Very disappointing experience. A friend of mine ordered the steak and shrimp entrée and asked for his steak medium rare, but it came out well done. The shrimp didn't even arrive with the meal. On top of that, it took over 35 minutes for our food to come out, which is unacceptable. We had to ask twice about the missing shrimp before anything was done. When we finally asked to speak to a manager, our server, Danielle B., rushed off and came back with the shrimp wrapped to-go. It was pretty clear that once the word "manager" was mentioned, she hurried to grab the shrimp instead of actually getting a manager. No manager ever came to the table, and there was no attempt to make the situation right. To make things worse, when we got back to our office across the street and opened the container, the shrimp we were given to-go was ice cold. Slow service, an incorrect order, missing items, and poor handling of the situation. Not a good experience. read more

Point: I have loved Cracker Barrel for generations, since we first discovered them in the South in the early '90s. Counterpoint: The recent rebranding attempt. Turns out that CB has not fully undone the rebranding. You will see places where the logo no longer has an old man by the barrel. The triangle games at the tables no longer say "Four or more you're just plain ig-no-ra-moose." I miss that. They went PC. More importantly, a couple of things here I never encountered previously: someone to greet us as we walked in, the ability to pay from your table instead of up front, and a completely revamped menu. So, the menu has a lot of new dishes, a section with the old favorites - both for the mains and the sides - but I definitely did not have the comfort level here that I'm used to at a CB. Food? I'd say we're still where CB has always been. No change to my fried okra. They accidentally brought a second mac & cheese, let us keep it. They brought cornbread and biscuits while we waited (I asked), and then another bowl with the meal - let us keep it. Very nice! Cornbread still as addictive as ever, biscuits nice and soft. The mac is OK, maybe better if you upgrade with the bacon bits. My third side - I went up for onion petals, and those are mostly breading. Skip those, even if the dip was nice. Get the dip with something else. Too full for dessert, though they have ones I remember and new ones as I figured. The special seasonal lemonade - I think it was strawberry peach limeade - was interesting, the lime threw things a bit but I appreciated the "different" flavor and there was totally puree in there, strawberry seeds I could taste. We stopped in to have an early dinner and I was completely blown away by the exceptional service we received tonight. I didn't have a good experience last time and was hesitant to return. ALLISON OUR SERVER WAS INCREDIBLE!!!!! She was so warm and pleasant and made the experience memorable. Food is important but the service can make or break a meal out. She did such a great job!!! Stopped in for lunch at Cracker Barrel in Clinton NJ. Just off 78 in a large shopping center sits one of my favorite places. I got crispy tender dippers with fries, seasoned rice and biscuits. Was seated promptly and hit the usual awesome service. Tenders were yummy as were the fries and biscuits. Seasoned rice was bland so I skipped it. Besides I was too full to eat it. The place wasn't busy going it picks up now that the original logo is back. As always hit the shop to buy candy goodies. Sadly no vanilla moon pies. Plenty of parking. I had a lunch last Monday here on the way to PA. My image of Cracker Barrel was that slow service but I get solid southern family style warm food. My image was right. Though server young lady was very good but slow overall. Food we get was nothing special but edible and fill fee for the time being. The restaurant, store, and parking lot are very much like every CB but it's still a good time. I came for the campfire meals, and they did not disappoint. Due to their nature of being prepared in foil, we literally only waited 10 minutes between parking, seating and getting the food to our table. And the chicken is perfection along with the veggies all soaking up that chicken juice. Service was very prompt with refills, paying is very easy by QR code or by store register, and it's good food quickly. Cracker Barrels have similar layouts - rocking chairs out front, a country store then the dining areas. Thank goodness for the store bec. wait for a table that night was 40min. Walked around, bought a bottle of sarsaparilla (found out it's just from Whitestone, NY) and Bazooka drink (tasted like the gum, but a sip was enough.) Both too sweet! Also some holiday decor. Finally, got a text saying our table was ready. Many empty tables so wondered why the long wait. My husband was told that it was to not overwhelm the kitchen. However, I would have appreciated being sat at a table with some biscuits and butter and beverages to bide the time, rather than just waiting around, esp when hungry. Anyway, pretty big menu, good prices. Have an option for 2 or 3 sides with your entree, premium sides at addtl. cost. I liked my meal- country fried steak with gravy, sides of dumplins (in a creamy sauce), and turnip greens (with shredded country ham). Loved their large buttermilk pancakes, served with a small bottle of syrup. Their biscuits were soft and flaky. Portion of mac n cheese side was little though. Everyone was satisfied with their picks. Service is great- the staff in the front, the store and our server. A mistake with a side was quickly corrected. If all you're looking for is a decent meal at a great price along with usually great service then you'll never be disappointed at Cracker Barrel. Another huge plus is breakfast is served any time of the day or night. So if you're a fan of breakfast without actually having to be up and motivated enough to head out during actual breakfast hours, then you surely will enjoy visiting. Walking into any Cracker Barrel you will be met by some of the most outstanding smells. I really wanted to like this place, given the store is always a fun place to buy some weird things dating back to the 60s-80s childhood