We visited this fun diner many times in its original location in Hillcrest when we lived in the area. I was excited to try the new location at Liberty Station. It did not disappoint. The fun, 50s decor still pervades the interior. The wait staff still perform, throw straws down all over the table, and behave like over dramatic characters--all part of the fun. There's a sign saying weights could be yes long as 90 minutes, but our party of three was able to be seated in about 15 minutes on a Sunday night. There's a huge parking lot with plenty of parking so that made it nice and I have to worry about finding parking in the area inside. They totally hit that old time team with the music and the diner. Feel special with all the movies and Elvis videos playing during the seating. I got a lemon lime, Shirley Temple and the Rory burger which was peanut butter and pickle. I've had some good peanut butter and pickle burgers at other places so this one fell a bit short for me overall. The peanut butter didn't add much taste to the burger. There wasn't enough of it. The burger was very Bready. The fries were decent and the drink was good. The atmosphere is incredible, the entire restaurant has the 60s vibe with portraits of stars like Elvis everywhere. Gloria was such a sweet and fun waitress, she made sure to make my friend's birthday so special by singing for her and keeping up the energy the entire night! I ordered a beer in which they delivered the wrong one. A OK in the real world, but i was met with defiance and a rude attitude. My partner, a San Diego Native, has been raving about this place since long before I had had the chance to visit, so my expectations were quite high. From the paper diner hat, to the outfits and makeup and songs, the themed rooms to the live radio broadcast booth, it was a truly infectious kind of excitement. The food was wonderful - you can't really go wrong with diner food in my opinion, especially with the fun variety of flavors and combinations many of their menu items had. We got an Elvis milkshake (banana, peanut butter, and marshmallow!) as well as the Rory burger, which was super unique, with a peanut butter sauce along its bacon burger. My favorite was the Buffalo Bleus - a fried chicken sandwich with blue cheese, and buffalo sauce, that was as flavorful as it was messy, and I loved every bite of it. Our waitress was super friendly, and super into the 60's spirit, which made the whole experience that much more fun. She let us know about the arcade in the back as well, which was a whole other room or lights, games, and fun. Corvette diner is such a gem of a restaurant, I truly can say I've never been anywhere else like it. Then we received the bill and they charged us 20% for a tip, which I would have happily paid if the waitress was deserving. On top of that, they charged a 5% fee. As soon as you walk in, you experience the coolest sight of neon lights, antique metal signs, classic cars, and that old diner feel. It came out to $38 per person for burgers and cold fries. We sent the fries back and they came out cold again. The milkshakes were easily the best part of the meal.
