So this is a cute little spot in the quarry that is never to crowded. It's great if your hungry and don't want to go to far from where your shopping or working. The staff is always nice and the atmosphere is great. But what brings down the whole experience is the food. The food is often bland either overcooked or undercooked. The pancakes are always rubbery and the bacon super greasy. Lunch is equally a hit or miss. The price is pretty high for some sub par food. I only eat here because I don't drive and this place is close to work. When we get uber back however I will be going elsewhere. The food is not worth the price. But if you have no other choice.. Cause really other than whole foods their is no other breakfast joint nearby... Then yes come here but don't expect much from the food. It is nothing like a real corner bakery in a larger city or even like those down town San Antonio. It is a chain so expect some quality issues. read more

I am attending a catered event housed at the 110 Callaghan building. We are here from 8-5 for the next 3 days. I just got handed a "vegan" breakfast - clearly labeled. It had cheese and eggs. Please look up the definition and plan accordingly. If you cannot provide this option, say so. If you can, identify all the ingredients within the package. That way the consumer will know that there are no animal products contained within. We are usually pretty careful because lots of people don't know what it entails to provide a vegan meal. That's fine. But do not label something animal free when it is not. read more

This place has a decent selection of soups, sandwiches and salads in addition to their bakery items. All of the items are good but nothing is great. For example, their clam chowder is supposed to be "traditional" but it's brownish in color and has a bit of a non-traditional taste. I mean, it's not bad but it isn't great. It makes me a little sad to have to rate Corner Bakery with only 3 stars. When I lived in Dallas, I ate at Corner Bakery weekly. Their pretzel bread was top notch, and their Chicken Pesto Sandwich left you craving it again as soon as your finished the last bite. That being said, I had high hopes for this new location when it opened in San Antonio. Unfortunately, each time I have visited I have been underwhelmed with the taste and quality of the food prepared. The pretzel bread is often stale, and more recently they changed it to a wheat pretzel bread. (Blah). The chicken pesto I so vividly remembered leaves much to be desired. I'm not sure if they use different recipes but I just have not ordered anything to write home about. On the upside, their blackberry currant iced tea is refreshing and fresh brewed. Not sure why all the average to not so average ratings for this place. This is my third time coming since its opening and I have yet to have an average experience. Everything i've tried has been delicious, the staff always go out of their way, and it has always been clean. I think this says a lot about how the place is managed. Tucked back at the end of the Quarry Market, this place is hidden, but their trying. This location has a perk however, and it is the patio off the end. It does not have as great a selection of bakery items as other places, but the soup and sandwiches are awesome. Coffee is okay - but then again, I am hard to please. Kitchen is open in plain view and there is a drink bar with soda, coffee and tea. The price is reasonable. Other good places at and around the Quarry, but if your anywhere close, I would give it a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

My husband & I came here and we absolutely loved it! It was a little pricey but it was worth it. My husband enjoyed the BBLT and also he had a bread bowl of chili. He said it was amazing! He loved it! I enjoyed the Club Penni & Also a bread bowl of broccoli and cheese. I also loved the hibiscus lemonade which was very tasty. In the glass case up front something caught my eye in the case it was a cream cheese brownie, it looked amazing, Im going to have to get that next time im in there. The deserts looked amazing! Absolutely love this place. I didn't want to review it until I'd been here enough times to try various items but I feel comfortable enough to do so now. I've loved everything so far but my favorite is the Choose Any 2 meal for $8.99. I get the half sandwich (Uptown Turkey Avocado) with a bowl of chicken noodle soup and it comes with a bag of kettle chips and a pickle. More than enough food for a very reasonable price. Man am I disappointed. I have been coming to this location for 4 years and recently they have really gone down hill but today really did it in. I called in my order around 11am and went to pick it up. Not a big deal, but they tried to charge me for turkey instead of chicken in my Caesar salad. No biggie. They fixed and I was good. I get back to work and there are no croutons, barely any cheese, the chicken is pushed all the way into a corner and the lettuce is yellow and has a bad taste. Needles to say I am now going without lunch. This isn't the first time things like this have happened either. I have been ordering extra croutons and cheese so I don't get jibbed. So today I finally had enough. I call the manager and explain what happened. I said there is no excuse for this. It wasn't even noon so it wasn't even busy. I get no apology, no remorse, he keeps wants to have my name and I say, " I don't want to give you my name for fear that someone might do something to my food the next I come in. If I come back." He doesn't know what I mean. All he could say was he was going to check to the lettuce. Well what about the quality control? I'm very disappointed right now. And going without lunch today. read more

