Just a reminder or new alert, for those unaware... COVINTEN Cafe @ 87 14th Street in Hermosa IS FABULOUS!!! I finally tried it and we had an almond croissant, AVOCADO Cheesecake (spoiler: no avocado) and it was so incredible!! Coffee was delicious too. The atmosphere & decor was so beautiful and comfortable. And they serve dinner! The lasagne looks incredible! Another patron in there at the time said she loved her dinner there a few nights before. Try it, you'll love it!

Absolutely delicious! The ricotta pancakes were fluffy as a cloud and practically melted in my mouth. The Garden 2 was delicious as well, and the Austrian coffee is an absolute must-have. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Definitely a place I'd come back to!

    Delicious hibiscus tea

I am so excited about this place. What a hidden gem! The caprese sandwich is delicious, I love the drinks, the hibiscus tea is my favorite. The peaceful, calm interior almost feels spa like. The staff is extra helpful and always friendly. I plan to go there daily for my tea

Covinten Cafe is such an amazing place to be where you can spend some quiet time. The ambience is quite soothing. Always have had a pleasant time there. I ordered the Cendrillon Doré Pancake. It looks so appetizing but tastes even better. Such a filing plate. There's a burst of flavour in your mouth. Cafe is highly recommended.

Covinten is exactly what Hermosa Beach needed. The moment you walk in, you feel the care and intention behind everything -- from the friendly staff to the beautifully balanced drinks. My coffee was smooth, flavorful, and clearly crafted with pride. The space is bright, inviting, and perfect for slowing down or getting a little work done. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

    Drinks menu

Covinten Café is a really nice surprise in Hermosa Beach. It has this laid-back tropical feel, but there is also a subtle French vibe going on that makes it feel a little more special than your usual coffee stop. I had the sangria tea and loved it. It was super refreshing and not overly sweet, and the edible flower was such a cool touch. It actually tasted fresh and clean, not just something thrown in for looks, which made the whole drink feel thoughtful and different. The place is welcoming, the kind of place you want to sit for a bit instead of rushing out. Definitely feels like something new for the area, and I will for sure be coming back.

Everything about this place is beautiful! They executed such an immaculate ambiance here! The food and pastries options are great and several steps above what other places have to offer. They are very nice here and I loved my experience. I'm glad I was able to stop by while I was in town. I would come again! I hope they have great success!

The food was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. The drinks were also very good with perfect presentation . The soft music and the exquisite decoration made it feel very upscale. The service was top notch. I would definitely return.

Ricotta berry pancakes. Really good and filling!

Fancy looking place with great tasting and visually appealing food. Ordered the ricotta pancakes and am pleased with what I got.

While I've been here a few times this is my first formal review. I came with my family one Sunday evening on a hot July day, bypassing several chains on the way, including the new(er) Salt and Straw across the street. The inside is packed to the brim with sweets, small toys, and people, much like a candy shop of old. After reaching the front of the winding line our family shared a Banana Split ($13) - three scoops of ice cream, a split banana, hot fudge, a single dry topping (we chose coconut), whipped cream, and a trio of cherries - about as classic as it comes. The ice cream was good but not exceptional. The chocolate and strawberry were fairly generic, but I liked the third scoop of banana foster ice cream which had a nice banana kick. I doubt this ice cream is home made. The complements and construction to the sundae were great, however, and the flavors came together well. As I would hope for a location like this, the staff are local youths who served with patience and passion. In cases throughout the store are several of their other specialties - ice cream cookie sandwiches, dipped frozen bananas, and more - inviting repeat visits. Prices are elevated but not crazy for such a trendy area, although I would say with the middling quality of the ice cream a couple dollars less would be fine. Overall, Manhattan Beach Creamery is a local landmark worth at least a single visit for anyone in the area. If you can get past the generic, if a little boring, ice cream flavor and rampant commodification of the interior, you'll find a classic ice cream parlor with great service and history. Is it worth a repeat visit? I leave that to you. Food: 4/5 Service: 4.5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Value: 4/5

For me, regular shaved ice usually lacks enough syrup or the ice is too hard. I'm such a wuss, I know, but I hate feeling like I overpaid for a cup of ice. It has been brutally hot and today seemed like a great day to have some shaved ice. The cafe is located in a Korean plaza on Western and 154th. Smoking Tiger coffee is also in the same plaza. The cafe is on the smaller side but there's lots of seating and you can take your orders to go if you want. It's cashless and you take your tray and trash to the counter once you're done. The menu has everything from fruity flavors to Asian flavors like hojicha and injeolmi to Cinnamon Toast crunch. You can get an individual size or larger size to share. The interior is minimalist with vintage-looking posters of the business. They have WiFi and complimentary water. We ordered matcha and mango flavored bingsoo. Both had a tall pile of ice with ample toppings and more syrup layered inside the ice which I think is an important very often overlooked step. I can't wait to return to try out more flavors!
