We tried this place out on a weekend morning about 9:30. Surprisingly we were seated fairly quickly for a party of 3. Unfortunately we were not impressed by any part of our visit. The dining room is WAY cramped making it uncomfortable. I realize it was busy but perhaps 1 less table or. Surprise- make the store part smaller so there is more room in the dining area. We all had breakfasts. My wife and I's coffee was tasteless and when poured looked like slightly tan water. I had biscuits and gravy with my meal. The gravy was very runny and lacking flavor. I make better gravy from the McCormick package. The "thick cut bacon" on the menu was paper thin. It tasted good but in no way "thick". The server was nice. At first we did not receive all we had ordered and we did not receive a fill up for our coffees. To me it is not what we expected. It seems this place needs help in all areas. read more

1st time to this Cracker Barrel. Only good thing was that we were seated quickly. Sat for a couple minutes when asked about drinks and if we were ready. Ordered coffee and oj, told waitress we needed a couple minutes to decide. This seemed to offen the waitress. Took several minutes for her to return. (They were moderately busy, but had open tables). Both my wife and I ordered biscuits and gravy, with extra gravy, with our meals. This came out several minutes before the rest of our food, minus the extra gravy. This was cold before the rest of the food arrived. I asked for honey and hot sauce. Hot sauce arrived after my eggs were cold, never got the honey for my grits. Finally got the extra gravy after everything that we wanted it for was cold and eaten. Coffee cups sat empty for a few minutes before we were offered refills. The food was flavorless, service was less than good. On the other hand, the OJ was good. I won't be back to this Cracker Barrel. read more

We arrived at 9 pm, they close at 10 pm, so we figured we had time to order food and be gone before then. Which is what happened. Unfortunately my husband had to send his chicken fried steak back because he asked for no gravy, he was served a new one in a few minutes. You could tell it had sat in the kitchen for quite some time. It was cold rubber like and tasted old. I ordered southern fried chicken and potatoes, both of which were cold and old- left over from earlier. If you're going to stay open until a certain time of evening or day for that matter, I expect fresh food to be served until closing time. Not precooked leftovers that didn't get ordered earlier. We told the cashier when she asked and she just said "oh sorry " will never return to the Bakersfield location. This place was SUPER. Great food and even better service from Alejandro N. But the highlight was my cashier Noah, who was a fantastic conversationalist and made a tourist like me feel very special. I realized I was 25 cents short on the 36-dollar transaction, and felt defeated since I was buying cup souvenirs for my mothers and couldn't afford both of them. Finally had the opportunity to have breakfast at the relatively new Cracker Barrel in town. The place gets an "A" for ambiance. Really enjoyed the country vibe that the place exudes. The gift shop is amazing. The service was good. Our server was attentive and accommodating. I ordered the Grandma's Sampler with French Toast and an Iced Caramel Latte. My husband had the blueberry pancakes. We also ordered a side of the fried apples and took home an order of beignets. The food was "okay." To be perfectly honest, I can name at least 3 local places that serve a better quality breakfast. My Iced Caramel Latte was pretty good. I enjoyed it. Grandma's Sampler: the strip of bacon was chewy, the slice of ham was dry, and the sausage patty was dry and chewy. There was nothing extraordinary about the French Toast. The biscuits were light, flaky, and buttery. Fried Apples were delicious. Soft, sweet with just the right hint of cinnamon. The beignets were good. Nothing noteworthy about them. My husband's Blueberry Pancakes were nice and moist and loaded with fresh blueberries. Overall dining experience was good. Unfortunately, the food was underwhelming. They burnt the macaroni for my kid, left off the gravy of my mashed potatoes and never checked on us once till we went up to a manager. We tried to flag the server down multiple times to no avail as our glasses sat empty and my throat was parched. We finally had to go to a manager and beg for water. The attitude of the server afterwards who suddenly realized we existed was dismissive as she made a half A attempt to maybe get a tip. I also asked if the gravy they left off the potatoes was an extra charge and her response was very callous. No offers to make it right. Back to my throat. It was dry because of the food quality and lack of gravy. More on food: the fried okra breading was so chewy we could barely eat it. Texture wise it was like rubber. The green beans were from a can or tasted that way. The turkey was covered in a miniscule amount of gravy to save corporate money apparently which contributed to throat dryness. I don't know if this is a regular thing but if you go to this place around 8 am to 9 am in the morning for breakfast. The women that are working in there are too busy conversing with each other and completely ignore us Look at the us two or three times maybe four times and still continue to ignore myself and my husband we ended up, leaving to say the least I hope nobody else has to go through this experience. It's hard to get business in that location as it is you guys really need to be more communicative with your customers instead of just ignoring them and acting like money doesn't matter at all. Nicest people are the ones who put your name down. Our service was okay... maybe we just got unlucky. Had super rude red head lady yell at us over asking her for the complimentary bread. You know I grew up on Cracker Barrel and most of the time we had breakfast. We waited I guess about a month after they have opened the let some of the Bakersfield craziness wear off. We arrived about 6:30-7pm and it was just the 2 of us. We were sat right away for a table set for 2. The server came by about 2 minutes later and said that she would be right back which she did and promptly took our drink order. Being from the South I went with the sweet tea which was awesome and made me a little home sick. I ordered the Southern style fried chicken which was a buttermilk batter and chose the hash brown casserole, ( this is a family favorite for pot lucks ) and coleslaw. The order took about 15 minutes to come out which nice and hot. The chicken was perfectly cooked and not over cooked at all. The chicken is boneless which is sometimes very easy to over cook but not in the case. The battered chicken was super crunchy which fried chicken should be. The pieces of chicken were a nice size so I was able to take some home for lunch the next day. The coleslaw was absolutely from the South which in Bakersfield is hard to fine a really good Southern Slaw. The meal comes with a corn muffin and biscuit as well. What an incredible disappointment. We gave it several weeks before going in so that I could avoid the early kinks. Maybe we should've waited another year or so. Our party ordered three meals. The Southern Fried Chicken was greasy and had as much breading as it had meat. It was served with steak fries which were obviously from frozen because the center was uncooked. An order of chicken strips was decent but still overly breaded. The adult macaroni and cheese entree was inedible and literally caused my 13-year-old (who loves mac and cheese) to throw up in his mouth. As a whole, the food is a sad combination of fatty and bland. Oh, the portions are rather small so you can add overpriced to the list of transgressions. The server was nice enough but we didn't get our biscuits until the third ask and then had to ask again for bread plates. I've eaten at Cracker Barrell elsewhere so I thought my expectations were reasonable. It wasn't exactly fine dining but the shortcomings didn't come close to this epic fail. read more

