Jambalaya and alligator bites
Ghina P.

This place is actually REALLY good. The rice and beans were so good and I had some alligator bites that were reat, fried just right. The jambalaya was also good. From the guy on thee street trying to pull you in to the waitress, everyone was nice and accommodating. It's a plus that they have a balcony, adding to the great vibe. I highly recommend this place if you are on Burbon and want to stop somewhere quick to eat.

cute little place to stop by! i'm giving it 4 stars because my group only got an appetizer to share, and we didn't try any entrees. the alligator bites were so good, though! they were like $14, which i think is pretty cheap for bourbon street. my brother got a huge ass beer, too. the drinks were like $14, which i don't really like, but that's typically pricing for NOLA, and most other restaurants these days. the service was a little slow, but maybe it was because my group just did an appetizer, also we were sat upstairs. the balcony was so fun, too!

We were looking for a balcony place to eat and came here. The server was very nice and helped us with choices. She was so awesome keeping our drinks full. The food and drinks are really good. Love the Cajun platter very delicious. The lemon chicken pasta was some of the best pastas I've had. The drinks was delicious too. I recommend the hurricane drink. Definitely will come back here when we come to visit New Orleans again.

Outstanding food and service! Right on Bourbon Street! The food doesn't disappoint. The fried alligator (delectable!) and the red beans and rice are splendid! They pour a pretty mean ice water, too! : ) There's nothing quite like eating great Cajun food in the atmosphere of the French Quarter.

Crab cakes and fried green tomatoes

We had dinner here last night. We decided to order a bunch of things to share, which worked out perfectly and was more than enough food for the two of us. The crab cakes were delicious, and I was pleasantly surprised to learn they came with fried green tomatoes - my friend ordered them and I didn't pay much attention to them in the menu... we don't recall what the sauce on the crab cakes was, it had crawfish in it and we were scraping it off the plate it was so delicious! The Ceasar salad was phenomenal! Between the dressing and the croutons we couldn't get enough! The Jubilee shrimp was good. I really enjoyed it, the sauce had a little kick to it, but not an overwhelming burn. My friend wasn't a fan of the sauce on the shrimp. But we liked the crisp breading on them! The chicken and andouille gumbo was good, pretty standard as far as gumbo. The chicken was tender, the sausage smokey. Overall good flavor too it. Service was good, our waitress was attentive throughout our meal without being too present. Would eat here again!

Stopped into The Coronet for a light dinner based off name alone since we were at the Jazz museum ealier in the day. Really cute tie to Louis Armstrong. It's right on Bourbon Street, which made for great people-watching around 9pm while things were still pretty calm and enjoyed some street performers in the background. I ordered a po' boy with fries, and both were delicious -- simple, tasty, and exactly what I was craving after a long day of exploring. Really cute spot with a fun musical connection and a nice break from the Bourbon Street intensity.

We dropped in because Yo wanted to watch the Raider game. They didn't have it but had NFL Red something where they rotate showing the plays. it was interesting. But it's fun sitting at the bar downstairs and watching people walking down Bourbon. Bartender was really friendly and I just ordered an old fashion. I'm not a game watcher but it was fun watching the others. Especially the couple who could've sat anywhere because it wasn't crowded, but sat next to us. The girl was difficult and complained and argued with her boyfriend. It was funny!

Tasty beverages! A hurricane and a blueberry hill, both not excessively sweet and very refreshing.

We were fresh in town and looking for some authentic food. We were seated on the balcony and enjoyed the view very much! My husband had the Jambalaya and I had the shrimp creole and they were both delicious. Service was a bit indifferent but not horrible.

We were looking for a place to grab a drink after watching a Saints game. We were drawn in by the balcony and the colorful umbrellas above Bourbons street. So, we made our way upstairs easily since it wasn't crowded. I ordered a Sazerac, a little disappointing. There was no live music. So overall, it was just okay. If I return, I'd like to try Cornet again.

