt and it was cooked just right. Hubby got the broccoli. Typically when he gets broc somewhere it is never steamed right- either too much or too little. This was like the baby bear's baby that Goldilocks found...just right. I completely got ahead of myself and skipped right over our starters. Luckily, I read reviews and made a reservation ahead of time. Called around 3 on a Wednesday for a 7 PM reservation and they put us down. I'm glad we did. Place was hoppin'. The host was preparing our table so we grabbed a seat at the bar and before we could close our tab the table was ready. Awesome. Our server was probably one of the best we've had in a while, but all the staff work together and the meal as a whole was seamless. Our sever suggested a few app options- brussel sprouts and shrimp and we opted for the shrimp. They had a few different flavors and she told us we could mix it up and try them all. They were solid. As I mentioned, we both got filets and in addition to the sides, you get a trip to the salad bar. This salad bar is what lettuce lover dreams are made of. Cold metal plates greet you and are just waiting to be filled with cold slightly wet lettuce, or spinach or spring mix or romaine. Whatever rabbit type you are, they have you covered. They had all the essentials and sum fun extras like broccoli salad. The croutons were yum. The dressings seemed homemade, whether they were or not, they were great. Everything about the bar was fresh and clean. It's definitely not an everyday spot if you're not looking to spend around $60 plus for two (with just the basics), but it is worth every penny for a date night, special occasion or steakhouse aficionado. Truly a Fort Wayne classic. We had the prime rib and the coffee crusted ribeye, both of which were more than satisfactory. The caps and cheese are an absolute must and the salad bar is obviously exceptional given the range and price of the options. Drinks are well priced and strong. Service is always solid. I feel at this point the joke has run dry on the cleaver menus. It feels a touch out of place at an establishment where the average entree is $40+. Although the steak was super yummy, I came up with a few faves myself. 1. The bread appetizer with maple butter. OMG. You will break whatever diet you are on for this bread. I loved the texture, as well as the flavor, from the "crust", which incorporates ground coffee, black pepper and sea salt. The rice I ordered as a side was underwhelming, but no big deal. Cork- you are my favorite place in Fort Wayne. We took some friends who do not visit regularly there for dinner last weekend. 32oz Tomahawk was on special. The table of 4 ordered 2. It was the biggest miss on steak I have ever had at a restaurant. No flavor, no seasoning and served RARE/COLD on a med-rare request. I don't even send food back or make a deal about it as we were with guests. We will always come back, but please stay in your wheelhouse (or I guess we should stay in ours when ordering) - this special steak missed on every aspect. We also requested high number table (side hallway) when reserving and got sat next to the salad bar during a prom rush. I have asked for this 2 times now and have yet to be accommodated.
