Several months ago I had gone into the Cox store and was originally happy with getting the wireless boxes and panoramic Wi-Fi. When I had inquired about whether or not I could use my own Wi-Fi router I was told no it had to be their WiFi router to be able to use their wireless boxes. I called today inquiring about my bill and I am told by the representative that I can lower my bill by purchasing my own Wi-Fi router and that I did not need to rent their box in order to get the wireless boxes for my TV. It's that level of bullshit that they tell customers that I find poor business practices and that's why they get shitty reviews. It would have been much better if they had at least sold it as hey we would provide you with Wi-Fi technical support if you lease ours, but you can buy your own Wi-Fi router. read more

Spent about 3 hours using the online chat/ phone customer service this morning. It was without a doubt the most egregious experience with any employees of a business have ever had or even heard about. I was hung up on 3 separate times during the phone service due to the agents not wanting to do their job (Talking about you, Jeremy!), had none of my questions answered through the chat, getting completely dismissed instead of having my questions even acknowledged (Elizabeth was the name of the Online chat person). It was as though these people were actively trying to not help me so I decided to go into this retail location after giving up on the other two choices. I spent a grand total of 5 minutes with Corey and he got everything resolved and set up for me. He was very friendly, helpful, and competent. Even after dealing with horrible customer service all morning, My interaction with Corey was so pleasant that I am in a fantastic mood. Honestly people need to stop writing reviews on the corporation, and their issues with the monopolization on the market... and base it on their experience with the Brick and Mortar location, their staff, and their customer service. Because first off, of course they raise prices, that's what monopolies do. Did you realize McDonalds no longer has a $1 menu? Or Wendy's? It's called inflation. I've been with the company for 12 years. My bill, for the same stuff, originally was $110, now I'm paying $180. It sucks, but Quail Hill isn't going to help you; go call customer service, tell them you want to cancel, and they WILL work with you, I do it every time I see my bill go up. Google fiber? Good luck... like Google would pay the cost to rebuild an infrastructure.... Back to the store location. Yes its slow. Yes it sucks you have to wait just to do a 5 minute swap, or a 2 minute return, when you got people who are buying services, taking hours of CR's time. It's a stupid queue. Some workers are incompetent, some workers are great... Wow, it sounds just like every other business in the world. Look, you need this type of "HUB" to deal with hardware returns and warranty work, and this location is essential, regardless of how shitty it may be. Suck it up. Nobody likes going to the doctor and dentist, even if you like them... because it's a hassle. Going to this place is a hassle, and there isn't much you can do about it. It's hard to believe that cox could exceed in my expectations of poor service, yet they've done it again. I need to return a modem, because I had to buy a new one because service to my house is horrible. And instead of accepting the equipment back, the guys actually said that I need to wait in line - the world's slowest line - so that I can get a receipt because otherwise the equipment might get "lost" in his store. I said, but I'm giving it to you, can't you just return it properly. He said almost every person who leaves equipment without getting a receipt ends up paying for it because the equipment is "lost." Cox used to be very reasonable and all staff were very professional and friendly but seems so much changed lately. Price keep changing without any notice. I was told my bill will stay $54.99 without any contract as long as I keep this account but they are saying now that they don't offer this speed (internet) that they need to bump up to $74.99. That's totally BS. They are advertising the same service at same price but they said it's only for new customers. The company that can't even take care of their existing customers... I've had my share of 1 and 2 star experiences with Cox customer service over the phone and dealing with installers. But this page is to review the store itself. My remote had quit functioning so I went to exchange it. As I walked up to the front door a male employee opened the door for me and welcomed me. He asked what I needed help with. I told him I needed to exchange my remote. Within 30 seconds he had a new one in my hands. He took my old one and removed the batteries and returned them to me. That was it - no questions asked, no hassle, no paperwork, no looks of disbelief. Only a smile. As I walked toward the door a female employee opened the door for me and wished me a pleasant day. As I walked to my car I thought, "What the hell just happened?". I was in and out in a literal minute and everyone was very nice as well as efficient. Terrible treatment of customers. Avoid Cox at all costs if you can. The people who work in the stores are as bad as the ones who work on the phone. It's so impossible to cancel services without being hassled over adding additional services, switching to their mobile phone service, etc. I was hassled/harassed by 3 employees on the phone when I called to cancel my cable service (because of course you can't do it online), and of course, they have to hear your whole story and then decide you need to be transferred. They must be trained to not take no for an answer. So obnoxious. Then I went into the Quail Hill store to return my cable box and got the same treatment from the young man that was processing my return. After I politely told him "no" 3 times regarding switching to their mobile phone service, he got obnoxious and was causing a scene in a store full of customers, telling me if I just wanted to overpay with my current provider, then fine, just waste my money, blah blah blah, still talking as I walked out of the store. Believe me, if I had any other choice for internet where I live, I would dump Cox in a minute. Cox corporate REALLY needs to work on how they instruct their employees to deal with customers that want to cancel services. One "no" should be all it takes to get them to stop pushing. read more