Cold breakfest potatoes! It is not hard to keep stuff warm in chaffing trays. They should not put 2 different orders on the same tray wait staff got them mixed up and was swapping orders fron table to table. Nobody wants other people poking at their food in a restrauant. While I was there 2 other tables took their food back to the counter to get it right. Management is not paying attention to the kitchen. read more

I just had lunch there with a bunch of work buddies and the food was very good. The club panini was terrific and the brownie is to die for. This is the Sunday breakfast/brunch place for my wife and I; what I feel is ironic, is that Corner cafe is in the same location as 'Snooze Cafe' which is always packed, but we fee is somewhat overpriced and too trendy. The service at Corner Cafe is exemplary, the staff are always polite and accommodating. The food is amazing, fresh ingredients that always comes out quickly whether they are packed or not. I love the atmosphere if this place especially the art on the walls. The staff is usually on to of things even when they are busy. The prices also aren't bad. I usually go in for a cup of tea and a pastry which costs me usually less than five dollars. It's a good place to stop in if you get tired shopping in the Quarry. read more

We usually visit the corner bakery off of stone oak , but happen to be in about the area for this visit off of Basse . This place is dirty, the floor is filthy, this location smells like sewer. The tables were uncleaned, sticky, and dirty. The booth we sat in had loose benches and a wobbly table. The pastries and the coffee that we had are nother one page story. Corner Bakery Cafe is a good lunch spot. If the line to order isn't long, you will be seated and enjoying your meal in no time. The servers and cashiers are friendly enough, and are patient when questions are asked. Why, you may ask, am I giving this place 3 stars? Well, it's because of the food. The food is just 'okay' at best. There is nothing spectacular here, nothing stands out. Kudos to them for putting nutritional information on the menu, however, there is nothing SUPER healthy (low in fat grams/caloric content) on the menu... I typically order the combo with soup and the roast beef/goat cheese sandwich. I asked for the bread toasted, which they did, however, when my coworker asked for no butter on her panini, they looked at her as if she was nuts and said they couldn't do that. My new favorite cafe! I went with my family for our weekly family dinner. My first visit. I had the pasta combo with mac & chz and a caesar salad. Both amazing and portions bigger than anticipated. NOT Gluten Free! Do NOT eat here if you have celiacs or are gluten intolerant. Before recently, I had been to the Quarry location at least 9 or 10 times and was very pleased with my meal and the service that I received. So when my family came into town, including my sister that had recently been diagnosed with celiacs disease (i.e., highly allergic to gluten), and I realized there were Gluten Free options on the menu, I was delighted to take them there. When we arrived, I requested the GF menu, which was pretty basic but okay. My sister decided she would order a salad and stressed to the cashier that she could NOT have gluten. The cashier seemed confused as to what Gluten was or which items she could not have that would normally come on the salad. She thought my sister could not have the dressing, which she could (according to the GF menu). My sister stressed that she could not have croutons or the bread. Thought we were maybe in the clear, but I guess this should have been the first sign that the meal would not go well. When her order was brought to the table, it was not designated as GF and her salad had a piece of bread on it. BIG no-no. Due to her extreme allergy to gluten, there can be NO cross contamination of her food. So we asked the server to bring a new salad without the bread. They came back in less than a minute with probably the same salad and STILL brought the bread, but on a separate plate. My poor sister was so frustrated. It was clear that no one involved with her order had ANY clue what gluten was or how her meal should be prepared/treated. I ended up going up to the counter to ask if it was the same salad or if they had made a new salad. No one ever answered me. They just made her a new salad. The server also asked me what "gluten" was. I am completely disappointed in the service we received that day. If a restaurant is going to have a gluten free menu, then they should train ALL of their employees on what gluten is and the measures that should be taken if someone is gluten intolerant. I'm sure this goes without saying, but they certainly lost this repeat customer that day. read more

I ordered a meal to go and decided to get a brownie for my grandson who, at ten years old, has never met a brownie he didn't like. The brownies on display looked old so I mentioned I would like a fresh one. I was told the pastries on display were just that - displays and they would get a fresh brownie. I didn't think anymore of it until my grandson began to attempt to eat his brownie. It was hard, old and disgusting - you could pound nails with it, and he refused to eat it (first time EVER). In addition, the trio salad I ordered was completely wrong. Instead of kale I received tuna (I have a fish allergy) and had to throw the entire meal away for fear of contamination.
