I've been coming here for years and always have an excellent meal. The staff is very friendly. I love the burgers and sandwiches, and the Cobb salad is excellent. It is hard to find and parking is tight, and it is always noisy inside. But it's a great local spot. Four stars instead of five due to our last meal here - two couples on Saturday evening, my burger was perfect as was my friend's chicken pot pie. Our dates did not like their food as much as we did, the Thai chicken salad looked like a plate of greens with some large pieces of chicken and peanuts and the steak had to be sent back twice and then exchanged for a different meal as it was tough. But personally, I've never had a bad meal here and plan to return. read more

Popped by here while out looking at real estate in the area. Used past reviews as a guide and Yelp didn't disappoint. Don't let the outside fool you. The place has great food. Came here tonight after not being sure where we'd eat. I had thought I'd been here before, but couldn't remember. We were that sort of hungry that I just drove to the closest restaurant that had a good menu, lol. It was busy, as it was 7pm on a Saturday; but we got seated in 5-10 minutes. We each ordered a drink - my boyfriend a beer and myself a glass of wine. I don't know anything about wine so I relied heavily on the description on the menu and was pleasantly surprised how much it tasted like the description. Then time to order - my date got the fried shrimp with fries and coleslaw - he loved it. I had the hanger steak with fingerling potatoes and roasted corn. It was fantastic. I'll post pictures of my food because it was as handsome as it was delicious, and I literally ate every single bite. There was not one bit of fat that needed trimmed from the steak; it was absolute perfection. Service was timely and unobtrusive, just as it should be. Food came out quickly and hot. The two stars attached to this review have nothing to do with the food. It was fine, better-than-average. What the two stars refer to is our server Jared, who really shouldn't be on the floor as a server. He couldn't be more disinterested, disengaged and smug if he tried. When not getting drink refills or being looked at with total disdain becomes the prevailing feature of a restaurant visit, it doesn't matter how good the food is at that point. In hindsight, we're not surprised to notice that other Yelp reviews have also mentioned this particular server and not in a positive way. read more

My wife and I love to stop into the crabapple tavern! Not only is the service fantastic but the food is also amazing! What at first seems to be a local bar and grill soon becomes apparent is so much more! A nice warm atmosphere that is made much more inviting my the friendly staff! The Chicken Pot pie is only better at grandmas house and you need to go to Philly to find a better cheese steak sandwich. If you are a fan of sweet potato fries you have found a home as well! I want to say this is quite possibly the greatest find I have made so far in my Yelping career. Heres the deal. I teach guitar lessons across the street, and from afar you have no clue what the food and atmosphere is like at this place. Now around the studio Im at during the day, I have an Alpine Bakery, McDonalds, Pizza Vito, and that pretty much sums it up if I dont want to drive far. So after polling the parents of my students I decided that I should take it upon myself to come here. To start the place is low key, and cozy. It really is a place I would want to come, have a few beers, grab some delicious food and spend a few hours with friends. The only complaint I have is that the Caeser Salad I had to start was pretty dry, and that was easily fixed by Jenna, the awesome bartender. The bar was just about full, and everyone seemed to know everyone there, a good sign to me. After the salad I had a nice bacon cheese burger with provolone cheese! I have a small affection for provolone. The fries could have had more of a seasoning then just salt, but its something that wont affect me heavily. Based on all of this, you bet I found a new spot to work on my alcoholism at. God help me. Ill be back. read more

They have Hoffman Red Hots from Buffalo at the Crabapple Tavern. This is the mild Hoffman Reds, not the white Coney's or Snappers. Flat grilling brings out a marvelous taste in these dogs. Of course, I am no real expert; but my New Jersey girlfriend has taught me the secrets of the Windmill dog from the Jersey shore and I think I get it. These dogs compare favorably to those that we get shipped to our condo packed in dry ice from the north country. And they serve them on toasted bread any way you want them (catchup on the side of course). Crabapple Tavern is a great little spot although hard to find. It is behind the Waffle House. But that does not mean that it is not crowded on weekends! read more

The food is always excellent! I'd love to have the gyro on the dinner menu. That's my only suggestion, the emply are truly nice, caring people. We were thee Sunday, they were out of yengling and then the gyro meat wasn't prepared. The very nice manager came over and thanked us for staying, and gave us a nice discount. Unimpressive service for sure. Refills took forever and required repeated requests. I also had to ask twice for tartar sauce since they kept forgetting. The shrimp was excellent and my wife enjoyed her hummus. But the prices are too expensive for what you're getting, especially in light of the service (multiple people -- not just the waitress). The decor is nice, cozy, and roomy. I doubt we'll be back as there wasn't anything we can't get elsewhere for better price and service. read more

