Sesame bagel with cashew spread

We came on a Monday slightly before closing and the line was still pretty long. The wait time was not that bad and luckily a table cleared up for us but it was still quite busy. I have to say that the bagel itself was personally one of my favorite bagels. It isn't very doughy but rather thin and crispy. The sesame bagel was really good. Perfectly crispy texture which paired really well with the cashew spread which was very mildly flavored and had such a creamy texture. The hand sliced salmon bagel did not live up to its expectations in my opinion. It wasn't unique, it lacked some acidity to it, the salmon was not particularly good and the overall flavor didn't quite come together. Other less hyped up places have a much better take on this simple bagel. The tomato was also not properly salted. The seasoning could have helped but there was very little of it. I would also avoid getting the everything burnt bagel just because there is no acidity to this dish so the Burt flavor is just extra saltiness. The simply perfect or simply something bagel was similar to this. I would also avoid the everything burnt bagel for that one. I would come again for a plain bagel and maybe try another spread but the salmon bagels are just not really worth it, especially since they are not cheap either. I do appreciate you can only get half a bagel. The place itself is quite nice and the service is efficient. They have some tables and chairs outside and the food comes out at a smooth rate.

Went on a Friday at 12pm and there was a super short line (~5 min). As others have mentioned there is very limited outdoor stool seating. Took about ~15 min to actually get our bagels once we ordered. But worth every second!!!! These are sooo crunchy yet soft on the inside, packed with fresh toppings and incredible flavor. The smear is good (though they could add a bit more). Really, really good. 10/10. They are pricey

It was Bieberchella weekend so I took advantage of that and came to Courage Bagels in hopes of a shorter line. I came around 10 AM on a Sunday and waited about 10 minutes to order and another 10 for food, which is not bad! I had the "Kevin" which is on a secret menu that isn't posted. It consisted of salmon, roe, and dill. The taste was delicious and very filling, but expensive ($30). It was good to just try it though! Tricky parking & limited outdoor seating only.

Hope it's good!

Their bagels and toppings are high quality and superior taste. I've reviewed Courage several times. My opinions about their food and their iced cappuccino remain the same. Get in line. Order. Pay. Wait for your name to be called. Grab a tiny table and stool, if possible. If not, enjoy in your car, or at home. The ambiance is not why you go. Parking is difficult. Staff can be a bit curt. Not always, but sometimes. The food keeps us coming back.

Had to stop to try one of their bagel and was not disappointed. It definitely was not a cheap one but so worth it. You order at a window and they bring it out when it is ready. They have some tables and stools set up outside for you to enjoy your quick bite.

Super cute and trendy bagel spot in Silverlake. The parking situation was a little bit difficult, and we ended up parking along the street near the LACC Parking Lot, around an eight minute walk from the shop. There was a pretty long line of around 10-12 people, but a worker came down the line and took our orders on paper to make the process move faster. The storefront is relatively small, with no indoor seating but several small tables and benches for outdoor dining. They do have a restroom inside with some merch to purchase, but there's no photos allowed inside. We were able to find a seat around five minutes after ordering, and sat at the table waiting for around 20 minutes to receive our bagels. We ordered 3 halves to try as many different flavors as we could. We ordered the cream cheese with tomato on the burnt everything, salmon on the sesame bagel, and the run it through the garden on the onion bagel. The worker was super nice in recommending flavors and corresponding bagel pairings since it was our first time here. They also had several exclusive bagels, like a cheese one and a sweet option with almond butter that looked really good. My only complaint is that it is quite pricey, especially for the amount of food you got. Our total ended up being around $33 for the 3 halves of the bagel we got. The bagels themselves were very good. Our favorite was the cream cheese with tomato - the burnt everything complimented the flavors really well and added a satisfying crunch, and the tomatoes and cream cheese had contrasting acidity and freshness that balanced amazingly. The salmon bagel was a classic as well - they definitely load up each bagel with a lot of dill and capers which we weren't really a fan of. The run it through the garden was more on the messy side, with almost too many components. Again, a lot of dill and capers, and the cucumbers and tomatoes lost some of their freshness when mixing with the cream cheese and warm bagel. That one was not our favorite but it still has unique components and tastes. Overall, I'd recommend this shop. They have super unique bagel flavors, which are definitely very Instagram worthy. The weather was nice when we visited so it was perfect for the outdoor seating. Worth a try!