Cornet is located on Bourbon street on one of the may busy corners. We stopped in solely because they were advertised on a screen saver on our television in the room at Hampton Inn & Suites on Canal Street. We went upstairs and ordered a blueberry vodka drink that was in a giant glass serving container behind the bar. Pricey drink, $31 for 2 of them, but it was a tasty drink. We went outside and found a 2 top table on the balcony (the last one) and began to enjoy our cocktail and sights from above. This is a great spot to people watch for certain. The vibe here is pretty laid back as it is with most places in the French quarter. We enjoyed our drink, our conversations and then we went off to Desire Oyster bar for happy hour: This is a clean place with marginally friendly staff. Nothing great by any means as far as the staff goes, but the overall location and the balcony venue is cool. We enjoyed it for one drink.

Street corner view from our table.

Summary 5/5 Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Value 5/5 We found this place at the recommendation of our tour guide. It has an authentic ambience, it's loud, but it's on Bourbon street, everywhere is loud. It wasn't too loud to have a conversation. Service was prompt and friendly. Our seats were next to an open window with a great view of the street corner. There was a lot of live music at the surrounding locations, but they were competing with each other, so we would get Elvis, John Denver, and Louis Armstrong all at the same time. The food was excellent. We split the beans and rice and a side of fries. Both were delicious and it was more food than we could eat (but we have small appetites). Lori had their blueberry infused cocktail and I had a mojito. The drinks were just okay. Overall it was great food, great ambience, and great service. Would go there again and highly recommend.

I stopped in solo on the first night of my recent business trip. It was chilly that night, so I sat at the bar away from the door. They do have a rooftop also. I ordered their blueberry hill cocktail, which was good but small and on the more expensive side. For food, I selected the catfish poboy. It had so much fish it could barely fit in the roll. I appreciated the lazy Susan with sauces on it, as I doused it in mayo. The fish may have been frozen but the flavor was still pretty good. I probably wouldn't stop here expecting award-winning food, but it's a decent stop for a quick meal. The tiny single-stall bathroom had a little TV, which was kind of cool and unexpected! They have cool history plaques around the restaurant too.

New Orleans Louisiana style menu which includes both casual fare, think sandwiches, gumbo and fried alligator nuggets. And a large selection of full sized entrees like rice and beans, and seafood pastalaya. There were literally so many great choices, you can't go wrong here with this menu. The best part of dining here besides eating was reading about it's rich history. The story of Louis Armstrong and the Karnovsky family. This is a must visit stop while in the French Quarter. Recommended by locals so it was definitely worth the visit.

Words simply cannot express how much I continue to be blown away by the exquisite quality of food,…read morebeverage, service, and uncommon hospitality demonstrated and perfectly executed by this New Orleans establishment. My wife and I visited on our first NoLa trip together about 4 years ago and make it a point to go every time now. Our first time we stopped in for lunch at the bar and had an excellent experience, and decided to return. We came back on the next trip just to grab a drink and a snack before heading down for dinner in the Bywater. The bartender (Chris) gave a bunch of recommendations for places to visit that way, all of which we have done in the past few trips and have loved. But it's this past trip where we were truly blown away. We were in town for JazzFest and after walking back to the French Quarter, we were thinking about food options and decided to take a gamble to see if we could get a seat at the bar or maybe grab a drink for the road before getting food somewhere else. The bar was full when we got there around 8/8:15, but they had a no show and could serve us, as long as we ordered quickly and were ok with the check hitting the table right at 9PM. Given our slightly (perhaps generous) inebriated state from being at the festival all day and being slightly underdressed, we felt this was quite a kind accommodation. With the clear expectations of needing to get our orders in quickly, we wasted no time making a decision on our drinks and a few food options. Despite this need for a quick turn around, at no time did we feel rushed. The food and drinks were absolutely perfect, as they always are. But what impressed us most was the staff. At no point did the hostess or wait staff seem annoyed by us, despite us parachuting in from a music festival and looking like sunburn and poor decisions. By managing expectations on the front end, we never felt rushed despite the need for a quick turn around. They were all lovely, professional, and as cordial as if we were regulars with standing reservations once a week. In terms of atmosphere, it is always perfect: lively and fun for a date night, dinner with friends/family, or just a nice drink before a night out and about. I truly cannot begin to explain how much I love this restaurant and every experience I've had there. The awards and accolades this establishment (a sincere and lofty term Jewel of the South truly deserves) have been awarded are beyond well earned. Restaurants around the country should aspire to provide the quality of food, service, and overall hospitality Jewel of the South provides on a regular basis. It will continue to be our first and foremost recommendation to anyone we know who is going to New Orleans. Bravo! We shall return!

