    Strawberry Shake
    Jim E.

Stopped by for dinner, location is a 50's style theme diner, inside is well decorated, a little on the noisy side with the music. Ordered the meatloaf and a strawberry Shake, came with a side salad. Salad was nice, shake was a little bit too sweet for me, meatloaf was good but it was very crumbly, would have liked it have a little bit more firmness to it. Price with tax was just over $33. Buddy was my server and he was attentive and friendly.

I am a sucker for a good diner. This is the best I have been too. I have a severe chocolate allergy and our server took their time so I could get a milkshake without any cross contamination. Their gluten free bun is one of the bests I have had. I got the Rory burger and It was soo good. Make sure you add the jam.

This will be my 3rd time coming here. A great place to visit for new comers and bring the young ones, but a place that you just crave the food... I don't think the value is worth it. You're paying for the entertainment and ambiance for sure! Our service phenomenal! $65 (rounded up) for 2 burgers and a sandwich. My husband ordered the new Butter burger. Supposedly 2 patties. It was more like 1 patty split in two and cooked very thinly.

NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT !!! [insert 3 silhouette yelling emojis, a 100, and fire and exclamation marks emojis] After being THOROUGHLY disappointed by the other diner we went to (*cough*Beginner'sDiner*cough*), we had to cleanse ourselves with a TRUE diner and the Corvette Diner didn't disappoint! It's located at Liberty Station, which is, what seems to be a historical park. So there's a giant shopping area, several restaurants, people playing croquet, and much more. We were able to find parking and it's free. Even during the holiday season and it being a tad crowded, we had no issue. The cafe is extremely well themed and there is so much to look at in here! Service was super welcoming and our waitress had a such a great extroverted, entertaining personality. I didn't get her name but if she ever wanted to be a maid at a maid cafe, she'd be one of the top favorites for sure, she was so fun and personable! We had straws tossed at us, silly jokes, there were cards in the ceiling, there was a live radio station DJ right next to our booth. It was awesome! This place is so FUN! It's very retro 50's-60's themed with each section and room having completely different themes as well? Super cool. There was one that looked like you were in a moving train car, one where it was neon and hippy themed, etc. Lots of photo opportunities and I recommend, maybe when waiting for your food just walk around and take a gander. Portions were MASSIVE. I thought I was going to be able to share an appetizer sampler (Garbage Plate) with everyone but everyone ended up ordering their own entrees making a huge massive amount of food that had to be taken home in like 4-5 to go boxes. So keep in mind your portions are gonna be larger than life. All of the food is very classic American fast food diner fare. You got your burgers, fries, sandwiches, and of course milkshakes. I also had to get an outrageous milk shake here and it was the chocolate chip brownie decadence which wasn't horribly sweet as I'd imagine and it's not as daunting as something you'd get from Black Tap. Easy to take to go too and not too thick and coagulated. For my regular drink, I got the Green River which is a nice green soda with lots of cherries on top. They also had seasonal cocktail drinks too, which is always fun. There's an arcade off to the side, you get complimentary food server hats, and even though the penny press machine gave me something off center and silly they let me have another one for free with their own coinage. Definitely worth the visit since these type of places don't really exist in SoCal anymore and I definitely will come back with friends!

    Route 66 roast beef

The entire dining experience was overstimulating. Parking was fairly easy thanks to the restaurant's location near a lot. However, upon entering, we were immediately struck by the blaring music and brightly colored decor. The restaurant was packed, and between the scheduled dances and singing performances, it took quite a while before we received any assistance. Our server was friendly but was repeatedly pulled away for other duties, which significantly slowed down the meal. Once our order was placed, the food arrived relatively quickly. *Route 66 Roast Beef: an unusual combination of sliced sourdough topped with mashed potatoes, roast beef, and gravy. The bread became completely soaked, creating a rather heavy carbohydrate on carbohydrate dish. The mashed potatoes were easily the most flavorful component. Unfortunately, the gravy was doing most of the work, as the roast beef itself was quite overcooked. *Side Salad: included with my platter. The vegetables lacked both freshness and crispness so I was unable to finish it. *Butter Hop Scotch: I appreciated that the shake was served with the extra metal mixing cup on the side. The flavor was rich, buttery, and indulgent. I would have preferred a stronger malt presence, but it was still enjoyable and easily large enough to share. Ultimately, this felt more like a destination for families with young children than for those looking for a relaxing meal. The constant music, performances, and overall noise level made it difficult to enjoy the dining experience, and our server had little opportunity to check in on us. The milkshake was easily the highlight of the visit, while the food itself was largely forgettable.

