    Crispy tenders, fries and rice

Stopped in for lunch at Cracker Barrel in Clinton NJ. Just off 78 in a large shopping center sits one of my favorite places. I got crispy tender dippers with fries, seasoned rice and biscuits. Was seated promptly and hit the usual awesome service. Tenders were yummy as were the fries and biscuits. Seasoned rice was bland so I skipped it. Besides I was too full to eat it. The place wasn't busy going it picks up now that the original logo is back. As always hit the shop to buy candy goodies. Sadly no vanilla moon pies. Plenty of parking. Please patronize this place for the friendly hard working folks there.

I had a lunch last Monday here on the way to PA. My image of Cracker Barrel was that slow service but I get solid southern family style warm food. My image was right. Though server young lady was very good but slow overall. Food we get was nothing special but edible and fill fee for the time being. Many of Cracker Barrel locations are highway side and they should learn to serve faster at those locations. Also I am sure their menu selection and quality could be improved. Then many customers including me would give higher rate for this chain.

The restaurant, store, and parking lot are very much like every CB but it's still a good time. I came for the campfire meals, and they did not disappoint. Due to their nature of being prepared in foil, we literally only waited 10 minutes between parking, seating and getting the food to our table. And the chicken is perfection along with the veggies all soaking up that chicken juice. Service was very prompt with refills, paying is very easy by QR code or by store register, and it's good food quickly. I love their Southern decor vibe and there are plenty of tables and a wait time on the website. Since we didn't have to wait for a table or for the food, I was a happy camper.

When we are driving South, Cracker Barrel is a chain option we consider. Found the food really salty many years ago, but we tried again and better now. Cracker Barrels have similar layouts - rocking chairs out front, a country store then the dining areas. Thank goodness for the store bec. wait for a table that night was 40min. Walked around, bought a bottle of sarsaparilla (found out it's just from Whitestone, NY) and Bazooka drink (tasted like the gum, but a sip was enough.) Both too sweet! Also some holiday decor. Finally, got a text saying our table was ready. Many empty tables so wondered why the long wait. My husband was told that it was to not overwhelm the kitchen. However, I would have appreciated being sat at a table with some biscuits and butter and beverages to bide the time, rather than just waiting around, esp when hungry. Anyway, pretty big menu, good prices. Have an option for 2 or 3 sides with your entree, premium sides at addtl. cost. I liked my meal- country fried steak with gravy, sides of dumplins (in a creamy sauce), and turnip greens (with shredded country ham). Loved their large buttermilk pancakes, served with a small bottle of syrup. Their biscuits were soft and flaky. Portion of mac n cheese side was little though. Everyone was satisfied with their picks. Service is great- the staff in the front, the store and our server. A mistake with a side was quickly corrected. The take-home meals are small portions but only $6.

It's a nice theme restaurant that's made to look like a southern restaurant/ general store although I been to a few southern restaurants in the real south over the years and never came across anything that looked close to this. The general store section is my favorite it sells a lot of weird nicknacks and there's no theme to anything. I have found some cool stuff here from time to time. I was seated immediately and the waitress was friendly and attentive. I started off with the Biscuit Beignets it wasn't bad but felt like it was a donut package you get at the supermarket and all they do is toss some powdered sugar in it and serve. My main dish was the Bacon & Egg Hashbrown Casserole the fried onions were good but the rest of it was mostly bland with a little spice here and there. My verdict is I would go to the cracker barrel for their general store side more than the food. But if I was pressed for time I would go to the restaurant side just to get a meal

Been to plenty of Cracker Barrel and this one doesn't take the cake. Cracker Barrel is known for their breakfast, however for some odd reason I decided to get something completely different and out of the ordinary. Cracker Barrel usually has monthly specials and the pictures make the special look like it's worth a try. DO NOT try the camp fire steak special. It was completely not worth a try at all. The picture showed maybe 10 pieces of steak and tons of carrots and potatoes. The portion I was given was maybe 5 pieces of cube steak, 2 carrots and 2 potatoes. The entree was completely bland with no flavor. Stick with their pancakes, hash brown casserole, corn, anything other than their specials. Service was alright and ambience is the same looking. This review was mainly about their special of the month that they were running.

