    Unscrewed bolts holding chair together
    Brad L.

Most uncomfortable chairs anywhere!!! Changed menu to look cheaper but actually most are same price as they eliminated say the standard grilled chicken from their Big Ol Cobb Salad $9.99 plus $3 grilled chicken still equals $12.99 same as always. Why not just actually go down on prices rather than fake it? Also, sometimes we can sit at a booth with a high chair and other times we are stuck in these crap-tastic hard wooden chairs. Bring in a group and they cram everyone together where no one on the back row can move or get out. Service is normally pretty good except on Sunday when it takes double time to get food. Oh and high chairs are still broken and in bad condition- nothing has changed in two years! Food today was off in flavor- chicken fried steak breading was bitter tasting like too much baking soda or old oil. The salad I had - the avocado had turned, the tomatoes were very sour, and the ranch tasted off -- it's a meal I get almost every visit and is normally pretty good. The rolls were smaller than normal and not as tasty, and what happened to the TV's? Why all the changes? Why take so much off your menu?

First visit to to a Cotton Patch since I gave 4 star pleasantries for the Brownwood, Texas location. So, maybe I've come to my senses. Down one star for this location in Stephenville, TX. Go for the bread; totally worth it. Two bucks for the skillet cornbread smothered in honey and a dollop of butter. Got to sample the tiny loaf shaped rolls that I missed on my last visit. Friggin' delicious! The wheels came off the wagon after that. My turkey club suffered in several ways. First off, there shouldn't be black spots (rotten spot) on the avocado. It was also about two more days from being totally ripe. Bacon was cooked on a solar panel attached to the International Space Station and returned to earth in a pine box..it should have been buried. The tortilla soup (referencing our previous visit) suffered from mushy vegetables. Additionally, the chili powder was almost double versus the previous bowl. GF only had a few spoons and switched to the onion rings and 1/4 of my sandwich. Service was attentive and friendly. Might just come back to eat bread

The food is awesome, our server was so helpful and kind. Loved the feel of the restaurant. High energy but not so crazy you can't enjoy a conversation.

First time coming here. I asked for a recommendation. The waiters was on point. The chicken fried steak was amazing. It's been a long time since I've had a really long time. It's was like home cooked. The gravy was creamy delicious. It could have used a tad more gravy but other then that no complaints. The bread rolls were pillow and super delicious. The jalapeño corn with honey butter is an awesome a definite must order.

Ordered chicken and dumplings and a grilled chicken sandwich to go. The food was okay however, I quickly regretted finishing my meal after going in to eat the rolls.

We walked in and over to a booth... the table appeared clean but the seats had food left in them for ... well I'm not sure how long. Moved to another booth that the guy way "wiping down" with a wet dirty rag and no cleaner. Yes, I am aware that some restaurants soak towels for this purpose, but I promise this was not the case. He did not wipe down the seats, but the food on the seat was to my right and there really was no other option, since all the chairs at the tables had hand prints on the top of the chairs and black dirt on the legs of the chairs. I informed the waitress that she might want to remind her bus boy that he should wipe down the seats. She apologized and I hope she passed on the information. While sitting there, I became more uncomfortable. Food on the walls. Air vents were black, like the AC filter has never been changed. I observed people behind the counter on an "ice rink of grease" sliding all around. The floors in the restaurant haven't been cleaned in days. It was 10 am, no way could they look like that from just a few hours. The grill has not been cleaned in well, it's been a while.... See photos, the aluminum wall guard was swiped at. But the controls on the grill were just nasty Waitresses were eating and drinking behind the counter, in front of customers. I didn't get to the restrooms, but if they are anything like the rest of the restaurant..... Coffee was as far as I wanted to go here. But my mom wanted to eat. So we ordered a burger and a steak sandwich. 40.00 plus tip. Food was subpar. Does were cold. Burger was not great. Mom liked her steak sandwich. Would I recommend this place. Absolutely NOT. We will not be going back. A giant waste of money.

The menu leans heavily toward comfort food classics like meatloaf, lasagna, and shepherds pie, but lighter options like a chicken ceasar salad were also available. The desserts were definitely the highlight of our meal. Like the other menu items, the dessert portions are HUGE. My daughter and I split a piece of coconut cream pie, and we still didn't finish it. An amazing view, rustic atmosphere, and wonderful service rounded out the experience. If you're passing through the area, don't miss this place! I can't figure out why it wasn't packed to the gills.

We got the meatloaf, king ranch chicken, two teas and one desert and it cost us $54. And for that price we got served on flimsy paper plates with plastic forks. The food was less than average. DELICIOUS! I actually heard about this place from a Reddit post about places to stop on a road trip…read moreacross Texas and I'm so glad I listened! It's home cooked food, calories-not-monitored, but worth every single bite. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but I knew it was going to be good when we saw the parking lot was overflowing into the grass. Luckily there was still an open table inside and we were welcomed by the sweetest staff and our waitress was just as wonderful. So many things looked good on the menu, but I couldn't resist ending this road trip with another taste of chicken fried steak to compare to Mary's (and they can definitely compete because it was AWESOME)! We also tried the chicken fried chicken (delicious), sweet potato casserole (amazing), Mae's potato casserole (tasty), cheese sticks (good), and the hamburger and fries which was obviously delicious enough that my picky daughter almost finished it - which says a LOT! We were very glad that we'd ordered the "smaller portions" for lunch because it meant we could grab a few of the desserts to go to snack on for our final leg of the road trip and keep enjoying at home. We tried the toffee cake (incredible), peanut butter cake (sinfully good), and the coconut pie (very light and creamy)! We also snagged some items to take home with us from their coolers and I can 100% recommend their pork tamales and summer sausage. If you get the chance to stop here, you won't regret it at all! Delicious, great service, and good portions!

The place is just an old diner in the town of Strawn. We showed up at 1130. They had nice crowd no wait. Sit down and order. We got a small and a medium chicken fried steak. For the sides fries and mash potatoes with a small salad each. The small steak is prefect size for me. But if you are hungry go for medium or the large. The chicken fried steak is made a little different than most. Not the usual type of breading. We really enjoyed the meal all was very good. The steak was tender and great flavor. I'm really surprised at how many four and five stars there are. Almost nothing we got had flavor: Queso - literally just cheese with nothing added - no salsa, no jalapeños, no onion - nothing. If you put queso on the menu, I think people expect it to have more than literally melted cheese. Chicken Fried Steak - loved that the breaded parts stuck to the meat and was excited to eat, but again, literally no flavor. We didn't finish it and we didn't take the leftovers. Mashed potatoes - No flavor AGAIN. We were so surprised and disappointed. You can see everyone there busting their tails though. Those women deserve every penny of every tip left for them.
