My friends and I went here randomly on a Sunday morning. We made a reservation through yelp, and I'm happy we did because it was busy!! Cute atmosphere with a cracked ceiling to go along with the name. We sat and our waiter was okay, would've liked him to be a little more attentive. I ordered the duck bacon, and was disappointed. I like my bacon to have crisp to it and this had none. I also ordered the hot honey chicken sandwich which was great!! The perfect size for brunch and had the right amount of spice. However, I did have to send my fries back because they came to the table cold. They immediately got me hot fries and apologized for the inconvenience, which I thought was great! The reason for the two stars: My friend ordered the Acadian Assets, which was supposed to come with a crawfish cream sauce. When her plate arrived there was no cream sauce, and when asked why they said they stopped making it and they shouldn't hadn't changed the menu. They did take it off the bill, but they should take that off the menu and not assume the waiter/waitress is going to remember to tell the customers. The second reason is my friend and I ordered a spicy margarita. They served us a margarita with hot sauce in it and pickled vegetables! I couldn't believe. It's at a corner of a 4way intersection you can't miss it, the interior is nicely decorated and the beautiful natural light that comes in just sets the mood for the day. The cracked ceiling and light within it was a really nice touch. Our server and the service was A1. The reason I am in love with this place....two words (Duck Bacon!!). I really want to give this place five stars as the food was absolutely amazing, but the customer service here fell flat and is the main reason why they're falling two stars short for me. We made reservations a few weeks ago for a group of 12. I knew how hard it was to be able to make reservations for a group that large, but when they said they could accommodate, I was excited as I read a ton of great reviews about this place. When we arrived, they didn't have the table ready for us, which was fine, but when they finally did, they basically had a table of 6 ready for us to be sat for a table of 12. How were we going to be able to fit into that table with a group of girls; not even to mention the food. So we told the servers and they were trying to force our hand to sit there. We ordered a wide variety of food, and the shrimp and grits were delicious; this was my second time having them. They are not your average, mediocre shrimp and grits. The gravy is luxurious, with carrots, shrimp, and sautéed celery cooked throughout, and you can tell it was made with love. The crab cakes were also delicious, served with eggs Benedict. The duck bacon tower is always a favorite, though they ran out of rosemary. The usual presentation includes flamed rosemary alongside the duck bacon, but that was not the case this time. The monkey bread was extremely tasty as well, resembling a dessert with pecan sauce or praline sauce--it was delicious all around. They forgot to serve us our crab Rangoon, so we asked them to take it off the order. We also ordered hash browns with eggs, but they arrived cold, so we sent them back after trying one bite. The lemon drop and strawberry lemon drop cocktails were perfectly blended and tasted great. There's a $25 bottle option for mimosas, which is better than getting individual mimosas for $15 each. Originally, when they first opened, you could bring your own bottle, but that policy changed, likely because they now have a liquor license. We were disappointed to have to take the bottles of champagne we brought and set them aside on the floor. It felt as if we were being rushed by the young lady who greeted guests in the restaurant. She was friendly yet somewhat dismissive. There was an error on our receipt, and when we pointed it out, she was quite pushy and irritated. When we explained that we were waiting for our waiter to remove the crab Rangoon from our bill, she seemed frustrated. She went to the back to speak with our waiter about the discrepancy, and he returned with the corrected receipt. My review has changed since my first visit, as my expectations were very high due to the amazing service I experienced then. Unfortunately, many aspects have changed, and I felt somewhat disappointed this time. However, the food was generally delicious, aside from one plate being cold and a dish we originally ordered not being served. Will I be back? Terrible service -- I won't be back. Our reservation was for 2:15, and we arrived a bit early. We walked in and were not greeted by the host--I had to initiate the conversation myself. Once we were finally seated, our waitress discouraged us from ordering bottomless mimosas and instead suggested we just buy a bottle. We ordered the bottle along with pancakes and the crab Rangoon, which we assumed would be served as a starter. When the waitress returned to take our entrée order, we weren't quite ready. But when we were ready, we had to flag her down to get her attention. By then, it was about 2:49. She said she'd be right with us--only to return with our checks instead. We told her we wanted to order another bottle, but she said they were about to close. At that point, we didn't even bother asking to place our entrée order. We were essentially rushed out 10 minutes before 3:00. If Crack'D can't accommodate guests properly after 2:15, they shouldn't allow reservations at that time. To start, the off street parking is not easy during a busy day and good luck trying to find a close spot. If you are local, I suggest using Uber. The duck bacon tower had a good presentation, but the taste was just okay. The chicken and waffles came out cold. The bacon and waffles seemed like they had the same spicy maple syrup on it. Bri was hands down the best waitress I've ever had--super attentive, sweet, and made the whole experience feel personal and enjoyable. The food overall was solid. I really liked the crab ragoons--they used a different cheese than the usual cream cheese, and it actually worked perfectly. The pistachio drink, while really pretty with a tasty rim, was way too strong and honestly just tasted like straight liquor. On the other hand, the strawberry lemon drops were to die for--refreshing, flavorful, and dangerously good. I would've kept ordering them if they weren't alcoholic! The banana foster had good flavor but was a little overcooked--hard to cut into and definitely more nuts than bananas. The ice cream on top started off too cold but eventually balanced things out. Garden Salad was loaded with arugula and a few skinned grape tomatoes. Champagne vinaigrette was meager seemed too, to not to have been mixed. Too much oil; very little flavor. I asked for more, hoping the second would be better. Glad I didn't hold my breath; no one ever returned til after plates had been cleared. A curious occurrence: a random server at the bar pouring a glass of bubbly she'd taken from... elsewhere, right BACK INTO THE CHAMPAGNE BOTTLE. I put myself on the waiting list and the time was very accurate about at 40 min wait so we had to time to get ready at the hotel and by the time we showed up to the restaurant we were immediately seated. The server was really nice and speedy it was really crowded but everything came out at a reasonable time. All the food was also pretty good and good portions. The crab Rangoons was the star of the show. Highly recommend. They have a nice selection of drinks and mocktails as well. They have a lot of unique options. It was a journey getting here but I'm so glad we made it. If you're thinking of visiting on a Sunday, plan far ahead! We were left with a very early reservation not realizing that the trolley ride from the quarter would be almost 30 min plus a few mins walking with two small children. Needless to say we missed our reservation time so we were limited to less than an hour to dine. Luckily we came in knowing what we wanted and took little to no time to order. Food came out quick with the exception of my husband's steak&eggs that I didn't get to picture but it was worth the wait! He ordered it medium-well and the manager came to us to explain that he didn't like the cook on the first try and had them start over. That was very much appreciated!