    Buffalo Blues
    Joel T.

First time here I just want to mention to all the gluten free people they got a separate menu just for us, and I really appreciated that! I ordered the Buffalo Blues and everything was amazing. The food was fresh, crisp, and flavorful. My only 2 critics would be I wish they added a little more blue cheese to the chicken sandwich. My meal was roughly $22, a little on the pricer end. Service was great, our server was very joyful and gave excellent recommendations. If you don't like noisy restaurants then I would not recommend this spot as they do birthday shout outs every few minutes and most of the time it's for kids.

If you're going to do a themed restaurant you have to go ALL IN. Theres no half-assing it. From the food to the decor to the staff, everything has to be on theme. Corvette Diner is the perfect example of what a themed restaurant should be. Everything about this place screams 50s and 60s. The music, the menu, the staffs outfits, and the decor. The whole restaurant is an experience and one that shouldn't be missed. You'll come in wondering what to expect but whatever you imagine won't live up to what happens.

My love for this place can't be expressed in a few simple words but I shall try. Corvette is such a special place me and my family. We have spent many birthdays, anniversaries and random dinner dates here. The service is always 10/10, the ambiance is always vibrant and full of energy. A true San Diego gem!! All the food is always so good, it does not matter what you order, you are bound fo have a great time. Now for the highlights.. the fried pickles. Can't say enough good things about them, if you have not had them you are missing out. The milkshakes are also iconic for a reason. The entire ambiance and service too!

Excellent atmosphere. I left San Diego with a propert send off from the local soda jerks. I had the Elvis milkshake and an Oklahoma double meat cheeseburger. There was three adults and one toddler in our party. The service was ok. Waitress threw straws at us, kind of silly but made us smile. What you are paying for here is the atmosphere, the service and a great milkshake. The burgers and fries are meh at best. My patties were partially raw, and didn't have time to wait for another order as we had a flight to catch. $177 with tip. Thus the 3 star rating.

Everyone is super lively! This place is great for families and birthdays. As its a lot of fun, waitresses dance and run throughout the restaurant. Its very cute. Food was okay my sandwich was just loaded with slaw so I couldn't taste the fish. I didn't get dessert, but it looked great.

This is a retro-restaurant with a lively atmosphere and great for large gatherings. The atmosphere is like an adult Chucky Cheese with decent food quality and large servings. Kids would like the cuisine too, while waitstaff are entertaining and helpful. I don't think I need to come back, as I've already experienced it, but it was truly entertaining!

Management actually reached out to me after my Yelp review. They sent a very polished, very corporate message asking a few questions, so I replied with real answers. And then... nothing.. vapor. They ghosted the conversation they started! It felt less like customer service and more like I accidentally responded to an unplugged chat bot. I've been coming to Corvette since the Hillcrest days, back when the place had personality, it felt like they cared about their regulars. Menu prices are misleading as they now tack on a 5% hidden fee on the entire check! Even the game cards get the "inflation" fee tacked on.. which is wild. Now it feels like they're monetizing every possible interaction. Want a photo $$$$? Want a balloon animal$$$? Add in the shrinking hours and declining overall food quality, and it feels like they're coasting on nostalgia instead of earning it. I'm not rooting against them. I'd love to see the heart come back. But right now it's like watching an old friend who can't quite remember how to be themselves.. and takes your presence as a given. I may treat my kids to a birthday celebration there... but the days of dropping in mid week for a bite will be done at a smaller neighborhood joint. Where the owners look you in the eye and are actually grateful for the patronage.