I wish I could say I enjoyed my meal at this location. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. I was very disappointed that the dishes were very salty. Our orders were mixed up. Not sure whose fault it was but we didn't enjoy our food. The waitress was attentive and apologized for the inconvenience for mixed up since our dishes came out late as well. I have been to many locations. I always love the food. Sadly, I was disappointed. I was looking forward to their pancakes. However, I do like decoration in restaurants since it was the holidays. Crackers Barrel always have cool things they sell.

My friends and I went here for lunch after peaches picking nearby. I love the Cracker Barrel restaurant chain. It's one of my favorite wholesome American eatin' when we are on the road. The prices are reasonable and there is a dish for everyone. The hostess informed us the chicken pot pie was the special of the day. All three of us ordered it. It was delicious. The crust was cooked to perfection. The inside was filled with a lot chicken and vegetables. I enjoyed it a lot. I'm glad that I went with the unsweetened ice tea. My friend ordered the peach one and she told me that it was too sweet for her. I would definitely go to another Cracker Barrel in the future.

Never have I ever had a bad experience at Cracker Barrel. Every location is on point, great service, and fantastic food. Our server Larry truly went above and beyond. He made sure all of orders were correct and checked on us consistently to make sure we had enough biscuits, sauces, and beverages at all times. We did have a bit of a wait at first so we enjoyed the rocking chairs and checkers out front and before we knew it our table was ready. The inside of the restaurant has their usual old timey feel and is warm and inviting. The parking lot here was easy to navigate and was not the normal chaos it usually is. Bathrooms were immaculate at this location as well and their gift shop had so many wonderful options.

The grilled oysters were pure perfection, garlicky, cheesy, and served piping hot! Paired with crusty bread to soak up every bit of that savory goodness. Just saying the word jambalaya makes me want to start singing ("Jambalaya and a crawfish pie and a fillet gumbo 'Cause tonight, I'm gonna see my ma cher amio"), and once you taste it, you'll want to sing too. Shrimp, chicken, and andouille sausage with rice--a timeless Creole classic. I couldn't resist these perfect sweet oysters with crispy fries, homemade coleslaw, and tartar sauce! We finished with some very tasty sugary beignets--most of which made their way back home as we were very full. I'm consistently impressed, so when one of my cousins alerted me to the opening of Crawdaddy's I was instantly intrigued. Though I can take or leave Southern and Creole food, the great reviews were enough for me to want to check this place out - so my siblings, cousins, and I made plans to grab dinner here. Located on Wheeler Ave amongst several other businesses, Crawdaddy's welcomes you before you even enter by piping music outside. As we entered, we were greeted by the host who invited us to sit in the lounge while our table was being prepared. The lounge was off the entrance and had access to a window which peeked into the bar - it was small but effective for those waiting for a table and wanting a quick drink. The decor in the restaurant was well done - there was a good amount of flair on the wall but not so much that it was tacky or over the top. The tables were covered with brown paper and there were some random Mardi Gras beads placed there - this seemed a little sophomoric, but they're new so I can see this leveling up over time. We started with drinks; I had the lavender lemonade which had fresh flavor (I'm fighting for that Spring weather). The menu is broken up into apps and salads, po' boys, fry baskets, and roux and rice. We decided to start by splitting a few apps: dirty fries with beef debris, hush puppies, crawfish mac and cheese, and pimiento cheese. Everything was tasty - the standouts for me were the mac and cheese and the fries - the beef was optional and I definitely recommend going with it. The hush puppies were a little too bready for me (that might be my lack of eating them talking), but they came with a blueberry compound butter which was a nice touch. The pimiento cheese came with saltine crackers which was...a choice, but the cheese itself was good. For my main I went with the fried shrimp po' boy - this was quite massive and contained a lot of shrimp (not complaining). The bread was soft and it was paired with a creamy aioli and pickles - kinda messy but well worth the extra napkins. You could add fries for $4 (oof), but I opted not to which in retrospect was a good idea because the sandwich was filling enough. For dessert we went with beignets (shocking I know) in two varieties: classic powdered sugar and cinnamon sugar. Both were tasty - I mean it's fried dough so how bad can it be. The cinnamon ones came with a chocolate sauce which was a nice complement. Service was great - from the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted and all of the staff we interacted with afterward were very friendly. Food also came out at a good pace which is always a plus. Overall, I had a great experience at Crawdaddy's. While I don't run to this type of cuisine, they are serving good food here. If I ever found myself here again I wouldn't complain.

