On my way to brunch at Cracker Barrel
    Sylvia K.

I will always recommend the good old country store. Nothing like it. I love everything about it. My fav is the rainbow trout with broccoli. Breakfast is always great. Steak and eggs!! I've never ever had an issue. Chicken Pot PieChicken and DumplingsGrilled Sirloin SteakMomma 's Pancake BreakfastVegetable Omelette and I can go on and on. Just try it for yourself. I've been there with friends , family, school outings, after church Sunday brunch. Seriously, try it for yourself. They will lot disappoint.

The coating on the fish fry is light and crispy and oh so good!

We had another excellent lunch at Cracker Barrel today and our server Felicia was fantastic! I'm not normally a big fan of the giant chains but this particular Cracker Barrel hit all the marks! Friendly greeting when we walked in, immediate seating and quick friendly service. The fish fry is crazy good! Four stars cuz of the luke warm fries and not so good coffee!

Dry dusty stuffing. Not sure if it was even cooked

Giving our waitress the one star. Food was horrible and small portions. I ordered turkey dinner which states sweet potatoe pie with it. got the worst stuffing. It wasn't cooked. It was like dust on my plate. The dinner says sweet potato casserole and one side. Waitress stated you get two sides. I got dry stuffing and green beans which were thrown into my apples. Menu Should state you get two sides and don't put sweet potatoe comes with the turkey. This is my 5th visit and it just gets worse. Husband got Chewy roast beef. Come on you guys can do better. We probably won't come back. See picture of stuffing

Idk if the server was new, but wow she was super forgetful sadly. We repeatedly had to ask for condiments, silverware, and drink refills. I asked for the eggs Benedict with ham, and it came out with bacon. It took a while for it to be corrected. I then also realized they didn't put hollandaise sauce. By this time I had already waited so long my food became cold. I usually have a great experience here, but idk what was going on.

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, 1175 Palm Bay Rd, Melbourne, FL 32905 2- Stars (Chain Restaurant Review) While they've been around since 1969, Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, known colloquially as Cracker Barrel exploded about 25 years or so ago and began popping up all over the country. Whether you were in Sop Choppy, FL, or French Lick, IN you always got a consistent 4-star meal. Everything on the menu seemed delicious, and you couldn't go wrong. Apparently, things have either changed chain wide or just the one I visited on Palm Bay Rd as I did not have that experience. My waitstaff was Melissa. Melissa is a 4-star apron all the way. I kid, she was sluggish and somewhat inattentive, reminiscent of a Xenopus stuck in the mud. At first, I thought it was due to the early hour on the clock, but Melissa may be ready to throw in the towel. Even Tom Brady knew when to hang up the cleats (albeit a year late). I ordered the Build Your Own Home Style Breakfast with Hamburger Steak (redundant?), hash brown casserole, grits, biscuits and a slice of grilled sourdough. I eased my bulk back into my chair, snapped a few pictures and waited for Melissa to return with my grub. While everything looked as it should, downright delicious, that's about where the old Cracker Barrel stopped. The saving grace here and the reason for the 2 stars is the hamburger steak and grits saved the day, but not by much. The slice of sourdough, requested grilled, was obviously toasted and burnt at that. The hash brown casserole tasted like last night's leftovers haphazardly thrown together and microwaved. I also assume the same can be said for the biscuits as Matthew Tkachuck could use them for practice (go Panthers!). The Big Boy says, "WT heck happened here? 10 plus times of sliding quality and miserable waitstaff. Skip it until things return to normal."

Never thought I would be raving about eggs Benedict from here, but omg! The new menu item is fantastic. They put seasonings in the hollandaise sauce that really made it yummy! Service was fast as usual and so nice. It is a little noisy, but we expected that. Rock on for stepping up your breakfast game!

Chicken and dumplin's and a side of fried apples
    Courtney W.

Stopped for lunch on a Thursday! Love Cracker Barrel for consistent food that's hearty and satisfying. Chicken and dumplin's is such a classic here. Weekday lunch is $6.99 and comes with one side and bread of choice. The dish is a perfect portion for lunch. Nice tender chunks of chicken and the dumplin pieces are the perfect texture. I got a side of fried apples, which is the best side at Cracker Barrel in my opinion. It's like apple pie filling, warm and sweet and comforting. Cornbread muffins are excellent. The outside is crispy and it comes with butter and honey. My dad got the country fried steak, which he really enjoyed. It was topped with white gravy. He had turnip greens and green beans and finished all of it! He also got an orange mimosa which he enjoyed. Our waitress was very pleasant and food came out fast. Great lunch option if traveling along I-95!

