Baked shells
Julian N.

When entering inside of this restaurant, we first noticed the beautiful details in their architecture and design. There's a lot of curves, soft lights, colors, greenery, and texture. Ambience plays a huge role in how you feel in the dining room--Cosetta did it right. The staff is warm and welcoming, making it easier to feel right at home. Kenzie was our server and she made the whole dining experience wonderfully entertaining. We definitely felt like special guests. To start, we had a chicken live mousse. Although it was great, the sourdough definitely stood out. It felt fresh, even when we came close to closing. The yellowtail crudo that our server recommended was the favorite of the two Crudo dishes, but maybe I'm biased because there was SE Asian influence (and I'm Vietnamese). I'm most impressed with the small details in the execution of the dishes. Like how did they make the shell pasta dish crispy, WITHOUT making it dry? How did they make the chicken Milanese so crispy and light? How did they make the pizza so thin, yet not flimsy? Ive dined at over 80 of the LA Time's 101 Top Restaurants and these are the details that make me come back for more. Our party liked everything we ordered. From the smoked mozzarella stick to the Wagyu tri tip. The finishing polenta cake was the blueberry on top (literally had blueberries). Cosetta does a lot of things right--being hospitable and having high standards for their food are just a couple.

What a pleasantly surprising dinner here!! Walked in without a resy for dinner but was able to get a table. The place was full so I'd def recommend booking it ahead of time. For starters, we got the burrata, shrimp scampi, and Caesar salad. The highlights were definitely the shrimp scampi and the salad!! Sooooo delicious. I wanted to dip all my bread in the sauce for scampi. Shrimps were also perfectly cooked. I feel like this could even be a pasta dish lol For main, we got the mushroom pizza which was also super delicious! Definitely one of the best pizza spots around the area. Highly recommend. The vibe for this restaurant is also very nice. Back patio has many tables with heat lamps. Front patio also has lounge chairs to relax in with drinks. The cocktail was also delicious here! Will definitely be coming back!!

Always so enjoyable, love the patio and menu. Love the crudo and pizza. This was the first time getting the cutlet and also was great. Always end up coming back.

Ceasar salad

Came here for lunch just to see if the Ceasar salad was good as I remembered it. It is. I don't know why it's so good, but it is. The combination of the dressing and the chicory is great. The serving size is generous as well. Service was excellent. Ambiance is nice.

Mozzarella sticks

Loved loved loved. Seriously. Loved. And let's be real. We can all use more love. Loved the service. Loved the food. Mozzarella sticks. Supreme pizza. Chicken Caesar sandwich. Go with that combo and you'll be in love. Oh and you'll love the interior decor and or patio! Go on a nice sunny day and love that Santa Monica sunshine while you dine!

Guanciale pizza, shells pasta, chicken Milanese
Anna H.

Not a bad meal but given the other options for great family style / neighbourhood spots with Italian influence, I wouldn't come back. Both salads we got were great - the chop and the Caesar - great texture flavour and portions everything was fresh and delicious. The chicken Milanese - which was recommended as one of their standout dishes - was disappointing...chewy in parts and the Thai sauce did not really complement the dish. Pasta shells were pretty good, nicely crisped from being baked & a tasty creamy sauce with burrata on top - the Guanciale pizza wasn't bad but kind of dry - even being a sauceless pizza it should still have a little more oil drizzle or something and the base was too dry. Overall just not that memorable a meal - though a nice restaurant and decent vibe

Wings

This place has great food and great service!! The pizza was delicious and the ranch was even better. The wings, though pretty spicy, were really tasty and I thought it was a great addition for an app. You can never go wrong with mozzarella sticks and these were top notch--great cheese pull, perfectly fried, great sauce with it. The butter beans were different and I really enjoyed them along with the Chicken Milanese. We did have quite a long wait but that was expected without a reservation, although the host was so friendly and consistently updated us. We ended up waiting around an hour but because our server knew that, he was super accommodating. For the drink, I got 2 margaritas--these were good but nothing to write home about. The vibe inside is perfect, well-lit, updated and modern and I really liked the decor and fixtures. 10/10, recommend this place for casual eats, happy hour with friends, or even date night.

Yellowtail Crudo
Karolina L.

Ok, you guys redeemed yourself. That Yellowtail Collar with potato salad (a surprising pairing, but works so well!) was one of the best thing I have had in a very long time! The Yellowtail Crudo had a great flavor as well. The menu changes slightly, and I can tell you guys are trying new things, adding some pasta dishes as well. I love it and appreciate it!