This company is a joke. I have been a customer since I was 18 and I am 33...... trust me when I say this you will lose clients to dropped calls. My number #1 complaint other than inconsistent internet. From a customer service aspect if a client not a new client but lifelong client tells you they having issues with internet. The first thing they do is up sell you. I was a sucker for a few times. It's sad cause I give everyone opportunity but enough excuses plus most of there employees are international and trouble speaking English. Poor company and they overcharged. If you okay with spotty at best then go with them. Also make sure to keep records of internet speeds cause I have never had the speed I paid for. Ridiculous. I hate, hate, hate cox cable. We were signed a contract with one of the the leasing agencies and were forced into using cox cable as our service provider. 1, upon install the tech person just plugged everything in and left before it was properly installed. Even stating he gets paid for installing quickly and the more installs the more $$$ he makes. So we had to have 2 more tech support people visit before realizing they needed to access the media closet in our building... 2, since installing we've unplugged our phone since we do not ever use the landline but somehow telemarketers have called repeatedly from the minute the phone line was installed. Thanks Cox. 3, the internet chooses when it wants to work, despite having every speed and capacity upgrade possible. I've called in repeatedly but I'm routinely told "everything looks good on our end" but when I'm on the phone trying to run speed test the internet buffers for minutes at a time. 4, if you need a technician to visit you for a service that is NOT working there is a $75 fee from Cox to send someone to your home. Don't get suckered in. Stay far, far away from Cox Cable. This is the worst service I've ever had, in 4 major cities in 3 different states. Choose anyone but Cox. read more

Our phone services go down every time it rains and has have been down since March 25th. We've called Cox several times to no avail. What really sucks is Cox has a monopoly on our area they have raised our service rates exponentially but our service continues to deteriorate. Our equipment is crapp, Customer service is even worse as even the Cox CSR's can't even get into their own system to create a service ticket for us because it's down and now with a Corona virus can't have a service Tech out to look at the equipment inside our house because of the Corona virus they can only coach us from outside the house I know it's their fault it's either the wiring or the crapy modem they gave us for phone So sometime this month we will be canceling service. Betcha they will never respond because they don't care about taking pride in good Customer. Service it's all. Finally we got a tech out 4/11/20 but tech stated it was a mechanical issue and would have to open another service ticket and would most likely be another 3 to 4 weeks so that means almost 2 month without reliable phone service. Cox again blamed their poor service practices on the Corona virus but our neighbors are not having any issues with their VOIP Services. Even at installation in took 6 service ticket to get set up correctly. What really sucks is the Irvine Company not allowing more cell towers built so we could use other competitors services. Cox"s monopoly is like a conspiracy with The Irvine Company and no one gives a darn about the ridiculously poor service Cox provides and expeditiously raises in prices at their will! They don't care about their customers just their bottom line. And yet Frontier Communications is under investigation for the same practices! read more

But then he came back and got me a better price on services I was already paying more to have. Austin, wearing a mask properly met me at the door to hold it open keeping a respectful physical distance which was appreciated in these Covid times. I was in and out of the store literally within 5 minutes! It could not have been a smoother, faster or more effective service. Austin was great! There might be issues for some for Cox as a company which are legit but I have always found the Employees at this location to be great! When I had to get a new credit card number and forget to update it with them, they actually charged me an NSF fee. Even though the bank didn't charge them because its a credit card and not a check, they still charged me and also prevented me from paying future payments with a credit card. No other utility or service provided did this, or made it this difficult. I'm pretty sure it's illegal to charge clients an NSF fee for denied credit cards. Thankfully I was fortunate enough to have Google Fiber in my community. The switch was flawless and service is night and day difference. read more

COX Communications is the only internet cable provider in our neighborhood and we have been with Cox for nearly 30 years. Recently COX did an internet security upgrade that resulted in my wife's Mac Book email no longer capable of sending emails, she could still receive emails. After numerous calls and more than 9 accumulated hours in wait times and conversations with COX it was determined that the COX server was rejecting my wife's outgoing email password which was and should have been the same as before their upgrade. Initially a COX representative ruled out a password as the issue because my wife's email account would work on their webmail email with her password. IF COX WOULD HAVE INITIALLY IDENTIFIED THEIR OUTGOING SERVER REJECTING OUR PASSWORD AS THE ISSUE WE COULD HAVE SAVED A WHOLE DAY ON THE PHONE. Each and every time we called COX we had to go through their multiple menus and then tell a new COX rep what we had been through. The COX Level 1 techs didn't t know what the Level 2 techs had us do and the Level 1 and Level 2 techs didn't know what their Customer Care techs told us to do. Cox told us to call Apple and said they couldn't check back us to see if Apple could resolve the issue and that we would need to call COX back and go through their menus. COX pointed us to Apple as they said their webmail was working with outgoing emails proving the problem was in the Apple computer. Apple reps were great - in an attempt to resolve our issue the Apple rep joined a conversation I was having with COX, then later called us back and even hung on hold waiting for COX rep to answer to resolve the issue. With Apple on the line the COX rep told us he was aware of a known problem and they were working on it. Only with another call to COX the 3rd day did a COX rep suggest try changing the email password. Not knowing if we ever resolved our email issue Apple called us back to see if everything was working. Great follow up. I gave COX a "1" for their customer support and follow up and I give Apple a "5". read more

