    My 3 options of Riesling
    Court L.

This is becoming one of my favorite little wine bars. The wine selection is great and the bartenders know their stuff, and are quite welcoming. There is no wine list. You tell them what you like/looking for and they give you a few wines to try before deciding. The light bites are perfect for munching. The space is small enough to feel intimate but vibey enough to be your only Friday night outing. Great for dates and girls night out. And the playlist is so perfect and diverse. I'm so glad I moved closer to Covell. It will be my go-to spot.

Well I wish I could give more than 5 stars! The wines are absolutely amazing!! Amsi and Mike are great bartenders and know their wine! I never had a bad glass. The food was outstanding and the service top notch!! Came here for my birthday and it does not disappoint!!

Selection - after letting them know what I was looking for, they brought me three to try before deciding

A small little wine bar that has a great selection and some small bites. I actually didn't have any bites because I was meeting some friends here to try out this place before we had dinner nearby. I'm not sure if this is the usual modus operandi because I didn't know much about this place when my friends told me to meet them here, but basically I was told to tell one of the folks what I was looking for and they typically suggest something for you. So I told the very friendly and hospitable lady I was looking for something "full bodied and oaky". She brought back three different bottles and let me try a bit of each before I decided. I was very happy with the suggestions and with my selection. I really thought that system was really cool. Definitely a really nice place to meet up with friends for wine. I could see this being a good first date place as well. We were here during the middle of the week later at night so parking wasn't too hard to find.

Scottie-Boy natural orange wine. From Buellton. Sweet with a semi sour finish.

A unique bar that does not offer a wine menu but rather a conversation with your bartender about what kind of wine you like. I said we like Pinot but we're interested in having natural wine tonight so they brought out 3 bottles. An orange and two chilled reds. All were very funky to be honest so I asked if they had any central coast wine since we like that region. He brought out another bottle and we loved it! So went with a wine called Scottie-Boy. They were busy so service was on the slower side but still a quality experience when we were face to face. It's dim and cozy in there. Lit by candlelight. A great environment for conversation. Since there is no menu, you have no idea what you are paying for and it would be a bit awkward to ask the price for each wine you taste. We ended up paying $20 a glass which feels on the higher side of what is normally order. Overall, a memorable experience and I recommend.

I would give Covell five stars if their kitchen was a little faster, or fast at all. I get that it's a small space (from what I can see from the bar as the kitchen is in plain sight), but at least give your guests an update on why their food order is taking over thirty minutes to prepare... Kitchen-speed aside, Covell is a quaint spot for a glass of wine with friends or dates. I'm impressed by the vast selection of white and red wines along with the occasional celebrity sighting as an added bonus; met Brett Dier aka Michael from Jane the Virgin, and that elevated my visit as he proved to be an absolute gentleman. The bartenders are nice, knowledgable on the wine list, and make small talk when time allows given that they are running the show most nights. Covell is worth the visit for the wine selection and atmosphere alone; I wouldn't recommend ordering food unless you're an extremely patient person, which is unfortunate considering that the food is actually delicious.

This wine bar is magical. You walk up to the bartender and say "I'm kind of feeling like a medium bodied Red, heavier in the tannins." They give you a smile and come back with two different bottles. They let you taste them both, and truly they are both exactly what you were looking for. They have a tasty assortment of small bites, and a cute outdoor seating area for when it gets too loud.

Remy is the best! So knowledgeable and funny! Not only would I come back to Covell it'd be several times a week if I lived close. Would also hang out with Remy on the weekends!

How much is the range for wines by the glass?

Would it be okay if I came alone?

I would! It gets more of a date scene around 9pm but I've seen plenty of solo trips

Is it a full bar, or wine and beer exclusive? ...And are there TVs? (Please say no.)

Hey there! Thanks so much for reaching out. We sell wine and beer only, and there are no TVs. We hope yo see you soon!

We ordered the Harissa marinated skull island prawns & Oyster mushroom skewers to start. I loved the prawns and the salad verde on the mushrooms were delicious. The Butchr bar burger is a dry-aged ribeye blend patty that comes out juicy and is a good size. The tallow fries are thick and freshly fried- paired with the burger is a perfect combo. The ribeye is shareable and I loved putting the horse radish on it. For dessert we ordered the panna cotta & their chocolate covered ice cream bar. It was a vanilla bean panna cotta with a passion fruit sauce, it felt very light for dessert. The chocolate covered ice cream was a perfect sweet treat finish to the meal. Parking- street parking

Everything was really good, but the fermented pickles were probably my favorite thing on the menu, and that mushroom pizza was absolutely killer. They have a small menu of a few set appetizers and then entrees and desserts rotate daily. Ambiance was very cute and cozy. The gentleman who take care of us was super friendly - I'm sad I didn't get his name. I am not a wine connoisseur by any means, I know a few things I like and that's about it. Our waiter was kind enough to let us sample the three whites they had rotating that night so we could pick what we wanted. I ended up going with a nice Georgian white. And now for the food! Cucumber and pomegranate salad (5/5) - it was fresh, crisp, and very well flavored with the fresh herbs. Ghormeh sabzi with rice (3.5/5) - flavor wise it was delicious, it reminded me of my grandma's ghormeh sabzi. Kidney beans were a bit undercooked. Rice was fluffy and well cooked. Tahchin with chicken (3.5/5) - flavor was good, I think it could have used a bit more seasoning and the rice was more "custardy" than I am used to. Blood orange tart (3/5) - the tart itself was yummy but the blood oranges were quite bitter. Our meal was quite expensive which I completely understand given the quality of the ingredients they use and the fact that they are small business. With that being said, I'd probably only come back here for wine and small bites, not a full meal. But I think Voodoo Vin is worth trying at least once.

Do yourself a favor and don't come here. I highly recommend the classic LA ambience at other close by establishments such as The Oaks on Bronson, the Alley in Silverlake or The Cara on Western instead. This place is like a bad Ryan Murphy series. It takes itself way too seriously. I've given them over 4 chances to change my mind since I live around the corner, and they never cease to amaze me when it comes to their entitled snotty staff & overpriced alcohol plus the parking is absolutely impossible! I even had to help customers break out of the parking lot one evening because the gate closes at a particular hour, and the restaurant doesn't even bother to tell you the gates shut at a particular time way before the restaurant closes. you're on your own, good luck getting your car out! avoid this place like the plague.