Our waitress was attentive, checked on us regularly, and kept us updated on when our food would be coming out. She was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. I ordered the: Country Fried Steak: this was by far the best country fried steak I've had in San Diego! It was absolutely huge. I ended up taking half of it home for leftovers. It was also loaded with gravy, which I loved. I got the mashed potatoes and gravy and broccoli as my sides, and everything was delicious. They have a very extensive menu, and there are so many other things I want to come back and try. I honestly can't believe I've lived in San Diego for almost 10 years and am just now discovering this spot! Between the portions, prices, service, and quality of the food, this is definitely one of the best breakfast spots in San Diego. And the prices are awesome for what you get. I'll absolutely be back!

Despite the crowds, there were a few seats available to sit and dine. Usually one must check in with the manager inside the diner, but this time the manager happened to be a few steps away and she said I could sit anywhere I wanted...YAY! I had my pup Fendi in tow and we sat down for a while to enjoy the usual cool music and be voyeurs. As with most diners, it would be better if all the selections on the menu is available to order 24/7. Many items are only available to order during particular times. It was a sunny hot San Diego day, which called for an icy mocktail, a Greek salad and small french fries. The yogurt dill sauce enhanced the taste of both the salad and fries... so good. Service from the manager and servers were cordial, attentive and friendly. A bowl of water was offered for my baby and I always appreciate that extra effort. There were only a few stools available at the counter, but I was greeted right away by the hostess and seated immediately. A waiter quickly brought me a glass of water and a menu. I ordered the: * Country Fried Steak (3/5): The breading was nice and crispy, but the steak itself was pretty mediocre. It also didn't come with nearly enough gravy, so I asked another server for extra, and she was kind enough to bring me some. The meal comes with two sides. You can choose from creamed spinach, green beans, sautéed corn, or broccoli along with a carb of mashed potatoes, a baked potato, fries, or onion rings. I chose: * Sautéed Corn: Unfortunately, this had a strange flavor. It really could have used some butter and salt. * Mashed Potatoes: The potatoes themselves were fine, but the gravy wasn't the traditional style you'd expect with mashed potatoes, and I wasn't a fan. One positive was how quickly the food came out; it took less than 10 minutes from ordering to being served. The prices are definitely on the higher end. My country fried steak was $32, and my total came to just over $40 with tip. One thing that stood out was how disorganized the service felt. There was a hostess, around five different servers, and even the manager helping on the floor. I never had one dedicated server throughout my meal. One person took my order, another brought the extra gravy, the manager delivered my food, and someone else cashed me out. Even though it was busy, it's not a very large restaurant, so the service felt unnecessarily chaotic. They could definitely improve the overall customer experience with better organization. Parking can also be difficult, so keep that in mind if you're visiting during peak hours. Overall, it's a cute spot, and I appreciated finding country fried steak since it's not something you see on many menus anymore. Unfortunately, both the food and the service were pretty average. I'm glad I tried it, but I don't think it's a place I'd go out of my way to return to.

Rudford's became option #2. Open 24/7 and a wide selection of food choices, it seemed like our best option. Chicken fried steak sounded like a good choice. My wife chose the Reuben's sandwich with crinkle cut fries. My wife wasn't too impressed with her sandwich but my chicken fried steak was tender and the gravy was flavorful with a touch of pepper. I added a slice of blueberry pie to take back to the hotel. Our server was very pleasant and did a great job of checking on us to make sure everything was good. I was very satisfied with my dining experience and was happy to find a place open 24/7 the next time I'm in San Diego if I need to find a place to eat after normal dining hours. The parking lot is on the small side so it might be difficult to find a spot during peak hours. Definitely a place to keep in mind if you're looking for decent coffee shop fare.

It took aN HOUR to get our food and they were not busy. Just talking to eachother. I think the one of the male servers with the "dog choker chain" is extremely rude and unprofessional, wasn't welcoming or accommodating. I dread going to places with poor service. We did not get checked on AT ALL no matter how many times we left our drinks at the end of the table, Getting a refill was nearly impossible let alone asking for condiments, napkins, or anything else. if you know tips are a big part of your job why wouldn't you be on point with your customer service? Or work elsewhere.