My husband and I visited last night for dinner. We got on the wait list at 5:45 pm with a 40 minute wait. We weren't seated until after 7pm. They're extremely busy, which is understandable since they are new. We both ordered breakfast, the food was okay, but nothing to make us come back. It was also very hot inside as well as insanely loud. After paying for our dinner, we went out to our car. We were parked right in front, in a handicapped spot. The online or phone service doesn't allow you to choose hash browns so I had to call in. After arriving the wait to pick up food was long..... there's more to the story but I don't have the time to go through the drama. I had some friends from LA visiting and I decided to take hem to breakfast at the newest breakfast place in town. Needless to say that my friends loved their food. Chicken fried Chicken gets five stars. My children on the other hand, not so much. Their pancakes were ok, the syrup was AMAZING, the biscuits and gravy as well. On the other hand, their hash browns had too many onions and were not cooked very well. Their sausage Patties did not taste like anything that we are used of, they had a different flavor and were red on the inside.If you decide to visit, go with the ham to be safe. I give that a 5/5. Unfortunately, this is the most disorganized and haphazard Cracker Barrel we've ever been to. Yes it's newly opened so of course it's going to be crowded. However, be advised that their online waiting list is NOT REAL. It does NOTHING to your wait. In fact, we were with other groups who had also waited 2 hours for a table and still never seated. We spoke to the mgr and he just said "we can't make people leave" the tables after they are done eating. The trouble is I walked through the dining room multiple times and that wasn't the issue. Empty tables abounded but it seemed like we were left in some never ending queue which was never going to get us a table. If you plan to go make sure you have a full day available. read more

My boyfriend and I went here on Friday night date night,since we have not try this place due to it being packed all the time when it open up few months ago. However,we decided to try last Friday and we have to say it was one of the worst services we had around town in a long time. After being seated,we wait 15mins or even longer before someone even came over to attend to us. We made our drink order and waited another 15mins before anyone came back to take our good order. Then our food came out like 40mins later,not to mention, we went at time where no one was really in the restaurant(slow night). We order dinner food and it was just alright;i was disappointed because hyped up this place to boyfriend who has never been about it due to i eat here all time when i went to college down south.
