Went to Cornish Patsy and had a rough experience thanks to our server, Jessi D. Attitude was off from the jump, asked if we wanted a window seat, and when I said no because of the construction dirt pile blocking the view, that set the tone for the rest of the visit. She wasn't rude outright, just cold and unbothered, no warmth at all. She overheard us talking about a menu item, she let us know, almost gleefully, that everything else was available except that one. Food came out and I found a piece of hair in mine. Didn't even bother saying anything at that point, just didn't eat it. At checkout, she'd already marked "no receipt" without asking, so had to backtrack when I said I wanted one. I left no tip based on the service, and she loudly announced "thanks for the tip" across the restaurant on her way to the back, in front of other seated customers. Unprofessional and unnecessary. I'm a Vegas local and I've worked in customer service. I know what it takes to earn a tip, and I know a bad attitude when I get one. I'm only giving it 4 stars because we came when there was an extreme heat wave and sitting by the window was HOT I would suggest solar screens for the windows and turn up the AC. I don't know how crazy this place gets on the normally but I've been to the Scottsdale location (on a weekend) and that was pretty wild. The girls and I came in last Saturday around 10pm. This location is so fun and bigger than we expected. They have a Photo Booth with a wall full of pictures, a few pool tables, a huge bar and lots of seatings and tables. I tried their sticky toffee pudding and it was delicious 8/10- slightly crispy on the outside but soft and chewy on the inside, served with ice cream on the side. My friend got the chicken Caesar salad and loved it, as the chicken was perfectly cooked and tender filled with fresh ingredients. A favorite spot to eat in arts district. While the pasties take a while to come out, they are worth the wait! But there is so much good food besides that pasties. The tomato soup is one of the best I have ever had and I love that it comes with fresh bread for dipping. The pasties are exceptional. I have tried quite a few and haven't been disappointed yet. We have an over abundance of Asian restaurants here, which is great for me. But when it comes to European food, especially British food, there's a real lack. To get that vibe, this is a top choice. I initially wanted to be demure and only eat half but after I ate the first half, all demurity went out the window and I chowed down until there was nothing left on my tin plate. Wine pours were generous and everything was just about perfect. Except for one thing. The handle on the ladies' restroom going out is a wooden one. You cannot avoid touching. I don't want to touch wet wood after washing my hands at a restaurant. I sir, am a lady. Especially after the sign on the toilet read "do not flush tampons, pads, and rubbers." Y'all got some people clogging the toilet with condoms up in here? Must be the church like atmosphere that gets people going. But yea. Wood transfers bacteria easily. Especially when wet. They had no paper towels and a wet wooden door handle that had to be touched to leave the bathroom (can't just use your shoulders to bang you way out). This is just unhygienic. Especially since most of us eat the pasties with our hands. Please consider putting some stainless steel over the wood piece or otherwise changing that door handle. read more

Everything was delicious. The Cornish pasty is HUGE and definitely shareable unless you're feeling ambitious. We also tried the pasta salad, Caesar salad, and chips! all super good. Basically, not a single bad bite. My only complaint was the service at the beginning. We walked in and stood there for about 3-5 minutes without anyone greeting or acknowledging us. I could see staff busy in the kitchen/prepping, which is totally fine, but even a quick "we'll be with you shortly" or even "hi" would've gone a long way. It felt a little awkward and unwelcoming at first because it was just dead silent. We got here just after opening around 11:20 on a Monday. We were seated and I ran to use the restroom while the rest of my group stayed at the table. I had no idea how big this place was until I took that walk. It's a LONG building. Cool stuff to see and discover when you make your way back there. The only sad part was when I returned they said several items were out including the sticky toffee pudding I'd been hearing and reading so much about. I chose the Reuben having never had a pasty before wasn't aware how different it would taste without that rye bread. Definitely probably wouldn't order it again. I'd go with another filling. My son got the French dip which was good. When our waitress cane back to see if we needed boxes she went and checked on what desserts were now available and the sticky toffee pudding was now an option! I ordered that and my sister in law ordered the chocolate bread pudding. Neither one of us were overly impressed. My sticky pudding was good but half the toffee had gotten spilled over the ramekin and soaked up in the napkin under it. So needless to say not enough gooeyness for my liking. Her chocolate bread pudding had a good chocolate flavor but made it more like a chocolate cake than a bread pudding. She wished they'd of had regular bread pudding. Everyone overall liked the meal. I'm honestly really disappointed with my experience at Cornish Pasty Co. today around 3:30 PM on Saturday, May 16th. When I arrived, I was seated all the way in the back against a brick wall at a very cramped high-top table with low wooden seating. The setup was genuinely uncomfortable. I kept bumping my elbow against the wall and there was barely enough room to sit comfortably. Meanwhile, I noticed there were open booths with padded seating and significantly more space available. I politely asked if I could be moved somewhere more comfortable. The first option offered was a communal table where I would be seated directly with strangers during my meal, which I declined. The second option was literally the exact same table setup I was already sitting at, just two tables away. Same uncomfortable low chair, same high table, same cramped layout. I respectfully said I would just stay where I was. What crossed the line for me was when the employee suddenly picked up my backpack without asking and moved it herself. My backpack contained expensive personal belongings including a camera and laptop. You do not touch a customer's personal property without permission. Ever. Had the roles been reversed and a customer randomly grabbed an employee's purse or personal belongings, it would immediately be seen as inappropriate. At that point I decided it was best for me to leave before the situation escalated. As I was walking out, the employee loudly yelled across the restaurant, "ARE YOU LEAVING? ARE YOU LEAVING? OH OKAY COOL!" Completely unnecessary and incredibly unprofessional. The unfortunate part is I've had great experiences at the Henderson location, which is why this visit stood out so negatively. Customer comfort, professionalism, and personal boundaries matter, and this experience missed the mark badly. read more

The inside of this placed is cool, the decor is funky and a little eclectic. Church pews for some seating, various different shapes and colors of hanging lights, industrial metal accents, it all comes together to make a pretty rad looking place. Upon looking at the menu, we were presented with an almost overwhelming number of possible options, but after some tips from our waitress, we placed our order. My mom got their "traditional" beef pasty and I opted for the lamb vindaloo. Both of them knocked it out of the park. The pasty crust was cooked perfectly, it was fluffy with just the right amount of crisp on the outside. I was nervous if a place centered around british hand pies could pull off a proper vindaloo, but it was honestly really good, very happy! Took absolutely way too long to get seated and to be checked in on, at 7pm on a slow monday in a nearly empty restaurant. Was also ignored by another server entirely just standing around talking at the bar after she watched me wait at my table for quite some before being brought a menu or something to drink. Maybe they should turn the lights up a little bit as it was too dark. It might possibly help the staff wake up a bit too. Please do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere, there is better and more helpful service pretty much anywhere else in the area. These might weigh around five pounds each, no joke. What I love most is the variety. You can get them packed with just about anything. So far my faves have been the French dip, chicken tikka masala, Cubano, and salmon. Each one wraps familiar, crave-worthy flavors in golden, buttery pastry. Depending on what you order there are also an array of dipping sauces. Great music, church pews for seating, and even free parking which is very rare for Downtown nowadays. And there's an interesting story and history on how these got started with hard working coal miners. Fun fact: I'm a coal miners daughter. My dad did this grueling job when I was born in Poland. Beyond pasties they offer a fun spread of some other European eats like scotch eggs, liver pâté, and mushy peas. The menu also includes salads, soups, wings, cocktails & beers.
