I have not been to this restaurant for many years. The menu selection has been reduced and the food was good, typical of chain restaurants. Nothing special. THE RATING IS STRICTLY for the service we received. What impressed us today was the young lady who served us. When we entered the restaurant there was no wait and we were seated promptly. In looking at the wait staff I was worried by their expressions that this was not going to be a good experience. One smiling face greeted us and we got her as our waitress. Trinity was exceptional, she was very patient and informative, helping us select the right food for the five of us. She was over the top attentive and could not have been more pleasant. It was a true joy to eat at this restaurant. Trinity, your a jewel! You deserve a FIVE STAR. Keep up your superb service and attitude, it is rare in todays world. We salute you. read more

I was driving through Waxahachie on Hwy 77 and hit a terrible traffic jam near the restaurant (obviously not their fault). Rather than get frustrated, I pulled in for lunch. Had a great server who knew how to anticipate what a customer needs. I didn't have to ask for anything because she already had it taken care of. I ordered chicken fried steak because it's one of the only things I won't cook at home. You gotta love chicken fried steak. I remember taking a business associate from New York City out to lunch in Dallas. I told him that he needed to try the chicken fried steak. He was so confused, he asked, "Well, what is it? My parents eat here frequently and they tried to warn me about the Arctic blast that is the air conditioner there, but they are elderly and I thought they were exaggerating. They weren't. Despite the fact it was an unseasonable 72 degrees outside, the inside of the restaurant felt much more like 62 degrees. There are air vents abundantly placed all over the ceiling and the ratio to the size of the establishment seems pretty off. So, no mater where you sit you will always feel the actual air from the fan blowing on you from those ducts, so you can easily tell if the air is blowing or not Why am I mentioning this? We asked to have the cold air turned down. Twice. The first time the young server told us "yeah, people have been complaining about it all day." Then when asked the second time some 15 minutes later she just chuckled. When our food came out, it was served by the manager. "Please, please can you turn the air down in here, it's sooo cold." My mother implored her. My mother was assured it would get handled, but guess what? It did not. And I know it did not because the aforementioned fan never shut off even once in the hour we were there. At this point the staff was either willful or the damn thing was broken and would not stop blowing air. Everyone seated was as bundled up as they could manage. At one point a poor elderly woman who had difficulty walking shuffled to her car and came back wearing her coat. I was envious. I sure wish I had brought mine. And yeah, I get it I get it- old people are almost always cold. But I am not old and am almost always hot, and this place was even too damn cold for me. The food was actually pretty good! Fresh, well-seasoned and nice and hot. But we had to eat quickly before it got (you guessed it) cold. As we were leaving, the waitress wished us a "blessed day." The iced tea was super weak but was replaced with a marginally stronger brew. One plate of Chicken Fried Steak came sitting in something dark brown in contrast to the cream gravy on top, so was sent back to try again. The other order of chicken fried steak was ok, but the 2 sides were cold inside and out, not edible. The replaced chicken fried steak came sitting in a pool of the grease it was cooked in---not drained off, so we left. It was such a horrible experience, but this place is no longer on the list to recommend or give another chance. The quality of micro-waved sides and inability to serve a meal that's served hot, flavorful, and worth the wait is not part of their set up. read more

First bad meal ever at a Cotton Patch. Where do I start? Rolls were worth the trip in the past but waitress said they changed the process. Rolls were small, undercooked, and barely edible. They were out of straws, blue cheese dressing, and bacon bits. Baked potato was cold and tasted like yesterday's as did the small chicken fried steak. I am not a picky eater but this was awful. The waitress was sweet and it wasn't her fault so I tipped appropriately. Got out of there for around $50 for two including tip and need to go home and find something to eat. read more

Very slow service after waiting for over 20 minutes at the host stand and never being acknowledged. Made eye contact with several staff members only for the time turn and walk the other way. After we were seated we were told that it would be 15-20 minutes until they could take our order because the kitchen was so backed up they were not accepting orders. Really good food and quick service. We didn't have to wait long for the fried pickles which came super crispy and when when we drove an hour + they were still crispy so that's saying something. Ordered a lemonade and a soda for the wife but the drinks looked really good. It was kinda humid outside so the inside was nice and cool. Our food came right out and tasted delicious. I ordered to go for my wife and myself, she got the light grilled chicken, served on a bed of rice and steamed veggies with a side baked potato. I ordered the meatloaf, with broccoli rice casserole and sweet potato fries. First, her grilled chicken on a bed of rice and veggies.. there were no veggies. She was given rice and chicken. Her baked potato? Thrown in the box with the chicken and the fillings? All in one cup, not separated. Already shaken and mixed before handed to me. Fantastic start. My order, meatloaf looks fine, sauce looks good. My rice casserole looks like it was scooped out with an ice cream scoop and looks unpleasant. The fries look fine. I also ordered a root beer and half n' half tea, they tried to give me a root beer and water. My wife ordered this specifically for the veggies, and she was given no veggies. Tonight I experienced the worst customer service from their manager Zack. I was an Uber eats delivery driver came to pick up an order that said would be ready by 7:20. I walk in and check in with them at the register and they're not able to find my order and then they say that the order went out at six, which makes me believe they gave it to wrong person because they had another order for someone with same name. after getting in touch with the customer that hasn't gotten their food the manager writes down the order and takes it to the back and I'm under the impression he's fixing what they messed up on. 30 minutes ago and I walked back up to the register and he says were you able to tell the customer because I can't get this food out to you because it was picked up. We have eaten at other Cotton Patch Cafes in the passing and found the food just okay, but this location in Waxahachie was GREAT!! Not only was the food delicious, but Whitney R. gave us the best service that we have had at any restaurant in a very long time. Our food was exactly how we ordered it, our drinks were never empty, and she had such a great attitude!! We live in Irving (30 miles away) and there are at least 10 Cotton Patch locations closer, but we would gladly make the drive again and again for that kind of experience!! read more

First let me say that I only gave it 2 stars because our waitress, Savannah, was outstanding. Without her they would be in the negative. We went there on a Friday night with a party of 9. We sat for 15 mins before even being acknowledged! Finally one of the many waitresses came to the front just as another group walked in. She completely ignored us and asked to help them. They are the ones that insisted she help us. Over half the restaurant was empty and she told us she would have to ask her Manager before seating us. She then proceeded to seat 5 more groups before us. When we finally got seated everything got better. Good things don't last do they?? 3 of our group ordered the chicken and dumplings. 15 minutes later they were told that there were no chicken and dumplings. The potato soup was recommended. 2 of them opted for the potato soup only to be told 10 minutes later that there was no soup. Needless to say everyone got their meals at different times except 3 never got their food!! When it did come we had it put into to-go boxes because we fed them off our plates! This is a great restaurant in Waxahachie. While waiting for your food enjoy complimentary cornbread and rolls w butter. The portions are large and very filling and the prices are great! All meals are definitely under $20. My favorite is the tilapia that comes with shrimp and crawfish sauce on a bed of rice. You also get 2 sides with that meal and most other meals. My last visit, I had the catfish that came with fries, jalapeño hush puppies and TWO additional sides. I definitely had to take a Togo box Bc it was so much food.
