I've always found the food here to be consistently delicious, and the service is always excellent. It's definitely one of my favorite spots to eat, and you absolutely have to try their blueberry pancakes--they're amazing! The whole atmosphere inside is wonderful, and I always enjoy visiting the little store they have. It's always filled with nostalgic candy of all sorts and gifts for everyone. The bathroom was clean, you can tell they keep up with it. I was really impressed with the manager who was checking in with each table to make sure everything was perfect. Saturday, October 28th was such a beautiful day, mom and I decided to make the drive from Sterling Heights to Port Huron. We drove along the water the entire way, stopping at the blue water bridge to take in the glory of the St. Clair River joining the Lake Huron. Afterwards we headed to CrackerBarrel for some down home cooking. The inside and outside were kept very clean. We were seated right away. Everyone that worked there was so knowledgeable and kind. The food was served at the right temperature and served in a timely manner. Mom had the special of the day which was the friend chicken dinner. I had the country fried steak. I rarely drink pop anymore but I was so thirsty that I ordered a coke...bummer, after I ordered my coke I saw they have wine on the menu! Yeah, I'll keep that in mind for next time. Pt. Huron, MI location. We had a change in plans, and needed to meet up with family for Thanksgiving dinner. What a horrible meal, and bad service. Yes, I know it was a busy day. Waited a long time for a server. After almost an hour the food came for 3 of us. I was then informed they were out of what I ordered. Took almost another hour to get a different meal for me. I asked for honey 3 times for the biscuits. Finally got 2 small packets. Husband's food overcooked. When I got mine it was overcooked as well, and the side dishes were cold. Driving through the US is so much fun if you like road side quick service restaurants. Cracker Barrel is one of the best because it hasn't changed in years. The country store is like a patriotic tribute with local university gear mixed with dated fashion, and chocolate-candy that the kids can't resist. The food is great because it is home comfort cooking with large portions. Four pieces of southern fried chicken with 2 sides and biscuits. Wife had the chicken and dumplings that the kids took off her plate..because the Mac and Cheese was too rich. Very impressed by this Cracker Barrel and more so by our server Megan. The quality of the food is even better than I remember from road tripping as a kid. We came in with two tornado toddlers and had a large complicated order with many modifications and she didn't mess up our order even in the slightest. That attention to detail is hard to find these days. She was also just very pleasant and knowledgeable. Will be coming back again when we pass through Port Huron. All 4 of us had excellent breakfasts on Sunday morning, August 3, 9 am, celebrating 2 of our birthdays, our annual tradition at Port Huron Cracker Barrel. Our server Chasity was very professional, friendly and checked back on us with coffee, etc. numerous times. Karen visited our table, was very pleasant and chatted a bit, didn't just "touch the table and run". I tried hard to give this place over two stars. The service was good, but almost felt we were being rushed out. I barely got my coffee and my breakfast was being served. This all leads to the question of how they can make food this quickly? The only way they can is if it is in warmers and all pre made. I understand a level of food being premade, but for the most part the food tasted like it came straight out of a warmer. The gravy looked and tasted like it had been sitting around for quite some time. Same with the hash browns. The pancakes were good and I liked the syrup. The food was incredible as always...this is our favorite Cracker Barrel... we've been coming here for years & years. But the Joy of this December visit came to a screeching halt when I was checking out with a few trinkets from the store with a young man named Taylor who should simply be let go... as he does not have the integrity of disposition that nearly all Cracker Barrel employees seem to have. I told him I wanted to use my rewards... he announced my savings would be $5 off...to which I said I was pretty sure it was $10 as that is what my rewards level was at. He snarky announced that if I read the small print I would see that I have to spend a certain amount to get that $10... I said "wow that makes me not want to do the rewards then"!!!! To which he said quite loudly & "So you DONT WANT TO USE YOUR REWARDS"!!!! To which I Said "I told you I want to use my rewards... but it makes me not want to continue with the program as it's deceiving!!!! Then his condescending disposition was smiling in a way that was bizarre & I said "this transaction needs to be over Taylor" and he stomped away from the register and announced someone else would do it. So insult to injury left me standing there after his rudeness waiting even longer... as he walked past me on the other side of the register he gave me the most dramatic smirky fake smile a human could give... like a child actually... and who I believe was a manager finished my transaction & I said to her..." I've been