French onion soup. Enough said. Deviled eggs rounded out our light snack, and those were freshly prepared. While the expected olive and chive flavor was outstanding, the anchovy was done just right to elevate the dish (my understanding now is that anchovy is usually included in deviled eggs as served in Europe). Our espresso martinis excelled at fronting the coffee taste before the vodka, instead of the usual other way around. This sip was exactly as I remember when I had the same for dinner previously. Service as mentioned, was extremely friendly and more importantly, went beyond service and well into hospitable. Love coming here. So, if you're in the area and just need a light snack (or a hearty dinner), drop on by - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

But your best with public transportation, rideshare, or carpooling. Seating: It's a smaller, intimate space with a mix of tables, booths, and bar seating. Room for maybe 50 people or so. Vibes: In the heart of Downtown San Diego, there are a lot of eateries and activities. The spot itself, Saint James feels like someone took an old-school American diner, sent it on a trip to Paris, and brought it back to San Diego. You still get the casualness and familiarity of a diner, but with the moodier lighting, décor, bar, and menu of a French bistro. It's stylish without feeling like you need to be overly dressed up. Being tucked into the Palihotel also gives it that cool boutique-hotel energy. FOOD / DRINKS Burger Parisienne (Recommend) A comforting flavor with some simple french influence. At its core, you've got something very American: a juicy cheeseburger. Then the French influence with the caramelized onions and a rich bordelaise (sweet wine) sauce. It's rich, savory, and makes this much more of a fork-and-knife burger than your typical grab-it-and-go situation. French Martini (Recommend) When at a French restaurant, do French things. Fruity, smooth, and easy to drink. You get the sweetness and tartness you'd expect from a French Martini, making it a nice contrast to the richness of the Burger Parisienne. CUSTOMER SERVICE Friendly, attentive, and professional. Can't complain! TL;DR OVERALL 4 Stars. Good food, good drinks, and that balances French flavors with American culture. It's not quite a traditional American diner nor a traditional French bistro. If you're exploring Downtown San Diego and want something a little different without going full fine dining, this is worth checking out. TIPS * Check out their weekday Happy Hour from 3-6 PM

Eventually someone new came to address me and said no dogs in restaurant. I again stated she is a service animal and pointed out her vest. I probably should file an ADA complaint. Eventually I was seated. I ordered coffee & V8 juice to start. My coffee came almost immediately but I waited and waited for the V8 juice. I asked about it several times and was told they were working on it. After waiting for 15-20 minutes my waitress advised me that "he" ran out of V8 and was going to "the back" to get more. I went ahead and ordered my breakfast, Chilaquiles. The menu description says, "Corn tortilla chips" so I was expecting crisp, fried tortilla chips. Turns out it several corn tortillas cut in triangles. They are not heated, grilled or fried. My Sunny Side eggs were Sunny side up HARD. The breakfast lacked flavor. The tomatillo sauce had no flavor or spice. It's served on a bed of their famous hash brown - almost raw shredded hash browns. I left most of the breakfast on the plate. I did enjoy the coffee and V8 juice. There were a lot of employees but it was hard to get anyone's attention. Service was poor. Nice restaurant inside with some great local memorabilia on the walls. My bill was $34 and change. Yes Harry's has been around a very long time. In fact, I was a little kid when I first ate there. Sorry to say this but I suggest you pass on Harry's. San Diego has much better breakfast spots.

The restaurant itself has an open and welcoming atmosphere, comfortable seating, good a/c, friendly service, a good variety of menu options...however, the cost for what you get doesn't equate. Now, their prices are fair, compared to many other places out there, but due to the lack of quality it just hits harder. My Monte Cristo was so sad-looking and dry. The turkey was heavily peppered, which might be okay in any other turkey sandwich, but this did not go well with what a Monte Cristo should taste like (iykyk)...even when the raspberry jam was added all you could taste was pepper. In addition to the strong pepper taste, the turkey itself was extremely dry and shredded to pieces when I tried to remove it. Very disappointed. When I told our waiter, who was very friendly and had been attentive, he said that he'd let the cook know--and that was it. No follow up. No apology. My son had the French toast and it was okay, nothing special. I usually have lunch here, but it's been a few years since I've been here for breakfast -- so this was a bummer. The past few times I felt like the quality was slipping, but I chalked it up to a possible "off" day...but this recent visit confirmed that they weren't "off" days and the quality truly has slipped. Hopefully they can reevaluate things and make some improvements. They have a good menu and nice concept, I just hope they improve their quality and presentation.