Sampler platter. Items are full size!
    Michelle B.

You can never go wrong with Cracker Barrel, and this location is always top notch. The service is always friendly as well as very helpful attendants in the store side. I have also purchased (and been gifted) many delightful home goods. Seasonal items are always fun to pick up after the holiday at a deep discount, but the inventory is limited so I would not recommend to sleep on anything you couldn't live without. My go to is usually Uncle Hershel's Favorite for breakfast and Chicken and Dumplings for lunch. I recently couldn't decide when I went for an early lunch and ended up asking for a sampler. I could not believe the items were all full size portions! You better believe I took some to-go. Never a bad experience!

The place feels like a blend of an old Key West bar and a cozy island tavern, with warm wood, nautical touches, and Hemingway memorabilia everywhere you look. It has that relaxed island vibe where you immediately want to sit back, slow down, and enjoy the experience. The food was outstanding. We started with a couple small bites and everything came out hot and perfectly prepared. The croquetas were fantastic, crispy on the outside with a creamy, savory ham filling. The empanadas were golden and flaky with a rich filling and a great dipping sauce. For the main course I went with the Cuban sandwich, and it was excellent. Perfectly pressed bread with just the right crunch, stacked with pork, ham, Swiss, pickles, and mustard. Exactly what you hope for when ordering a Cuban. Then came dessert, which completely stole the show. The sweet plantain bread pudding was incredible. Warm, rich, and topped with whipped cream and caramel drizzle. It's one of those desserts where you keep saying "just one more bite" until it's gone. I paired it with a café con leche, which was smooth, bold, and the perfect complement to the sweetness. The service was just as impressive. Friendly, attentive, and relaxed without hovering. Drinks stayed filled, food came out quickly, and the whole meal felt easy and enjoyable. Between the great food, welcoming service, and the unique island tavern atmosphere, Hemingway's is easily one of the best dining spots in the area. If you're looking for a place with real character and fantastic food, this one is absolutely worth the visit. We'll definitely be back.

**INITIAL REVIEW**…read more Most of my fellow Yelpers know if food were categorized by a genre, breakfast and brunch has a special place in my heart. Ergo, I am on the constant search for more breakfast and brunch places to add to my repertoire. With that in mind, I must stress that Historic Downtown Melbourne a.k.a. Melbourne Main Street has an amazing number of breakfast and brunch places. But the one I admire the most is The Roots Restaurant Tavern, which I will shorthand simply to The Roots for the remainder of this review. Though an address is provided, it must be stressed The Roots is a little "off the mainstreet" of Melbourne Main Street. Just west of the train tracks, the road splits in which the northernly direction is the continuation of New Haven Ave. or the actual Melbourne Main Street. The Roots is on the southern road, right next to The Iron Oak. Take note that The Roots is quite a cozy location. On the outside, The Roots has this look of an old saloon out in the wild west. There are a few tables and chairs for outdoor seating, excellent for people-viewing while eating your meal. Inside, The Roots looks delightfully tacky with all the knick-knacks hanging around and about on the walls. Imagine how Cracker Barrel used to look before the new CEO decided the decor should be more minimalist. But my statement on how The Roots looks small from the outside definitely shows when you are inside, too. The place is small. They definitely utilize the space as best they could, with large party seating being in the back for only one party. Still, take note of this limitation. My waitresses were very kind and attentive when serving me. But I am sure you all want to know about the food. The times I have eaten here, I have had three meals: The Eggs Benny Flight, and Pancake Flight, and Shrimp n' Grits. I will detail each in the pictures of food (if I have them), but I will say that everything here was delicious. My one lone criticism is that some of these flights are best enjoyed with another, not by yourself. On a sidenote, the restroom is clean and stocked, but there is only one and it is unisex. As I said earlier, The Roots is the best breakfast and brunch restaurant, well for me, in Historic Downtown Melbourne. So it is understandable why I am giving them a five-out-of-five stars for their review. Food, service, and ambiance are all excellent and the issues are way too minimal for me to consider them having any major affect. If you are ever going to eat at The Roots only once. My suggestion are the flights. Either eggs bennies, pancakes, or mimosas, you can't go wrong with any of them.

Shrimp and grits: 4.5/5 the flavor was there, but the grits could have been just a little hotter. The cheese didn't even really melt on top. But it was delicious... I'm from Louisiana and eat a lot of shrimp and grits and this was good. Shrimp was perfectly cooked. Hash: 5/5 when she first brought it, I thought it looks exactly like what you get in a can....