Supposedly…read morereservations were hard to get, but that is because they allot most of the place for walk-ins, so you don't need to put in the effort that I did to book a time a month in advance. We were seated in the upstairs area and tried some of their drinks. We got the Brandy Crusta which is their most popular drink and the Pouvez-Vous Poulet which is a seasonal cocktail. The Brandy Crusta has the cup dipped in sugar with a fairly strong cocktail within. Definitely get this when you are here as that is one of the best Brandy Crustas and is historical. The Pouvez-Vous Poulet is a duck fat washed rum cocktail and is also very delicious. You cannot really go wrong with any cocktail, but definitely order the Brandy Crusta for the true experience here. Though, honestly, while the cocktails are good, it was not as memorable as the other Top 50 Best Bars in the World that I have been to, but I won't dock a star off because of this, since the cocktails and overall experience otherwise were fantastic. Service is good but can be a bit slow, but it is an acceptable tradeoff for a more quiet ambience compared to downstairs.

While I knew of the drink French 75, on the bar menu it was offered with either gin or cognac. I decided to try the cognac and so glad I did. Perfectly delicious! While the Sazerac wasn't invented here, this is arguably its most iconic home, a place where New Orleans cocktail history comes to life. I would use this version as your gold standard when dining out in New Orleans and looking for a perfect Sazerac. We enjoyed watching bartender Rachel craft each drink. Rye whiskey, Peychaud's Bitters, and sugar are stirred in a small pitcher with ice. The serving glass is chilled, then emptied, and finished with an absinthe rinse along the rim. The cocktail is strained into the glass and topped with a lemon peel. The atmosphere makes the experience even better. The murals, the history, and the energy of the room give it a sense of occasion that you do not get at most bars. We had such a great time sitting at the bar that my wife and I each finished two and a half Sazeracs, which tells you everything you need to know.

The Apothecary was the cure. We grabbed seats mid bar and before we even finished settling in, there were waters waiting on the bar. That simple move already separated this place from the chaos outside. It's hospitality in its cleanest form: welcome in, take a breath, we got you. Inside is low light and old time apothecary mood, menus like a spellbook, but it's not gimmicky. The bartenders move like they've done the reps. Calm. Precise. No frantic showboating, no syrupy cover ups, no sloppy pours even with the parade energy banging on the door. We ordered two and they were both dead on. Alchemist Elixir: pea flower gin, elderflower liqueur, fresh lemon. It shows up pale violet with an orchid on the rim and yes it's pretty, but it's also disciplined. Floral without tasting like perfume. Bright without being sour. A drink that makes you slow down. Plus a magic chemists surprise. Corpse Reviver #2: local gin, Lillet Blanc, Grand Marnier, absinthe, fresh lemon. Cold, crisp, citrus first, then the herbal edge and just enough absinthe to remind you what city you're in. Served in a textured coupe with a cherry skewer, details handled like they actually matter. Outside, the streets were selling amnesia in plastic souvenir cups. Inside, The Apothecary was serving adults. Let Bourbon Street keep the grenades. Give me the anecdote .

The decor is very French Quarterish, intimate, and exactly what you'd expect from a classic New Orleans cocktail bar. I'm a big fan of sitting at the bar, so as soon as I walked in, it was time to camp out at my favorite spot. Food wasn't on my mind today, so if you're here for a food review, you might want to skip this one . This was strictly a drinks only mission. At first, the bartender was a guy I recognized from Cure, which instantly set the tone. the bartenders there actually know their craft, so I already felt like I was in good hands. Then Zari entered the scene. I'm not sure if she was just getting on shift or wrapping it up, but she completely elevated the experience. I told her I'm a gin person (heavy on the gin), and instead of giving generic suggestions, she actually tailored recommendations to my taste. I ended up ordering the Clover Club cocktail, and it did not disappoint. Balanced, refreshing, and beautifully crafted exactly what I want from a gin-based drink. Then came my bonus round: a shot of Song Cai Dry Gin from Vietnam. Clean, botanical, and surprisingly smooth, definitely not your average gin. If you're into spirits with gumption, this one is worth trying. Peychaud's delivers: the drinks. The vibe is solid, the bartenders know their craft, and the gin selection is impressive.
