Went there for dinner and was not really happy with the service nor food. The cheese fries were ok but very salty. The chicken tortilla soup was also very salty and initially was forgotten by the waitress until I asked when we had our main courses. The big problem was the chicken, I got the grilled chicken and it was very undercooked had some pink spots to it. My fiancée had chicken on her salad and that chicken was also undercooked. I got a tad sick from it later that night as I ate some before noticing. In addition to forgetting the soup our waitress just walked by and dropped the check on the table without asking if we wanted dessert which we did. Had to put my card down and wait for it to be picked up as she rushed by and say hold up a minute. The cobbler was awesome as usual and got the second star for CPC. Decent place to grab a salad at lunch. They served us quick and our salads were very cold and fresh. It would be nice if they had an actual lunch portion for the salads, though. They were listed on the lunch menu but were the same price as the dinner menu. (8.99) A little steep for a lunch salad but it tasted good. I like that the chicken breast on the salad was cold...no wilted lettuce! I will probably not rush back for lunch...I like to eat light and the salad price was a little steep. It was lunchtime and I was waiting for a prescription to be filled nearby. I didn't feel like going home and coming back out, so I pondered where to get a quick bite for lunch. If you're familiar with this part of town, then you know it's 'slim pickins' for decent places to eat. I'd only been to Cotton Patch once maybe five or six years ago and remembered it being OK, so I decided to try it again. In a nutshell, I was pleasantly surprised. I opted for a grilled chicken and avocado sandwich that was pretty good. The fries that came with it seemed like your standard frozen fries, but were cooked well and came out hot. The iced tea tasted like iced tea (not water) which a lot of places can't seem to get right. My server was friendly and efficient. The food came out pretty fast and was hot. The décor is fairly country-kitschy, but not awful. All-in-all, I have no complaints about my visit. Also, it seems like they've changed their menu since I was here last (after 5+ years, one would hope so!). Of course they've still got all the fried offerings you could want, but there seemed to be more grilled things and salads to choose from. Came in for a dinner, we started off with the fried mushrooms as an appetizer. Our waitress Mary help make up my mind I could not decide between the chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken and I surprisingly chose the chicken fried steak. LOL THANKS FOR PICKING! My mom ordered the strawberry pecan salad. There ended up being a shell in the salad and she cracked her crown. The next day she came back to the restaurant because the whole crown fell out. She told the manager and asked for money to fix her tooth. The manager was EXTREMELY rude and brought out the bag of nuts saying that there are no shells in the bag so it's impossible that cracker her tooth here (basically saying my mom is a liar). This was a nice night out with hubby! When you come, try the chicken pot pie it was sooo tasty! Also they have chicken fried bacon strips yes I said bacon strips that are fried and they have a maple chipotle sauce yummy! Our waiter, William G, he was on the ball! The food (entree) was good and I would give this place 4 stars if it weren't for a few little things. 1st off- my salad. Got a side Caesar salad which was worth 1 star. The lettuce was incredibly wet and there was hardly any dressing on it. Bread was good and they have cornbread now although they weren't warm or hot when we got them. My sandwich was delicious! The only negative (and it was the same with my friends sandwich as well) is that the chicken only covered about half of the bun. The fries were soggy,not crisp and weren't hot. For a sit down restaurant my group was in & out quickly. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and quick. We didn't have to wait more then 20 minutes for main course. I typically do not comment on a bad experience but felt compelled to send an alert to all. My family and are frequent customers of this restaurant and recently dined. I ordered a pecan summer salad and I initially thought I had chipped a back molar from a shell fragment. I did not attempt to stick my hands in my mouth to assess. I thought it was chipped but was going to just take care of it myself. I realized when I arrived home that it was worse. I advised management after a dentist evaluated it. The dentist recommended that I provide the bill to Cotton Patch for coverage. Cotton Patch declined to support and was exceptionally rude and obnoxious. I was shocked at the treatment. I now have to sue for damages, if I want what is right. read more

Typically Cotton Patch is a good bet when you're hungry, but the last several times I have been (including pre-COVID) this has not been the case. Online ordering rarely works but when it does, employees ignore customers when they come to pick up the food. Quite literally employees just stare at you instead of doing their job and helping. My wife & I came to visit family of ours, we're from SD, Ca. I'm on dialysis, after dialysis today Wednesday my wife took me to a place call Cotton Patch Cafe', their brand-new, so we tried them. I ordered a chicken fried chicken lunch with baked squash and garlic mashed potatoes, my wife ordered the lunch combo pick 2 & ordered chicken dumpling soup with a strawberry pecan salad. Gladys ordered Linda a strawberry pecan salad with half a Turkey sandwich & I ordered Walt a dinner chicken fried steak with whole kernel corn and garlic mashed potatoes, so yes dinner is bigger portions I will order one next time. I will begin by saying that we have been regular, weekly customers for the past 10 years. Additionally I have owned and operated restaurants as a career and I understand the challenges and rewards of serving a consistent, quality product. It is not an easy task, and not everyone succeed. We normally dine with you on Thursday evenings. You have a long term front door employee, Christina (?) that is a true champion. She is always so accommodating and helpful, but our recent challenges are beyond her capabilities to correct. Over the course of the last three visits to your restaurant, we have experienced long waits for our food (over 45 minutes), lack of refilled beverages, cold food and generally very poor table service. Your restaurant is dirty, tables go uncleaned for way too long. There is a severe lack of management on the floor, the inmates are running the asylum. You need to have a manager running the door to control the flow of incoming business. the door is where you make your mark with great service. We chose to eat with you on this past Sunday, after church. We decided to give you a shot since the Cowboy game was on and we figured it would be slow. Upon arrival we were greeted by a young man - no smile, no greeting, blank look and in a black windbreaker zipped up to his neck. Interesting look. There were plenty of empty tables; some clean some dirty. My wife requested a booth and we were told to wait for a clean booth. After waiting 5 minutes, as the only waiting party, the host cruised over to the booth to clean it himself. Good job!! We were then greeted by our server in good time. We ordered beverages and rolls. when he returned we placed the order and asked for lemons for the tea that were forgotten. He later passed us twice without lemons so I decided to get up and ask another server for lemons. Meal delivered, the mashed potatoes were a clod glob of potato chunks. Sent them back and they reappeared at the very end of the meal. Good job!! Our beverages were never re-filled, Good job!! Dirty plates were never removed. Once we got refills I immediately asked for the check. Paid promptly and left. We agreed on the ride home that that was our very last visit. We will not be back, EVER. It's such a shame that it comes to this as I/we have been willing to always give it another chance. But enough, is enough. My advice - get a manager that understands that EVERYTHING begins and ends (operationally speaking) at the front door. Get out of the office, stay away from the kitchen, get off your cell phone, and MANAGE the business from the front door. read more

