Corvette Diner is a family friendly spot with a 60s retro feel. Think of a mix between Johnny Rockets and John's Incredible Pizza. I liked how they had a DJ mixing music and a variety of arcade games for both kids and adults. Our server was quirky and energetic which at first I thought was just his personality but it is apparently what each server does as part of the theme. I will return to try more of their food. This restaurant is very nice, noisy and located in a beautiful area and service is great. It is unfortunate that the food is not good, they add a 5% surcharge for a really bad reason. I don't mind paying higher prices if the food is good but why add surcharges. I think it's a bad business practice - just put the real prices, for example Islands is a little more expensive even when Corvette surcharge is added but I rather go back to Island because of the better food. I ordered a burger and the meat and bread were very dry, we also hot a BLAST sandwich and it was average. Been to Corvette Diner too many times to count but my families last outing at the restaurant was outstanding. Our waitress Gloria was wonderful, personable, efficient and quick. She could tell my little one was needing food so made sure food was put in with the drinks. We were sat as soon as we arrived and had our food and drinks within 30 minutes which we thought was great for being prime dinner time on a holiday weekend. Came here on a rainy Saturday for lunch around noon. The wait was about 30 minutes for a party of 3. We ended up going to the arcade area while we waited. The women's bathroom was out of order because the faucets weren't working. Spent $20'at the arcade before our table was ready. We sat in the area where the walls had an ongoing tv flashback of back in the day. Our waitress arrived a few minutes later and took our order. Our toddler had the chicken tenders and fries + strawberry milkshake. I ordered the chicken buffalo sandwich with fries + peanut butter chocolate shake and my husband ordered the Brenda burger + strawberry shake. I wish we would have asked for water because our food came out before our shakes. When our waitress noticed that our shakes weren't there she went back and came over with our shakes. Unfortunately, our shakes were melted at this point since they were probably made a while back. Our food was cold as well and the fries looked like they were double fried. You know when you can just taste the old oil in the fried food? That's what our fries tasted like, like when was the last time that oil was changed? The food was mediocre at best. It was my first time at Corvette Diner with my mom and aunt, and we decided to try it out since we had a gift card. At first the prices looked reasonable, but they added up quickly--our table got the Kookie burger, California Dreamin' chicken sandwich, Hawaii 5-0 chicken sandwich, and the Vette Banana Split, and without the $50 gift card it would've been around $80 (there's also a 5% support fee, but you can request to have it removed). The portions were big, which helped justify the price, and I personally enjoyed the burger the most; the chicken sandwiches were a bit heavy, but upgrading to sweet potato fries for a couple extra dollars was worth it. We were seated in the dark 70s-themed room with neon projections all over the walls and ceiling, which was honestly pretty cool and made the experience more fun. I came across this restaurant and it looked fun. Singing and dancing servers and an arcade! The kids enjoyed the arcade, but the table they gave us was all the way at the end, right isle, at the back. I think it's where families with little kids are seated as the other families around me had little kids too. We could hear singing but could not see anything. Our server was friendly. We supposedly just came for Icecream, but ended up ordering the garbage plate. Food was good, the usual burgers and fries. It was huge! 2 adults and 2 toddlers barely made a dent. Great food and great service, more than what I expected. This was our first time here with friends to spend the weekend in SD. It is very loud, though they are constantly celebrating birthdays, and there is an MC hosting on a mic. It is very family oriented and friendly. The servers have the best attitude and are exceptional at what they do and with handling people. The food is also good, their burgers and sandwiches are very tasty and what you expect from a diner. This place is fun!!! Came here after checking out the vintage market and walking around the pumpkin patch. We got seated right away. Staff was fun and friendly. Our food came out quick and we were able to get game cards for the kids to use before our food came out. Hubby got a burger while I got the tuna melt and kids got a hot dog and grilled cheese and milkshakes. We were all satisfied with our meals. The restaurant has a fun vibe and the decor that reflected it's intended past. The waitresses performed a song which added to the atmosphere. Check it out when you're in the area. Loud music playing, glow in the dark decals, waiters dressed up in 50s gear even dancing for us, a corvette, arcade, and a tons of cool stuff! Here's the goodies we ordered: Garbage plate: lots of fries, 2 sliders, cheesy potatoes skins, onion rings, mozzarella wedges, and ginormous chicken fingers, (that's what was described), although it wasn't all that ginormous to me. Everything was still tasty. They gave us 3 dipping sauces to accommodate all of our finger foods. ($26.99) Cookies & Cream shake and Chocolate Shakes: both yummy and super refreshing and creamy! I mainly gave this diner a solid 4 star due to the entertainment offerings from arcade games and the staff singing and dancing. What a vibe here. Service was incredible--our server was super kind and full of personality. We had a large party and our server was very attentive to every one of us. I didn't visit here with high expectations on food and surely enough the turkey dinner I had was a bust unfortunately. Honestly the place is average for simple food. Nothing worth going out of the way for. The environment is really cool and they have an arcade inside. My go to for this place is the shakes. So I left without ordering food because I didn't like her attitude that it was more important for her to dance instead going to get the sweetener. I am elderly and I can't drink Iced Tea without sweetener. I am not going back after this disappointing experence. She genuinely seemed to be enjoying having us as her guests. Everything was prompt and almost anticipatory. There was an iconic San Diego radio DJ who was there tonight and putting on a show. He apparently has his very own XM Radio show. 2 Stars Food: it was about what I expected. I have rarely gone to one of these types of restaurants (atmosphere over food) and the food happened to be amazing. This was about the same. Average tasting food with a couple of standouts. The cheese sticks and the fried pickles were really good. The fries were also tasty. Burgers and sandwiches were average but not bad. We did not partake in any shakes which is a huge part of their menu. Checked our receipt and found a 5% "supplemental fee" added to our check for "rising costs"!! At no point prior were we made aware of this fee. I have included a picture of the menu and no where did it state this fee. Really disappointed in this lack of transparency prior to ordering. Don't be lazy and just reprint menus absorbing the increase or at least reprint covers to show this. We will most likely try other places at Liberty Station I just can't stand hidden fees, I know 5% is not much but it's the principle of the matter.