I'm not gonna lie... I'm a huge star fu#%er... So what better way to stalk a celebrity than to stop at Courage Bagels... I'm a HUGE bagelieber!!! Though... HUGE BAGELIEBER...!!! Although I only came with my humble tin drum; this poor boy went halfsie's on the salmon lox and ikura (salmon roe) bagel; which will still set you back about $30 for ONE bagel sandwich... Ouch!! I feel the pin prick of a sea urchin...!! Hey ! That gives me another idea... maybe they SHOULD try doing an UNI BAGEL... full of sea urchin... IM down...!! waaaaay down... downtown Chinatown DOWN!!! bottom of the sea down!!? Waaaaaay WAAAAY down !!! À la OFFICE SPACE DOWN!!!... Well... we should let the chefs at Courage Bagel decide whether THAT is a GOOD idea! You're welcome...!! COURAGE!! Then I grabbed some vanilla bean latte action... not bad... !!! $8.00 Just wish the sun wasn't glaring down on my lamb skin pale innocent face and hairy arms... I think I'm gonna spontaneously combust... if somebody doesn't bring me a cute little white umbrella first... thank you !!! ...They actually did!!! My forearm hairs starting to crimson probably gave me away... which brings me to another thing you gotta try... the burnt bagel!!! Don't blame it on the sun!!! They actually make a burnt bagel... ILL BE BACK said somebody with a thick Austrian accent..!! The drink came out QUICK..!!! I mean REALLY quick!! ...then I waited a little for the BAGEL... You can Be a BAGELIEBER too... Who needs Justin... rn NOM NOM NOM... Eat your ROE OUT JUSTIN!!!

There's always been a long line every time I've visited, but once you try their bagels, it's easy to understand why that's the case. The bagel itself acts more like a vehicle for the toppings, which allow the all the flavors to really shine through. My personal favorite is the white fish bagel, but honestly they don't miss with any of their menu items. Seating is out door and first come serve, so takes a bit of patience to snag a table since they're always so busy.

run it through the garden and smoked salmon
Keilab A.

Courage is worth all the hype. I've never had a bagel like this before- crunchy yet soft? It was incredibly delicious. I came on a Friday morning and there was no line, just a bunch of people waiting or eating. Be prepared to wait 15+ minutes for your order. They definitely take the time to perfect each bagel so the wait is well worth your time. I ordered two half bagels: run it through the garden and the smoked salmon. Both bagels were yummy, but I would definitely get the smoked salmon again. They have a good amount of seating outside and one thing to mention is that parking is absolutely terrible here; you have to cross your fingers to find a spot on one of the side streets, so plan accordingly. Overall, I would 100% be returning.

We came on a Saturday around noon and the line really wasn't bad at all. I was expecting way worse. You order at the window, super easy. There's no indoor seating, just some tables off to the side. I can already tell it probably gets pretty warm out there in the summer. I ordered the Hottie, it comes with butter, and I added honey on a sesame bagel. When I tell you it was so good... fresh out of the oven, warm, soft, perfect. If I had even a little more room left, I'd be back in line for another one. But I'm officially full. My friend got a fully loaded bagel, I believe it's called Run it to the Garden, she loved it but she wanted a little more olive oil. Any time I'm close, I want to be sure I stop by.

Joanna C.

Almost turned around cuz of the line but honestly it went super fast and it was worth it. I got the Salmon Roe half and a half Smoked Salmon bagel and omg I get the hype. The Salmon roe was my favorite, the bagel had the perfect amount of crunch which added texture to soft ingredients. It was just the perfect amount of salty and creamy with the roe and cream cheese. The smoked salmon was delicious too, although the roe did steal the show for me. I also got a vanilla paste latte and the limeade but the drinks were not my favorite. The limeade was too bitter and although there was a lot of vanilla In the latte, it didn't really come through. But the bagels were so good I'm still going to give it 5 star. This place also has a nice vibe. Plenty of outdoor seating.

