This Costco seems intent on driving me away. The selection keeps getting smaller, some things only have one option, the Kirkland brand. Add to this, some things are now only offered as organic products, at a much higher price, even though I sincerely doubt the company changed any practices at all. They probably just had the FDA certify their existing operation and marked up products. That is a Costco wide issue, but it still bothers me. I grew up doing farm work on my grand parents orchard, and many farmers I knew were already being organic. Nobody cared in the 70s and 80s about that though. But I digress. Another thing that really bugs me is the way they package stuff if you ask for boxes. They usually cram the biggest items in first, quickly running out of room in the boxes. A lot of times these are things that are big enough to not need a box, and I specifically say when they ask that I want the smaller items boxed so they don't roll around in the back of my vehicle. I have even taken to trying to put things on the conveyor so the small stuff goes first in the hopes they will box it that way. What usually happens is that stuff gets set aside and the bigger things get boxed anyway. I ask for boxes to get stuff in and out of my car quickly and to keep stuff from rolling. These problems did not used to exist. They have mainly cropped up since Costco employees unionized a few years back. I would go elsewhere but the way my three sons eat, we really need to buy most of our foodstuffs from here. Maybe when they have moved out I will shop elsewhere. read more

Who doesn't love Costco?! The staff is always so friendly and helpful and happy to be there. Everything stays in the same spot for the most part so things are easy to find and the layout makes sense. The food there is also quite good and very reasonably priced. If you're looking for a good cheap lunch you should try it out! Side note - the hours posted say the doors open at 10am but they almost always open about 10-15 minutes before that. Right when it opens and right before closing are less busy times to go. If you're not a "crowds" person I would avoid all other times as it does get extremely busy during the day. read more

I got treated like a criminal today because I forgot my card in the checkout line- I understand there are policies but you do not have to belittle me in front of others and then ID me after already saying I can't buy the groceries. This place is pretty much like a sam's club, or the cousin of winco, or distant wealthy relative of URM. They've perfected their niche in my opinion. They offer different levels of membership with different perks and monthly rates. their bulk prices are the real deal. As one who shops weekly in URM and Costco I can tell you the things URM has that Costco has blows it out of the water as far as price, BUT Costco does not have a number of items that URM does. Additional thoughts: Sample food, hello! One of the highlights of every Costco, but please be a gentleman/lady when taking samples, be courteous to other shoppers and the workers behind those samples. There is sample eating etiquette to have when approaching those stations and kind consideration to be given to those employees. Staff is very helpful, they are always in a rush so most often than not one needs to be a extrovert and Flag them down as if you where in downtown NY calling a cab lol. If you can afford it then of course you'll come to Costco. If you can't I'm sorry. Don't hate the place or its members. read more

This review is of the cell phone sales manager who promotes the plans and equipment sold at this Costco. He was friendly and helpful in setting up our new plans and equipment but when Verizon didn't honor the deal we signed up for and was overcharging us by $65 every month, I visited the store to request his assistance but he wouldn't give me the time of day and was rude. Buyer beware. I've heard from others that they have had similar experiences. If you purchased a plan and equipment at this location and cannot get their assistance to fix the mess they promoted, my advice is to file an informal complaint with the FCC online. We wasted hours and hours dealing with Verizon and Costco but my issue was resolved immediately when we filed a complaint - and it took very little time to do so. The sales manager at Costco had our contact information and everything needed to resolve our problem but he refused to help. We won't be back. read more

I've decided after 25 years I won't be renewing my Costco card next year. Last two out of three visits employees were short with me and had no listening skills. There are too many COVID issues not being dealt with. No curb side pick up. No expansion of hours so the place is less packed. Serving samples. I am not opposed to a limit on toilet paper but I am opposed to a limit of one. Some of us travel Far to access Costco and only come a couple times a year to stock up. Not everyone lives down the block and can come anytime. Perhaps a tactic to get us back in the store again. I'll spend my money elsewhere. read more