We usually have a great experience here but today was the worse! As the only African Americans in the restaurant at first time, I felt like our business washot valued and that we were ignored by our waiter. It took over 15 minutes for the server to come over to our table. I waited 20 minutes for a soup that never came but after complaining about our experience, the manager brings out the soup that he initially forgot but if course it was cold. I ordered the ahi tuna like I always do, medium rare but they overcooked it twice and put it on stale bread. The fries for our entire table were salty and overcooked but when I looked around everyone else in the restaurant had fresh fries. Our waiter didn't check on us at all until it was time to bring the check and never apologized for the experience. She came to tell me that my sandwich was removed from the check but I didn't come for free food. I just wanted a good experience and a good meal. read more

This is a very simple good place to eat. The menu is full of great food and the laid back atmosphere is great for families with kids. The servers are quick and very pleasant. The pricing is very reasonable for the quality of food they are serving. I recommend the Homemade potato chips with melted bleu cheese, and the Gulf Shrimp served over grits with a red pepper cream sauce. Good stuff. read more

This place is in our "after work happy hour"" rotation. It's a good neighborhood bar with a pretty nice waitstaff. My group from work goes regularly so we get to know the workers and get pretty good service. The drink prices are very reasonable. Clientele trends older, but that's what dominates this part of town. Don't come here expecting any wild parties. The food is your standard pub fare. It's not going to win any awards, but you won't leave disappointed either. If the sandwiches, the French dip and Philly cheese steak are tasty. The entrees are worth a try to, particularly the chicken pot pie and meatloaf (when they have it). read more

Stopped in post Little League Baseball loss with the In Laws and couldn't rave more about this hidden little Tavern. Right off the bat - haha ... Hostess and Server were extremely friendly and helpful. Portions and Flavor of lunch were a Homerun!!! Corona was ice cold and Sweet Tea was on point. If I lived in the neighborhood this is the kind of place which could easily become the regular spot. It's "comfortable". Nothing pretentious but not your typical strip mall Tavern either. Good menu options, decent specials, price is just slightly on the high side for what it is...perhaps justified by the lack of stale beer aroma and no sticky floor...and the crowd being 40's and up. The other afternoon they had a Hot 'n' Sour soup , Fried Oysters, and Corned Beef Hash as specials. Tried them all and surprisingly it was the entree (corned beef hash which was small in its portion size, but the food was generally good. Burgers are also good. Everyone was friendly, especially the staff, but on the night I went, it was trending older (50s & 60s if I had to guess). The was no wait on a Friday night, but also 3rd of July so many people may have been out watching firework displays. The restaurant and menu reminded me of a pub in England and Ireland, not an extensive menu, but something for everyone. I ordered the fish and chips and my wife got the chicken pot pie. Our food arrived surprisingly quick and we were glad we hadn't ordered an appetizer or else we would have had everything at one time. The fish and chips were EXCELLENT! My favorite restaurant for SO many reasons!! Number one-the food. I have worked my way through the menu and everything is worth coming back for. My special fave is their burger: fresh meat cooked the way you want it, juicy, cheesy perfection. They have salads, main dishes and another fave on the appetizer menu, home made potato chips with blue cheese dressing. The prices are really good so you can keep coming back. Number two-on Saturday and Sunday they have screw drivers, Mimosas, and bloody Mary's for $3.50 each. They make the the best Bloody Mary's in town! Number three-the service is perfect. A well trained and friendly staff. They remember you and what you like and treat you like a good friend. And last but not least, a REALLY friendly dog patio with fans, trees, umbrellas, and they welcome dogs. Even bring them water. I visited here for lunch on a weekday. It is located next to the Ace Hardware and behind the McDonalds. The restaurant was a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be. They have a lot of seating and a full bar area, and the restaurant has a casual & laid back feel to it. My server was super sweet and did a great job. I ordered the fried pickles for my starter. They were served with a side of ranch and were pretty tasty. They were crunchy and a very generous portion size. For my entree, I ordered the cheeseburger and fries. It was a pretty basic hamburger--nothing special about it. The fries were okay--not hand cut like I prefer. Their menu offered a lot of appetizer and drink options, so I almost feel like this would be the place to visit for a happy hour or a quick meet up with someone. I will definitely try this place again, but would not consider it one of the best restaurants in the MIlton/Alpharetta area. read more