Finally got a chance to try the famous Courage Bagels! Stopped by on a Monday morning and there was a short line which moved quickly. You order at the window and they'll call your name when your order is ready. You can buy the bagels whole or half. I got the hand sliced smoked salmon with burnt everything (everything bagel that's slightly more toasted) and it was sooo delicious - it perfectly hit the spot. The bagel was perfectly chewy with the perfect crunch on the outside, and the salmon was thin and delightful. Everything about it was just so well balanced. They have small tables and chairs with umbrellas outside for seating. Street/neighborhood parking only. Will certainly find myself back soon!

Does a whole bagel come as two open-faced halves? In other words, if two people want to try half each of two kinds of bagels can we order two wholes and share or do we need to order four halves?

Yes. Bagel sandwiches are open faced

Do they make or sell gluten-free bagels?

Not that I have seen and I was there less than a month ago. I would love it if they did though.

Anyone know the nearest accessible restroom?

Sqirl a few stores down has one

Is there a long line at 7 AM on weekdays?

No line at 7:30 or 8 when I've stopped by. About 20 min wait for your food.

How much are half dozen? And how much are dozen bagels? Is there a set price? Or does it differ? Can cream cheese he purchased ? Or is it better to get the cream cheese at a store?

Maybe this will help Hane- https://couragebagels.com/new-page And, look at the bottom right-hand side of the menu. 2 loose bagels per customer!!

Can you buy a dozen bagels?

Yes

Is there a limit on how many sandwiches someone can order? I'm willing to stand in line EARLY to bring home breakfast for my family - but don't want to get there to find out it's 1 per person!

I've never got the vibe that there was a limit, but things do sell out (specific bagels, etc)...

Do they have the roe bagel? They said it was out of season when I went a few months ago...thanks!

Yup. It's back. Check out their Instagram. https://www.instagram.com/courage_bagels/p/CUQn114vplz/?utm_medium=copy_link

Any vegan creamcheese?

Yes! They have one!

Any gluten free options?

Just the beverages.

Is there a time when it is less busy on the weekend?

Probably better to line up in the morning, though everyone orders more then so it goes slower. 730am Sat was 10+ deep.

By what time do they sell out on sunday?

That's a difficult question to answer. Depends on the crowds.

Any vegan options?

They have a vegan cream cheese option.

Waiting for me. Waiting for us to get lunch at Belle's. Life was good. But what's even better than good? Great. Life was about to be great. 2. On the way in I saw a strange man outside wearing sunglasses. He looked at me. Friend or foe? I ran through a list of my options. Run. Stand my ground. Kiss. But then I realized I recognized him. This wasn't a stranger. This was a friend. 3. "Hey," I said. "Hey," he said back at me. Casey. We knew each other. I mentioned I was about to dine at Belle's and he immediately complimented the establishment. "Do you know who Harry Mack is?" I told him I didn't. "He's a freestyle rapper on tiktok. I saw him eating here once. I told him I like his videos when we were both in the bathroom." In the bathroom? Or in the line for the bathroom? I didn't follow up with any questions and left the conversation bewildered. 4. I sat down inside, waiting for Jess & Kora. We had eaten here together many times and this excited me. Nothing quite like eating lunch with your friends. The only thing better would be if you were getting massages from beautiful men and women. The thought brought a smile to my face. The kind of smile that hurts your cheeks so much that you wish pain was only temporary. 5. Jess showed up. Shortly after Kora did as well. The boys were back at it again. I looked around. I could tell everybody was aware of who we were and what we were doing. I even caught a stray look from a table of three men that was tinged with a tear. Jealous of the friendship we so effortlessly commanded. It was as if we were massaging each other's minds with our words. This is the kind of experience one can expect while in the presence of Zed C. from Yelp. The kind of experience you read online and think is fake but is actually realer than reality. The kind of experience that can only be contained with two slices of bagel. 6. From the jump, we were talking Area 51. The laughs were as plentiful as the refills on our cups of coffee (frequent!) Photos of people, of bagels, of everything that wasn't... us. There wasn't a photo on the wall of us. Zed C. from Yelp and Jess & Kora. I don't believe in divine justice, but we do what we can to form some level of fairness in a galaxy bent on chaos. Entropy consumes us all but... if Belle's could put a photograph of the three of us on their wall... maybe hope isn't just a false promise of what's to come. Maybe life could exceed great and become... excellent. The same tear I saw in the stranger's eye populated Jess' eye. Kora's eye. & mine as well. We shut our eyes and pretended that this moment never happened. The boys were back at it once again! 7. Our food arrived. I had ordered the ECA, the egg, cheese and avocado mash bagel. Everything. At home I only get plain because the seeds go everywhere making my kitchen into a literal hellscape. Here at Belle's? I indulge myself. So what if a seed doesn't land on the plate. They'll clean it up. They always do. It's why we keep coming back. That and the quality of the food. The ECA is encased in a god-tier bagel with the type of eggs that are so fluffy you could've sworn you bit into a cloud. Every bite is a reminder of the strength of modern civilization and the many sacrifices we make to be a part of something bigger (and tastier) than our own selves. 8. Eventually the conversation spilled over the edge and one of us waved a server down. One that we were friendly with. "How can we get our photo on the wall?" She wasn't receptive. But she offered a possibility... "We could put a mirror on the wall and you'd see yourself on the wall." Jess laughed loudly and as she left he told us, "She thinks we're stupid." & you know what? If she did we'd be okay with it. Because that's the type of guys we are. We roll with the punches and get down with the lunches. 9. I'd like to quickly respond to the review written by "S A." in which they said "This place is NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY" because they were forced to wait in line like everybody else. Because of their "hungry kids" they wanted everybody else to get behind them. Sounds like your "family" isn't RESTAURANT FRIENDLY. Maybe it's about time you got in line and learned to respect the rules of the culinary tradition known as "waiting until it's your turn". 10. I left Belle's feeling better than I did when I walked in. I was refreshed, I was quenched. I patted my belly and let out a sigh. Life was great. It was all downhill from here. It was a little hardened too instead of bouncy/doughy -- my preference. The bagel had a few half-cut jalapenos, but it was imbedded a little too deep in the surface, when the bagel shouldn't be afraid to unleash those beauties and let it dazzle for all of us to see! The thing carrying the bagel was the absolutely delicious spread. Instead of a white creamery spread, it was It was creamy and cheddary in color too ! The spicy kick made the schmear finger licking good. Honestly, I'd rather come back here and purchase solely the schmear. It was excellent. Too bad the bagel was about as average it was gonna get. $6.50 is way too much as well!

