i've had the opportunity of trying calic bagel quite a few times and each time it's pretty enjoyable! i really like their stuffed bagels, of which i've tried the signature and the pepperoni pizza one. the last time i came i got the chevys pollowich and that was pretty good as well. i do wish there was a bit more sauce just because im a sauce girl, and the chicken was a tiny bit dry. other than that, the employees were super sweet and the space itself is cute. there were some people doing work, so potentially a good place to study as well! read more

This time I got their new truffle tots, blueberry cheesecake, cinnamon raisin bagel, and potato and pizza stuffed bagels to try. The truffle tots just tasted like normal tater tots. The blueberry cheesecake had a crunchy buttery biscoff crust with a super light foamy whipped airy cheesecake. Wasn't getting much blueberry flaves tho. 1000% worth the hype! On par with a bagel you'd find in New York, but the execution even exceeds the bar set in the big apple. It was my first time here and I ordered Chevy's Pollowich. The bagel was fresh, had perfect texture, and just the right ratio of chewy to soft/fluffy with a slight crunch. The bacon was cooked perfectly and I'd highly recommend you add it to whatever you order, especially with how generous they were with the portions. The chipotle aioli had a perfect spice and the basil pesto complimented the chicken perfectly. My only complaint would be that the chicken was a bit chewy, possibly a bit overcooked but I'll look past that as everything else nailed the mark. This place is super busy, so I'd recommend ordering ahead to save time. The inside is a bit cramped with a few seats and they have a good amount of seating outside. Its a pretty casual spot where you order at a counter or kiosk and then pick up your food when its ready. As I no longer live in LA, I, of course, had to order like 4 bagels to try. We got the signature calic, elote calic, potato bacon calic, and the bacon scallion. My eyes are always bigger than my stomach and ultimately, I just wanted a taste of them all. Sadly, I found the bagels to be a bit lackluster for the price. The garlic flavor is prominent but, as with a lot of Korean foods, there was just too much sweet for my personal tastes. I should also just recognize that bagels aren't really my thing and despite it being appealing to look at, they didn't really hit home for me. They're quite pricey at close to $10 a bagel and while filling, don't seem to have much substance (its essentially a bagel and flavored cream cheese). The place was pretty busy and it took about 20 minutes to get my order, but I have a feeling they're making these fresh because when they brought them out they were steaming hot like they had just come out of the oven. The first thing I noticed was that these aren't your typical bagels. Instead of being sliced in half, they're stuffed and baked, almost like a cross between a bagel and a stuffed bread. The outside had a nice light crispness to it while the inside was soft and fluffy. Honestly, the texture reminded me more of fresh Italian bread than a traditional chewy bagel. The Signature Calic was loaded with whipped garlic cream cheese and had a great layer of garlic, cheese, and seasoning on top. The Pepperoni Pizza Calic was packed with marinara-flavored cream cheese, melted mozzarella, and pepperoni. When I pulled it apart, there was cheese stretching everywhere, and it definitely looked as good as it tasted. Both bagels were extremely fresh and full of flavor. They were also surprisingly filling. I finished the garlic one and all but one bite of the pizza bagel, which I ended up finishing later. I'm honestly a little torn on this place. I enjoyed both bagels, the freshness was outstanding, and the flavors were really good. At the same time, I think I'm more of a traditional bagel guy. I like a bagel that's a little chewier and I usually prefer a thicker cream cheese instead of the whipped style they use here. That said, I'm glad I finally gave it a try because it was definitely different from anything else I've had. If you've never been here before, I think it's worth stopping in at least once.