memories and other strange items. However, there are some real issues with this place. First off this place gets a decent crowd b/c it's located on a highway in the middle of nowhere between Easton and the more populated towns of eastern/central NJ. That means a lot of drivers stop here (and tour buses at times too) in addition to some locals. It gets busy, but the problem is the service at this place is slow AF and cannot keep up with the influx of people. In both visits the food took forever to come. The people were friendly about it but trust me you're going to wait a long time for anything to show up on your table, which isn't great especially if you're bringing hungry kids to the restaurant. Also the food itself is just average, although some of the comfort food stuff like the chicken soup was nice. But even though the price is reasonable it's really not worth the hassle of the potentially long wait and inconsistency of the dishes (i.e. tough as leather steaks) to bother coming here unless you have no choice. You're better off either waiting to hit up another NJ town if you're going east or Easton if you're going west on the highway to get a bite to eat. read more

Oh where do I start on this one. We were hungry on a road trip so we stopped in. Bad decision. We ordered a vegetable plate and a combination meal that had biscuits and gravy and meatloaf. Service was slow and terrible. Instead of the teenager waiter telling us that they were still making the meatloaf, he brought out our food piece meal, even getting some of the options of the vegetable plate wrong. We were fully done eating before the meatloaf even arrived at our table. There was no offer to take it off the bill, or even ask us if we still wanted it considering we were done eating and asking for the bill. It's a nice theme restaurant that's made to look like a southern restaurant/ general store although I been to a few southern restaurants in the real south over the years and never came across anything that looked close to this. The general store section is my favorite it sells a lot of weird nicknacks and there's no theme to anything. I have found some cool stuff here from time to time. I was seated immediately and the waitress was friendly and attentive. I started off with the Biscuit Beignets it wasn't bad but felt like it was a donut package you get at the supermarket and all they do is toss some powdered sugar in it and serve.My main dish was the Bacon & Egg Hashbrown Casserole the fried onions were good but the rest of it was mostly bland with a little spice here and there. Been to plenty of Cracker Barrel and this one doesn't take the cake. Cracker Barrel is known for their breakfast, however for some odd reason I decided to get something completely different and out of the ordinary. Cracker Barrel usually has monthly specials and the pictures make the special look like it's worth a try. DO NOT try the camp fire steak special. It was completely not worth a try at all. The picture showed maybe 10 pieces of steak and tons of carrots and potatoes. The portion I was given was maybe 5 pieces of cube steak, 2 carrots and 2 potatoes. The entree was completely bland with no flavor. Stick with their pancakes, hash brown casserole, corn, anything other than their specials. Service was alright and ambience is the same looking. My friends and I went here for lunch after peaches picking nearby. I love the Cracker Barrel restaurant chain. It's one of my favorite wholesome American eatin' when we are on the road. The prices are reasonable and there is a dish for everyone. The hostess informed us the chicken pot pie was the special of the day. All three of us ordered it. It was delicious. Never have I ever had a bad experience at Cracker Barrel. Every location is on point, great service, and fantastic food. Our server Larry truly went above and beyond. He made sure all of orders were correct and checked on us consistently to make sure we had enough biscuits, sauces, and beverages at all times. We did have a bit of a wait at first so we enjoyed the rocking chairs and checkers out front and before we knew it our table was ready. The inside of the restaurant has their usual old timey feel and is warm and inviting. The parking lot here was easy to navigate and was not the normal chaos it usually is. Coming back from the Poconos, this Cracker Barrel is right off I-78 if the hunger hits you. Or if you're heading out early on a road trip to Pennsylvania and you want a hearty breakfast, the Barrel has you covered. A good, down-home, affordable meal is what you're in for. After our impromptu weekday ski trip, we looked to grab some dinner before heading home and Cracker Barrel always hits the spot, no matter where we are because consistency is their jam. And their jam is pretty good on the biscuits and mini corn muffins, too! My two favorite menu items are the Spicy Grilled Catfish (not very spicy) and the Meatloaf. Matched up with 2-3 sides and that's a meal. I'll rotate between niblit corn, mashed potatoes, hash brown casserole, mac & cheese, fried okra, grits and turnip greens depending on my mood and if it's breakfast, lunch or dinner. Ask what soups they have for the day, but they will usually have chicken noodle as a choice. Get a bottomless iced sweet tea too or an iced peach tea. My son went for the new special, Smokey Southern Style Grilled Chicken Fillet with Cole Slaw & Loaded Mashed Potatoes and our friend got the Chicken Fried Steak he's been drooling over all week. The latest promotion (which we went for) is to take a meal home for $6 each with a choice of meat and side combo. The choices are meatloaf, homestyle breaded chicken fillet and southern style marinated grilled chicken with a side of mashed potatoes or mac & cheese. This chain used to be my absolute favorite chain restaurant. It was the only place that made meatloaf that I enjoyed. I'm not sure what happened between the last time I was here and now, but the quality of the food and the service is completely abysmal. The food came out either cold or the temperature of molten lava. Mashed potatoes were cold and obviously sat for quite a while. Fried pickles and green beans came out very hot. Chicken and dumplings were cold and obviously also sat for a while before being brought out. Was given food encrusted cutlery and the small plates we asked for came to the table with leftover food already on them. Had to ask for clean cutlery and small plates twice as our waitress forgot to bring them. Overall the experience was disheartening and disgusting. Good luck getting served literally anything without a waitresses finger halfway stuck in what theyre serving. Grits? Half the finger in it while carrying it. Gravy? Half a finger in it as they set it down. Biscuits and gravy? They will make u ask them multiple times for it. This was my third and last time ever giving this place a shot and mind u my expectations are insanely low. 1st time was great around the past holiday season had something super limited like a crispy turkey cutlet. 