Came her on a Thursday evening in June (visiting from another part of FL). They quoted us 30 minutes for a table outside, which seemed reasonable given the location & the number of tourists around. We were seated promptly but waited at least 10 minutes before a server came by to greet us or offer drinks. We put an order in for a kids meal, as our kids were quite hungry. It took a good 30 minutes for a simple plate of butter pasta & fries to come out. Our server finally came back to take our order. We went with his recommendations for the grouper plate & the scallop plate - both were decent, but nothing to write home about. The grouper was actually slightly over cooked, but still good. This was our first-time trying hogfish, and I'm glad we did because it was nothing short of phenomenal. Hogfish themselves like to dine on crustaceans and this gives the Hogfish mean a somewhat crustacean meat like flavor. Crabby's Dockside is the only restaurant I know of in the area that will cook your fresh catches from fishing charters. We stopped in for lunch, brought them our fresh Spanish Mackerel catches from our fishing charter with Reel Deal Sportfishing, and they cooked it to perfection. For $10.99/pound, they'll cook it fried, grilled, blackened, or a combination, and the price includes fries and coleslaw. We went half fried and half blackened, and it was a mouthwatering delight. The staff is always welcoming and attentive, and they didn't seem annoyed that we brought our own fresh catches. It added to the charm of the place, and we left feeling like part of the family. We also got the crab and spinach dip (not pictured) that did not last long. The chips were freshly made and the dip was bubbling as it came out. The prices were also extremely reasonable for a tourist area. I live in Tampa and the total was less that I would pay at a typical dinner out. My kids are big seafood eaters so this was a little surprising to us. I was also disappointed in their drink special. The batter on the pickles has a nice crunch. They weren't soggy like some places. The shrimp was spicy but you could still taste the sweetness of the actual shrimp. Buffalo chicken was served with blue cheese dressing. Fries are crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Crab cakes definitely are more crab than fillers. A whopping $60 for 1.5 lbs (I made the mistake of not asking what the market price was) and respectfully the worst crab legs. I ordered the grouper with coconut rice and fries and the grouper was really good, specially with the white sauce. The coconut rice was ok but when you put it together it was fine. As for my appetizer- the onion rings, I didn't like it. It was too greasy and the batter separated from the onion so I was left eating soggy onions. My husband on the other hand ordered the 3 way oysters for appetizer which he so much looked forward to but he was disappointed. He only liked one of the 3 ways. He said they had too much cheese that took away from the natural flavor. For his meal he ordered grilled shrimp with vegetables and coconut rice. The shrimp was salty and the vegetables looked like steamed frozen veggies and the rice was too sweet for him. My drink was this mango frozen drink and was delicious but I don't remember the name. Actually, a leather boot would probably taste better than this steak. My son ordered the shrimp Alfredo and he barely ate any of it. Love this place! When we arrived there was live music playing, which was a pleasant surprise. It's always nice to have live music while enjoying your dinner, so that was a huge plus. It was only until 8pm which kinda sucked, but still was nice while we had it. We ordered beers and oysters for appetizers. Both were great! Then we had coconut shrimp, ceaser salad, clam chowder, and salmon. Everything was great! Then the most amazing part came along....the keylime pie!!! SO GOOD! I've had many slices in the past and this was in my top 3. My boyfriend had the peanut butter one and said it was good, I didn't try it so we're going to have to take his word for it. I have been to Clearwater hundreds of times and I always pass up Crabby's because I thought it was a tourist trap for seafood, but boy was I wrong... It is right across the street from Clearwater Pier and right next to the bay! I prefer sitting on the 3rd floor because there is a great view of the beach and bay! Upon arrival, at dinner, we were immediately seated on the 3rd floor. Our server greeted us swiftly and took our order fast. They were super attentive to our questions and offered guidnance on ordering. Our server was also sure to give us utensils and napkins before our food arrived; which should be a known thing but so often they forget! I ordered snow crab legs with baked oysters. It came with two sides so automatically I got cheesy grits and fries! The food was served within 15 minutes, hot and fresh. I also ordered a house margarita on the rocks with salt and it hit the spot perfectly! I highly recommend stopping in during sunset to get some amazing pictures while enjoying great food! If you get the chance to stop in be sure to head to the 3rd floor to see the view. Overall, the service at Crabby's Dockside was top-notch. Dinner at the Crabby Dockside was top notch! We arrived at 6:05pm and were seated immediately on the second floor with a nice view of the water. Our server was PHrank who actually was also the bartender. The "PH" stood for Doctor of Mixology . Being the bartender did not deter PHrank from serving us an excellent meal. My wife had the blackened grouper sandwich, a side salad, with onion rings. The spices on the grouper brought a bit of heat, and gave the sandwich good taste, not dry at all. Everything was served to perfection, with generous portions. At PHrank's suggestion, I had the stuffed flounder... and would do it again if given the chance. The flounder was sliced down the middle and stuffed with a large serving of crab meat. It was all baked in a light butter sauce. We had two cocktails as well and both were at the happy hour price. A 20oz craft beer for $6...I'll take it! The last thing we enjoyed was 2 pieces of their smooth Key Lime Pie. Firm meringue slices (not runny), and served with a Graham Cracker crust and a dollop of whipped cream. It was a nice finishing touch to a very good meal. Next time we're back in Clearwater, we will be back to visit Crabby Dockside! read more

So disappointed in this place. It's in a great location on the marina, but it's extremely crowded and unfortunately, they don't have a good handle on how to process the crowd. The onion rings tasted fishy and the breading was crusty and unappetizing. The short ribs were fatty and chewy and the mashed potatoes had no flavor whatsoever, even after generously seasoning them with salt and pepper. The waiter also saw we didn't each much of our food and made no mention of it and didn't even ask how the meal was. What was the worst part about the experience you ask? My wife got food poisoning from the shrimp tacos and spent 5 hours puking, causing us to spend an additional $200 on a mobile IV so we could salvage the last day of our vacation. With so many other great places to eat in Clearwater, I recommend you skip this place at all costs! read more