He is honestly the best thing to happen to Boichik Bagels! He's so sweet, attentive, charismatic, and genuinely seems to care about both his work and the people coming in. I've definitely started coming by more often thanks to Chris and his uplifting attitude. He really makes the place feel welcoming. And the bagels themselves... WOW. The onion and garlic bagels are SO good, and the chive cream cheese is incredible. I'm absolutely obsessed. Thank you, Chris, for making the experience so much better every time I stop by!

Well, at least he is honest, but shouldn't you know the menu if someone is trying to order off of it? Also, Maybe they were having a bad day because I asked how they were doing twice, and both times I was ignored. Bagel was on the smaller side but moist. Very average. Not the Russ and Daughters experience I had last month. Much more superior there. For a good bagel in LA, try Bonjour Bagels..

In comparison to other bagel shops in LA, this spot falls right in the middle. Unfortunately, what…read morereally holds it back is the price point and the overwhelming hype--both from long lines and TikTok buzz--that doesn't quite match the experience. The scale tips more toward the downside when it comes to the bagels themselves. The toppings aren't particularly unique, or consistent, and the bagel had a noticeably firm texture that didn't stand out in a good way. What initially drew me in--and ultimately prompted this review, my first review--was the coffee. After trying 50+ coffee shops over the past 2 years alone, I can honestly say this was one of the more disappointing lattes I've had. I ordered a whole milk latte, and the best way to describe it is simply: watery. It wasn't milk-forward, not sweet, and surprisingly not even very coffee-forward. Instead, it had a slightly herbal, almost oily, burnt-bean flavor that felt diluted with water. I also ordered the carrot cake latte, which had the same base issue. The carrot cake foam helped mask it a bit, but it tasted more like a strong sugar cookie flavor than anything close to carrot cake. In the end, giving grace, perhaps it was just a "bad barista day". Overall, it's not terrible--but definitely not worth the hype or the price. *If visiting on the weekend arrive before 9:30 to beat the line if you dare.*

Every employee was very kind and patient with everyone including me. Got my bagel and coffee in 10 minutes, both were fantastic. One of the best bagel and coffee spots in LA. Will absolutely come back!