2nd time was seafood i couldnt even eat bc of the smell and taste and when i questioned my server nonchalantly his response was he never eats there. Upon seating, the dining area was half empty. I assumed the wait was due to short staffing, I won't hold that against them. There seemed to be enough servers but the service was so slow. We ordered and it took entirely too long for the food to arrive. The food was terrible. One meal was the wrong item and cold. It was not worth sending it back. I think I've been to this location a few times and each time it's a treat. New Yorkers find Cracker Barrel to be somewhat a novelty. The food is decent and reminds you of home cooking but the store. The store is where it's at. And even though we thought this would be a quick stop on our way to Hershey, we ended up spending almost 3 hours here. The latest thing we have tried on the menu that we never had before was the fried pickles and the loaded hash brown tater tots. And although this wasn't my usual hash brown casserole, it was still just as delicious. As for lunch, I got the chicken sandwich, which I believe could rival any of those other famous ones!! Finally, at any Cracker Barrel I've been too, you are going to get service from some of the nicest people around. From the host, to the server and even the people who work the register in the store, these people are always patient and kind. Counting down the days til my next visit. I love coming to Cracker Barrel. I don't get a chance to go very often, since I don't live near one, but when I get that chance, it's always a great time. They have so many good menu items here. Since we came in November, I tried their seasonal country fried turkey meal, which was delicious. Ny girlfriend got the classic southern fried chicken meal. This was also a great choice and tasted great. We tried the sides of mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, a casserole, and loaded baked potato. Everything was delicious. Cracker Barrel in my past was a guilty pleasure. Perfect for indulging in southern comfort food. However fast forward 15 yrs and doesn't do it for me as much anymore. Perhaps my diet and taste have changed. Got the hamburger steak with gravy and sautéed onions with a side of fried okra and sweet corn. It was basically a burger patty which was a bit too well done. I originally ordered mashed potatoes but they ran out. The okra were these tiny deep fried morsels and kernel corn seemed like straight from a can. My kids did enjoy the Mac and cheese and the country fried steak. Hubs was not too impressed by the fried chicken. We arrived for a late lunch around 2:30 and still waited about 30 mins to get seated. Then to find tons of empty seating on our way to our table. Must be short staffed. Not my favorite. read more

WORST DINING EXPERINCE EVER! After all these years of avoiding Cracker Barrell like the plague, we decided to try this chain for the very first time. BAD DECISION! When we arrived, I was very impressed with the cute store and couldn't wait to explore it after dinner and spend a small fortune. The Host escorted us to our table. After that it all went downhill. We sat our table for about 15 to 20 minutes We put in an order for 2 drinks and 2 apps; told our Server we would order our entrees halfway through eating our apps. We do this so we are not rushed though the meal. Our Server came back with our drinks and then disappeared into the atmosphere, because we didn't get the apps until 20 minutes later. Which were onion petal and cheese bits. Really how long does it take to deep fry or air fry them 5 to 8 minutes tops. Before we received our apps, I had to get up from our table and go into their kitchen to find a staff member to check on our order. Once our Server returned with the apps, I told them to retun my app because I wasn't going to eat anything that came out of their kitchen now. At that time, we decided it was time to leave. However, I did want the Manager to know what an awful experience we had. No, I did not become a Karen, I politely informed him of the bad service. To the Manager's credit, he was very professional, polite and respectful. He apologized and took back the bill for the 2 drinks and 1 app. Thank you very much for that. To the Cracker Barrell management, if you don't want to serve someone have your Host say "We are really short staffed and the wait will be close to 2 hours." I think most people would not wait and leave, we would have. PROBLEM SOLVED! I have heard some of the bad experiences the Gay community has had with Cracker Barrell. This is a typical Cracker Barrel establishment with the store attached. The service is usually pretty good, although some servers are definitely slacking. One of the four-star servers wears a reddish apron instead of the brown ones. I recommend her. The daily meal promotions are somewhat of a joke, because if you get there after 4PM, they will be sold out of them. My wife and I eat here a few times a year and are rarely disappointed. However, try not to go there near closing time as coffee won't be the freshest. I recommend the hamburger steak (smothered) and the Grandma's sampler. I avoid any of the fried chicken meals as the cooks either send it out undercooked or super overdone. The store is clean, but seems to be understaffed these days. read more