I have been a long standing "Business Member" of Costco in California and have recently moved to Spokane WA. I have used Costco for the past 6 years to fill perscriptions'due to their lower cost. I called the Spokane Valley Costco today to ask questions about the pricing on some generic drugs. The man that answered the phone said he was the Pharmacy Manager. To begin with he was abrupt and sounded irritated about having to be on the phone at all. During the conversation became extremely aggressive and rude. When I questioned why there was a difference in cost between California and Washington, (WA) being more expensive, he became belligerent and was actually yelling. I am so stunned by this behavior, not to mention someone that works for Costco, that I have decided it's time to give it up. The bottom line is, I am a customer, a long standing customer, and know what it's like to run a business. This man would not last one day working for me. I am beyond disgusted with this experience, and needless to say, Costco's pharmacy will never have my business again. read more

Love Costco, just bought a beautiful blanket for winter and summer. It is made out of 100% silk which does not make you sweat in the summer and keeps you warm in the winter. Machine washable with cool water and dry on low heat. It was pretty costly I've never spent $250.00 on a blanket. I am rethinking this purchase. The pillows are $198.00 for 4 king size pillows. So, we love Costco. We joined in 1988, one of the few perks of moving from God's country in the mountains to the Big City. We buy a lot of stuff online and visit the local store several times each month. We spend an insane amount of money at Costco and feel like we're normally getting a good deal. We like the quality of Costco merchandise, and we trust their buyers to choose good stuff for us. We love their return policy, and appreciate the staff at the returns counter because they resist eye-rolling as we loyal Costco customers sometimes return items with weak or unbelievable stories about why we're returning the items. My frustration with My Costco on Sprague in the Spokane Valley is there are always long lines at the cash register, even when the store is relatively quiet, but this seems to only happen at My Costco. We've been to Costcos all over the country (and in Scotland too), and we've never seen check out lines consistently long like My Costco. I've had long stays at hotels next to Costcos in Herndon VA and Dallas (so I buy my food and wine at Costco during my stays), and I'm frequently at the Coeur d'Alene Costco, and the lines at these stores are normally minimal. All we can figure is My Costco management gets a bonus for having minimum staff on duty - and they must be getting rich if this is happening. And don't get me started on the self-pay feature at the food court. When it first began the self-pay customers got their food quickly because someone was assigned to handle us. Now the self-pay customers are standing around in groups waiting, and once in a while one of the food court employees steps over to the self-pay side of the counter and fills all the orders. Again, we figure management is getting big bonuses for having minimum staff at the food court. Finally, we are wary of any deli item prepared with their rotisserie chicken because we occasionally find chicken bones in the meat. We used to buy a lot of spinach wraps, enchiladas, street tacos, and other foods prepared with their rotisserie chicken, but we've found too many bones in these foods so we don't buy them anymore. We don't like to be surprised by small sharp bones when we're eating.... We still buy a lot of prepared foods from the deli - we just avoid the items with rotisserie chicken. read more

I like this Costco & have only had one negative experience. This had to do with tires I purchased from Costco online. I dropped them off to have mounted, but they never called me to say they were ready. I picked them up, made it about 1/3 of the way to Pullman and was looking for something in the back and noticed that they were not balanced. I called them and they said that though they charge for mounting and balancing, they do not actually balance tires without customers requesting this. I turned around to have them balance the tires. I inquired about this policy and the fact that they have disclaimer signs all over the area, but nothing regarding this policy. They just said that very few customers want radial trailer tires balanced. I was confused why most customers equate to all...I had them balanced and went away. Now for a positive experience: We purchased enough items to fill our hatchback, including 6 bottles of wine. I picked up a box of items & a $30 bottle of wine fell and shattered on the pavement. I took the large pieces inside and they told me just to get a new one...no paperwork, just OK to leave. I sincerely appreciate this. read more

