I had the old fashioned lemonade and also the strawberry lemonade. Very refreshing and super sour. Loved it The portion sides of the foods were not the size of the Vegas crackle barrel and that's fine with me. I hate to waste food. The food was what I expected- Cozy sit by the fire style food. "BATHROOM CHECK" First time arriving here, was seated after about a 5/10 minute wait which is not bad was expecting longer actually but a few seconds after they seated us I started to get a bloody nose so I go straight to the restroom and NOT more than a couple minutes one of the employees comes in saying "Bathroom check!" And 2 more times they came in different employee, I was in there for about 15 minutes so I understand if they are checking for my well being but at least ask instead of yelling bathroom check, it felt like I was being rushed to get out. After I come out I tell one of the employees "I had a bloody nose that's why I was in there for so long man" and he replied "no problem". It felt like it was a problem lol. I was here last year when they were new and hit a few speed bumps, the same things are still not ironed out. Shortly after we ordered our food started coming out via expediters. We had not yet received our salad, appetizer and biscuits. The entree was hot but the sides barely warm. Our sever, Monica did not check back with us after the food was served and we were missing quite a few things from the order. No refills were offered, no pre-bussing the table and we were never offered desert (I was wanting to share a piece of pumpkin pie with my granddaughter). I was hoping things would get better but our server got nasty and "SHE" offered to get the manager. I spoke with Manny and let him know our woes and he said "I'll see what I can do". Never heard back from him. We did end up ordering some pie and received the check before the dessert arrived!?! We shopped at the gift shop before leaving and saw Manny again and asked why he did not get back with us. He said "The server was upset because I grabbed her wrist". WOW! My family went here for Easter brunch. My son and his family first time eating here. Upon arrival it was a little busy but when we reached the hostess Alisha she was so friendly and accommodating to get us sat fast this way my small granddaughters didn't have to wait. The table was a perfect spot with an infant and a toddler. The server was amazing from beginning to end! The server Barbara was pleasant and served us with a smile the whole time. The drinks came to table fast. The food was all hot and fresh. The homemade biscuits were delicious! The breakfast dishes were great but pancakes tasted the best which also came with a small maple syrup bottle. The experience was fantastic with Alisha and Barbara! The only disappointment was the cashier Matthew upon checking out to pay he snatched the receipt from my hand and then after paying there were questions to answer. I grew up in Georgia and would go to Cracker Barrel often. We go to Bakersfield twice a year to visit family and when I found out there's a CB there we've now made it a must every time we go. So I'm usually not a chain restaurant kind of gal. We had tried Cracker Barrel in Tennessee and enjoyed it. Decided to give our new home town location a try. Generous portions, and friendly staff. Tried the sampler dinner plate, and the seasonal chicken fried Turkey dish. Everything was prepared well. Price was reasonable. The sides are very good and a large selection to choose from. We have been going to this Cracker Barrel since the day it opened and I can honestly say it has gone downhill...pulled in this am, few cars out front, 3 people at different tables inside..waited about 10 minutes to get seated because Jack who was ringing up the few that left was also seated us. We did observe several waitress' clearing tables and they did look our way. Our table was dirty but Hope did wipe off a spot and said the night shift must have not done their jobs.I ordered Grandma's sampler with french toast and my spouse got the Old timers with biscuits and gravy..Hope said ,after she took our order, I will bring you a basket with some muffins..she brought out 4 biscuits and a small cup of gravy.Our food came out and I did find my "think" sliced bacon under my small piece of country ham..and the sausage, or I think thats what it was was hard.Hashbrown casserole was cold and my husbands was burned on top from being put under the salamander to warm it up..no biscuits were brought out to him.We did ask JACK when we paid and he said the basket that was brought out was our biscuits..2 for each of us to go with our meal.I told him I did not get biscuits with my breakfast, he said oh yes you did...dude, my breakfast came with french toast...no it did NOT. Charles wanted to try out Cracker Barrel, so we did. It wasn't very packed, so service was fast and friendly. The presentation of the atmosphere was warm and inviting, although it would have been better with an actual fire in the fireplace. As far as the food goes, it was bland tasting. So, if you're a person who likes to spice it up, this isn't going to be your gig. I ordered a side of toast to go with my Grandpa's County Fried Breakfast, and it was brought out ahead of the breakfast platter which confused me because I certainly didn't order it as an appetizer. Luckily, she took it back without complaint, but it made for an awkward moment and waste. I'm not entirely sure that we'll frequent this place again because, like I said, the food was bland tasting. Open for 4 days and I'm very disappointed. The layout isn't comfortable. It's very crowded and chaotic. The service was horrible and the food was lukewarm and not prepared correctly. My husband never received his salad either. I thought with it being brand new that it would have been better trying to get some return business. I'll have to think on that one. I had to ask a manager to get my granddaughter's food and to even get a to go box. Not impressed so far. read more