Mozzarella sticks (gluten free)
Kerry N.

Absolutely UNREAL gluten free experience!! I've been dying to try Cosetta since it opened and finally got the chance to go. I went with my friend who is also gluten free and we shared a few plates. I had to try the mozzarella sticks because I haven't had good gluten free ones in so long and these were worth the wait to try, came out so fast and were perfectly crispy with an amazing cheese pull. We also got the new Vodka Shells which were so unique and so delicious. It was such a fun flavor combo of vodka arrabiata sauce, burrata, and smoked oil. We finished with the Chicken Milanesi which was massive. This had the best gluten free breading, perfectly seasoned, and the cherry tomatoes and thin oil based sauce beneath it were surprising and perfectly complementary. All was good, but sooo filling, definitely plenty of food. It was a modern space with a great heated patio. Can't wait to go back!

Happy hour menu
Carlo G.

Kind of disappointed with the food here after this place was so hyped up. I came here with my co-workers for happy hour and many of us also shared the same sentiment. Firstly, for drinks I ordered the cannoli negroni and it was alright. The drink was strong, but I did like the sweet candied orange on top which balanced with the drink well. However, the cocktails were small and full of ice which wasn't really worth the price paid for them. For the food, the mozzarella sticks were okay. They weren't anything special and tasted like the ones of the box. I did like the marinara dipping sauce though. The chicken wings were standard and spicy. No complaints really, but they felt like sports bar food. The pizzas were okay, but too salty for my liking. They were also a bit too wet so the toppings just slid right off. I liked the dough, but my co-workers didn't like how many of the parts were burnt. Also, my co-workers and I are fans of pork jowl so when we saw that the guanciale pizza had them, we had to order it. However, we were disappointed since it seemed like they only put bacon on the pizza, not pork jowl. The food wasn't bad here, just disappointing considering the expectations we had for it. Overall, not the best experience here. The ambiance was nice, but the food could've been better.

Shrimp appetizer 10/10
Dan B.

I went to this place on a wim, and I'm struggling to find anything wrong with anything about the experience. So it's as simple as that, it's great ambience, great service, and great food. The food reminded me of being in a good Italian place in Vegas, but without the Vegas pricing. Definitely coming back here!

Pizza
Victor L.

It was a restaurant where the ambiance matched the quality of the food. Really good, I like how intimate it was, and food was solid! Pizzas were Neapolitan style which is good, and drinks are strong

Biancoverde and Hawaiian pizzas
Angelina S.

Excellent pizzas and one of the best chicken caesar salad wraps we've ever had. The butterbeans were also excellent with the fennel and fennel pollen really elevating the dish with texture and a nice bright flavor. They had a large patio perfect for an al fresco lunch and we loved that it was also dog-friendly.

Appreciate that the bartenders were attentive and that the place wasn't too full or busy. Happy hour drinks are worth the price. The regular cocktails are good but cannot compare to more well known places. I liked that there were bar seats, standing tables and seated areas. I wish they had some bar snacks but because they don't offer food, you can bring your own.

It had a cool vibe and tons of allocated bottles on the bar (tequila and whiskey and whisky to name a few categories). The staff greeted us quickly and supplied us with some menus. I opted for the Idyllwild cocktail and loved it! It had the most complementary flavors and was so refreshing with the bourbon, yuzu, chartreuse, honey, and lemon flavors. My husband opted for a neat Caballito Cerrero Puntas pour (high proof agave spirit). They only had 0.5 Oz for their bottle and only charged for the partial pour. People came in and ordered anything from cocktails to neat pours to flights. It was a cool spot and the bartenders seemed pretty well versed in different cocktails, giving a few suggestions to different patrons. Even making a few Espresso Martinis for a couple of girls that didn't really like their initial cocktails. Staff was cool, attentive, and pretty quick and efficient with the pours. I'd definitely be down to try more drinks here if we roll through again. Luckily, we found some close street parking and it wasn't super busy so we easily found parking in the area. It also wasn't super packed in the venue so we could've opted for other seating--lounge areas, a few tables, or just at the bar.