We were actually supposed to go on vacation but apocalyptic weather at our destination meant that every flight to that region was cancelled or severely delayed and ain't nobody got time for that so we decided to take a staycation instead. It felt only right to do the thing we would have done on vacation and go out for dinner. TBH we're old now so vacation or not, we eat on the earlier side of things. I think we went at around 5:30pm. Ample amount of seating available at that time. They have quite a large menu with many intriguing options. Unfortunately, only vegetarian main I recall was the mac and cheese. Instead, I settled on the santa fe salad for my main and GF the lettuce tacos for hers. The appetizer menu was particularly appetizing but we had to settle on two so we went with the spicy cauliflower and brie-stuffed pretzel. The spicy cauliflower was flavored aggressively, in a positive kind of way. The accompanying ranch brought everything together. You also can't go wrong with a brie stuffed pretzel. I don't typically like sweet in what is traditionally a savory flavor profile but the fig jam really added a welcome new dimension. Santa fe salad was gigantic. I actually was able to eat the rest of it for dinner on the following night. Absolutely loaded with goodies like avocado, corn, cheese, black beans, scallions, tomatoes. What a combo of flavors and textures in that thing. GF enjoyed all of the tacos except for nashville hot chicken but she isn't a big fan of chicken to begin with. I was especially impressed by their drink menu. They have a literal "smoked" menu which I could not pass up. I went with the southern smoke which is out of character for me because I typically don't get bourbon (for a reason...and i suffered later). This drink packed a fucking PUNCH. My goodness. There is no candy land bullshit juice drinks here, you definitely get your money's worth. There was a touch of a time period between when I finished my drink and was asked if I wanted another but at least they did ask. Ultimately a good experience. I do wish they had some vegetarian mains but if you aren't vegetarian and like southern food you would probably enjoy tremendously.

It is a fairly large space with plenty of seating and a bar and felt spacious and clean. Our server Fernanda was very friendly and checked in with us regularly to see how we were enjoying the food as it came out. I started with the duck salad and had the sauerbraten for my entree. The duck salad was tasty with a nice dressing, my only complaint is that it came with 4 thin slices of duck (maybe a bite each). It definitely could have benefited from more duck, especially for a $23 salad. That said, I liked the blue cheese, apples, and cranberries that went with it. My entree was definitely the largest of the group and came with two huge thick potato pancakes, a hefty serving of red cabbage and a good portion of beef. I really enjoyed the dish and was pretty full afterwards. I would absolutely recommend this dish and eat it again. For dessert we tried their special, a mango cake which was very light and pleasant albeit a bit sweet. I would suggest checking/asking about portion sizes before you order as some dishes are smaller than others (the grilled shrimp appetizer is only 4 shrimp, the clams casino is 5 small/medium clams and the crab cake entree is two small to medium sized crab cakes with no sides). So I can see how some people are frustrated with the portions based on the prices. That being said, I would absolutely recommend both the duck salad and sauerbraten.

It came with two shrimp and "four" scallops, which was two scallops cut horizontally prior to cooking and seared. Scallops were complete rubber and tasted like ammonia, and the shrimp were extremely overcooked. The risotto itself was tasty and I would have it again, but for $40 it was not an acceptable dish.