coming to Cracker Barrel for years and have never encountered someone as rude & condescending as Taylor... she asked what happened & I said "I'm not going into it here but I will certainly put it in a review so others will know that Port Huron Cracker Barrel has sadly lowered their bar on front end register people. I was really disappointed. We both ordered a different sampler, and all of the food on both samplers seem to have been pre-cooked and then microwaved. My steak tips were overly well done and the meat was dried out. My chicken tenders were overly done and stringy, and the macaroni and cheese was coagulated. I called the store number, (810)982-1166. I followed the prompts and selected "1" to place an order. I placed my order and they said to pick up in 20 minutes. When I get to the restaurant, they didn't have my order ready and never received an order. I told them I ordered at 826 pm and was told to pick up in 20 minutes at the water at location. The girl I was talking to was very sweet and she took my order, apologized and said it would be ready as soon as possible. So I waited. Another lady rang me up, not sure of her name because I don't know if the name on the receipt was who took my order or the lady that checked me out. So, this lady rings me up tells me my total, and I purchased two additional items from the store. I kindly asked if I would be getting some type of discount for the mixup. She didn't know what I was talking about and rudely said "what mixup?!" I told her that they didn't receive my order and didn't have it ready so I am here waiting longer for my order. Then she continued to rudely ask me "well did you place your order online or call" I told her I called. Then she asked me if I selected 1 or 3? I said I selected 1 because it said to place an order select 1.... So then she very rudely said "well that's not our fault. You chose the wrong one." I said I selected the one that said to place an order which is what I needed to do. So then she asks the manager and the manager was kind and gave me the discount. This whole experience overall was just frustrating because I'm being told it's my fault. I called the number again to check and it says to select 1 to place an order and 3 is to speak with an associate at the store. So which one would you pick? I don't think it's my responsibility, AS A CUSTOMER, to know that your 3rd party service sucks and doesn't send you the orders. Maybe you shouldn't have them taking your orders... Good hearty food at a decent price. Perfectly situated for a quick trip from Ontario. We've been known to drive over the border for the sampler plate. Kids love it. Store side is quite expensive. But it's also niche so it's kind of expected. Plenty of parking. The only downside is the smell. The incense or whatever is used just doesn't agree with me. But. When I was growing up, my family would take a grueling road trip to Florida every single summer and the highlight was almost always a stop into a Cracker Barrel. It made sense, then, that I'd stop into a Cracker Barrel literally minutes after crossing the border from Sarnia. We walked into the place and it was exactly as I'd remembered it. No time for browsing, though; it was time to eat! After perusing a menu that didn't look like it had changed in 20 years, I opted for the U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish Platter (two U.S. farm-raised fillets served spicy grilled or hand breaded and fried to a golden brown with our cornmeal breading). (Obviously I went with fried because I'm not a monster.) The food arrived a short time later, and I was pleasantly surprised to note that everything on my plate was hot. (My biggest Cracker Barrel memory is that while the food was always delicious, it rarely arrived to the table hot.) The catfish was cooked perfectly and the cornmeal breading was absolutely perfect. The platter also came with three sides, so I picked: Breaded Fried Okra (exactly what it sounds like and crunchy and addictive) Hashbrown Casserole (a staple while I was growing up, this is cheesy and potato-filled app is one of the main reasons I dream about Cracker Barrel) Cheese Grits (the one weak link in the meal, as the grits were watery and bland) The meal also came with hush puppies and cornbread. (To this day I have *never* found cornbread anywhere that comes close to the greasy perfection of Cracker Barrel's.) All that food for just over $10. It's an incredible deal, and one that I'm sure most Americans take for granted. (Try ordering that much food at any Canadian chain without paying almost double that amount.) read more