A huge thank you to Super All-Star Yelp Elite Gary I. for suggesting dinner at Asakura during…read moredineLA, Winter 2026. Reservations are essential, as dinner is served at timed seatings. It's an intimate and comfortable setting, with only around 14 seats available. Executive Chef Keigo Yoshida and General Manager Masaki Ishiba were running a two-man show the night we dined as Asakura and did an astounding job. They balanced perfectly executed dishes with warm hospitality, keeping all the guests happy in the meantime. The Omakase menu offers dishes created to the absolute highest standard; the Chawan Mushi with Black Truffle is the best version I have ever had of this dish. Outstanding! Please see photos for the menu but keep in mind the menu will change with the seasons. I cannot wait to return to Asakura. And....free parking in the lot.

Very limited seating with 3 tables and 6 high chairs at the Chef's counter so reservations are de rigueur. Executive Chef Yoshida and General Manager Ishiba set the pace in friendly, warm service. There is a short course Kaisèki-Omakasè (oh mah kah seh) seating at 5pm and a full course at 7pm. The Kaisèki-Omakasè start on time so make sure to arrive on time or be left behind. As is typical of high-end Japanese restaurants, the seasons are recognized in terms of ingredients as well as touches of seasonal motif on ceramic accoutrements. So wonderful that DineLA on occasion brings to attention a restaurant so finely tuned in exquisite, understated, elegant cuisine. Our limited menu was full of revelatory morsels that really hit the mark. 1) Basket of Appetizers: A) Gindara/Sable fish marinated, sweet Kasu Zukè lightly grilled that was flakey, buttery, fatty. Bit of finely grated Daikon radish to add "spiciness". B) Tamago Yaki: Moist, eggy, egg omelet, whisper of sweetness. C) Compressed chicken thigh "torchon". Like a baked sausage with some parts plush and other parts more meaty and firm. Good Jidori chicken flavour. Fatty, chewy, thin skin acts as the casing. D) Panko bread crumb encrusted Kazu no Ko Kombu/cod roe on kelp leaf cube fried in oil. Exercise in popping, crunchy texture with faint sea vegetable scent. E) Poached dried apricot, touch of creamy Tōfu purée topped with a sweet black bean symbolizing good health. F) Dashi/broth braised ice berg lettuce, scattering of Shirasu/salted micro baby fish fry & Katsuo Bushi/shaved, dried Bonito flakes adds more sea Umami. G) Goma Dōfu: Not made from soy bean but made from Kuzu. Texture is smooth, gooey, plush, touch sticky in sweet Shōyu/soy sauce, Mirin/sweet Sakè, Dashi. Touch of freshly ground Wasabi root adds an aromatically pungent counterpoint. 2) Chawan Mushi/egg custard soup: Complex construction. Silky, Dashi infused ultra soft, savory custard hides velvety sea scallops along with crunchy toasted rice. An Kakè (ah kah keh) Sauce Velouté that is also silky, velvet is poured on top. We opted for Truffe Noir de Périgord/French black truffle hand shaved over the Chawan Mushi for nutty, earthy, nubby textural effect. This may be Asakura's chef-d'oeuvre, signature dish. 3) Osetra Caviar comes out of a smoke box for a magical, dramatic effect performed by Chef Yoshida. The capelli d'angelo/angel hair wheat pasta is al dente in a soupçon of rich meaty Dashi. The Osetra is creamy, sweet, cherry wood smoked with a touch of sea saltiness. Another must get. 4) A5 Wagyū from Kyōto is a tenderloin cut with less fat and more plush beefiness in a Sauce demi-glace made with earthy, black garlic and beef bouillon on a bed of sweet parsnips purée. Coming down to earth, steamed rice, Miso soup, salt brined pickles round out and conclude the main meal. 1-4a) When I asked for a good bottle of Sakè (sah keh) to pair with the Omakasè, General Manager Ishiba suggested Hakurakusèi Tokubetsu Junmai class, Shinshu/new Sakè. Neutral bouquet, subtle taste of apples, subliminal bitterness, minerality. Finish was ephemeral as well to clear the palate without a strong, lingering echo. The Japanese term Jōhin comes to mind connoting well mannered, high class. 5) Coffee scented Blancmange which is a light pudding. Simple, refreshing dessert to end this well modulated, complex meal. The Omotènashi/Japanese style hospitality and sensibilities is very evident. Food here is right on target as to what Asakura aims to accomplish. Finely honed cuisine rooted in tradition yet napped by more modern concepts informed by diverse, international influences. Definitely a 5 star experience catering to discerning palates that appreciate nuanced, well thought out cuisine often clothed in sybaritic ingredients. Perhaps an Étoile is on the way. .