We have been fans of Cotton Patch for years (both Davis and Watauga locations). My kids especially love this place and order the same thing every time! We were at the Davis location for dinner with out of town relatives at the end of June and the entire experience was a disaster. So many things went wrong that I almost thought we were on an episode of "What Would You do?" Cold food, burnt food, long wait times, orders and drinks wrong, and one order looked like it came from the leftovers at another table! Was told after 45 minutes that my son should order something else other than grilled cheese since they ran out of bread! Wow! The other reviews from June are absolutely true! Let me start by saying WOW, just WOW!!! Worst service by Brian T I have ever had. Slow for food, slow for all service, disappears when asked for anything, including Water, for like 10 min. Food was cold and took forever to get. Other servers were racing around while Brian looked like he was lost. When you pay 50+ for a meal you don't expect such poor service. He even reached over 4 people to serve a lukewarm plate of meatloaf. I was sitting on the end of the table, just did not pay attention to anything. Food okay (one star is for service) but service was absolute disaster. Root cause of service failure was that the waiter knew the couple sitting near us. No time to pay any attention to details due to visiting with friends. I ordered the steakfinger basket. My grandson ordered chicken fingers on kid's .plate. The two orders came backwards....kid's plate with steakfingers and my basket was chicken. When I pointed out that I ordered the steakfinger basket (not chicken) his response was "Let me see if we can do anything about it". Incredible! They finally found a way to turn that rubbery chicken into steak (must be magic??), Other mistakes as well.....refilled our Sprite with water, etc. The restaurant wasn't that busy. Our waiter just had our table and his friend's table active. Just too busy talking. Everything was just s l o w, I will give this restaurant one more try in a few months as it has been good in the past and I understand that occasionally things just go south. read more

3 stars for the food, ZERO for service. My husband and I went to Cotton Patch for a very early dinner on a Sunday afternoon. The place was only about 25% full of customers, but overflowing with staff. That fact causes extra confusion as to why our service was so poor. It was a case of all my pet peeves colliding at once to create a quite annoying dining experience. We waited a long time for our drinks, my husband had to ask for his tea to be refilled, took a long time to get the bill, it was just really annoying. The food was fine. We eat at Cotton Patch about once every 2 or 3 months and it's always the same. I like the fact they have a "Right Size Portions" option, so I can have Chicken Fried Steak that is a normal size, rather than their standard which is just too much. As for the CFS, it's typically thinly pounded steak with a substantial amount of fried batter. The mashed potatoes are kinda chunky red potatoes with some of the skin still on, not my preference, but whatever. I always get fried okra; it seems to be cooked to order (from frozen food service bags) and is hot and crispy. They usually bring rolls and cornbread to the table, we didn't get cornbread this time. I didn't complain, it is a little on the sweet side and I don't care for it. read more

At one time this location had good food and good service. However, it has changed dramatically in the last 60 days. New management, slow wait staff, GM that is not present on weekends, no hostess present, cook delivered tepid steak and sides. Our drinks were NOT refilled, and only one cube of ice in water. (I guess we should have been thankful, we had water on our table.) Others did not! We had to wait ONE HOUR for our food, and there were empty un-bussed tables all around us. We had $45 tab that could have been spent elsewhere where our patronage is appreciated. We watched a family of 6 leave without their meal out of frustration. We also watched people leaving from front entry when they were not greeted or seated timely (plenty of empty tables) . What gives Cotton Patch?? It's a mistake that the better wait staff is gone and the former manager. Oh, and you have one very young waiter that has lead in his feet, yawning as he saudered about uninterested. We heard the remarks from one of his tables, as we were sitting nearby. The guy needs to locate a position where he can sleep on the job because it seemed like that was his interest. Food and Restaurant is clearly not his calling. He could have cared less. He walked past un-bussed tables like they didn't exist, and unseated customers as well. This is a newly remodeled location, but without proper staff this location will fail dramatically. I give it less than 6 months if Cotton Patch Corporate doesn't get a handle on the situation and make some big changes quickly! Their General Manager apparently doesn't work weekends, and apparently was uninterested in the success of this location. We won't be back until all of the above have been corrected.