My friend and I stopped in last night because she said their meatloaf is just as awesome as her mom's (I tried her mom's- it's amazing!) We were seated immediately and just as quickly as we sat down Mark came over and took our drink order, told us about the daily special (rainbow trout) and told us about a few more menu items. My friend and I each ordered the meat loaf dinner with mashed potatoes, mac n cheese and sliced apples. Our food arrived pretty quickly. Lots of food! The mac and cheese was extremely cheesy and reminded me of stoffers but better! The mashed potatoes were pretty good, just like homemade Thanksgiving dinner. Meatloaf had tons of peppers and onions throughout. Lots of flavor. Was nice that it wasn't caked in ketchup so we could add our own if we wanted to. We tried the apples but they were fried apples and we asked for fresh sliced apples. They tasted like apple pie filling. I'm not big on apple pie but Mark offered to get us new sides when he noticed we didn't eat much of them. Props to him! He took really good care of us. Service was excellent. Upon entering the restaurant were taken into into the dining room and it was nice to see and feel the warmth of the beautiful fire in the fireplace. It was a welcoming sight on a cold wintery day in Michigan. I would also like to say this location is about an hour from my home but we'll worth the trip. We do have a Cracker Barrel about 5 minutes from my home, but I won't go there. The food and service are horrible! Well, all I can say is the service was great! Devin, for only being there a month, is doing very well. He was friendly and attentive. Our food was so good as you can see in the pictures. The country ham was so good and juicy. So much flavor. The portion sizes were more than enough. The hashbrown casserole was cheesy and not dried out. The macaroni and cheese was very tasty, and lots of cheese was used in that recipe! The fried apples are always great with that sauce that comes with them; they are always amazing! The sweet tea was good. It's usually always better when you're down south, though! My husband ordered the sampler platter. It had meatloaf, chicken,and dumplings, and he picked the country ham. He also got 3 sides. Green beans, corn, and mashed potatoes with gravy. We also had biscuits and corn bread. The sampler platter was very good. Everything was hot and tasty. The diet cola was fresh and carbonated just the way it should be. Areas for improvement: We were the only people at the greeter stand and it took 2.5 minutes until our server greeted us (I believe Megan may have been in the back at the time when we entered). Mary, our server, while kind to my daughter (saying you're welcome and sweetheart to my daughter), was ok with me (when I said thank you, the response was yep). Seemed warmer to women than men in general as I watched her with others. She did not ask if we wanted anything else after her one visit to our table after someone else brought the food. This is why I did not mention dessert for my daughter's birthday and had to learn about the free dessert from Megan. She wasn't unpleasant overall or rude, just not as warm is all. The gravy was lukewarm when we got it and cool by the time I ate my biscuits. My country fried steak was greasy and my hashbrown casserole was a tad to crunchy on the bottom. I also don't like the crunchy "skin" on the eggs, though they weren't burnt and tasted fine. Also, the decor could be dusted and edges cleaned. I used to work in fast food and small diner style places so I look for more than some. Overall my service was fine and I like going there, especially for the gift shop. My mom and I came here for Thanksgiving since she didn't feel like cooking. It was my first time here so I didn't know what to expect. However, I didn't have to worry since I was in good hands. We were seated quickly, after a five minute wait. The hostess sat us in a cozy corner in front of the window and next to the heating which was very nice, since it was a cold Thanksgiving. Our waitress was there almost as fast as we were seated. Tabatha took our orders and had our food in front of us so fast my head almost spun. We both ordered the Thanksgiving dinner, which was fantastic. Turkey, ham, stuffing, mash potatoes, biscuits and cornbread. I finished my plate which is unusual because I usually don't finish a big meal in one setting. Overall, we really enjoyed our dinner and will definitely be back. Family-friendly restaurant. A short distance from the famous Blue Water Bridge, this is a favorite stop for many American and Canadian travelers alike. Take I-69 to the end and merge with I-94 towards Port Huron / Canada. Follow signs to I-94 Exit 274 Water Street. This area has been undergoing major road construction and relocation, so as you take detours and temporary roadways, there may be some difficulty getting to the restaurant. Caution is advised when trying to locate their driveway. The signage out front at the road isn't the best. Other than that, if you have ever been to any other Cracker Barrel Restaurant, you will recognize this cookie cutter layout. It is a successful arrangement that generally works well. Sometimes too well, as you might have to wait for a table at other locations. The food is southern / home style. The menu is always the same from store to store. That said, there is plenty to choose from. They also have daily specials. Check their online menu for your favorites. As in my past experience with Cracker Barrels, they are always pleasant, with good food and warm atmosphere. No complaints here!! To be honest I had high expectations. They were not met at all. When you walk into a restaurant and the first thing is a gift shop, you know it's not going to be a good experience. If the food was good enough to have a gift shop I wouldn't have been as mad. But it was not, the food was average at best and the price was okay. The atmosphere was decent but the staff was rude and when I only left a 20% tip she looked angry. If she would have refilled my drink every once and a while I would have left more.
