I must say I've driven by this place 100 times and this is my first time trying it. We were seated quickly and served chips fast. Plenty of seating and it was super busy. I didn't know what I wanted but they came back a couple times to check. The food was delicious and good prices. The Jamaica water was pretty good as well. I wish the salsa would have been bigger because the "hot" was really good. But luckily they gave more! There is plenty to choose from on the menu. I will absolutely come back to eat more! read more

I came here for lunch and met a friend. I got sat right away. Service was a little slow. It took a while to order but we got our food quickly. They give you a mild and a hot salsa. The mild was pretty bland but the hot salsa was pretty good. I got the lunch special number 5-taco, burrito, and rice. I got my daughter a kids burrito and a taco. One thing I noticed about this place is that they nickel and dime you for everything! They charge you for more chips and salsa. They charged me for shredded chicken instead of beef even though it didn't say there was a charge for it. The menu literally just says "kids burrito and taco". They also charge for to go orders. It's really a turn off. Service still wasn't that great. Our drinks were completely empty. Not sure if I would come here again. read more

I just want to say, I arrived as they were closing last night because of the storm, they had out everything away and were about to leave. The guy who met me at the door saw I was on foot and I explained I was at the nearby hotel because my flights were cancelled and there was no place around open to eat. He went above and beyond to go in the kitchen and bring me back rice, chips, cheese sauce and salsa and on top of that wouldn't even let me pay for it!!! All I can say is that's a CKASS ACT!!!! Two years from my last review of Coronas and much is the same. The sodas are still $2.69 and we did come right after church, the place was busy. We were seated (party of 5) quickly and even though there were two other large parties, service was attentive. We only had theee soda drinkers this time so it was $8 in soda. Five people $65 plus tip. The food is good, but avoid the tamale as they are very thick and doughy with very little filling - not at all really "authentic" like the thinner, more filled, husk covered ones from other places. (Disclosure: I do order tamales from Texas over the internet, so I'm a bit of a tamale snob). Decent enough for a return visit, but be aware of the drink cost if you have a large party. read more

I've come here a lot. They have fairly good fajitas. I love the spicy queso dip. Standard chips and salsa upon arrival, not the best, but its free! Margaritas are huge! I really like the peach margarita that was blended, made me want to go to the beach. I would recommend this place over Willy Taco, especially for Cinco de Mayo. As an avid food critic I think it's important to state the difference between traditional Mexican food, west coast Mexican, Tex-mex and south easter Mexican cuisine as they have their differences and don't want to disappoint That being said Coronas is everything I could ask for in SE Mexican food. The white queso dip is to die for. Their portions are huge and the price is right. I ordered of the combination menu and they allowed me to sub out certain items to make my meal perfect. Staying at a hotel nearby and this place was walking distance. Totally surprised by how good the food was! I had enchiladas rancheras and my mom had a combo. My review is quite different from the others. I didn't enjoy the food at all and I will not be back. The salsa looked liked and tasted like tomato purée. This is the first time I have had a taco with no flavor. It just had beef and cheese on it. My burrito only had beef in it. The red sauce on top tasted like Ragu. I have been to tons of Mexican restaurants all over the US and Mexico and this was far from Mexican food. I Stopped in as I was curious about this Mexican Restaurant. Before I went in I was craving Huevos Rancheros which they had on the menu. I wasn't disappointed! I added some extras to the meal including fresh onions and cilantro with a side of guacamole. Absolutely delicious ! This place is legit. I thought about it after I had already dived into the huge wonderful plate of shrimp, scallops, onions, peppers, mushrooms and melted cheese. What a sight! I though I was just ordering a simple nachos plate but this was outstanding. It was a huge mound of yummy that was ample for 2 people but I of course did pretty well by myself, but couldn't finish it. The salsa there is really nice too. The waiter was terrific, refilled my husbands drink with unsweetened tea instead of sweet but was so apologetic and attentive, left him a nice tip. I was craving Mexican food and found this place on Yelp. Delivery was less than an hour which was a plus. The salsa and the rest of the food reminded me of the Mexican restaurant I grew up eating at. However, be prepared to have to choose between rice and beans with most of their entrees. I have to admit that was the hardest choice to make. I added a side of pico de gallo because I can't not have pico with my Mexican food and I had to choose between that or the salad. I will definitely be back when I'm in town again. read more

I've had real Mexican food (So Cal / TJ / Texas / AZ, etc) and this is the furthest thing from it. Mashed potato burritos should not taste like they've been made with instant flakes and ricotta cheese. I cannot remember the last time I spit food out. 2 out of the 3 people that sat down to eat... didn't. This really wasn't a case of "this is good food or bad food", but more along the lines of "can I really eat this"? I consider myself to be a pretty good judge of Mexican cuisine, and my experience at Corona's Mexican Restaurant on Pelham was absolutely HORRIBLE and the food wasn't good either. The waitress brought stale chips to our table along with two ramekins if watery salsa. The restaurant was not busy and after 20 minutes the waitress returned to take our food order. I ordered 2 soft chicken tacos and my friends placed their food order. The Guacamole Corona was the best tasting food choice. Again, after a very long time the waitress returns with all the food orders except mine. I let the person delivering the food know what I ordered and she left. My friends where nearly finished with their plates when the waitress returns and I asked about my tacos. She mumbled something and left. By the time she returned with my order, my friends had to wait for me to eat. I wish I could say the chicken tacos where good, but I don't care for canned chicken. Horrible service. Horrible food. 1 star is all I can give Corona's Restaurant on Pelham Road. I did however enjoy catching up with friends that I had not seen in a long time.