Zero stars if I could... because every time I come here the food and service gets worse. I used to love coming here for the chicken and dumplings but I don't plan on coming back. The last time I was in, it was empty and our waitress barely tended to us and my favorite entree was disgusting, it tasted like someone poured a whole bunch of salt in it. Wooo is right!! Went here twice thinking it was just a bad day the first time, buuuut, NO! Food is SO bad! Not sure how this place became a chain restaurant unless it's just the Bakersfield version that's bad and the rest are better. Anyway, both times we were here for breakfast and both times the food was barely edible! Most everything on the menu is fried food, which is fine except not a single thing ordered among the 6 people that ate with me could even chew their OVER cooked burned fried food! You could hammer a nail with the chicken strip pieces and the shrimp were like little burned hockey pucks!! The waitress came and ask how we were enjoying the food and all at once everyone started laughing! So so bad!!! The first time I was there I thought it was funny that a breakfast restaurant didn't have some form or eggs Benedict on the menu, but the second time answered THAT question! On the special menu this time was a biscuit eggs Benedict version so I ordered it! The waitress asked, how I wanted my eggs and I said, poached is fine, assuming that it was how everywhere makes eggs Benedict, buuuut NO again, she looked me dead in the face and said is over easy fine? Anyway, let's just say they can't even make the eggs correctly! Apparently over easy is too hard as well! Whites weren't cooked and Hollandaise sauce was a cheap very badly done version! Moral of the story, I could go on for half an hour but they are not even worth that much time! Everything we ordered, two different times in a row, were not even close to correctly cooked, mostly WAY over cooked! I'd fire whoever is in charge of the cooking cooking staff and actually hire someone that can actually cook an egg, that should be your first qualifying test!! I wouldn't feed this stuff to my dog! I heard multiple people around us talking about how bad the food was, so we weren't just the lucky ones! Good luck, you have been warned! If I could leave negative review numbers I would! I wish I could give separate reviews for food and service. I'll start with our server. She was amazing! Very sweet and attentive. She knew the menu forwards and backwards and did an absolutely amazing job. She gets a five star review for sure! And now the food. It was decent. We ordered two burgers, a chicken pot pie, and fried pickles. They brought out fresh warm biscuits as well. Everything was fine. But that is. It was just...fine. For the prices they charge, I'd expected to be more impressed with the food. The overall experience was ok. Our server was certainly the highlight of it. We've been once, and I'm honestly not sure if we'll go again. I'll be sticking with small mom and pop restaurants for the foreseeable future. read more

Got shorted on the Country Boy. Clearly says it comes with three eggs on the menu and the chain's website, but when I mentioned my plate only had two eggs the waiter was adamant that it came with only two eggs. I was sat in the corner of the restaurant and it seemed as if I had been forgotten about. A server from the next section noticed me, she was about to be off for the night and she came to see if I had been helped yet. She put my order in, checked in on me a couplel of times and made sure I was taken care of. I never saw my actual server but Destiny took good care of me. I love her team spirt and selfless attitude. This was our 1st visit. Party of 5. AMBIANCE: Being 1st time patrons, we had no clue as to what door to enter and not at all prepared to walk into a cramped, overly populated with STUFF everywhere, STORE. We initially thought we'd entered thru the wrong door. It would be nice to forego that store entrance. We just came to eat. I can imagine people with ambulatory aids, wheelchairs, and large parties having a challenge maneuvering through all the displays, racks and shelves of stuff. SERVICE: Seated fairly quickly. Then allowed to sit and wait without being approached by wait staff; without being asked about beverages. Twelve minutes in, Another party of about 8 was seated across from us AND almost immediately was waited upon for beverages AND food. We still hadn't even been approached. We contemplated leaving as we wrestled with the optics: we were five various shades of colors versus a newly seated party with no one of our colors. We'd finally been approached by a wait staff and ordered our beverages and food. We waited. That party of 8 received their food shortly after we had ordered. I remarked how good their pork chops looked and was anticipating receiving the same. Awhile later, an employee, not sure if they were a manager or not, approached me and disclosed that the pork chops were out. I'd have to order something different. Again, the optics. I silently seethed w/anger. The employee saved the evening by offering us dessert, on-the-house. FOOD: Decent portion sizes. My kids remarked "there's no love in the food". This can be attributed to the apparent use of canned green beans, dehydrated cheese "boxed" tasting Mac and Cheese, and dry stale bread. SUMMATION: Overall, the food wasn't bad, but we know what NOT to order, should there be a next time. The initial prolonged/passed-over wait incident could've absolutely been the makings of a serious issue, phone call, complaint, and scathing social platform reviews. We were in the company of our kids and a guest and ultimately endeavored to be positive and respectful. read more

I ordered grandmas breakfast! The food was horrible. The hash browns were the worst I've ever had! They were the baked hash browns with onions and cheese. I asked the waitress if they had a little bit of onions and she said yes! Once I got my food, I tasted them, 80% of the first bite was onions!!!!!! I have eaten at the restaurant and twice ordered from DoorDash. When I dined in the restaurant you could tell the chicken had been sitting out for awhile. Dried and hard skin on the chicken. Fried okra was cold. The waitress was very friendly which was nice. The two times I ordered from DoorDash the chicken was okay however the mashed potatoes were cold and bland. The second time same thing except this time the okra was obviously old and they gave me 9 little pieces. Again the mashed potatoes were tasteless and cold. Food was outstanding! Service was perfect, meaning just as we needed something someone would ask if we needed anything. This spot has different waiters/waitresses serving tables. Like a teamwork environment, I absolutely love it! There is a store upon entry and then behind it is the restaurant. You get to do a little shopping before and or after you eat a meal.