These stores are very helpful. Am I a fan of COX? No...COX has ruined probably about 14 days of my life so far while waiting for them to do one thing or another. Whether it be mistakes on my account or their inability to get my cable service working (it has taken a week and still no service), I have never been happy with their service. I just recently moved addresses and had the most hostile time with the Cox representatives (on the phone) been transferred all over the globe and was put on hold for hours on end (literally over 3 hours). I received a survey about how my experience went with Cox support and I unleashed my wrath on that email. A gentlemen named Julian in Customer relations (phone support) told me that they would waive the installation fee, adjust my monthly and provide a 50% comp for a modem of my purchase for my new home to mend broken relations. I proceeded to call Julian again to receive my modem and the number didn't exist... I called Cox AGAIN and after 46 minutes of hold, they told me I have to go to the retail store to figure it out...(all this so far is dealing with Cox support on the phone and NOT the retail store). I drove to this retail store immediately, and I talked to a sales representative and he immediately referred me to his boss, Ernesto. This man heard my complaints and frustrations without even giving a single ounce of attitude and calmly tried to help out. He tried to figure out the root of the issue and after a long conversation (meaningful, not wasted) he was able to offer my family an amazing package deal from his retail store and proceeded to fix all the issues that has risen. This man did not have to do that, and could've easily said tough luck, deal with it. But he was sincere genuine and was SUPER PROFESSIONAL about everything. I don't want to spell out what he exactly did for us, but IF YOU NEED ANY ASSISTANCE, Ernesto is the guy you need to go to. He has provided customer service that was better than that of Amazon and Costco and this man needs medals to display his work. I ordered Contour Flex TV for the express purpose to view Fox 11 News. I was mislead. NOT able to view Fox 11 News with Cox Contour Flex tv which was $40 extra monthly CHARGE. I called customer service who expected me to hold for over 28 minutes. Then when I asked to DELETE Contour Flex TV from my account was NOT ABLE TO SPEAK WITH A SUPERVISOR. Instead I was told that I needed TWO pin numbers for changes to my account. When I finally did get Cox Contour Flex TV deleted from my account I was exhausted. read more

They sold me a plan that included modem with built in battery backup. Now they tell me to take the modem to store to replace it with another modem with no battery backup. Being a customer who has always loved Cox Communications for their internet services, I must now cross the line as they have crossed a big one... Data Usage CAPS... Who in their right mind thought this was a good idea? I mean really, Cell phone companies are finally getting the idea that caps are bad for business and are re-introducing unlimited plans due to the backlash, why does Cox think it will be any different for them? We are 10 days into our billing cycle and have already rocketed past the warned "1024 gb" data cap which will be enforced at the beginning of the year. Seriously? AND with overages for every 50gb of data after that? ONE GAME DOWNLOAD FROM EITHER XBOX OR PLAYSTATION CAN RANGE FROM 50 to 100gb's of data just to get the game! not counting patches or system updates. Movies range from 5gb to 25gb or more depending on their length and quality, and that's if your downloading ONCE, not counting if your streaming multiple times for different users throughout that month My families house has gone mostly digital (we still have tv through Direct TV because, well COX tv is awful!) Between YouTube (hd-4k) Netflix (hd-4k) as well as other streaming apps offered through our windows 10 computers that are also in HD-4k, there is NO WAY that 1024gb of data is enough for a moderately sized household of users. (in our case, 5 users, sometimes 6) All accessing their own content. The worst part is? Unless we want to switch to DSL, which is SLOW, Latency-filled and horribly inconsistent, we're stuck. That's right, since Cox has a geographic monopoly on our area we have NO OTHER CHOICE, we can't go to their opposition that DON'T USE DATA CAPS because there is no choice, short of moving to a different neighborhood that isn't in the clutches of COX (but instead Spectrum, google fiber, Verizon fios, ATT Fiber, etc) which obviously that's not always a solution for everyone. Down with Cox communications! down with Geographical monopolies! but more importantly Death to Data Usage Caps! this is an inappropriate and short-cited business practice that needs to be shut down!