Today, I shopped at Cosco. I spend a lot of money every time and because of that, I expect to receive great customer services. The store at Sprague lacks good customer skills, especially if the customer is non-white. For example, the checker asked me to get my card out to scan and, because I know the checkers are able to scan it by showing it in my transparent wallet, I told the checker the other checkers do not ask me to take it out. She answered she is not like the other checker. I responded she needed to get the same training. She then went on and on. I informed her the customer was always right hoping she would stop her ranting and not hold the line any longer. She snapped back by saying she could leave any time she wanted. I told her to go ahead. She walked away (Really, this was worse than child-like behavior). Soon after, another checker came and finished my transaction. By that time, the customer behind me was meddling in my business and speaking behind my back. I let it go, but this is a sign that racial abuse is accepted at Cosco and this behavior needs to stop. I spend money just like every one else that shops at Cosco and my money is accepted because it does not represent only one race but all races. Is it OK to accept the green but not the non-white? I don't think so. It is hypocritical for Cosco to stand for this type of behavior. Because of this, I went to talk to a supervisor and he said he would talk to her but he also tried to excuse her behavior. The checker's behavior is transparent with non-white people because her supervisor's excuses this type of behavior. Had I been a white person, I bet the checker would not have been so rude and disrespectful by leaving and making all of us wait. It is evident the checker is not capable of working with people of other cultures, as it was apparent she loves to argue. Finally, if she is to work with the public -- White or non-white, customer skills are a must and her supervisors are as much to blame, by not hiring competent people to work with the public. Honestly, Cosco needs to invest money by providing better training to their employees so customers go home happy after shopping. As for me, I won't be shopping at the Sprague Cosco store, where the checkers show more like child-like behavior. This store is truly a big disappointment. read more

First of all, this Costco actually has a Coffee Bean Roaster ON the premises. I've been to ~20 different Costcos. Honestly. And this is the only one that I have come across that actually roasts their beans daily, which I found the be absolutely fantastic. Typical Costco. Very clean, incredibly friendly staff at the Customer Service kiosk, and your typical all around good deal, for both merchandise, and gasoline. If I ever find myself in Spokane again, you'll probably find me here, admiring the coffee roasters and filling up on gasoline! read more

California Costco's has their food windows on the outside of the warehouse so that anyone can buy their wonderful hot dogs for $1.50 with soda. Just a few highlights to distinguish it from the Northside store (and they are indeed different probably due to clientele). 1) Never had chocolate chip bagels to my knowledge (although Northside did) 2) Seldom sells "whole" headless fish (although Northside does - and a better bargain) 3) When in season, very fresh halibut and cod.... because I've found live anisakis (parasitic nematodes) in them... look closely when you pickup your package, you'll see 'em. When you buy bottom-dwelling fish, worms are a fact of life. Just pick 'em out when you prep or when they start climbing out of the flesh as you're cooking. If you're squeamish, buy frozen (hence dead worms)... but then you'd be missing out on the benefits of living so "close" to the coast and getting fresh Pacific fish. I wish the local Costco's would do a better job handling their fresh ahi; Nobody wants to eat brown/old ahi raw or in poke, much less sear it. Such a waste of good fish; I'm sure they throw away tons of it. The one major plus the Valley store had over the Northside was the self-checkout, which is no longer existent. Cant complain about this location - it seems to have it all. I love visiting the spokane area - to see what more Costco offers in different areas. My locations often lacks and disappoints over many other i visit. My purchase was filet mignon a special treat the night before leaving. Top notch. Meat was excellent. Location is easy to find. Right off an interstate, gas pumps close and easy to get back on interstates upon leaving. read more

As with most Costco stores, you'll find the same prices and members-only offers you will at other Costco locations. This place is almost always hopping with people. I find it best to shop in the morning (right after they open) Mon - Thur because it tends be be just a bit less busy. I have little ones so a crowd can make shopping a bit challenging. :) The staff are personable and friendly. I recommend buying electronics from here because they offer better support than most stores do when something goes wrong. read more

I am slightly bummed that they got rid of the self checkout, but I was told that it was because a lot of stuff was getting stolen through that line. I love that when I walked in to Costco Optical they tried to help me switch my lens into a different frame because the frames on my glasses were broken and had duct tape. They found two frames and popped in the lens and it only costed $60 for one of the frames. It would've took months to schedule a appointment with my eye doctor up north. She was rude and short with us from the start and made us wait 3 hours (not exaggerating) only to tell us they didn't have the medication we needed.
