We had a very strange and disappointing dinner here. It was a Tuesday night at 7, and even though we had a reservation for our party of seven, the server, who was the only person we saw working the entire front of house, seemed surprised. We waited 15 minutes, but to his credit, he hustled a table together for us. Thus began an excruciatingly slow meal that involved a good 20 minutes' difference between the appearance of the first entrees and the last. I can't fault the server, who was literally the only one waiting on all the tables, both inside and out. The fact that anyone got fed is something of a miracle, frankly, and all due to that one server working frantically the whole time. At some point, a young woman materialized who did some light bussing. Weirdly, there was a young man who sat at the bar the entire time, except on the rare occasion when he'd saunter out and wipe down a table, only to return to his barstool. All this time, the server did the vast majority of the work and somehow managed to stay polite and even-tempered through it all. The food was fine, but nothing to write home about. Mostly, we were all just so very weary with waiting and waiting. We had 2 young kids with us, and we didn't leave until 2 hours and 15 minutes after our reservation time. Maybe it was an exceptionally bad night when 2 servers called in sick, because it was crazy to expect one person to cover all those tables. But it seems like a very poorly run place. read more

My husband and I stopped by before the dinner rush during the week to have dessert with our newborn. We loved that it was empty and open before dinner, most places close in between lunch and dinner. So it was great to see it open to take advantage of their delicious crepes. I ordered the lemon butter crepe which satisfied my friend crepe craving at the time. I believe my husband got something with almonds and powdered sugar. His was pretty good, I almost wanted to trade with him. He sometimes ends up ordering better than I do and I'm the self proclaimed foodie . Absolutely loved the touch of the yellow roses. My husband and I recently dined at Creme De La Crepe in Hermosa Beach and, unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. We were surprised to learn there had been a change in management, as we have enjoyed dining here many times in the past and have always had positive experiences with both the food and service. This visit was noticeably different. The manager/server who attended to us came across as cold, unfriendly, and rude, which made us feel unwelcome. In addition, the food was very bland and dry, far below the quality we had come to expect from this location. Because we have been loyal customers over the years, this experience was especially disappointing. I am currently waiting to hear back from the owner, as I hope these concerns will be addressed. This was my first Creme de la Crepe, right here in Hermosa Beach. I found it shortly after an amazing trip through northern France, Paris, the Loire Valley and points east. I had loved the savory crepes I tried in Normandy, and the ones here were as good and fulfilling! This most recent trip I had the Savory Crepe Montagnarde with pommes de terre, prosciutto & Raclette fromage. Perfection! The little side salad and cornichons were a nice add-on. And, the portion ... big enough to share or take half home for later! Dessert of course was a sweet crepe, and I opted for a custom with melted chocolate, mango chunks, toasted almonds & speculoos spread, topped with fresh made whipped cream ... heaven. Also huge! I went for a walk along side the beach with my cousin and after she left, I decided to check out a spot for breakfast and this place did not disappoint. It was early for rhe brunch crowd so it was quiet and plenty of seats. I got the French Benedict, ever since I discovered Brie in breakfast! It was delicious. The potatoes were amazing and so was the jam that they served with the bread. I couldn't finish it. I did have the red sangria which was refreshed and the glass of the hibiscus mimosa, which looked super pretty but I'm pretty sure it's just champagne and a flower inside of it. I was walking on Pier looking for somewhere to eat and the front of this restaurant looked very inviting so I went in. The inside of the restaurant is a bit small but it is made up by the fact there is seating available outside. The service was great. Very attentive and made sure to check on me, which I appreciated. I had the cutest breakfast at this charming little French restaurant and already can't wait to go back! I ordered the Madrid Omelette with cheddar cheese, avocado, sausage slices, salsa, and sour cream -- and wow. Each bite was absolutely delightful. It was paired with a creamy potato gratin, a fresh baby green salad, and a baguette served with homemade jam and butter. I completely cleaned my plate (which says everything!). I also had a lavender chai latte that was so tasty and perfectly balanced. I sat outside with my friend and my dog, and the server was so kind to bring my pup a bowl of water -- such a thoughtful touch. There are only about five tables outside, which made it feel cozy and relaxed. I didn't get a chance to see the inside, but the outdoor seating was very comfortable and charming. I got a pasta carbonara and the Veronica, which had cookies butter and toasted almonds and came with a side of vanilla ice cream. Doesn't seem like the carbonara was authentic, since it had ham and bacon, but nonetheless tasted delicious. But the star of the show was definitely their dessert crepe. I didn't want to stop eating. If you want a little taste of France and a great eating experience, you will love this restaurant. The menu is extensive and offers breakfast, lunch, dinner and bar service. The buckwheat crepes are gluten free, flavorful and light. There are many crepe choices. We ordered the Montagnarde crepe, with a delish raclette cheese and potatoes inside and prosciutto and cornichons on top. And, we ordered the Marine crepe which had fresh shrimp, seared scallops, and a white wine cream sauce. The sauce was not too rich and the seafood was delicious. Both crepes came with a lovely baby greens salad and a creamy aioli type dressing which was perfect. I can't wait to come back and try other menu specialties. We came for lunch and ate outside, however there was seating indoors or at the bar. The server was very friendly and helpful. There is plenty of street parking and during the month of December the parking meters are turned off to encourage holiday shoppers and diners. The bill was $45 for both lunches and a cappuccino with tax. A great value for the atmosphere, service and most importantly the delicious food. Credit cards accepted. Single occupant restrooms available in the back. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Dogs were allowed on the outside patio. Metered street parking. I got the Nordique crepe, which had raclette cheese inside as well as ham. There were a lot of cornichons on top as well as a small side green salad. I had a pumpkin spice latte (very fall) and some people in the group did get mimosas (they have different juice options including grapefruit and passion fruit ). What we ordered came with a salad, some slices of bread with butter, strawberry jam, and a square of what seems like sliced potato. The food was not much to speak of, and in my opinion not worth the price. The crepe, however, was quite pleasant.
